Here we go girls - Amie, Kiwi, Dixia, Flannelettepyjamas, we can start comparing motherhood notes on this one and wait for the others to arrive one by one. Although I suspect the other thread will be our home until there's critical mass. To those of you still waiting to join the post-natal people - get a move on!!

callie-my womb is still producing gunk(sorry TMI).
have posted on the ante-natal thread about things with dp as there was nobody here and i get confused what thread im on once i get started

jay-sorry to hear you're having a hard time.dont feel bad about getting upset with jensen though,i remember dd2 when she was about 5 weeks was getting terrible wind and wouldnt settle, and one night i was sat by her moses basket at midnight crying my eyes out and saying'i want to get steralised' over and over.
im sure he will settle when the infection clears up.have you done any baby massage before?there are facial strokes which help with blocked noses etc,and chest massage as well.ive been doing the tummy ones on Elsie every night cos they are brilliant for getting wind out.

divastrop · 01/04/2007 22:00

shanks-my ds2 was having 9 8oz feeds a day at 6 weeks and the hv told me it was too much.he got very constipated as well, that was on the SMA huungry baby milk.he got colic really bad at 8 weeks and a different hv told me to try him on aptamil, which i did and within 24 hours he was pooing fine and had gone back down to six 6oz feeds a day,and i never had to put him on the hungry baby version either.

dd2 wouldnt settle on aptamil though, and i put her on cow+gate which she loved.they are all different

AmieR · 01/04/2007 22:28

Jay - I've spent many a night at the side of the moses basket sobbing, and I'm sure I'll be doing a few more times in the up and coming month!

Joseph's cold is slightly easing up, I can't wait for it to clear up completely as I've not been able to sleep easily (when I get chance) as I've got one ear open for every little snuffle he makes!

My bleeding is very sporadic and I'm not sure whether its a period or still something to do with the birth.

Hope everyone had a nice weekend.

Any news on any new arrivals?

foxcub · 02/04/2007 11:14

Hi - oh dear - sorry to hear about the babies crying all the time with infections and colic . Its so distressing, specially when you've had no sleep yourself either

Monti's being great atm(touch wood), he's very laid back. I have a secret weapon, which is the orange gel I have to give him after each feed for the thrush. He loves it so I put it on his dummy in order to get it into his mouth and that means he spends a lot of time in orange flavoured sucking bliss!!

he's in my bed and snuggles up to me each night...[babymoon emoticon]

However, I was feeding him on Saturday morning about 2am and heard a horrible drunken fight outside in the street. Lots of swearing and then some crashing like a car being damaged. When we went out on Saturday (to take the kids to a party - they were all dressed up and excited) we realised some yobs had smashed our car windscreen with a lump of concrete . How mindless is that??? Meant no party and spent all day Saturday trying to get it fixed.

Anyway - everytime I feed Monti, he squirts poo out of the other end (LOL at Armageddonappy Callie )- just small amounts, but enough to smell fruity

have dropped the formula top up at night now (as boobs were getting engorged and needed to be fed off) so he's totally on the breast - have one brill boob and one sore one still, but hey...

isn't the weather fab?

Just think - we have months of great weather ahead of us now girls, as our babies also get bigger and easier

foxcub · 02/04/2007 11:15

ps. they will get easier

Chocolatepenny · 02/04/2007 11:19

HI all
I haven't had time to read all your posts, just the bit about baby blues. I had that on friday and yesterday, bursting out in tears etc.
Teddy is sleeping for two hours between feeds at a time through the night so its managable now. That makes a huge difference!
Drop back in soon, Is that everybody with our babies now? will just have to drop into other thread to see..

Piffle · 02/04/2007 11:27

You forget how truly stressful the nights can be - and truly awful when they are ill like Jensen, tell yourself it's not for long, one day at a time - any chance family can hlep with your older child so you can feed sleep feed sleep with Jensen Amie?

