Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
saralou100 · 30/04/2007 14:29

hi.. wel ds2 survived his hour at nursery!! ( i walked out with tears in my eyes....silly mummy!)
so the questions about his routine went... what times bottles - when he's hungry, sometime between 9 and 12!
sleep time - when he's tired! where - anywhere, cot, sofa, pushchair!
food - doesn't eat any yet!
what nappies/wipes - whatevers on special offer!

so no i don't think we have any routine, except ds1 has a bedtime (ds2 did, but he now has other ideas!!!)

HaHa Saralou im glad to see its not just me who buys whatever wipes etc are on special offer, glad it went ok anyway and your not silly, i would have been clinging on to the door frame probably so your braver than me!!! And actually i know i said we have no routine but i am quite proud od our sleep routine. I started a bed routine of bath, bottle and then in the cot to sleep from 6 weeks old and he has slept through the noight since about 4 months old bless him.
Im bit worried about his poo lately tho (sorry if anyone is eating lunch) it is hard and very dark and he seems to struggle going and i know this is normal when they start solids but he has been on them a while???

podglet · 30/04/2007 15:33

Hi,

Thanks girls, it's going ok-ish. I'm v sore (last bf was 5am today, but only from one side so r.h side enormous and solid!) and DS is a bit miserable but that is only to be expected. We're battling through - if I wait til he is bellowing for food, he will take between 3 - 4 oz before he cops on so just doing that and I will gradually increase the amounts. I also know that the nights are going to be rubbish again until he is settled on the formula.

Have also worked out that he doesn't seem to like the first stage formula - I have been trying to give him Aptamil but he was spittling it out. This morning, I gave him Hipp follow on with his breakfast and he took 4 oz. This afternoon I experimented and tried the Aptamil again - spat out but took 4 oz SMA follow on. So, going to play around with the follow ons until I find one he really likes then I will use that - buying lots of different 200ml cartons at the moment! He's 6 months tomorrow so ready for the follow on.

Right, will stop boring you to death with my son's feeding habits - must go and deal with the steriliser - not used to this malarky!

Hope everyone is ok.

podglet · 30/04/2007 15:36

sorry lebe, x posts. Is your DS drinking enough? This could make him a bit constipated. I have to be careful not to fill DS up on solids otherwise he won't drink.

Also meant to add - Sara, I was a mess when I put DS is creche for the first time (it was only an hour too) - I left about 30 instructions and cried - they must have thought I was neurotic! Routine - we did have a good evening routine up til today - who knows now?!

LeBe · 30/04/2007 15:46

Yeah he drinks quite a good amount of milk per day and is the only baby i know who crys for a drink of water and has a good old gulp with every meal. Dont worry about the steraliser (sp?) I had to deal with it the day we came home from the hspital with new born ds after not bothering looking at it before because i was sure i was bf, anyway the state i was in it could of been some equipment from NASA for all i knew, but i could do it in my sleep now! lso imy ds struggled with milk and i tried Cow & Gate comfort milk for newborn and he has just moved on to follow on and has been great on it, also I recommended to a friend who found it great too, down point, they dont do ready made cartoons! (soz) x

mygirllollipop · 30/04/2007 17:11

I would back the water/prune juice advice.
Podglet - your DH might get better results with a bottle, DH did with DD3 (when she was about a year!).

saralou100 · 30/04/2007 17:24

podlet, i found a hot bath helped and a bit of hand expressing while i was in their.. i think once or twice i had to actually get the pump out it was sooooo painful!! goodluck, keep it up!!

lebe, i used to put apple juice in ds1's water if he was a bit constipated.. hich seemed to help!

podglet · 30/04/2007 20:30

Hi

Well, a much better first day non bf than I thought. He has taken about 22oz during the day and has been brill about the bottle. He has lunged toward my boobs a couple of times but I have distracted him with other things. I have been through 3 t-shirts and 3 bras and have boobies like cannonballs. Am going to try and express a couple of oz before bed to try and relieve the discomfort.

Debbsy - wishing you loads of luck for Friday. Today has been tough but DS has helped loads by being so good. Thank you for the huge hug, really need it at the mo.

Ok, am off to treat myself to a large glass of wine.

debbsyandsonn · 30/04/2007 20:49

podge cabbage leaves are meant to really help.Enjoy the wine xx

mygirllollipop · 30/04/2007 20:53

Debbsy - out of the people who showed an interest, we have two people inthe north west, two in the mid west, one in London area and one on the SE coast? So not sure how we will go about it. People will have to give preferences for days times.
As for just us (as we are not that far apart) then I'm easy any day DH works 9-5 so I should fit around that no probs. Drop me an email at mygirllolipop 9remember one less L) at hotmail dot com to arrange .

debbsyandsonn · 30/04/2007 21:18

will do mygirl bit busy this week as df who has the masectomy is home so going to help her and her children this week so wont be arround much.

mygirllollipop · 01/05/2007 08:05

No problem Debbsy. You are being a great friend going round and helping her out.

LeBe · 01/05/2007 09:04

Morning Girls.

I need some ideas! I have been so busy the last week ive not spent any quality time with ds so i have all day free with just me and him and want to do something nice but have hardly any budget to do so! Any suggestions welcome!!

Thanks x x

NatalieJane · 01/05/2007 09:24

Morning girls Hello Lebe!! Nice to see you back

Sorry I haven't read the thread, way too much information for this time in the morning!! I will tackle it all a bit later on!

