Here we go girls - Amie, Kiwi, Dixia, Flannelettepyjamas, we can start comparing motherhood notes on this one and wait for the others to arrive one by one. Although I suspect the other thread will be our home until there's critical mass. To those of you still waiting to join the post-natal people - get a move on!!

congrats laidback

jay-i find it easier having the older 2 to help out now,at least they can keep an eye on dd2 and Elsie for me.plus, pass me the remote, answer the phone/door,get me stuff ive forgotten at bathtime, get drinks for dd2 etc etc.
when ds and dd1 were little it was very difficult(theres 11 onths between them)and i ended up with bad PND,although the fact that their father was abusive to me and useless with them didnt really help matters.

kiwi/bethoo-you are both insane.please dont mention pregnancy, ive cuddled dp a few times today and IME it doesnt take much more than that for me to get preg

leo-much respect to you for coping with two lo's.you must be superwoman, thats all i can say.or have 17 arms or something.

Elsie didnt sleep well last night, she was whinging most of the night cos of wind as she wouldnt burp.

mistiek-i find baby massage is good for trapped wind.i never found infacol helped atall.

TheBlonde · 26/03/2007 22:32

Really daft question - how often am I supposed to bath the baby? Not got round to it yet

eidsvold · 27/03/2007 00:50

the blonde at this stage - you can get away with just top and tailing them rather than bathing them. Dd1 was almost 3 months old before she had her first proper bath. Dd2 had her first in hospital - cause it was policy. Dd3 has yet to have a bath - will start with top and tailing as well.

Remember - only need warm water with them - no need for baby bath stuff at this stage - they don't get dirty.

Dh has taken dd1 to kindy and dd2 off to the park to play so I am just having breakfast and going back to bed for some rest. Did not really rest yesterday and have to keep reminding myself that I have had surgery and to take it easy - I am still in pain but tend to deal with it and get on with things.

Dh has been a star - don't have to do anything if I don't want to. Never had that before - dd1 did not come home with me and I was fine by the time she came home - and as only dh and I no real stuff to do at home. Dd2 was born the day dh was supposed to start a new job - so had no help when I came home with her. So this has been a real luxury.

Boobs starting to settle. have added some pics to my profile for a short time.

flannelettepyjamas · 27/03/2007 01:21

Huge congrats to Eids, Piffle and Laidback
Gosh Eids, they certainly did let you out early! That's great that your DH is being so great. Regular pain relief is the key, don't let your discomfort get out of hand as it will be difficult to catch up. Hope your nipples improve.
We're doing ok. Jessica is feeding reasonably well. Still won't take much from the left side ( slower flow) so I'm still expressing the remainder. So fed up with expressing after doing it for 6 weeks now.
It's so great to have her home though .

LunarSea · 27/03/2007 08:40

blonde - I never did daily baths with ds at this age - as Eids says they don't really get dirty. Just wait until you get to weaning and then to them trying to feed themselves though - sometimes one bath a day isn't enough and it's more like one per meal! And then you get the toddler playing in the mud stage - although you might get away with that one with a girl. And the getting into painting once they're at nursery/pre-school and (deliberately or not) they end up painting themselves. So just make the most of it while they don't really need bathing so often.

TheBlonde · 27/03/2007 08:42

eidsvold - lovely pics

Rosylily · 27/03/2007 09:08

lovely pictures Eidsvold, very pretty baby. And pretty sis too.
Hasan is a bit funny looking, but I know he'll soon be very handsome. Last night when he was feeding he had his hands clasped together, so funny.

The blonde it took me a while to do the bath! mw said it was more important for me to get a bath, that's easier said than done! I always end up jumping in the shower, it's quicker. I wash everytime I go to the loo, but I managed to get a nappy rash from those big old maternity pads

I went for a short walk yesterday with the double buggy, and I felt still pregnant because I still have spd and feel so heavy still. Can't wait to drop the extra 2 stone!

Jay, I am failing to get everyone dressed and ready in time at the moment. Oh well.

I do still feel broody at the moment, and everyone is telling me to get my tubes knotted, apart from dh who would love more babies! I think once the hormones have settled I'll not feel that way though. I do have quite enough children really

muppethasakitten · 27/03/2007 10:08

How you ladies are thinking about pregnancy again is well beyond me! I'm stopping at 3 (mind you i said that after 1)... never say never i suppose...

theblonde - I've only given samuel a couple of baths really - and they've been after spectacular pukes... other than that i'm topping and tailing.

Jay - i wouldn't worry too much about the phlegmy sounds... they can be quite mucousy for a while... when is your next hv or mw check though? you could mention it then... presumably a paediatrician listened to his lungs b4 you were disc=charged from hospital?

