Here we go girls - Amie, Kiwi, Dixia, Flannelettepyjamas, we can start comparing motherhood notes on this one and wait for the others to arrive one by one. Although I suspect the other thread will be our home until there's critical mass. To those of you still waiting to join the post-natal people - get a move on!!

DollyPopsOut · 12/04/2007 07:24

Just checking in while the bath runs. I have 2 sleeping children which is nothing short of miraculous in this house. Sorry to all who are struggling. DD1 was a pants sleeper and i was up every night between 1am dn 4.30am, then back on at 6.30. Really thought I was going to die from exhaustion. I can't offer any solutions off the top of my head, but will think and come back to you. DD2 sleeps so much better - we feed a lot until about 11.30ish, then a quick scoff at 2.30 and back on about 6ish. I am watching DVDs in bed onthe laptop whilst awake to keep me entertained. So far, have seen all of series 6 of Sex and the City, and am about to move on to Desperate Housewives . I suspect this may all change and I'll be back on the night shift full time shortly, but it's ok now.

Will try to catch up properly shortly. Take care everyone XXXXX

LunarSea · 12/04/2007 08:33

sazzy - ds1 used to be really hard to get off to sleep, but we found that an electric swing worked wonders. Not sure if it was the movement, of the repetitive whirr of the motor, but something seemed to do the trick with him.

Toby is almost totally the opposite though - he'll drop off on his own no problem. In fact he doesn't actually spend much time awake, except for when he's feeding. So it seems to be just luck of the draw what you get. I do wonder if the nature of the birth/labour has something to do with it? With ds1 it was very long drawn out, with Toby it was all over in a few minutes, so perhaps he was just less unsettled by it?

kittyhas6 · 12/04/2007 09:25

Got a text from Mossie, bertie's in scbu, cord was round his neck. I think he has to stay there until Fri just to be on the safe side.
Poor Mossie, it was a real shock to her.

So, here we all all are on the next stage of our journey together

muppethasakitten · 12/04/2007 09:39

Congrats mossy was hoping to wake up to the good news... hope you're home with bertie soon.

more one handed typing from me too... the crachan has awoken and i'm praying to the lord (or should it be lard) that i don't have another mammoth non-sleeping day. Off to orthopaedics later to check his clicky hips have resolved...

Dolly - you're so right - I thought i was going to die from exhaustion yesterday... in fact i had a real turn putting the shopping away - the room span and everything

foxcub · 12/04/2007 10:55

OMG Kitty - hope Bertie is OK. I'm sure he is but poor Mossie - I was hoping she'd have an easy time of it.

Rosy - I'm a chocoholic too - I ate twice my body weight in chocolate over Easter. I received no easter eggs but decided it was a good time to teach the children the importance of sharing

Totally agree BTW - I thought the same thing - Laidback is totally gorgeous (Laidback blushes no doubt) - Laidback its your solemn duty to produce lots of beautiful kids

Eids - your DD3's sleep patterns seem a bit like Monti's

He tried another smile this morning - a bit lopsided and toothless but very cute

Dolly - I've been watching all sorts of weird things at 4am

kittyhas6 · 12/04/2007 10:57

I think he is fine, they are just keeping a eye. Mossie said she was absolutely terrified but feels calmer now.

Ronnie only woke twice last night, good on him .

foxcub · 12/04/2007 12:25

Glad you got some sleep last night Kitty - you needed it! How are the others responding to their new baby brother? Specially DD3?

My DD has become a bit fragile since Monti arrived. Keeps having wee wee accidents and needs lots of reassurance.

"My Brest Friend" has just arrived; the lower back support thingy feels marvellous - hopefully it will alleviate the backachje I get from my crap posture when I feed. As I spend all day feeding Monti, I thought it was worth investing in a good pillow (my old one is knackered after DS1 and DD used it as a football )

Read in newspaper the other day that new mums spend on average 5.5 hours a day staring at their newborn babies!

only that long?

kittyhas6 · 12/04/2007 12:39

Foxy, dd3 seems fine atm, but time will tell. She's such a placid thing anyway. I know what you mean about the wee accidents. DD2 is having a dirty protest every now and again , just pees in the corner of the room.

I've just arranged for the lovely lady who put my pelvis back togther after dd2's birth to come and see me next week. My pelvis is so damaged from his birth.

How are yours with Monti now, are things setttling down?

Rosylily · 12/04/2007 12:52

Poor Mossy and Bertie, I'm sure they will be all happy and home very soon though.

Fox I think it's laidbacks beautiful eldest boy...could be wrong...hey laidback give us more piccys so we can nosey more thoroughly

My feeding posture is bad too, and all the choccy has bound me up and I've got bottom department problems now I am definately going to try and stay off it!

Kitty glad you and Ronnie are settling now by the sounds of things.

