Here we go girls - Amie, Kiwi, Dixia, Flannelettepyjamas, we can start comparing motherhood notes on this one and wait for the others to arrive one by one. Although I suspect the other thread will be our home until there's critical mass. To those of you still waiting to join the post-natal people - get a move on!!

Rosylily · 30/03/2007 13:23

Oh and I've been on the go all morning but I'm still not dressed!

LaidbackinEngland · 30/03/2007 14:02

It must be the day for being headbutted ! I just got headbutted by DS2 accidentally as I was helping him with his shoes. I think you can take everything personally when you have jsut had a baby and so I had to work really hard not to shout at him even though it bloody hurt.

Piffle · 30/03/2007 14:05

Oh Rosy that brings back memories of grim days with ds1
He had his first vacc and I was so constipated, he was asleep so took the chance and went to "try"

He awoke screaming with a fever, was sick everywhere. It was awful chaos, me halfway to sorting out constipation, him alternating between feeding and puking
I cried for 24 hrs afterwards.
Sometimes being a first time mum sucks, you feel soooo out of control. At least with Finn screaming this time, while ym heart bled for him. I was able to stay calm and soothing knowing it would end.
Anyway he is being a little lamb chopsicle angel today.
3 boobs - well ya know what I mean[ wink], trust me I have enough bosomage to nurture an entire ward of babies [

DollyPopsOut · 30/03/2007 15:00

Hi girls

Sorry that you have an infection Diva - hope it clears up soon and you start to feel better.

Been suffering with the old constipation as well - need to put my feet on DD1's step up stool to be able to go. Very sore, however many prunes I neck in th eday time.

Sorry for everyone with sore boobs / thrush. So far have escaped that. DD2 still yellow after 12 days and so monday if still yellow have to go back to vile kings to see what's going on. Am feeding like a demon. And eating like one. Am going to be huge again - only a few more weeks til the sensisble eating resumes.

DD still well below her birthweight, despite all the feeding - anyone got any suggestions?

Am also a hormonal wreck - bus driver wouldn't let me on with the double buggy so I swore and burst into tears on the roadside. Shoppers were looking at me as if I was bonkers but I couldn't help it! Felt a bit calmer later on in the day but it doen'st take much to tip me over!

Hope everyone is going to have a relaxing weekend

DollyPopsOut · 30/03/2007 15:03

PS must be something in the air ...DD1 slapped DD2 deliberately yesterday and so was timed out in the hall to calm down. She was crying, I was crying, DD2 was crying. Think DH wanted to lave the house and shut the door on the lot of us!

Rosylily · 30/03/2007 15:26

I imagine it's really easy to get constipated when bf if not taking loads of fluids. I know I need to drink more!

Dolly that horrible bus driver

Well I'm not getting anywhere fast today, at least we are all bathed now and mostly dressed, though dd is running around in one of my tops cuz its pink

Hasan is finally sleeping, I hope he sleeps for a bit now, I seem to have been futtering about with him all day so far.

I still have to pack and the house is a massive mess, if anyone breaks in when we are gone they will think someone else got here first!

foxcub · 30/03/2007 17:04

Rosy - you are very brave setting off on hols/travels with a newborn. I can barely make it to the school! Where are you off to?

Dolly - if your DD is feeding loads that should hopefully get rid of the jaundice. If its any consolation Monti has lost loads of weight since he was born. He can out long and chubby and now he's long and thin! Hoepfully she'll have a little growth spurt for you.

Piffle - so infacol works does it? I was never sure with Ds1 it actualy worked. Might try it for Monti as he's quite windy.

AmieR · 30/03/2007 18:34

Dolly - I would have cried too I think! I can't believe that!

Fox - we've found Infacol does work for Joseph, but I think, to get its full effect it is better to give it before every meal, so I heard!

We all have colds no fun at all. Poor Joseph sounds like darth vadar and could not settle at all last night, it was a very frustrating time. Any one have anytips for easing their discomfort as I know you can't actually give them anything medicinal... HV suggested bringing them into the bathroom when you're showering.

Rosylily · 30/03/2007 18:52

fox, off to Navan and Cork, if I ever manage to get out of here!

foxcub · 30/03/2007 19:45

Rosy - ooh sounds lovely - wil you still be online to tell us of your adventures?

DollyPopsOut · 30/03/2007 20:14

Thanks Foxcub, that makes me feel better. DD1 took ages to regain her birthweight and so perhaps it's the way I make them! Might start a quick thread in feeding just to see if Tiktok is around and can save my sanity (possibly a few years too late for the sanity but never mind)

Rosy, have a wonderful trip and look forward to hearing all about it.

Colds = try a nasal aspirator. You basically put a tube near the nostril and suck the snot out, so the baby can feed better. Hope this helps

More later.