Eids - lovely photos!

Rosy - I'm with you feeling large... what i hate the most is stll having to wear the same bloody maternity trousers when i'm sick to death of them by now.

foxcub · 27/03/2007 10:15

TheBlonde - a couple of baths a week is fine as newborns have quite dry skin so best not to bathe everyday.

TheBlonde · 27/03/2007 11:40

Thanks for the bath info everyone
I can't recall anything from having DS
New buggy arrived today so need to unpack and construct it

I am amazed at the broody ones among you
I am very much in the never ever ever again frame of mind right now

divastrop · 27/03/2007 12:04

i bath Elsie every evening after ds and dd2,as part of her bedtime routine which started when i got home from hospital.i just wash her face then give her a quick splash in the baby bath.

rosy etc-have you weighed yourself since the birth?i did on friday and i am 1.5 stone more than my pre-pregnancy weight.luckily though i still have a large selection of post dd2 clothes(cos i chucked all my maternity clothes out soon as she was born)and dont have to wear the same things i wa swearing in pregnancy.dp doesnt want me to lose any weight,he says he like me the way i am.yes, right,my tummy skin nearly covers my fanjo and my tits are nearly obscuring my belly button.well, they say love is blind.

TheBlonde · 27/03/2007 12:07

I have 1.5 stone to lose to get to the pre this preg weight
To get to pre DS it's more like 2.5 stone

I shall get there eventually

Rosylily · 27/03/2007 12:24

I put on 3st (as always) this pregnancy, I've lost just over a stone since birth. Last time it took ages to lose it, I might have to make an effort at some point now that I'm 40 an all

muppethasakitten · 27/03/2007 12:56

I am too scared to weigh myself...

foxcub · 27/03/2007 15:24

I never weight myself but went from a pre DS1 size 10 to a size 16 (am 5 ft 8") - DP says he prefers me with a bit of meat on me, but I really want to lose some this time. Particularly on my tum which has never flattened since I had DS1.

foxcub · 27/03/2007 15:25

Diva - LOL at your description of yourself. My tits are like one of those tribeswomen who's never worn a bra and has BF 14 kids

evenhope · 27/03/2007 17:19

Hi all

has anyone else had mastitis? I woke up in the early hours yesterday with it and so far (despite antibiotics) have had one day of being freezing cold (yesterday) and today sweating buckets. It's really uncomfortable. Didn't help that DD wouldn't sleep last night and I saw every hour of the clock through the night. Managed to catch up with 3 hours sleep this morning but still feel like death warmed up.

muppethasakitten · 27/03/2007 17:38

evenhope - i had it this time last week and foxy has had it and Callie - those are just the ones i can remember... i have to say i felt much better after just 24 hours - are you on flucloxicillin? - have you been expressing on the side that's bad and massaging to clear the block? Also take paracetemol? - you have my sympathy... it's a horrid thing to get hope the abs kick in soon for you.

Piffle · 27/03/2007 19:22

No baths here neither, we have a little earth friendly guff to get the milk out of neck creases, but we plan to top n tail for some time yet.
Bloody hell Finn got his first weigh intoday
He has put on 8 oz in 5 days the little porker!!!!!!!!!!!!
Anyone who is aware of my dds problems (she has noonan syndrome and low weight gain is a major factor in it will understand my shock)
I think it has all gone to his cheeks
gorgeous pics Eidsvold, Kate is gorgeous!

I had mastitis with my first - several times, tis hideous - mine turned into an abscess top tips - buy best bras you can afford, or if not hugely norked, a good snug vest so no pressure on any one point of your boob, also watch how you hold you boob when feeding, try to change the exact spot you hold it each time you feed, if you can feed laying down... massage any firm areas towards your nips when feeding to try to encourage flow, warm flannels applied before feeding etc etc etc.

I think I'm dead lucky with weight, good genes rather than any determination, put sod all (6-7 kgs??)on due to ante natal health kick and lack of booze

I think I've only got kg or two to lose. Suspect it's contained in my enormous bosoms mind you

Sorry for enormous post but heaven knows when I'll get back to post again! Finn is gorgeous, really a little happy star!

Mistiek · 27/03/2007 19:54

Evening all

I really need to make more time to read all the threads. I have managed to catch up on todays messages and it really makes me feel quite normal as I know I am not the only one going through this....

I am feeling quite alone at times, despite DH being off for 2 weeks and doing almost everything in the house and with DS1. I get very emotional by the evening, I think it has something to do with the fact that I know I wont be sleeping through.