LaidbackinEngland · 12/04/2007 13:01

Yes ... Rosy and Foxy - It is my son (aged 10) His hair is long and surfy at the mo and he does get mistaken for a girl as he has very pretty eyes ! Will stick some on of me and DH .... not so pretty

Piffle - my email is playing up , can you text me your address my mobile is 07919485000 and I will post you the baby beehinds (have it all ready to go ! )

We are off to Devon house hunting for the weekend, leaving this afternoon. Amos is being lovely... although like Hasan has a spotty little face at the moment. Still haven't given him a bath yet . Health visitor came today, she is incredibly nervy, and did his hearing test, all ok.

Hope Mossie and Bertie are home soon.

LunarSea · 12/04/2007 13:18

foxcub - that's probably because there's not an awful lot else you can do if you're spending that long or more feeding them every day. Mind you we seem to have pefected the baby in on arm, mumsnetting onehanded with the other technique here!

Rosylily · 12/04/2007 13:26

yep Lunar I'm typing one handedly here too

Happy househunting laidback! My eldest boy has long hair too but can't be mistaken for me cuz he's nearly 6 ft with an adams apple! and a big deep voice, and of course lots of spots too

Kitty my pelvis was so bad at first I could barely walk, 4 weeks later it's ok now thank goodness. hope you get yours sorted!

muppethasakitten · 12/04/2007 13:27

I THOUGHT it was your son... then when Rosy and Foxy assumed it was you I felt silly for assuming it wasn't!! I just thought BLIMEY! Laidback must have made some sort of Dorian Gray deal with the devil or something!!! Lol

Good luck with househunting... which is your fave bit of devon... I was at Uni in Exeter... it's so lovely down there!

Burst into tears on my HV today at the clinic... went to get Samuel weighed as he'd been feeding non-stop yesterday and as i mentioned i felt the bar had run well and truly dry... convinced my milk was on its way out and he was starving slowly! Anyway the bugger has only gone and put on nearly a pound in a week... no fecking wonder I nearly passed out yesterday... the child is draining my life essence!

LaidbackinEngland · 12/04/2007 13:35

More pictures added Rosy/Foxy x

sazzybee · 12/04/2007 14:15

Why didn't I take in that bit about the cord round Bertie's neck? How frightening Hopefully they'll be home and getting to know one another properly soon.

That was why I had to have a cs - because they were scared that would happen to Elliot.

I'm feeling loads better today - I went to see a bf counsellor yesterday about my cracked nipple and she fixed my crap latch. And lo! my boy now sleeps! 3 whole hours in a row last night and today he went down without a murmur! I'm thrilled to bits. I'm appalled to think he may just have been really hungry the whole time.

I also (and I feel bad saying this) feel a bit relieved my mum's gone home. It was great having her here but I really need to feel I'm in charge of things. And you know how you have a way of doing stuff? I've spent the morning putting back all the things that aren't quite in the right place

Oh yes kitty my hip was agony about a week after I had the baby - I couldn't walk without sobbing in pain. 3 weeks on and I can barely feel it. Hopefully you'll be the same.

Ahh muppet - that's great that Samuel's doing so well. I've not taken Elliot into be weighed since he was 10 days so I'm anxious he hasn't grown either. Now I've got the latch sorted I've got a week (when next clinic is on) to try and stuff him up . He was so skinny at birth (6 lbs 7 oz) and had really baggy skin - like a sharpei dog. But he's definitely filling out. My theory was that he's eating so much because he's so thin but that doesn't seem to be the case with everyone else's babies! Maybe it's just boys?

Hope everyone else is having a reasonable day. Just realised this is a v long post

foxcub · 12/04/2007 14:29

Laidback !!!

BTW you are gorgeous too!!

Kitty - hope you get your pelvis sorted - you will need that in the coming weeks. How are the nips? Mine were like a battle gorund for about 4 weeks then suddenly healed.

Lunar - have never managed to perfect the on the arm BF, hence the opillow

Muppet - huge hugs to you

Anyone think Monti Finbar sounds too much like "the Mighty Quinn"? 91960's song)? DH likes Monti Fintan (too many T's?)

Seem to have had a vague perios - really as am 100% BFing - s'not fair!!!

Rosylily · 12/04/2007 15:26

periods? I still haven't stopped bleeding since the birth. It's light though.

Fox I like Monti Fintan, think it sounds great!

Laidback thanks for putting more piccys up you do have an amazing childlike beauty and your hubby looks a handsome chap, you lovely jubbly little family you!

kiwibella · 12/04/2007 15:57

wow... sooooo many messages!! I have to question how long we spend gazing at our wee ones while we feed, 5.5 hours just doesn't seem enough .

Fox... Monti Fintan only has two t's but it does sound like there are more. I have to be a fence sitter and admit that I like both . Are there any reasons behind the choices of these names??

We seem to be having a good day. The sun is streaming in the front doors and Kate is down for her second sleep of the day. This time, after she woke after falling asleep at my breast, I put her in her bed to see what would happen and get dd's lunch and... ta-dah, she went off by herself. Lots of waking and short cries but I am so impressed.

