March 2007 - even though it hasn't actually arrived, some of us have (iyswim)

CallieNewMum · 26/02/2007 20:06

Here we go girls - Amie, Kiwi, Dixia, Flannelettepyjamas, we can start comparing motherhood notes on this one and wait for the others to arrive one by one. Although I suspect the other thread will be our home until there's critical mass. To those of you still waiting to join the post-natal people - get a move on!!

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
eidsvold · 13/04/2007 00:01

foxy - I too have been teaching the girls about 'sharing' they got a shed load of eggs after an easter egg hunt at my aunts as well as the bunny be bought them and then my mum bought them a huge choc bunny each as well.

I don't know if it is my hormones but I am craving choc like mad!!

Last day of easter school break - thank goodness - my two older dds have been little ratbags this week - dh has gone back to work and the dds sense when I am busy feeding dd3 and use that time to get up to all sorts of mischief. The fact that I am tired and hormonal - poor things have had cranky mummy for a week!!

Off to the GP's to see if I can get the OK to drive as dd1 starts back at all her activities and therapy next week and I need a gp's okay to drive for insurance otherwise I have to wait 6 weeks. Last time GP said it was okay - my wound had healed nicely and stomach/uterus had contracted nicely. HOpefully she will say the same again. Know I am in a better position this time - last tiem I had a 2 1/2 yo who was not walking so needed carrying everywhere.

Glad to hear things are settling down for some of you. Hope things get sorted soon Jay.

Monti Finbar is my choice

Hope Mossie is home soon with Bertie.

sazzybee · 13/04/2007 08:15

Oh Jay - sounds like you're having a rough time of it. Hope things pick up for you today. Everyone always says that you have no idea what tiredness is like until you've had a baby - and now I know it's true! I know I keep saying this but I honestly don't know how you lot cope with more than one - I think I'd lock myself in the bathroom!

Last night Elliot woke for a feed at 1.30 and then didn't wake again until 6.30! I'm hoping it wasn't just a one off.

Eidsvold - are you in the UK? I'm just wondering if it's worth me going to my GP and seeing if I can get signed off. Do they give you a note or something? I don't have to drive but I'd like to.

Muppet - was it you that asked about Elliot's tongue tie? Anyway - other mws have had a look and don't think it's that bad so I'm going to leave it. I'll ask the GP when I go and see her next week. I suspect the mw who pointed it out was going a bit overboard with trying to make an impact as she was supposed to have come the previous day to take out my stitches and forgot.

Enjoy the sunshine everyone! I'm going to be putting some sweet peas into the propogator today

Callie - sterling work girl! I think you were due on the same day as me originally - and Jordi sounds like he's really catching Samuel up!!! Keep it up!!

Sazzy - good that you don't have to do anything about Elliot's tongue for now at least... sounded a bit drastic at the time didn't it... just one more thing to worry about and all that! Amazing how many people have had pants aftercare on your thread isn't it?

LunarSea · 13/04/2007 09:43

foxcub · 13/04/2007 10:27

hi everyone - another fine day might try a picnic

kiwi i'd be cross too about the beer

rosy well done for staying off the chocolate. consider this...breastfeeding uses approx 500 calories a day and a bar of green and blacks only has 525 calories......draw your own conclusions

excuse 1 handed type - monti asleep on my other arm

btw my brest friend is good

dh going to register monti fin....today

eidsvold · 13/04/2007 10:48

no I am in Aus and it was my aussie insurer who said I could drive sooner than 6 weeks if my gp okays it. She did today BUT i am not to go mad and try to restrict my driving to just what i need to do for dd1, gp did say my wound looked fab and that I had healed well.

dh - adorable - came home early from work bearing gift!! a gorgeous pair of diamond earrings - small hoop style with diamonds channel set - just my sort of jewellery. i am so lucky - got gorgeous eternity ring for anniversary and dd2's birth and this time gorgeous earrings!!

kiwibella · 13/04/2007 11:24

my conclusion is... chocolate is my new best friend .

We did the registration yesterday - surprised how easy it was. You don't have long to decide on the ending of Fin.... name!!

kiwibella · 13/04/2007 11:25

and, how lucky are you Eids... he sounds like my kinda guy!! Fab [girn]

kiwibella · 13/04/2007 11:26

Lunar... dh went to Oz when bubs was about three weeks old. I was amazed at how easy things became - I found it more difficult to adapt when he came home!!