I suppose its not so bad, DD feeds for about 10 - 20 min at a time and then takes forever to wind... Can get the whole thing, including changing nappy done within 1 hour and she feeds every 3-4 hours. So I am not loosing too much sleep but still feel very tired.

DH goes back to work on Friday and I think that is also playing on my mind as I will have to cope with 2 kids on my own but my mom has said she will be here to help as much as I need, even if its needed every day.... Bless her.

Anyway Congrats to all those who have had their new additions now and hope everyone is ok.

Evenhope: Sorry about the mastitis, Its only been 11 days and I am already begining to dislike the breast feeding (although I think it is just all the emotions at the moment) I cant emagine what it must be like to have mastitis on top of how I feel now. Hope it gets better soon.

One good thing though is that I stood on the scales today and have lost 9kgs since the birth (I think that is a stone and a half) and my tummy is going down alot quicker this time, the bonus of breast feeding I suppose.

Anyway going to try watch a movie on Sky now... thanks everyone for all the advice on the wind issue. The rocking has helped a bit and the infacol seems to be working better.

shanks313 · 27/03/2007 19:56

We have been giving Deanna baths about twice a week, top and tailing when not.

I didnt put anything on during pregnancy in fact I lost a stone, post natal I have lost a stone and a half altogether and trousers are fitting nicely now.

I had to call the HV today as she wouldnt settle this morning, shes had about 4 hours sleep since 7am.We have figured out that it sounds much like constipation and its due to the formula.Apparently the Cow and Gate for hungrier babies gives constipation so we need to switch her back to the first one.

Leoladyofleisure · 27/03/2007 20:47

Diva, thanks, but the 2 baies thing so far is fine, its ds1 I struggle with (even on hais own). So far I have hardly been alone with all 3 and think i will have a breakdown when I do have to!

Theblonde, I bath the dts about once a week, it sis too time consuming to do more and i don't think its healthy for them.

Mistiek hang in there with the bfeeding, with ds1 I never really enjoyed it but tolerated it, this time i feel much more positive about it, actuall more positive about everything.

lots more to say, but one handed typing gezts boring.....!

TheBlonde · 27/03/2007 20:56

Mistiek - the breastfeeding is tough going here too. It does get better though so I am keeping that thought in my head. After about 6 weeks it should be much improved

I am fearful of blocked ducts etc - I ordered new bras online yesterday as the old ones are proving too tight and making the boobs lumpy

bethoo · 27/03/2007 22:25

kiwi - my sister was very enthusiastic about trying for babies until she witnessed her nephews birth! she told my dad that when she got home she was so traumatised by the whole thing she cried! i did warn her that it may put her off!

i must confess that 2 weeks after Hayden was born my tummy was flat though still does not feel hard like before and back into size 8. and to top it off not one stretchmark. it is kind of sad as there is no sign i had a baby!

Jaysecond · 27/03/2007 22:48

God how can anyone not have put weight on or gained one stretch mark.....very enviouos indeed! I put on about 3 stone with DD and only lost 1 before i got pregnant again, well it was only 5mths... had a few stretch marks appear with her, then in this oreg have put on prob another 2 stone, so i reckon, even after having an 11lbs baby, ive still got about 3 1/2 to go, but saying that i needed to lose a stone from way before, so maybe its like 4 stone, god thats LOADS...... mind you, i doubt i will be having anymore babies, my body wouldnt take the strain i think.

Havnt bathed Jensen yet, top and tail him and make sure things are clean, but something inside says when i wash him, i wash away that new baby smell and feel, and i dont want to do that yet! Impressed with the routines some of you have, at the moment hes laying in his bouncer chair fast asleep, i did this with DD, for the first 4-5 weeks i liked to have him near me in the evenings so i can pander to his every need, then i will move on to some kind of routine after that.

I have the MW coming tomorrow to see me and J, will speka to her about the mucus thing, also hes been coughing and sneezing quite a lot, i am thinking hes just getting used to the 'everyday ' fibres and dust thats about!

Had to take DD to docs AGAIN, her cough is still there from christmas, have a stronger does of AB and she has to have them over a two week period. Doc reckons if these dont work she will have to have an inhaler to clear her bronchial tubes, and if that fails then a chest xray, fingers crossed in two weeks i dont have to go back to the doctors!

Right off to feed him again, i swear hes feeding like every 1 1/2 hrs now, i cant seem to get him to go longer, but then i guess hes a hungry baby!

Love to everyone, hope you are all ok, baby blues didnt seem to bad today, hoping they disapear soon!

PS sorry for all my typos, i am crap !
