Here we go girls - Amie, Kiwi, Dixia, Flannelettepyjamas, we can start comparing motherhood notes on this one and wait for the others to arrive one by one. Although I suspect the other thread will be our home until there's critical mass. To those of you still waiting to join the post-natal people - get a move on!!

sorry wrong keypad! 5 - 10 minutes as he usualy drops off. i think he does it for comfort too

TheBlonde · 26/03/2007 07:00

Morning all

Fox - breastfeeding here is taking about 30 mins a feed but a lot of that is latching on and off and trying to keep the LO awake and going

My milk has finally started to come in so now have lumpy boobs
Hopefully will shift them today

Rosylily · 26/03/2007 09:14

Bethoo I get letting down 'pain' and leaking in the other boob when I feed, my body wants twins Not sure about the actual nipple hurting, is it sore when you feed?

Mine are still a bit sore but no real problems, thank goodness.

I've failed to cope alone this morning, pesky clock change, between feeding and changing baby, no one else is dressed or remotely ready so nursery went out the window and 15 yo ds1 slept in and I'm still trying to kick him out for school. He keeps saying he feels sick...yeah right!

Oh well, Hasan is so cute, he is a dream. far less trouble than the rest of them!

Mistiek · 26/03/2007 10:01

HELP!!!!

Good Morning all....

Sorry I know I have not posted in about a week and have not had a chane to catch up on everything... But Ihope soomeone can help me....

Paige is battling so much with wind at the moment. I have tried using infacol and although it helps and stops her from bringing up her feed she is still not winding properly. I had similar problems with DS and had to use infacol and put him to sleep on his tummy. Because of SIDS I really wanted to avoid doing that this time round ut its the only relief she gets from the gripping pains and some sleep.

I did not get to breast feed DS for more than a week so this all seems new to me. Its been 10 days now and I am out of options. I have tried everything to help her burp - but nothing is working. She is now sleeping on her tummy (which I wanted to avoid as its worries me) and still looks like hse is loads of pain and very unsettled. I dont think it is colic as she does not cry for hours at a time...

Anyone else having this problem and can anyone give me some advive... PLEASE....

Hope everyone else is enjoying there new bubds and settling down nicely into there new lives.....

foxcub · 26/03/2007 10:25

Hi Mistiek - sorry I don't know what to suggest apart from the usual putting them on your shoulder to burp. My Dh finds that gentle pressure on their tummy helps bring the wind out so he lies with Monti on tops of him and strokes his back up and downwards.

I'm sure I'm getting breast thrush - have been taking ABs and fluconazole (canesten) tablets but thrush seems to have appeared anyway

I get a strong let down in the "spare" boob while I'm feeding, plus a whole river of milk. I stick a flannel under the spare boob but it often soaks Monti's baby clothes anyway!

eidsvold · 26/03/2007 10:36

dd3 is feeding for about 10 minutes and then dropping off - she is still sleeping a lot although last night settled in to a routine of wanting something every two hours - worked okay - could co ordinate my pain relief

she tends to be much sleepier during the day.

Took her for her guthrie test today and the women were shocked I was home already.

But seem to be getting more sleep at home. Dh has been fab with the girls and with doing things at home. I can also take the pain relief I want and care for my wound etc in a way I feel happy with.

Nipples - shredded - took ages to get dd3 sorted and even now we are still getting the odd latch not quite right. Had one breast which may have been a bit dodgy before having dd3 - so have been using the daktarin gel to beat off the thrush - had the start of that as well. Poor dh sent him to the chemist to get it and he was subjected to all sorts of questions and information - none of which was relevant but he could not bring himself to say it was for his wife's nipples.
Also slathering on the lanisoh (sp?) cream. Milk came down last night - great - took ages for it to come through with dd2. Boobs very heavy and tender. Have been expressing one as it is so tender that I can't bear to have dd3 feed from it.

Otherwise - despite being sore and weary - all is well here.

eidsvold · 26/03/2007 10:37

foxcub - get stuck into the daktarin oral gel - on your nipples after each feed. really works

Rosylily · 26/03/2007 10:52

Fox walk about with your boobs out, they need air! My poor sis had to do that, her nipples were raw. Do you have sensitive skin to go with your red colouring?

Mistiek, in theory breastfed babies aren't supposed to be as windy and tend to bring more wind out the other way...apparently.
But if Paige isn't bringing it up, maybe just make her comfortable whatever way you have to and let the wind do its own thing... I've found that just keeping the baby upright helps. Have you a baby sling? maybe use that a bit? Just ideas....

eidsvold · 26/03/2007 10:59

meant to add - puffy ankles and feet here too although none during pregnancy. Probably to do with being bed bound for a while and then lots of fluid they were putting through me.