Had an issue last night - Mum and her husband are over for a couple of weeks - Mum's husband fed Kate beer!!! I missed it because I was helping in the kitchen but when I came out I was told that she didn't like stout. Infact, she seemed to be wearing most of it. I was so totally pissed and, thankfully, Mum gave him a right bolloxing. Vented my frustration / annoyance to dh after they left and he didn't think it was a problem... so he got one from me too.

There is so much going on with everyone and their babies... it's such a privilege to read through all the posts Take it easy

AmieR · 12/04/2007 16:59

Glad Mossie and Bertis are OK, those SCBU shifts aren't much fun but it will be worth it in the end!

Glad the latch was sorted Sazzy and feeds seem to be going better!

Joseph went 4 hours through the night but since then has been every 2! Whihc was a nightmare this mornigng as the receptionist at the Doctors totally wasn't listening to me when I booked in for his jabs and didn't give the Nurse his notes so we never got called to go through! I was sat there for about an hour, Being my first time I wasn't sure how things worked and then she came over to me and asked why I was sat there!

Anyhoo Joseph wimpered for a second then fell asleep, so he didn't seem too effected by being injected in both thighs!

Also got him weighed at he's now 8lbs 3ozs! Seems so big to me but he still has 3lbs to make up to Jensen's birth weight! LOL

Fox - I'm loving Monti Fintan!

kiwi - I think I'd be slightly annoyed by that too!

Jaysecond · 12/04/2007 19:47

cant beleive this thread was started on the 26th Feb!!!

LOL amieR @ your comment re weights, glad Joseph is making good progress and very of the 4 hr stint he had, but am with you on the every 2 hr stint now, Jensen is only doing the same, and in fact it can be every 1 1/2 hrs he wants feeding. HV came today and weighed him, 12lbs 8ozs now, youd think hed be able to feed and sleep a bit longer wouldnt you, but no

I took him to the docs yesterday re his constant squirming and his constant crying and unsettledness, hes in a lot of pain (mum knows best) and is very uncomfortable. I chatted to a few MN's and read a bit on the net, i thought it might have been this 'silent reflux' - anyway, i explained everything to the doc who, while isnt dimissing that, has said to me to cut out all dairy products for a week to see if that makes a difference. So am in the process of doing just that....difficult when i have three big easter eggs sitting on the side, but you do want to try anything for your kids to make them feel better.
On top of the hassles with Jensen, i had to take dd to A&E at 9.30 last night as she wouldnt stop screaming after waking up at 8. her top lip had swelled up and she was drooling so much i had to change her and her sheets anyway turns out she has a mouth full of ukcers due to a mouth viral infection......its just one thing after another with her at the mo, didnt get to bed till gone 1 (left expressed milk with my Mum who sat with Jensen) then Jen woke at 2 and then every 2 hrs after, SO tired! hopefully she will get better soon and i can get to the bottom of Jensens problems and i can start enjoying being a second time mum, becasue at the mo i feel like crap

anyway off to have dinner that DH has cooked for me, will read through and post later xxxxxxx

Rosylily · 12/04/2007 22:21

Kiwi I would be fuming about that too!
Amie sounds like Joseph is doing really well
Jay, I really feel for you, things seem to be hard going for you at the moment, it really will get easier though, hang in there!

I am so fed up of being voiceless today, it's so hard to be a mother when I can only croak and whisper...driving me mad, plus my lovely sister popped over from scotland and I can't gossip with her properly!

Anyway, stayed off choccy today...quite an accomplishment, and off to bed shortly and hoping my voice is back tomorrow!

flannelettepyjamas · 12/04/2007 23:37

Just adding us in.
Have not had time to write lately due to general hectic-ness at home and the fact that my sis is visiting at the mo .
Jessica's doing well and is a hefty 6lb11oz now!! She's starting to do the evening crying thing (DD 1 did the same and drove me nearly mad). It was terminated last night with a bottle of EBM ( I have litres of the stuff in the freezer) so might try that again. I'm off to buy some infacol today.
Hope all is well with everyone

Jay darling, sounds like you are really going through it at the moment. Things WILL get better for you, keep remembeing that in the midst of it all. I was in tears on the toilet yesterday just because I was tired and something I can't even remember set me off.
Today though, much better day and oh my god - took Jordi to the clinic and he is now a whopping 11lb!!!! He's on the 75th centile which is what he was on at birth so he's back on track completely for his gestation anyway.

I went out again tonight with a friend from work, and this time I really wanted to stay out, but came home by 10.20 as had promised DP I wouldn't leave him too long - LO was fine and settled when I came back so could have stayed out longer... oh well, there's always the next time.

Jordi is getting very much more alert and demanding, ie, doesn't want to be put down when awake and cries quite a lot - I'm hoping a time will come when he will be happy to be put on a playmat or whatever and not cry. However I have the feeling he is going to be a baby needing a lot of stimulation and attention. .

Belated happy easter to you all. I had a loely time at my mum's with my sisters and their kids hence no posting for days. I'm so enjoying this lovely weather!
