Here we go girls - Amie, Kiwi, Dixia, Flannelettepyjamas, we can start comparing motherhood notes on this one and wait for the others to arrive one by one. Although I suspect the other thread will be our home until there's critical mass. To those of you still waiting to join the post-natal people - get a move on!!

Have just had the midwife round to check on Toby - and to do his heel prick test which he wasn't amused about - and he's got right back to his birthweight at 6 days old. So he's regained 12oz in just 4 days. All that feeding must have been having some effect then!

Opps Muppet - just realised there is an order to all of this

I'm still miles away...on Planet Monti

spongecake · 10/04/2007 21:07

hi all, hope u all had a nice day.

my ds has been asleep since 6- combination of being awake all day and finally being able to poo after my antbiotics made it a bit hard for him. also his wind problem calmed down- have made special effort to feed him a bit upright. poor love fed like mad then collapsed into a deep sleep.

sounds lovely but keep checking him for breathing and watching the monitor

photoshoot tomorrow for him- all the woolies grannies knitted, then they can be put away. am NOT missing work. didn;t think i would. dp muttering i can go back after 6 months and he can have 6 months.. am really hoping he is joking

AmieR · 10/04/2007 21:30

Been having a few rough days so have been offline so to speak, but feeling a whole lot more positive now so thought I'd sneek a peek at how everyone is doing!

Welcome to this thread ladies who have popped in the last few days! Any new on Mossy?

Joseph is still feeding like a fiend! Has good nights and bad nights, and I have no idea when this thing called a routine will be possible!

He has his first vaccinations on Thursday and I'm a little anxious but I'm sure he'll be fine! Probably handle it a lot better than I will! Its on the same day as Baby clinic so hoping to get him weighed, I reckon he's broken the 8lbs freshold over the last few days! Not bad for an 8 week old! LOL

Attempted swimming this evening... I'm sure I will live to regret this tomorrow morning!

LunarSea · 10/04/2007 22:17

Amie - when you're up to it we'll have to have coffee in Warwick sometime.

LunarSea · 11/04/2007 09:01

We had a good night last night. Toby fed at 11, and then slept through until 3.45, and then again until 6.30. I don't recall ds1 going through with only one nighttime feed until he was a couple of months old.

AmieR · 11/04/2007 09:34

Lunar that sounds great! never one to turn down a mocha!

wow so soon! good lad Toby! Joseph is getting there with his night feeds, 11,2ish, 5 thirtyish!

kiwibella · 11/04/2007 11:26

Kate slept until 6am!! I felt like a new person... it was short lived because she won't sleep during the day and really upsets herself!!! These babies are so confusing

We just had her 6 week check - she has gained a whole kg. I'm proud of her achievement . Discussed this change of sleeping with HV who suggested the baby mooning (or "milky haze") is over but she gave us lots of advice to try out.

evenhope · 11/04/2007 11:37

You've left me out of the stats!!!

kiwibella - 24 February girl / Kate 7lb 14oz
shanks313 - 1 March girl/Deanna 6lb
muppet - 5 March boy/Samuel 8lb 5oz
Foxcub - 6 March boy/Monti 9lbs 3oz
divastrop - 9 March girl/Elsie 7lb 2oz
evenhope - 13 March girl 7lb 1 oz
Jaysecond - 18 March boy/Jensen 11lbs 2ozs
TheBlonde - 22 March girl/tbc, 9lb 8oz
Piffle -22 March - Finn 8lbs 3oz
Eidsvold - 23 March girl/Kate 8lb 4ozs
Laidback - 26 March boy/Amos 8lb 8oz
LunarSea - 4 April boy/Tobias(Toby)9lbs
Kitty - 8 April boy/Ronnie 8lb 4ozs

DD slept from 10.30 to 4.30 last night but then was awake until after 7am. Three hours of please go back to sleep... The eyes would shut and she'd drift off then less than 5 minutes later the arms are pumping and the legs kicking and we are off again. No wonder sleep deprivation is a form of torture.

kittyhas6 · 11/04/2007 11:37

Hello all, haven't had time to read your posts, sorry.

