ya looney! so you going to buy loads a stuff off Flame then? she's lovely, you should If I'd have thought about it, you should have met up with us both last week, doh!

ow82 · 15/07/2007 21:28

lol - I couldn't I was at mums - typical as well cos band of mothers was with shoshable a the end of our street! lol - we could have had a bit meet up! not sure yet the way to go - DH is anti reusables - will talk him around I think! lol.

Frizbe · 15/07/2007 21:37

if your thinking of having more, defo talk him round, was laughing at my dh chatting to flame re the reuseables, as he was being all for it talking to her, yet when I'd suggested we do them, he said full foot down NO!

laundrylover · 16/07/2007 11:04

Hello,

It was just a toothbrush with soapy water - no toothpaste involved.

Munz, no ironing done in this house. I do have an iron and a little Ikea ironing board but it only comes out for weddings! Obsessive pegging and radiator drying is the key.

Friz, tell us more about the job....I'm intrigued.

DP....he's a bit more sorted and we haven't argued for a good few days. He's started making up kitchen units and dotting them around to clear up the garage and so that we can empty the kitchen and dismantle it. He also has pluerisy which he got after a whack in the ribs playing football on his weekend away. For a whole week he crept around in pain refusing my advise to take Ibruprofen. On Sat he finally went to A & E - Dr diagnosed straightaway and prescribed.....Ibruprofen!! Which of course he now takes religously and feels loads better.

UniSarah · 16/07/2007 15:16

sympathy to your DP LL. pluerisy is painfull.
washing on teh line, boy asleep, invoices printed and ready to take to post box. I could do my accouns or my tax return ... but no, I shall bum about teh interweb for a while.
I'll probadly be gone for several days from wednesday, off to stay at my parents and don;t surpose I'll get on line while I'm there.
Will be taking teh real napies with us this time, I've convinced my self its a good idea. BTW I managed to kill a mooncup teh other day, boiled it dry while sterilising, oops.

OP posts:
Frizbe · 16/07/2007 16:50

Uni PMSL at killing a mooncup so much for saving money and prolonged use eh

LL, typical dh eh mines the same.
Job is with Homestart, organiser to support senior organiser! job descrp says to develop scheme locally, recruit, train, supervise and support volunteer team. Sounds up my street, so I'm going for it, hell my degree might actually even be of some use on this one (Human Geography!) gotta be init to winit right!

laundrylover · 16/07/2007 20:49

Friz, when you've finished organising Homestart can you come and do our house please?

Uni, i did that to my mooncup first time I boiled it but luckily the smell got to me just in time to save it. i always take my nappies away with me but with this weather even I may be tempted to Moltex for a few days! Got 2 loads done today and out on the line, went shopping and then unloaded the girls at the park just as it started to tip it down. Phoned DP to warn him of impending monsoon and he got washing in whilst I bundled kids back into the car with the promise of an ice lolly at home. 15 minutes later it was sunny again.

Frizbe · 17/07/2007 21:28

Damn rain, its been like that here all day too, met great gran for lunch today in a Nottm suburb, got tipped down upon.....managed to huddle under an awning to avoid the worst of it, whilst dd2 tried to escape her rain cover (not the brightest thing to do in a monsoon)

UniSarah · 17/07/2007 21:36

hear me I gloat. I have managed to get two l oads of washing fairly dry on teh line today! one in the morning out as soon as it stoped raining in just before we went to town for teh afternoon then nappies out as soon as we got home, just come in now.
Poor boy, I did hang up teh nappies BEFORE changeing him out of a very over weeed one and wet trews. he was wet already a few minutes more wouldn;t make a differnece. he was more cross at me for delaying his sandwich. So thats 2 soaking wet pairs of trews, vest and wrap today. 1st set was coz I didn;t spot teh LARGE puddle on teh bottom of teh slide before he whizzed down and splashed through it. oops. he had a lovely wet muddy time at teh play ground after that, I took his shoes off and let him get on with it. Thankfully I still cart spare clothes about most of the time.
Good news on teh breastfeding peer suporter front round here. HVs have got funding to train 40 mums in teh next year. At last, our badgering has paid off.