Has started to settle down a little.

LaidbackinEngland · 26/03/2007 11:11

Morning everyone ! Your baby vibes worked !

I did it !

Woke up with pains about 2.45am. Woke up DH. Ran a bath. Contractions started happening quickly and painfully. DH phoned midwife. She arrived at 3.20. I had three huge and very painful contractions whilst standing up and leaning over the birthing ball. My mum ran out to the car to get the midwife's things but before she got back, I breathed him out gently at 3.45 am and have just a small 1st degree tear for my troubles. No time for any pain relief ! ! I couldn't have asked for an easier time ... it all happened in less than an hour.

He weighs 8lbs 8oz and is absolutely adorable. We are calling him Amos. He is feeding well. His brothers are besotted as is DH.

Had great joy in phoning the hospital to tell them I wouldn't be coming in for a sweep

Rosylily · 26/03/2007 11:14

Laidback you total star! And I adore that name! Well done!

Jaysecond · 26/03/2007 12:25

hi ladies, hoping to make some time nto get on here a bit moe now, havnt managed to read all the thread but Piffle i too have huge swollen feet, Try feeding with your feet up and if you can get someone to apply pressure on them from toes to ankles, as if pushing the fluid up and toward the heart, it does help, but wont make it go away completely. Keep the ankles moving by rotating them when you are sitting, and if you cant sit with them up what you can do is bring them up onto your toes then swap over and bring your toes up while your heel is on the ground! - hope you got that! As for the trouble winding, someone was on about it, an osteopath told me to hold them up right then, tip them back, then upright, then forward then upright then away from you then upright then towards you. (make sense?) its supposed to dislodge any trapped wind there is... seems to work here ok.
Jensen is being quite good and is sleeping and eating with not much inbetween, i havnt had any probs with BF although he did take his time to latch on properly. He was weighed on Friday and has only lost 2ozs, which is good, so he is still 11lbs! hes a heavy load i tell you! His bruising has nearly gone but now he has a yellowish tinge, whihc is a mixture of the last bit of brusing and some jundice, but they are not worried about him. His eyes are still quite bloodshot and the whites are starting to go from yellow to white, so hopefully he will be perfect in a few more days!

I have soem more pics up here if you want to have a look!

Best go hes waking up, spk soon, love to one and all xxxxxxx

AmieR · 26/03/2007 12:36

hey all! and welcome to the new arrivals

End of march is nearing... I wonder who will go into April!

Joseph is a feeding monster!!! He's knocking it back for what seems all day!

He is taking ages to settle at night after a feed! And with the hour we loss over the weekend, I am feeling so tired!

He now weighs 6lbs 10oz so maybe knocking on the 7lbs this week!!!

muppethasakitten · 26/03/2007 12:54

Mistie - i've used that rocking method Jay was mentioning as well - it works for us quite well too - and Samuel does some cracking burps with it - one last night woke dh up... and let me tell you... that takes some doing!
If you hate putting her on her front could you experiment with lying her on her left side? Sometimes gentle jigging up and down over the shoulder can dislodge it... also the infacol has a cumulative effect - so tends to get better the more you use it...

If i think of anything else i'll let you know.

Kiwi - very impressed you're thinking of getting pg again!!!

Piffle · 26/03/2007 13:40

yeah the milk coming in, I leant over the kitchen sink and just let it drip for relief
And then last night I put a cup under each boob and let it all hang out
Also took the bra off
MUCH more comfortable though I did have to take paracetamol.
Reckon ds (13) will be put off having kids for another 20 yrs, job's a goodun! Although he was wathcing Top Gear you could see he was thinking... jesus mum...
Settling down today as Finn fed every 2-3 hrs last night they are feeling more manageable

bethoo · 26/03/2007 14:03

rosy - no nipple soreness at all. i read that pain is normal.
laidback - congrats and sounds like an enviable labour!
kiwi - never know we may meet up on the same thread again as though bf i am hoping to conceive again too! though do not think dp will be chuffed.

must go as hayden has just bought up his feed! must make myself eat, looks like a crisp sandwich for brunch!!!

CallieNewMum · 26/03/2007 17:31

Shall we lay bets now on the first person to get pg again???

Laidback, congrats again. have left msg on AN thread.

