Here we go girls - Amie, Kiwi, Dixia, Flannelettepyjamas, we can start comparing motherhood notes on this one and wait for the others to arrive one by one. Although I suspect the other thread will be our home until there's critical mass. To those of you still waiting to join the post-natal people - get a move on!!

I've got a lovely sleepy baby, but the other children and dh are screwing up my sleep
Though he only sleeps when cuddled. Won't settle on his own...spoilt rotten already? Oh well there's no shortage of cuddlers, and I like having him in with me at night...so cute. Dh has to wander around in search of an empty bed at night Mine is full of children.

divastrop · 29/03/2007 12:06

i feel like some sort of evil dictator now for bathing Elsie every night.i just find it easier to start the routine straight away.when ds and dd1 were babies there was no routine for the first 6 weeks and i never got any sleep whatsoever.now i have to get up at 6.30am whether ive slept or not so i have to have some sort of order.

Elsie is a ver windy baby and whinges alot when i put her down.im totally useless at getting wind up as well.im thinking of trying her with a different milk cos ds1 was the same till i changed his milk.

she has smiled at dp and i a few times since yesterday.its s o cute.

i got my swab results from the docs yesterday and it turns out i have a strep A infection in my womb,a pretty nasty one the doc said.i tried googling it but i found out it can cause toxic shock syndrome and other nasties so i wish i'd stayed in blissful ignorance.

i weighed myself again yesterday and i'd put on 8lb in 5 days.i have been eating rather alot of chocolate but i dont think anybody can put fat weight on that fast,so i assume its water retention.just hope my bp hasnt gone up again.

take care all x

I totally agree with you Diva - and I've only got one other child!! But, I like to think that I am instilling some sort of routine into our lives already. That routine sort of changes from day to day depending on how and when Kate sleeps... but I need to be available for dd at the beginning and end of the school day. We also bathe Kate at least every other day. Not because she needs it but because she and her big sister like it. She usually goes in the shower with dd on her nights and other nights Kate goes in the baby bath. Kate looks so relaxed as she spreads out and lets the world go by .

I have had an awful cold - wake up during the night drenched as my body tries to sweat it out - and we have had a busy week. Hubs came home and dd celebrated her 11th birthday yesterday . OMG, where does the time go?? Hope you managed your pressie shopping Dolly ... I knew exactly what I was getting dd but it was still a mad trip out on Tuesday evening!!

Bethoo - pmsl at your neice... my sister (who is in her late 20s) didn't want to come to the house while I was in labour in case it put her off having children .

It is delightful to read about all the babies and how lovely they are for their Mama's!! This is such a precious time

kiwibella · 29/03/2007 12:30

love the pics, Piffle... your dd looks so mischievious tucked up beside her brother .

AmieR · 29/03/2007 14:03

afternoon all! hope everyone and your LO's are fine and dandy!

gorgeous pics piffle, I should update mine as Joseph has changed a great deal.

Hats off to those feeling broody already!! Not sure I have the energy to get the ball rolling in that department!

Kiwi - I'm suffering with a cold too at the moment, doing my best not to pass it on!

Joseph and I had our 6 week check ups this morning! Joe now weighs 7lbs 5ozs! not bad in 6 weeks from 5lbs 1oz. Least he fits his clothes a bit better now!

I've got to go for blood tests, to see if I am amble to take a medication to help my hormones, I have PCOS and they are all over the place again after behaving during pregnancy, piled the weight back on and skin looks like a 14 yr olds! Blood pressure up too, but Dr said this medication will help that.

Anyone successful in getting into any type of routine?? During the day its still every two hours! but this week we've had 2 nights in a row of only one feed at 3amish... so I think we may be getting somewhere, I thinkking his weight gain is helping in this!

Diva - we're still waiting for that smile! I can't wait!

AmieR · 29/03/2007 14:06

few pics added to profile!

Rosylily · 29/03/2007 14:13

Amie, he looks really sweet.

Piffle · 29/03/2007 14:20

Amie he looks so awake and ready for action!!!!!!!!!! Gorgeous, oh you cannot get enough of babies, even when you're stuck to one 24/7
Blissful!
Finn is tagging an extra 20 mins to his sleeping time, so going nearly 3 hrs between feeds
Most welcome.
Breasts don't appreciate it much though. Very quick to get engorged and tender, keep forgetting to use breast pads and have ended up soaking Finn through about 4 times in 24 hrs just what I needed, a bit more washing...
Have popped him into his cloth nappies today, might try alternating for a few days to make sure I can cope

He finally had his paed check today, passed with flying colours and Dr said he seems a very strong baby.