OP posts:
Frizbe · 17/07/2007 21:50

Yay for the bf support Uni does that mean you get to train 40 people yourself?

laundrylover · 18/07/2007 08:15

Uni,

That's good news about the training - we struggle to recruit people on to our courses as they want people from the Surestart area and so far about 75% of us are outsiders. I think they have a few signed up for the next round though. I did my volunteering stint again this week but it's a HV drop in and only a few mum's even come along so no bfing probs so far. Ah well, it gets me out of the house!

Friz, how old is great gran then?

Off to London today to do a facilitated session with up to 50 people - erk!!! Of course Tilly was chunnering in her sleep til 2am and the Kiah got up at 5.45. DP had to take her downstairs as I pleaded inability to function at a high level this afternoon.

Frizbe · 18/07/2007 20:55

5.45 what the hell was she thinking?

Great Gran is 93 and going strong, although I wish she'd move from her council estate its not the best area........but when your set in your ways.....

If I'm not about tomorrow etc its cause we've an event this weekend!

Where is Astro? she must be back online now?

laundrylover · 19/07/2007 19:15

Got back from London at nearly 1am, met a friend for dinner and then got the 9pm train but they'd closed the mainline for repairs so it was 50 mins late! Got to the station with only the last 6 pages of my book to read too.

Have just had my first freecycle experience - I put on our electric chower and the old kitchen.....everyone wants them!!! If you know anyone who is getting a new kitchen then you should get them to freecycle it rather than dump it for sure. A local lady is coming round at 8pm to view...

DP has come home from work after puking everywhere - has tummy bug and has gone to bed. Better start bedtime methinks....

Maybe Astro has moved to the moon...

UniSarah · 20/07/2007 23:32

What an evening.
Dh waiting for trains in teh west country cut off by flooding, bro coming down from Manc flights delayed coz heathrow flooded. ends up with bro and dp arriving 40 miles at teh same time both due to be picked up my dad. oops. bro getimg a taxi, but dad has gone and checked into bros hotel room for him and has teh key in car which is picking up dh. Bro understandable a bit cross, doen't want o come here and wait for dad, bro wants to go and sleep or rather his dp wants to go and sleep.
Now expecting dh about midnight. looking forward to seeing him. boy has missed him loads.

5.45 is most anti social of your children, I recomend a course of getting them soooo tired they slep til 9.15. worked for me last night. After a day out at Kew gardens boy was exhusted.
toodle pip till afterthe\weekwnd, dads 60th party tomorrow. have iced and decorated 2 cakes tonight + made a choc sludge cake and dinner.

OP posts:
laundrylover · 21/07/2007 10:06

Sounds like chaos Uni! That said if it hadn't been the flooding then I'm sure something else would have made everything frantic as family get togethers are always like this eh? Have a great weekend and have a piece of cake for me....

We've left the girls at Mum's and having a mad house day. Cousins bf is plastering the front bedroom with Pete and my MIL is emptying the kitchen with me. Plan is for Freecycle lady to come and take most of the kitchen away later...just freecycled the cooker too! I'm a convert.

Big night out tonight. Our friend is throwing a diiner party for 26 of us in his gastro pub!! I've been twice before but always been pregnant or bfing a little one so not taken advantage of the free wine - Kiah at Mum's over night so bring it on. Will post with hangover tomorrow.

Jackstini · 22/07/2007 22:30

Well long time no post - never seem to have time now I am working full time but have tried to skim read most of this thread so I can see what you are all up to and hear about your lovely munchkins.
Munz reminded me about this thread when we 'met up' on the.........wait for it......
March 2008 ante-natal thread!
Yes I must also be mad as we are expecting number 2, like Munz it looks like due about the same time as before
will try and keep track of you all

laundrylover · 23/07/2007 09:58

Hey Jackstini - congratulations and lovely to hear from you again.

