Here we go girls - Amie, Kiwi, Dixia, Flannelettepyjamas, we can start comparing motherhood notes on this one and wait for the others to arrive one by one. Although I suspect the other thread will be our home until there's critical mass. To those of you still waiting to join the post-natal people - get a move on!!

im waiting for Elsie to wake up and drink her bottle so we can go shoping at asda befor ei have to pick ds2 up from nursery....but shes got the same look on her face that dp has when hes asleep which says'you wake me up and you will regret it'

my routine involves getting Elsie up with the others in the morning and top+tailing her after her feed, then i get her dressed in daytime clothes.wejust do whatever during the day but i try to feed her at certain times(which doesnt always work!!).then after tea when ive tidied up(around 6pm)its bathtime,ds and dd2 get a bath first then i bath Elsie.she has a bottle when ds anddd2 have gone to bed at 7-7.30 then i put her in her moses basket to sleep.when she wakes after that i just feed her and change her and put her back down,i leave the lights off and make as little fuss as possible.

i really need her to wake up now.

foxcub · 03/04/2007 13:01

Diva - I had to wake Monti this morning to get him to feed, so I could get to pick up DD afterwards.

Now of course, he won't go to sleep...

muppethasakitten · 03/04/2007 13:42

Routine.... routine???... Que???

shanks313 · 03/04/2007 14:44

Hi

We had our first visit to baby clinic today and Deanna was weighed.Shes put on almost 2lb since birth.
I asked about her feeding and the HV said to up her bottle by 1oz which I already started doing yesterday and Deanna has been so much more settled.
Last night we went to bed at around 11,she was up at 3 and then at 7 for feeds.Which is good compared to the last week.

LaidbackinEngland · 03/04/2007 16:23

Hi all... hope you are all well

Piffle - I have the AP knickers ! They are very supportive and whilst not really that sexy are not your typical girdle. Totally agree that they help support your back until everything has realigned.

All here OK - midwife visited us for heel prick and vit k today. So horrid to see them in pain

Amos still being good at night - it could all change though !

Piffle · 03/04/2007 16:33

Finn slept through his heel prick and first weigh in last week.
He is 12 days today and has put on 1 lb 2 oz

HV joked that I had gold top milk Either that or concrete

Lucky you at nights Laidback although I seem to be coping really well with the disrupted sleep - DP is RUBBISH and he does not even wake up properly when Finn wakes up as Finn barely squawks at a nappy change at night...
Men pah
I told him to use the spare bed tonight if he is sooo tired
He did at least pretend to be ashamed...

AmieR · 03/04/2007 18:53

I'm deffo in the "routine? whats that?" school!

Is my first period supposed to be mammoth?

divastrop · 03/04/2007 21:13

amie-i dont know about first periods afetr first babies as i never had onebut i know after ds2 my first one was pretty heavy.they settled back down to normal after the third one iirc.

divastrop · 03/04/2007 23:17

is there a list of everybody on this and the ante-natal thread somewhere still?i want to put a photo of Elsie up but i only want certain people to be able to see it iyswim.

foxcub · 04/04/2007 09:00

Make sure I can see Elsie Diva!

Monti has taken too gulping his milk really quickly then vomming it down my back, then wanting the breast again half an hour later . Had to give him formula last night just so he's settle, as he was so hungry and fidgety.

Now he's in a deep sleep emanating deep farts!

muppethasakitten · 04/04/2007 10:20

Foxy - at monti's farts... Sam does the same... bloody men!

Really must learn to keep my big mouth shut... worried yesterday at HV clinic that Samuel wasn't awake ever much.... cue him waking up at 5pm and not so much as closing his eyes until 1am this morning... oh yeah... plus with lots of crying!! Garrghhh!

Off to St George's, Tooting, this arvo to check his hernia - hope it's gone so he doesn't need to have operation

I think poor old Mossy is going to be on her ownsome on the antenatal thread soon!

foxcub · 04/04/2007 11:36

DS1 is very impressed at Monti's farting skills - specially when they are accompanied by a windy smile

Good luck at the hossie Muppet - I bet samuel sleeps all day now!

Was just about to feed Monti and he's dropped off to sleep - after yowling for the last 5 minutes while I tried to hurredly eat some food before feeding him.

Is everyone finding time to eat?

A friend of mine said that she and her DH got so used to rushing their food, after their first son was born, that when they eventually got to have a night out and went to a local restaurant, th4ey managed to scoff an entire three course meal in 45 minutes!!

Piffle · 04/04/2007 12:30

reporting inbetween feeding frenzies here
every 1.5- 2 hrs
yawn....
why???
2 wks tomorrow!! too early for a growth spurt - his life is one big growth spurt atmmm

divastrop · 04/04/2007 16:57

i got Elsie weighed today and shes now 8lb9,so shes put nearly 1lb on since last monday.i only had her weoghed cos the clinic is in the childrens centre attached to ds2's nursery and when i was picking him up the hv asked if i was waiting for the clinic.i'd totally forgotten that you're meant to get babies weighed.i think dd2 was last weighed when she was 8 months.