First day back at school on Monday - ugh .

kittyhas6 · 13/04/2007 12:56

Hello all, hectic here. Don't get 3 secs to myself, just wanted to say hello and give you all hugs

Ronnie was weighed today, day 5, and has put on 6oz since birth which is immensely reassuring for me as I have not had any engorged boobs and no feeling of milk being let down, which is very strange.

Off to get some of that nipple cream today, ooh they are in a bad way.

Piffle · 13/04/2007 14:39

WE got Finn registered today
Well offically and long he is Finbar Seamus Lawrence...
Anyways Finn has morphed into dream baby, feeds, alert, sleeps again, very easy to settle and will go into bed awake and nod himself off! Vomiting has settled now and we got him to happily take expressed milk from a bottle so see a new role for dp developing one morning
Went out to friends for dinner last night
FedFinn at 9pm, he charmed, fell asleep again, got him home 12am, straight into darkened bedroom, feed, change and he slept til 4 and then til 8.
Brill!

House deathly quiet
ds1 is at his dads til tomorrow, dd has gone to her grannys house at the seaside - we are missing her like MAD and she only went yesterday.

Have rare time on pc as no kids need me!!!

CallieNewMum · 13/04/2007 15:14

Piffle, envy, envy. Jordi just wants attention/holding when awake or else cries. One hand typing here as holding sleeping child in other - watch how fastv he will wake if i try to put him down...grrr...

He's so strong now, "stands" on your lap when holding him.oh there we go he's sort of awake now. going 2 take him out as that will put him 2 sleep, which he needs.

Kiwi, cant believe the beer incident!!!! Incidentally I know what you mean about getting on with it when your DP's away. I found it ok when mine was up north for a week. Ok, it was nice to go to my mums for the last two days though and I did appreciate having my chef back when he returned.

Muppet, what does Samuel weigh now?

sazzy nice 2 hear from you. much respect 2u doing this singlehandedly btw.

Ah bliss, baby in car seat and asleep - aren't they lovely then? Why doesn't anyone tell you about the need to do weight training before you have a baby??

Mossy, hope you are out of hospital and Bertie is doing well. Welcome to the post natal thread whenever you get here.

OP posts:
Piffle · 13/04/2007 15:41

I'm sure Finn will want a lot more attention when he's as old as Jordi

I'm freaked by how strong Finn is too, if he is laying on my chest say and gets windy or cross something he tenses up and straightens his legs and can push himself up on them
he has really good head control as well...
and thighs that quite frankly make finding a nappy a challenge - cannot beleive he was 3 wks old yesterday....
He is robust in the extreme

muppethasakitten · 13/04/2007 18:13

Callie - Samuel is exactly like Jordi... happy as you like when he's on me or being carted around... but don't you dare try and put him down!

I have to say though, that in my sane happy moments i don't mind... i don't have a toddler to worry about - the older 2 are so good at sorting themselves out and helping it's a bit like having your first all over again! Plus it'll prolly be our last baby so i'm trying to enjoy him as much as poss!

He was just over 12lbs yesterday... so Jordi is only ounces away from him - Samuel was 8lb 5oz at birth and he'll be 6 weeks on monday... so Jordi has done remarkably well on the weight front when you remember how early and diddy he was! Well done you!! Basically he's caught right up hasn't he!
Marvellous!

How crazy that there were more than double the amount of boys than girls born on our thread!

Chocolatepenny · 13/04/2007 19:00

Hello everyone glad to see we are all still here. Ted is a handfull at the moment and MWs advice is conflicting, He sleeps about two hours before his next feed which is OK.
Had a bad night last couple of nights as he wakes at 2ish and crys and there is no way he is going back to sleep until 5ish, DP is struggling to keep up!
We are trying to break up his routine tonight.
I am still having a bit of depression relating to the birth, I had a bad time of it! Has anyone else felt that way?
Apart from that we are coping OK everybody says it gets easier so I am going with that!

foxcub · 13/04/2007 20:09

Eids - your Dh sounds fab

Kitty - hope your nips like that cream !!

Kiwi - I agree re the chocolate - I treckon we deserve it don't you?