It's great that you and Munz are due the same time....keep popping on here to say hello.

DP and I had a very boozy night out on Sat and kids stayed at my parents....we didn't get up until 10 am...mind you DP only came home at 6am!! Kiah was very eagerly shouting 'booby booby' when she finally saw me at lunchtime.

UniSarah · 23/07/2007 13:25

Home again. Not too bad an epic as it went, many people got hit MUCH worse by flood choas than we did. One couple didn;t make teh party as they were cut off but otherwise all amde it there .
My In laws still dont know if their house (they move into in 2 months time on retirement) is undr water as they havn;t been able to reach it. The tennants moved out a week or two ago. MiL was rescued by police from a garden centre she had got stranded at with a very distrubed patient ( shes his carer) whos drugs were wearing off. Got back to residential home to find the ground floor under water. NOT a afternoon/night shift for her. siL abandoned her car and wias rescued by her dh with 4x4.

My boss ( when I work!) spent friday night in his van on an island, it was a well equiped island as it was a village with a pub and a chinesse take away. We are waiting to hear what happens over the next few days to the stage and kit he has out on hire in oxfordshire.
Boy had a padle in the garden at mum and dads on friday, he was desperate to go and investigate all this water ( only 2 inches) so I stipped him off and let him, didn;t last long when he found it was cold water!

Freecycle is great isn;t it. I has a bike to freecycle, must get round to it. I don;t get teh digest of offers tho, I dont want to be tempted to take on MORE stuff.
Jacks- HI, big wave.

OP posts:
Jackstini · 23/07/2007 17:01

Wow Uni - sounds like you are having a lot going on at the moment.
LL - LOL at Kiah shouting Booby Booby! I came ome from a work trip last month and Scarlett climbed down my top going mum-mum-mum-mum!

Frizbe · 23/07/2007 21:33

at those booby babies
Great to hear from you Jackstini congrats on your impending arrival

LL yay for freecycle and at the gastro pub! me come too

Uni, yikes, hope your folkes house is ok, its a mess out there. Hope your bosses stuff is ok too, guess its insured??
Mind you I can report that the Gloucs Emergency Rescue command post on the M5 is staffed by some serious totty although the kids were most upset to find that the pizza hut staff were stranded and therefore it wasn't open for tea..... and I did feel sorry for the woman who tried to charge dh £20 for two kids meals, a snack box and two coffees.....he got her down at a tenner in the end

Had a not too wet weekend in Wales, in the end anyway, just made it in time really, as I left in the morning and got down the M5/M50 just as it started really bucketing it, by the time the 1st lot of northern players arrived 4 hrs after me, they we're declaring the M50 a no go zone, and the next arrivals 2hrs after them, confirmed it had been shut Then people started arriving from Oxford way saying the M5 was shut.....and you know the rest of the mess. Dh took 12.5hrs to get to Wales in the end, he went from Leeds M1, A38, M42, sat in a jam, I called him and said had heard road closed, so he did M6/M1/M25/M4 and got to site at 01.30am, that's one hell of a school run still at least he made it eh, some of our crew spent the night in the M5 jam, and bless em, they still carried onto our game instead of going home nutters the lot of them

laundrylover · 26/07/2007 10:59

Morning all!

Any news on the house yet Uni? I've been watching the news on Glous and it's depressing eh? Mind you my mum said one woman on the radio was complaining because she had to make up some formula with bottled water which had a high sodium content! Some people don't know they're born eh? Thanks f**k she didn't live in Asia and get flooded!!!

Our house is full of plumbers fitting the new boiler and re-routing pipes (boiler and washer are moving into garage). Yesterday they discovered that the gas only trickled through the pipe so no wonder the boiler was pants! We didn't notice as we don't have a gas hob - anyway Transco are meant to be fitting a new line today so it's now a much bigger job.....