PS Saw DT on Graham Norton last night and was surprised to fancy him. He's rather too thin and short for my taste usually, but phwoar!!!!!!!!!!!

divastrop · 30/03/2007 21:06

theres defo something in the air then,i feel less like im going insane and failing to cope now

dolly-at the bus driver.i had a hissy fit on tuesday cos dp and i were going to visit his gran(who is more like a mum to him)but i didnt realise that the bus we had to get was one of the old style ones where you have to fold the buggy up.so there were dp and i trying to manage 2 babies and 2 pushchairs(which only i know how to fold)while im going on about'buses in this effing town are like something out of the effing dark ages, theyve had low-floor buses down south for years, and you dont have to pay for kids'blah blah blah, while the old grannies and the bus driver looked on disaprovingly.

the driver on the way back actually got out and helped us with the buggies though

i remember ds1 having bad jaundice due to all the drugs i had in labour, plus he wasnt feeding very well cos i never managed to get bf established.he had that phototherapy in hospital before i took him home,do they not do that anymore?

DollyPopsOut · 31/03/2007 09:12

I think the feeling is quite common Diva. Plus you have got your womb infection which can't be making you feel good. I think we just have to battle on as best we can. A lot of the time I am a complete wreck about the most stupid things but I can't help it. Something daft can send me right over the edge. I suppose it's just the hormones settling down.

Pleased your bus driver was helpful. I have never folded my buggy to get on a bus as there is always too much rubbish in the tray underneath and DD1 was too much of a handful to manage by myself when I was pregnant. Now I have 2 to battle with, I think getting them out of the buggy is less likely. I agree about folding them though - seems to be a uniquely feminine skill .

Am feeling more robust today. Let/s hope it lasts. Hope you are all well. Just popping over to the AN thread to see how the famous five are doing. XXXX

DollyPopsOut · 31/03/2007 09:14

Sorry Diva completely misread your first line . Glad that you are feeling less bonkers now. I hope mine passes off soon. I think Elsie is a couple of weeks older than Tilly though, which gives me hope that shortly I will be a bit more on an even keel .

Sorry for the confusion.

Piffle · 31/03/2007 12:17

Mmmm DT is rather do able isn't he.
Dp looked rather chuffed that I displayed any interest in doing the do, even if it wasn;t directed at him
With dd my libido took years to return, possibly only returning as I desp wanted to conceive again!

looks like it was just a one off with the colicky night, I blame the white wine (my how many times have I said THAT in my life)

He has been an absolute treasure, settling into his own routine which astonishes me as I have NO routine at all.

He was weighed again today, has put on another 4 1/2 oz in 4 days. He's 8lb 14 1/2 now from 8lbs 3oz born and is 9 days old.
Already outgrown all newborn stuff
Apparently my uterus is lovely and back to where it should be.

I'm Suffering big loss of appetite though, finding dinner no problem but not wanting to eat during the day... Not like me at all.

Also Finn has the snuffles pretty bad esp at night, midwife said best to let him get it out on his own sneezing and coughing and feeding as it helps develop their ENT system for future infections. Sounds awful though.

Sorry to hear so many of you suffering the blues and hormonal highs and lows.
I'm venturing out in small bursts, doing only essentials...

oooh also got a post natal support girdle (so glam... NOT) to help the tummy muscles knit back together. I'll let you know should I look like Elle McPherson next week...

divastrop · 31/03/2007 14:22

dolly-i meant that ,although i am going insane and finding it hard to cope,i felt better knowing i wasnt the only one experiencing ups and downs iyswim.so you were right the first time.

that said,i really thought all the david tennant fancying was a result of extremely weird pregnancy hormones(it was the only logical explaination as far as i could see).imto see people still find him attractive post-baby.does nobody actually fancy their oh's or am i completley insane?!

Jaysecond · 31/03/2007 21:21

hey all, hows it going with the newbies? I dont seem to have any free time to myself, let alone free PC time.... Things here are ok. Jensen is still a frantic feeder, going for little more than 2 hrs at a time before wanting more food, its getting a bit exhausting to be honest, and i am not able to get the catch up sleep in the day as DD is just starting to 'play up' and wont settle for a nap....still am guessing it wont go on forever! The poor little man has also had a bad cold ( piffle its horrid isnt it) i had to take him to the docs when he started with a really bad cough. Hes also bringing up green phleghm and when he sneezes his mucus is green the doc managed to look at his throat and he reckons he has a thraot and possibly an ear infection and there was me thining that breastfeeding was giving him the best start by way of immunity from all the crap colds etc. Alas, nope, he has had to have a course of penicillin to see if it stops it before it reaches his chest and develops into something more serious...he sounds like hes in so much pain its horrid

Have my brothers Daughters christening tomorrow, hopefully Jensen will be ok and not cry too much! Anyone else having hteir LO's christened? I dint have DD done, but we are thinking of having a naming ceremony in the summer, then following it with a party in the garden, anyone else done this?

Have popped onto the due in March thread to offer my support to the mums in waiting, wonder who will be the last to go ?