I mean Finn has only had one rough night and that sent me into floods,he was very unsettled, howling not in pain oddly though just pissed off with something or other
I was in tears as well, soothing him with the boob worked but then he chucked up the lot.
So plan A was scuppered.

At 4 am I went downstairs and the minute I left my bedroom I relaxed, I swaddled Finn really tight, lay him in the crook of my arm, buried his head next to mine and we slept on the couch for 2.5 hrs.
And of course the next day, DP was the really tired one not so tired that he fell into bed at 9pm, no... so tired he stayed up til 12am playing bloody pc goblin crunching games!!!!

I "tweaked" Finns afternoon pattern which delightfully consisted of sleeping through 5-9pm
Now it consits of catnaps, baths, nappy changes, feeds and general keeping awake.
Last night got him settled at 9pm and though sod it, I'm going to bed too.
He slept til 12
Bliss. I think in total I got 9 hrs last night - be it broken into3 lots of 2 hrs and one 3 hrs.

is anyone else baby regularly losing an entire feed?
Finn has vommed spectacularly his first morning feeds today and yesterday, he is piling on the weight otherwise happy and feeds again an hour later perfectly kept down.

the washing though

I don't care anyway, I got back into my jeans yesterday. Bliss I feel vaguely human again

Cannot say it loud enough
Post natal support girdle = dogs bollocks

muppethasakitten · 02/04/2007 12:47

Thanks for that jay - can't wait for our appt next week - am hoping they will help Sam and his windy-ness!

Diva at your infection - is it making you feel really grotty?

It's a worry about all this being told you're over/under feeding - seems to me each babe is different so if your baby seems happy and isnt constipated etc i would be tempted to ignore the hv... i've
heard some really ridiculous tales about things they've come out with to mothers...

Piffle - Samuel's lost a couple of feeds with some spectacular vomits - but as you say - he's putting on weight like a good'un and keeps the next one down... just a waste of milk is all!!!

kittywaitsfornumber6 · 02/04/2007 18:44

Hello all

It's all quiet and lonely on the other thread, I think the others have all gone away. If ever I do go into labour then I'd be better off posting here I think.

Sorry, haven't read your posts, but is there alot of illness about/ My kids have all come down with another stinking cold, hacking cough Grrrrr.

muppethasakitten · 02/04/2007 18:58

it is all a bit quiet isn't it!

ds1 had a cough that seemed to go on and on and on... now he has a stinky snotty cold

... i can feel myself going down with it... really don't want Samuel to get it!

dd is hale and hearty as every... she has such an iron constitution

however, there is a really nasty vomiting bug doing the rounds... thank god school is over for a couple of weeks... we could get away with it!

Where is everyone then? Are you thinking you might labour tonight then Kitty?

foxcub · 02/04/2007 19:59

Piffle - what's a post natal support girdle when its at home?

Kitty - that's really pants about the kids being sick - poor you

Got no idea whether Monti is putting on any weight (he'd lost quite a lot) but he's feeding 3 hourly now and seems content and is weeing/pooing etc.

I agree it just adds to the anxiety when we're told we're over/under feeding etc

kittywaitsfornumber6 · 02/04/2007 20:04

God who knows Muppet, probably not. I've no reason to think I will. Think I'll have a stuuby beer or two .

Jaysecond · 02/04/2007 20:55

grrrrrrr DS now has thrush due to his antibiotics..... DH and i are managing to dodge colds, but i think lack of sleep is bringing down the immuneity, we are both suffering headaches, and i have real bad sciatica which is grinding me down......am i moaning too much????
Going to put some new pics up on my profile, will let you know when!

divastrop · 02/04/2007 21:40

jay-you cant moan too much when you have a new baby.

im starting to get obsessivley worried about the amount of 'awake time' Elsie has during the day,im getting a bit edgy now cos shes only been awake about 3 hours in total today.mind you,she was awake for ages yesterday and still didnt settle very well last night.i dont get up though if shes awake in the night i just keep putting her dummy back in and dozing back off to sleep.i suppose its for the best in the long run if she never gets any attention in the night.

piffle-congrats on getting back into your jeans.i can get into jeans but wont be happy till i can get into my size 10's and that wont be for a long while yet.

divastrop · 02/04/2007 21:41

jay-you will ahve to get some of that stuff fox's Monti loves so much

Jaysecond · 02/04/2007 23:00

yeah Diva, my MW came round this morning and she managed to get the doc to write me a perscription for the Daktarin cream. I picked it up this afternoon and have used it since, hopefully it will help his poor little bum!