Eating lunch yesterday when water dripped through the lightfitting - the plasterer had knocked a pipe and ceiling now wet through.

Range cooker arrived with a dent in the side and scratches on top.....hmmmmm.....I can see why people buy a Barrats house....not really!

Roll on Scotland so I can work in peace with no house to worry about - I'll leave that to DP!

UniSarah · 26/07/2007 15:48

Huum, so my post last night didn;t make it through.

As I was saying but you didn;t see. Friz - your Larpers are a tough lot. only one non local made it to teh dartmoor muni weekend, a couple or riders who got stranded in Malvern held their own mini weekend and went out to ride any way.
Re the formula comments- Its just another of the advantages of boob over bottle. once you have done it you can relactate ( though I gather this does require some degree of devotion to the cause and needs frequent attempted feed to get going again if you have stopped compleatly. Someone in our sort of situation stil breast feeding 1 or 2 times aday should be back up to full production in a day or two! perfect uncontaminated baby milk ( and free)

Boss's kit apears to be fine! appently the duck pond (!) it's set up on top of is at teh top of the vilage and thus unlikey to flood. I don;t quite understand but I'm going over there on sunday to take it down so will find out what he means then. I shall be taking my flease sleeping bag and plenty of supplies just in case! The truck I'll be driving back is just about wide enough for me to lie across the cab , I've had short naps in there before.

Not heard from inlaws yet, but we were out last night. Got a baby sitter ( bf) and dh and I went to see Harry Potter and teh order of teh phoenix. Today I've statrted reading HP & the Deathly hallows. its slightly annoying tho, I wish I'd re read Half blood prince in between as I've forgotton lots of it and so teh story is a bit jumpy in my head. never mind.

OP posts:
laundrylover · 26/07/2007 15:58

Not sure about tough for those LARPers but certainly billy bonkers.

LOL at thought of Uni stranded by flood water and keeping the whole village self sufficient in breast milk!! Gives a whole new reason to do extended bfing! BTW I read your comment re the babysitter as being bfed too - think I need to get back into RL.

Well, unsuprisingly Transco cannot make it to our house today so we have no hot water at all now as old boiler and tank have gone. The house is being ripped apart around me but have still managed to draft a letter and do an application form. What a trooper.

Tilly's last day at nursery today so dropped her off with buns and a cake that her and my mum made yesterday.

Frizbe · 26/07/2007 23:03

last day at nursery???? remind me what I'm missing there, is it childminders next?

Can say officially billy bonkers total 100%

LL about the gas, hope its sorted soon. Thanks very muchly for your help with the app form as well!! have another mate coming over tomorrow night to proof read the whole thing, then if she ok's it, I'll write it up over the weekend and post on monday! (and still won't get an interview I'll bet! but its all good practice)

Uni, have fun doing the takedown/getout, I tracked down my asst stage mgr mate to China this week!! facebook is good for keeping up with people!! lol.....he was in Israel last I'd heard!

Managed to take dd1 to Shrek today, dh got rained off. My mum made me laugh later on, rang to say that the damn water board had parked on her driveway, the audacity of it stuff that the road was actually flooded, she wanted to park and had nearly had a heart attack when they were all on her drive, as she thought she'd been personally flooded (stuff the rest of the street eh!) when in fact they were merely pumping the road and a few other people, but her drive was the highest dryest place to park, lol......

UniSarah · 27/07/2007 14:28

in laws had a lucky escape it seems, most houses in the road had some water in the ground floor, but theirs only had a wet garage floor and nowt inside the house! SiL is still with out tapwater both at home and at work. shes being very squemish about it.
why last day at nursery, did i miss something?
i'm a queue on th phone to the tax office, i can't find the right place for something on my tax return, bum.