Piffle - Monti is the same temperament as his namesake Finbar Seamus (fabbo name). He's just so mellow - must be third child syndrome

Chocolate - I had a traumatic birth (or rather Monti did) and I was VERY depressed for first four weeks - felt like I was on a slippery slope downwards - unbeleivably negative etc. It suddenly lifted after I went to my GP and told him my worries (which were around breastfeeding) - I think just having a symapthetic ear actually helped me immensely. Have you anyone you can have a chat with to tell them how crap you feel? I found that just voising it kinda put it all in persepctive - whereas before I'd felt as though the depression was smothering me. nI hope it lifts for you too so you can enjoy your LO [big hugs]

Hope Mossy is doing OK

we went to Marble Hil Park today by the river. Took 3 hours to get kids ready - by which time it was time to feed Monti again, then nappy chnage and another hour has gone by...

did actually get out in the end but fed with a crap latch in park and now nip is sore again - I have realised I actually hate feeding in public - much happier in a quiet room at home. Which is Ok, just means I can't go out for thre next few months

DollyPopsOut · 13/04/2007 20:17

I have tried to add myself to the list but for some reason I cant copy and paste myself in. Please could someone else do the honours - Dolly 19th March Matilda (tilly) 8lb 8oz. We also have Booboo's little boy born 16th March weighing 6lb 4 I think. He is Johnny which I presume is Jonathan. She's not been on for a while - I texted her but haven't heard back so clearly she is still baby mooning! We go to the same Drs so I expect I'll bump into her one day. We seemed to meet there quite often when pregnant!

I have had various texts from Mossy today. She was given rubbish advice from a MW about BF Bertie last night as she was told that some babies just can't latch, but now he is feeding like a dream! She has been kept in another day but hopes to be home tomorrow. He weighs just under 8lb apparently. Can't wait to hear all the details.

Sorry for all those feeling low. I had quite a lot of anxieties etc after DD1 and looking back think I might have been depressed. I certainly cried on a daily, if not hourly, basis. I am much more sorted this time round and I think that is because Tilly is a better sleeper. I can't function on 2 hours sleep in total per night and that is what I was doing with DD1. It could all go tits up though so I am not counting chickens.

We have had a great day today. Park, out for lunch, kip, shopping, bath and bed. Now I hear my first drink calling me. Hope you all have a good weekend.

Big love to all XXXXX

Ooops, sorry about that

Chocpenny, I agree with Foxy that you should talk to someone about the birth. WHen I had DD1, I talked to a consultant MW about my fears relating to birth and it helped enormously. Her role at the hospital is to provide counselling for women both before and after the birth - talking through what happened and why, and what to do about it. She was fab fab fab. Could you see if the hospital where you gave birth had someone similar?

spongecake · 13/04/2007 20:58

just had a quick look at top few posts, but must go to loo before ds wakes up! i was given crap bf advice-wish I hadnt taken it as my milk came down finally- bit late with the c-section- and all the messing with cups and implication I was crap etc left me stressed. Also being offered minging egg sandwich for dinner in hospital isn't really condusive to getting better- sure nurse just pops t garage and gets their leftovers.

did have no-nonsence SENSIBLE mw who said that baby would just have to wait a day for my milk proper and it would not hurt him to wait! unfortuantely she went off duty to be replaced by one of the horrible prison warder mid wives. bitches. if I think about my time in hospital i want to sob very hard indeed

foxcub · 13/04/2007 21:43

I have come to the conslusion that farm animals are given more dignified births with more care than women on the NHS get - well that's my experience after Queen Charlottes - have complained twice and just get letters back full of excuses and porki pies!

TheBlonde · 13/04/2007 22:24

Hi everyone
Wishing you all a restful weekend, it's supposed to be warm and sunny

We are coping okay here despite the lack of sleep. DS keeps waking in the night and joining us in bed. He got hysterical last night as he woke to find me feeding the baby

Baby is still nameless!
She was weighed today and is now 9lb 15 oz
Breastfeeding is getting a bit easier now thankfully.

Rosylily · 13/04/2007 23:30

I'm proud to announce that I jumped on a trampoline today and didn't wee meself

we must need the chocolate to make sweet sweet milk, but I have to stay off it...once I start I can't stop, then I don't eat enough 'good' food... can't poo etc...

Anyway i've been reading about child slavery on cocoa plantations... Is green and blacks fairtrade anyone?