Right must pop off and have a lit down while both cherubs are sleeping

Healing vibes to the sore nips brigade, dvia hope the infection clears up, sounds not nice

foxcub · 29/03/2007 18:15

Oh no - I've fgot everyone worrying about thrush!

It doesn't aslways show on the baby's tongue, but when they feed they keep crying and pulling off (cos their mouth hurts) - also get more wind.

Theblonde - I bought that Muller probiotic drink you mwentioned - its delicious

Leo - thrush tends to be in both breasts

well feeding was slightly better today. Had a crap night for latching. My posture is so bad my back aches all the time, so I tried new positions last night and my back was fine, but nips in agony!

Went to see Gp today as am self medicating for the thrush and had convinced myself at 2am that I am poisoning myself and Monti - but GP was lovely and said fluconazole is fine for us.

Forgot how nuerotic I get with newborns.

Monti has moved form 3.5 hr gaos between feeds to 3 hour gaps - just as well as he's been losing weight...

how is everyone else?

foxcub · 29/03/2007 18:16

Diva - just seen about your womb infection - you poor thing - that's all you need isn't it?

foxcub · 29/03/2007 18:17

cute boy Amie!!

Rosylily · 29/03/2007 21:00

Think I'm packing up for 10 days in cork tomorrow, I'll see if I feel up to the trek. We tend to turn into gypsies in holiday time! But while I was pregnant I barely budged, so have to get myself back into traveller mode!
Fox and Diva, I am totally through-other compared to you guys! I don't even know how long between feeds, I'm always totally distracted and just plug him in when he stirs routine? er...

divastrop · 29/03/2007 21:22

rosy-im to say that one of the reasons i hated bf so much was i couldnt predict how long ds1 would go between feeds and i'd get in a panic at the thought of him needing a feed when i was out.i like the way i can nip to town between feeds with Elsie, though ive been a bit thrown today cos i think shes having a growth spurt and wanted feeding at 5.30 after only having a feed at 4..there was me saying'shes not due a feed yet,why is she crying'like something out of the 1950's.

ok so im a total control freak nut job when i have a baby but im starting to wish i could just go with the flow and enjoy having her as i was having that 'omg i cant believe my little baby is going to infant/junior school in a few months' conversation with the playground mums this morning and it reminded me how fast they grow.

Rosylily · 30/03/2007 08:44

Diva, I've just given up the will to be anything other than extension of my children at the moment!
I have tried to be on top of things and in control but I fail so miserably and it makes me unbelievably stressed, and I can't handle much stress. It makes me ill immediately!
Actually once I stopped trying so hard things have got easier in life generally. I found that if you stop chasing things, they just come to you as long as you invite them

My children are packing all their toys into cases in total excitement for our trip!

foxcub · 30/03/2007 09:46

Diva/Rosy - have your kids broken up today? Ours don't break up until next Thursday!

I'm a control freak too - with DS1 was a slave to his feeds, but DD fed every four hours on the dot (her choice) and fed efficiently (none of this falling asleep on the besat malarky). So with Monti - he's every three hours on the clock. IKWYM about feeling panicky about feeds though - I can't cope with the idea of having to juggle my boobs, bra, baby etc in public atm. I feed topless with Monti in his undies so am only feeding in the house. I used to feed DD in the car a lot I seem to remember as it was really comfy...

Chocolatepenny · 30/03/2007 09:58

Yayyyyyyyy! I can now join this club!
Got the third day blues a bit today, heard this is normal although I feel a bit weird. Does anybody else get bad dreams alot too? presume it is because your brain is permanetly switched on to babies every noise?

Piffle · 30/03/2007 10:32

omg honeymoon is over
think we've been struck by colic
screaming inconsolable finn from 7-11pm... wanted to keep feeding (i'm breastfeeding) for comfort but due to oversupply he took on board 3 full boobs in 1 hr = huge vomit.
used a dummy to try to calm his need to suck ( he thumb sucker and unable to find thumb when upset)
anyway dp to tesco at 10.45 infacol
immediate result = long volley of farts, and one vry tired finbar sleeping and barely waking for a feed last night
I had glass of white wine weds night - i know it can gas up some babies plus I've been eating grapes again.
will see how tonight goes... horrid to be so helpless - ds had it and i nearly fell apart.