I seem to constantly get up to DS in the night, at least every two hours, have tried a dummy for him, but at the moment i dont think he knows how to keep it in, he sucks so vigorously that he spits it out, this leads me to thinking that he really IS hungry then i feel bad that i dont feed him....! Still when the MW weighed him today, hes now 11lbs 10ozs, so i cant complain... at least my 'work' is paying off and hes gaining good weight

Who has a routine in lace already? what kinda thing do you do , if anything? feed at certain times, bathing etc????

Best go hes waking up!

foxcub · 03/04/2007 10:31

Jay my only routine is the feeds, which I keep at 3 to 3.5 hours - I have to do this just so I can get out of the house to do the school run. If he wants to feed early, I stick a dummy in with some Daktarin orange gel on until feeding time - but if he is asleep when a feed is due I'll wake him and change him to waken him properly so he'll feed. I got into a real panic on Friday when his feed fell at the same time as the school run - I actually went and collected DD early so I could get back and feed!!

Everything else is completely haywire with no routine though!

R U BFing Jay? If so, you need the Daktarin cream for yer nips and the yummy orange gel for his mouth.

Right off to wake Monti for his 10.30 feed!

foxcub · 03/04/2007 10:33

Has anyone been to one of those "baby cafe" places? There's one near us, w3hich I haven't ventured to yet. Was just wondering what they're like?

kittywaitsfornumber6 · 03/04/2007 10:41

Foxy, are those baby cafes where you can order a new baby if yours is too squeaky and noisy?

Piffle · 03/04/2007 11:27

Routines Ha Ha Ha if only I was organised enough to even notice
I know Finn has two good naps in the day.
Up at 7-8am feeds, joins family hullaballoo for breakfast, winds down with nappy change and getting dressed and washed.

Sits in his bouncy chair or crib while mummy showers/washes gets herself and dd dressed around 9-9.30
He just tags around with us while we hoover and sort washing and then sleeps after another feed, not sure maybe 10.30-12.30?

Afternoons he does the same really, we try to keep him up a little more from 4pm, bath/strip wash, catnaps. He then heads down for the day between 8-9pm.
But can easily feed every 2 hrs at night or sometimes go 4 hrs
I never can tell

post antal support girdle is this

here

I truly recommend it, takes the weight of supporting your slack tummy muscles off your back for a start and that saves untold lower back pain.
I'm not kidding, I'm back in my skinny jeans, bit of toning to go when I can exercise again but pretty much back to normal
I did snap back pretty fast with the other two but jeans were 6 wks at the earliest.
I thought it was a gimmick but had a couple of "london" friends convince me to try it!

I probably sound really shallow but I detest being pregnant, I am really a jeans and t shirt lass and never feel truly at home until I'm back in my uniform

Must say though these mahoosive boobs are taking some getting used to carting around

foxcub · 03/04/2007 12:07

Kitty - that's right - "I want my money back!!"

Piffle - that looks fab - I'd read about them and now WANT ONE!!!

LunarSea · 03/04/2007 12:30

Piffle - looks good - but a bit at them describing size 14 as XL. A bit depressing for those of us whose bones are bigger than that!

Piffle · 03/04/2007 12:46

They come from china
14 is mahoosive there
That's all

Piffle · 03/04/2007 12:50

of for those more inclined for something sexy
Agent Provocateur do the dogs bollocks one

with detachable suspender straps

foxcub · 03/04/2007 12:52

Piffle - dogs bollox? you mean a girdle with dogs bollox hanging off?

I mean, call me old fashioned, but.....