Elsie is fast asleep atm.shes normally stays awake after her teatime feed then settles after the evening one about 8.30 ish.

i am going to the family planning clinic this evening

muppethasakitten · 04/04/2007 18:06

Waited AGES at St Georges for the consultant to spend 2 minutes prodding Sam's tummy and say "There's nothing there!"

... What did the 2 paediatricians feel at the hospital when he was born? I asked?

... an undescended testicle perhaps, replied the specialist.

... both testicles were clearly palpable at the time... says so on his discharge notes... so can't have been that...

... could the hernia have popped back in behind the stomach wall? i asked...

... No, that would be incredibly strange... was his reply

So now i'm wondering wtf did these people feel in his tummy? Do you think i should pursue this further???

Anyway... glad Elsie is putting on weight well diva. Sam's put on 3lb in the 4 weeks he's been out in the big world. My mother in law (she of the helpful comments to make you feel good about yourself [NOT]) said that was a worry and may store up problems later on with heart disease etc and told me i should limit his feeds more...

LaidbackinEngland · 04/04/2007 19:07

muppet MILs can be so tactless... mine said to me "he's very boss eyed isn't he " .... felt like saying .." no he just doesn't want to look directly into your eyes in case he turns to stone! "

LaidbackinEngland · 04/04/2007 19:27

muppet - I asked DH about Samuel's hernia and he said they can pop back in themselves, particularly umbilical hernias. He suggested that you keep an eye on it. You are most likely to feelit if he is in a sitting position or if he coughs. HTH. ( he hasn't done paediatrics for a long time tho' so maybe check with GP again if you are worried)

foxcub · 04/04/2007 19:49

WTF Muppet - your MIL is something else!!!

I know nothing about hernias so will defer to laidback's DP's greater knowledge!

laidback - PMSL about turning to stone

Monti has lost loads of weight since he was born but seems really alert and healthy, does wees and poos etc so I am currently avoiding HV! I seem to recall both of my older ones also lost weight in the first few weeks....

muppethasakitten · 04/04/2007 19:59

Thanks for that laidback - didn't know your dh was medical!! Very handy... will keep eye on it... mad isn't it though, the amount of different opinions you can get from doctors and surgeons... this chap today was adamant that such a thing would not have occured! To be honest though i struggled to understand what he was saying as his accent was so strong... got cos i had to ask him to repeat himself several times... felt like the "Fat Fighters" character from Little Britain who keeps asking the Indian lady to repeat herself even though you can understand what she's saying... then got even more thinking in my usual paranoid way that he might think i was taking the piss.... garrrghghhh....

What is it with our mils?? You've reminded me that mine did indeed also mention Sam looked a bit boss eyed!!

Wish i'd had the wit to think of a repost such as yours! (prolly wouldn't have been brave enough to say it though either)

divastrop · 04/04/2007 21:43

muppet-at your mil's suggestion to put your 4 week old baby on a diet!

my ds1 gained weight very quickly as a baby.he was 7lb 10 born and was 28lb by 12 months.but now he's only 5 inches shorter than me at age 9 so obviously hes going to be tall+big built.

she sounds like one of those mil's who will be telling you to start solids at 6 weeks and saying 'isnt he potty trained yet?' on his first birthday

i have to go back to family planning in the morning to get my IUS fitted.i was supposed to have swabs done and wait a week but she said its ok cos i had swabs done the other week cos of my infection, and the ab's will have got rid of owt nasty.the doc has squeezed me in before the clinic actually starts.i must have looked desperate or something

divastrop · 04/04/2007 22:41

i have put some pictures up of Elsie and made them 'visible to my mumsnet mates'(?),i had to get the list from the march stats thread so i may have got some names wrong.

foxcub · 04/04/2007 23:05

oh can't find your pic of Elsie Diva

kittywaitsfornumber6 · 05/04/2007 08:49

Diva, I can't see any pics either. Get it sorted would you ?

Piffle · 05/04/2007 10:54

thank god for my MIL she is a sweety. I don't think I'd cope with one like yours muppet... Mind you DP copes with my mum and she is erm an acquired taste so to speak.

Gorgeous day!!!! out for a walk methinks!

Finn too has piled on the weight and is feeding like he is starved every 2 hrs still...
In 2 weeks he has put on 1lbs 4 oz, he is fully breastfed

My ds was the same, doubled his birthweight at 8 wks (was 7lbs 11 born) at 13 he is 5ft 4 and has size 7 feet

DD is our dainty little lass, she is ultra petite... Eats like a horse though - I think she stole my metabolism, I used to be able to eat monster portions and never put on weight - since having her that has gone

muppethasakitten · 05/04/2007 11:40

Thanks for that diva and piffle - my mil had 3 boys and never breastfed any of them at all, i think she is secretly a little that i've managed to bfeed mine to good effect... she usually throws in a little comment about bfeeding mothers just to put me down too!
I just think Sam is going to take after my side of the family where all the men are very tall (I'm 5'10" and my sis is 6ft so the women aren't short either!) so he's bound to be hungry etc

Diva - you must let me know how you go with the IUS - are you happy that the womb infection has gone?

Kitty... do you reckon you've been abandoned on this thread then??? no mossy or runningal yet??? Perhaps mossy is nursing a b'day hangover!