OP posts:
foxcub · 26/03/2007 19:22

Laidback - congrats on your easy peasy lemon sqeazy birth!! Amos is a great name!!

kiwibella · 26/03/2007 19:28

I agree with Rosy about airing your nipples!! Coat them with breastmilk and let them dry before putting on the lanolin. We have got there with the right breast and are almost there with the left - I think that is more to do with confidence.

Yay, Bethoo... I would love to catch up with you and your belly again . I'm hoping that this pregnancy has taught my body how to make a baby quickly this time Is anyone else seriously considering their next baby either now or in the future??

We are sick!! I feel absolutely awful with my head stuffy and my throat so sore. Kate won't settle (again ) and I wonder if she has a touch too - she keeps making this face as if she has eaten something disgusting. It's too coooot.

Dh is on his way home

kiwibella · 26/03/2007 19:29

oh, meant to say Piffle - I hope that MissE, aged 11, is totally put off pregnancy after all she has recently seen . That's sex education!!

kiwibella · 26/03/2007 19:31

Jay... Jensen is such a big bubba!! Your dd is absolutely gorgeous and I love the pic of her doting on her brother . Too sweet.

Leoladyofleisure · 26/03/2007 20:27

Congratulations Piffle !

Congratulations Eids !

Congratulations Laidback !

Fox, that Monti can go 3.5 hours between feeds! Toby and Leo are still struggling with 2.5hours.
Fox, length of feeding with T&L depends, sometimes if they are really hungry, wide awake and I am engorged then about 5 mins, other times it can take half an hour or more. If Monti is feeding every 3.5 hours though maybe he is just taking a lot at one feed.

Shanks, I would take Deanna to the doctor if you are at all worried, its most likely nothing but better to be sure.

Piffle, I also had no swelling during pregnancy but did after, I don't think it took long to go though.

Mistiek - have you tried massaging her belly? Or a warm cherry stone cushion on it (or hot water bottle or something). The swiss also swear by fennel tea (for the baby). Oh, jsut read Jay's rocking method, sounds good!

Someone asking about IUD - I had a coil after ds was born and my periods actually got lighter as did period pain although I'm not sure if that was a side effect of pregnancy or the coil. Wha is and IUS????

We had a bad, bad night last night, I think it was something I ate , poor Toby was grunting and crying on and off for hours, and then when he finally let of a few humungous farts Leo started! I did manage to grab a couple of hours sleep today though and hoping for a better night tonight!

foxcub · 26/03/2007 21:07

Eids - have been using daktarin cream and gel (Monti loves the gel) but the thrush has still managed to get into the milk ducts.

Have fluconazole tablets but am also self medicating to raise the dosage to US dosage as I have been taking low dose for 10 days and is not working

Jaysecond · 26/03/2007 21:12

Leo i am with you on the short time span inbetween feeds, Jensen is feeding for Britain, or so it seems, he lulled me into a false sense of security, for the first three days he hardly took anything and just slept alot, but now hes feeding every 2 hrs or so, and unlike my DD who only fed for about 5-10 mins, he feeds for about 20 -30 mins, which means i get no restbite! Thing is i get SOOOO boired of it in the night time, i almost want to cut him short but know that thats a flase economy and he will ony wake uo quicker, guess we have to ride the wave for the first few months, and try and remind ourselves that it really isnt forever!

The baby blues are still here with me, i only have to thin about something and i cry, cant remember how long they are sup to last for, think i had them with DD for a cpl of days....
This morning was the first time i was on my own with both of them, god it seemed to take forever to get us all dressed and washed and sorted....and that was with letting him scream for a few mins, while i was dressing DD, how on earth do you all manage with more than two babies? Mind, i am guessing that you have some kiddies that are a bit older that might be able to help you out?

Quick question, are any of the newborns ut there sounding like they have 'frogs' in their throat? Jensens lying here in his bouncer and all i want for him to do is cough, it sounds like a real load of phlegm he has in his throat. Hes also sneezed a fair bit. Is it just him getting used to all the smells and day to day stuff?? not sure if i should be worried at all!

TheBlonde · 26/03/2007 21:59

Baby is still nameless here so have started a thread for suggestions in postnatal clubs

Had a variable day here. Baby still sleepy and uninterested in feeding although no doubt she will now be up all night

Boobs v uncomfy so I have expressed a little

Toddler generally misbehaving today, has drawn on his aquadraw with crayon, broke a glass, ate quite a lot of mud, refused all normal foodstuffs and now has a nasty nappy rash