Hope you are all well. Today is the first day since birth that Ronnie hasn't screamed his head off. I sent my dad off to buy some infracol last night and it has really helped.
My nips are crusty and bleeeding from his constant sucking.
It's not been the greatest start in the world. My pelvis is shot to pieces, piles the size of grapes etc. etc.

I don't even think the milk has come in yet. Thought that would ahve happened by now.

Sorry, I'm moany and ever so tired.

Felling a bit overwhelmed by all my children and responsiblities.

muppethasakitten · 11/04/2007 12:13

Kitty - just posted for you on the other thread... glad the infacol has helped a bit... I'm not suprised you're feeling overwhelmed by all your responsibilities and children... you're only human are you not? Most of us are struggling on here with half the amount of children you have!

shanks313 · 11/04/2007 12:27

Hi everyone

Quick question-when do babies usually start to focus etc? Im a little concerned about Deanna as she doesnt follow my hand `when I move it from side to side in front of her,I thought they should be doing his at 6 weeks?
Thanks

Jaysecond · 11/04/2007 13:22

Shamks, remenber no two babies are the same and they all develop at different stages, this is somthing i found on the net, but i think if youre concerned, spk to your doc or HV

'The newborn child's sight

Babies are able to see when they are born. In fact, a newborn baby is even able to focus on things for short periods of time. At the age of two weeks, babies can follow movements, recognise faces and show the first signs of a smile. At the age of four to six weeks, babies can follow and focus on their toys, for example. At the age of two to three months, the sight of their own hands becomes interesting and exciting'

Hi everyone a very knackered , emotional, quivvering wreck of a Mum here.....will i /we ever get sleep again!!!????
Jensens stil being a bugger and wants feeding every cpl of hrs, have been the odd occasion when hes gone 2 1/2 hrs! but nothing more than that, have had the crainial osteopath round three times but we have agreed that there is no more he can do and so i have made an appointment to see the doctor as i think it may be silent reflux ( have posted on other threads about this) anyway i wont go on and bore you but will let you know how i get on later.

Sorry to hear youre having a tough time Kitty, but we are all here for you, so go and moan away, TBH i think we are all in the same boat more or less!

Back later xx

divastrop · 11/04/2007 13:44

i did read the posts yesterday but didnt get time to post.

ive changed Elsies milk cos of her wind(bottom wind rather than burp wind)and she slept for 6 hors last night, which was good.

i had ds1's assesment yesterday to see if he's on the autistic spectrum and the conclusion was that he isnt.so his problems sre caused by my parenting as i originally thought

ds2 had a hearing test this morning and it turns out he cant actually hear very well atall(they suspect glue ear)which explains alot about his inability to concentrate and other behaviour.at least its something that can be treated.

kitty-its not surprising you feel overwhelmed.and if you are anything like me you were probably expecting looking after a new baby to be easy cos youve done it plenty of times.then they come along and remind you they are all different and totally throw you off course

im only just starting to get into the swing of things now Elsie is a month old.starting to....havent quite got the hang of looking after the baby and keeping the house clean and tidy yet.im living in a s**t tip but im too tired to care atm

i really want to tell dp that i love him and think hes wonderful and that i really appreciate the fact that he didnt tell me to eff off during my paranoid mad times, but instead i keep finding myself 'checking' up on him still,as though im trying to find something that suggests i was right all along.and everytime i open my mouth to speak to him all that comes out is moans and complaints.i wish i could stop being such a negative, miserable cow.

AmieR · 11/04/2007 14:07

Kitty - not surprised you're overwhelmed, I'm sure you'll get things all sorted and everything will be awesome.

Diva - 6 hours.. sounds like heaven. Glad you managed to sort the wind out, what was Elsie on and what have you changed it to?

Shanks - If you are worried do speak to your HV, but as Jay says all babies are different, Joseph is 8 weeks old tomorrow, though he will follow things he doesn't always look at DH and I when we are talking to him close up during feeds etc, and there is still no sign of a smile! Will be asking HV tomorrow when we go to the clinic before his injections.

kittyhas6 · 11/04/2007 15:46

Diva, when I'm feeling like I really will never be able to cope now, I tell myself it is only my rather skewed view of things and has nothing to do with how things really are and that helps me.

No news from Mossie yet? I'm impatient to know { taps fingers}