Piffle · 30/03/2007 10:32

chocpen saw your pics ted is adorable!

LaidbackinEngland · 30/03/2007 10:47

Poor you piffle.... I had some pumpkin and chilli soup on weds that def didn't agree with Amos' nappy .... what an explosion ! Started using muslin/cloth nappies today too.

Diva - hope your womb infection is clearing up... sounds painful.

DH had me playing football in the garden yesterday with DS1 and DS2 ... not very energetically. Had to remind him that 20 years ago I would still have been tucked up in hospital eating grapes !

Piffle · 30/03/2007 11:02

I started using my reuseables yesterday too
BUT Finn is such a heavy wetter, in 1.5 hrs he saturated a kissaluv, fleece liner, a vest, sleepsuit and a thick blanket plus sheets
Might have to rethink, no way would muslins cope, which is a pain in the ass as I've just ordered a few more!

I'm going to try the infacol before each feed from 3pm today.
He has just sucked his thumb to sleep, very cute, shame though have to get him up for dd's nursery breaking up party now!

kiwibella · 30/03/2007 11:10

our kiddlywinks break up today - two weeks with dd at home, yay !!

Sounds like a stressful night Piffle... glad that you were able to work through things and Finn became settled. It's such a process of elimination

I'm with you on the feeding comfortably at home Foxy ... so fussy with how and where.

Can't believe it's Friday already. Earlier in the week it felt like it would never end. Take care and be sure to rest Chocpenny... keep an eye on those blues and remember to talk to people about how you are feeling .

Hope the infection is healing Diva. Nasty bugs!

Rosylily · 30/03/2007 11:23

Chocpenny, I had two or three really horrible and very vivid dreams, put it down to hormones Felt a bit weird on occasion too, but haven't been too bad with any blues, I am mostly getting an ok amount of sleep and I'm so grateful for that after last time.

Piffle I've had a bit of colic with my babies and really hoping it doesn't rear its ugly head this time but always found infacol a good help.

Fox, dd doesn't finish nursery til tuesday but we are sneaking off early.Don't think it matters too much with nursery.
Just heard today that dd got into the primary I want for her. It's a really good integrated school with fantastic head mistress.hurray!

divastrop · 30/03/2007 12:25

my kids break up today but ds2 will still be going to nursery in the afternoons.he got sent home early with bloody headlice yesterdayi was fuming cos i checked them all at the weekend and all were clear,so he must have got them in nursery.the teacher saw one crawling accross his head!im stillthat i had to take him home cos a bloody biddy had crawled off sum1 elses child onto him...grrr.

i feel really really crappy today.had a big argument with dd1 this morning (cos im such an ineficient mother and didnt sign her reading record after she asked me to 10 minutes before we had to leave, and cos she wasnt ready cos she didnt get up till 8.25 which was also my fault apparantly).dd2 has been crying at the slightest little thing cos shes coming down with something, and i just burst into floods of tears in the living room cos dd2 was climbing all over me when i was holding Elsie, then she banged her head on me and i had both of them screaming in stereo.dp was playing his computer game at the time.he asked what was wrong then said i should ask if i want him to help me.
i pointed out that last time i asked him to do more,he buggered off to his fathers to show me how much he does do,so obviously i should be able to cope on my own and i must just be weak and useless for getting stressed.

i need a holiday.

foxcub · 30/03/2007 13:09

Hi everyone

Piffle - 3 boobs?

I'm quite liable to burst into tears at the slightest thing but have been too tired to remember my dreams - apart from last night, when I fell in love with a Syrian man who had a large head like a lion (had watched a prog about Iran at 2am while feeding)

Boobs feeling slightly better today and Monti's doing lots of poos (he hadn't pooed for a week)

DD accidenrally kicked Monti in the head yesterday and I shouted at her as we were already late to pick up DS1 and I ended up with both her and Monti crying. felt like a bad mum..

Rosylily · 30/03/2007 13:21

I managed to bang ds2 and baby's head today too. Then I was busting for the loo and Hasan was crying to be fed so I ended up breast feeding on the toilet...they don't show you that trick in the manuals