Anyway, going for a bath b4 he wakes, hope you are all well, check out some new pics on peanutmonkey

hugs to all xx

Jaysecond · 31/03/2007 21:23

BTW Diva, i fancy the pants of my DH, yOU can all keep DT to yourselves!!!!

shanks313 · 31/03/2007 23:01

Hi,

I dont get sall this DT loving lol,Im obsessed with Michael Shanks in Stargate, met the guy 4 times so far

Deanna is doing good but she seems to like settling on me at the moment,we put her in the moses and she wakes up again.

We are not getting Deanna christened but on the 21st April we are having a meet the baby day for family and friends.Just sorting out the invites now.

foxcub · 01/04/2007 14:49

Jay - we're getting Monti baptised. Will probably wait until June when the weather is nicer...

Dr Who was great last night wasn't it?

Monti is pooing after each feed now - kind od mustard green (sorry TMI ) hee hee. Think its the medicine we're on..

muppethasakitten · 01/04/2007 15:53

Foxy - just posted on other thread - is monti still colicky? Samuel is responding with infacol but still gets pain i think - have been recommended to a cranial osteopath... anybody any experience of one?

CallieNewMum · 01/04/2007 19:01

Hello gang, hasn't it been a lovely day? My mum's up and we took her to a stately home and gardens and had an emergency picnic courtesy of a nearby Asda in the grounds after we found the cafe had closed down. It was for the best as it was lovely in the sun and LO slept beautifully in the fresh air.

Shanks, you know you said a while back Deanna was on 140ml per feed - how many feeds is she having? And what was her weight at the time? Btw, do you pronounce her name Dee-anna, or Dina? I've been meaning to ask that for ages.

Jay, I've been thinking about a naming ceremony for Jordi, but not sure when to do it or where. Some of my extended family members are coming down in the summer tho, so that is a possibility. It'd be nice to have some welcoming occasion for him anyway.

Diva, hope your womb is better - sounded nasty. And hope things with your DP are ok too.

Fox, Jordi poos once every 24-36 hours generally but when it comes... we call it Armageddonappy. I say we - funny how DP has only had ONE of them to deal with on his morning shift! How many times do other people's DPs change nappies, I'd like to know?

Is Boo still around at all? Boo if you are reading this, can you let me know how you find your Bugaboo now you've actually got a child to put in it.

Oh well, we've made it to april and still have undelivered babies. If one of the antenatalers hangs on until the 8th, they'll have spanned three months exactly. Can people who haven't already done so add themselves to the arrivals list if they get the chance. I got lost with dates following a run of arrivals all together, sorry.

Jaysecond · 01/04/2007 19:44

muppet, i took DD to see a crainial osteopath when she was about 12 weeks, she was a really cryee baby, i had three sessions and it worked wonders! I have had one out to see Jensen as hes the same, last week in fact, he said he seemed ok and his plates ( in his head) werent too disaligned, although there was a slight twist somewhere.....i dont really understand it all but i will try anything.
I /we are having a bad time of it with Jensen, when hes not sleeping he is screaming his head off, the only way to pacify him is with the boob, then it kinda throws me as i dont know how when or for how long his feeds are taking, its a bit of a nightmare to be honest, i know hes in pain with this infection he has so i dont like him to cry as i thin thats going to hurt his throat even more, we are getting little or no sleep at night time, DH is quite good, he wakes up with me and gives me some support, i really thought i was cracking up last night, he didnt go to sleep properly till about 2 then he woke up every hour or so.... i thought, allbeit briefly, oh my god i dont think i can cope with two kids and no sleep, why have we got another one.....i was swearing and being a really horrid person to DH and was 'asking' Jensen why he was crying and why wouldnt he let me have sleep.....i feel rotten after i have been horrid but i cant help it...am sure things will get better in a few weeks time. Is anyone else having a hard time or am i the only mum who feels like she cant cope with it all?? any advice ladies?

shanks313 · 01/04/2007 21:13

Callie-I was told by the HV that Deanna was having too much, she said for her weight we should only be giving her 90ml.Shes about 7.5lb.Im going to ask at clinic again as Deanna is still hungry after most feeds.

I feel the same way about coping.Deanna cries alot at night and wont settle unless shes lying on me.My DH has just started a new job so majority of weekdays Im doing the day and night care alone. Can be very tiring and lonely at times.

kiwibella · 01/04/2007 21:48

Jeepers Jay, your evening sounds exactly like ours on Friday. I have never felt so helpless!! We've had a busy weekend and I enjoyed a friend's party last night, leaving a sleeping baby home with dh . It was exciting to choose underwear that didn't include a maternity bra!! I'm wondering how our days will be thrown out now we have dd at home for the hols.

We're not having Kate christened either but will probably have a naming ceremony to bless her. I am considering something in the garden too - since we had her at home it would be nice to do that here too.