DS1 has had a mystery bug, he was ill all weekend, managed to go to school yesterday no problem, he has woken up this morning and can't walk - literally, have rang the doctors and bearing in mind there is only one doctor at our surgery, he isn't in till 10.30 and then he isn't in this afternoon, and there are no appointments left, obviously very pissed off, so I am off to phone round to change our doctors, and I will admit to be kind of worrying a little too much maybe, but what the hell would stop him being able to walk?

mygirllollipop · 01/05/2007 09:26

NJ - could be flu, that's the test o see if it's flu or cold, flu if there was £50 on top of the TV you couldn't get up[ and grab it.

LeBe · 01/05/2007 09:29

Nj - I hope ds1 is ok, i have no idea about these things so wont speculate but try not to worry too much, Is it he cant physically walk or that he doesnt want to because hes poorly? I would get back onto your doctors and explain how poorly your son is, they should never turn away a patient especially a child and then i agree you should change surgerys! Let us know how you get on. x

Charleesunnysunsun · 01/05/2007 09:35

Morning all.

I am feeling a little more human this morning so i think i should try and get back to normality a little bit, so here is an update on us all.

Harry is getting huge, i haven't had him wieghed in ages but he looks quite big, he eats 3 solid meals a day and is still on the boob which i am hoping to wean him off, i tried going cold turkey the other day but it hurt so much and he was screaming and not taking a bottle, i gave in! I am starting to replace breast with bottle on a feww feeds a day but it is quite hard as he has never had a feeding routine at all.

He is still waking once a night at about 3am for a feed so thats not to bad, it could be alot more.
He is sitting up for a little while at a time now and rolling all over the place, he has also discovered his voice so is shouting and squealing alot which he finds hilarious!

Jacks fine he has settled back into school like noithing ever changed and is happy to take things as they come. He is doing my head in with his behaviousr though, but i suppose it's typical of a 2yr old. He waits untill harry is asleep to then scream in his face to wake him up and he just generally distroys things for what seems like no reaon!

DP and i are fine i am getting round to getting my own health sorted and have a renal scan on Friday afternoon, i am also continuing my driving lessons and seems to be doing ok.
We are at the moment getting the garden sorted for when summer really arrives for BBQ's and gatherings.

I hope your all ok,

Lebe have you a park you could take him to for a picnic?

NatalieJane · 01/05/2007 10:22

I don't think it is flu, he is absolutely fine whilst sat on the couch, no temp, no cold like symptoms etc. you wouldn't think anything is wrong with him when he is sat down, but when I have managed to get him to try and stand up, he just collapses and screams in agony. When he started this morning I thought he had just been led still for too long and so couldn't walk because of feeling that morning stiffness type feeling, but he has been awake since 7 o'clock with no change. I am getting quite worried about it now, then I check myself and think he has probably pulled a muscle or something, but then the worry creeps back in, you all know what it is like when they are ill.... Bloody kids!

Charleesunnysunsun · 01/05/2007 10:33

NJ is it that he is having to much pain in his legs to walk or are his legs physucally not supporting him iykwim?

NatalieJane · 01/05/2007 11:10

I think it is too much pain, he can't put either of his feet flat on the floor and stand up straight, when I have pushed him to try and stand up straight he automatically goes on tip toes, whilst screaming in pain.

I am wondering if he could have had a cramp in his leg in the night and so the muscle is feeling tight, but it is both legs, and he says he can't remember having any pain in them over night, which seems strange because the fews times I have woken up with cramp in my leg it fucking hurts like hell and I deffo remember it in the morning...!

Excuse language

NatalieJane · 01/05/2007 11:13

DH has managed to get him an appointment at 12.20 with the doctor, I don't know if I am more worried that it is something serious, or more worried that the doctor is going to say he is putting it on! It isn't like DS1 to put it on, and there is definatly something hurting him, but whether it is hurting him as much as he is making out...? I don't know.

LeBe · 01/05/2007 11:35

NJ - Dont ever feel like your worrying too much. I started being like that with Alfie when he was a bit younger until someone reminded me its better to be safer than sorry (even though most the time you think the worst and its nothing) and that is what doctors are there for. And if the doctor accuses him of putting it on, tell him tht he isnt normally like it and you are his mum and you know him better than anyone to know whether he is being honest or not. I know what its like to think you are overreacting about things and some docs make you feel like this but just think im sure if they were in your situation they would do the same as you! Good luck! x

NatalieJane · 01/05/2007 13:24

Well low and behold it is a virus, shock horror!! Doc has given us some AB's so if he isn't any better in a couple of days we are to start them and that's it. I am very relieved I had alsorts going through my head! He had his MMR booster two weeks ago which we were very up tight about (which is why he has only just had it at 5 years old!) and then I was thinking maybe it was some sort of poisoning (I know that sounds way OTT but I know some poisons can cause like muscle pain and numbness)

And the worst thing of all? Our doctor now knows who we are when we walk in, these last few months we have had one or another of us down there for something different each time, that is very depressing!!

Anyway, time for lunch, I will try and catch up with you all properly this afternoon

LeBe · 01/05/2007 15:57

Ah NJ your poor ds, glad it is nothing more serious and dont worry i am exactly the same as you if ds has something wrong im always imagining worst case senarios i think its natural (well i hope so!).
Just a quick question for all who have weaned, ds is having 3 meals a day and a couple of snacks, do you feed until they wont eat anymore or just feed the portion you have decided?? Oh yeah and any healthy snacks and finger food ideas needed poor ds either gets biscuit, rice cake or carott stick!
