May I take the liberty of starting a new thread ladies?

agalch · 03/03/2007 15:12

KZ thats why i'm having a trial,to make sure i don't end up like one of the posh school gate mums.I call her "tango woman"(behind her back obv).

I have small burns on my chest and a bigger one on my arm so hoping a very very light golden tan may disguise them a little. If it doesn't i wont bother

bloss,he is sooo cute.He looks so much older/grown up than my Eilidh, haven't tried her in a swing yet, shes only rolled/sat up in the last few days tho i suppose.

A fellow childminder has recommended a friend(also a minder) down in Gretna, have booked her to be at the hotel from 7pm till 12pm in case girls go to bed.Means i won't have to sit in the room while everyone elses dancing the night away lol.Am feeling really nervous tho,1st time anyone other than my mum and 1 of my best friends have looked after any of the children. You'd think as a childminder i would be sensible and rational about childcare eh?

HumphreysCorner · 03/03/2007 16:11

Afteroon ladies

Well, my mum has been at it again.....

Mum 'isn't Sophie having some milk'
Me 'I'll feed her when I get home before she goes to bed. She isn't that bothered about milk'
Mum 'I think you should give her a bottle now'
Me 'I'm not going into that again. I'm not going to give her a bottle'
Mum 'Well, how long are you going to feed her. You're not going to be one of these feeding their child at 16'
Me 'Crikey, no'
Mum 'Well, how long are you going to do it for'
Me 'I'm hoping to get to a year old'
Mum 'Uh, it isn't right. She is 8 months old and needs to be on a bottle. Emma used to run round with hers'
Me 'Not at 8 months she didn't and anyway, Sophie is still a baby. When she can have cows milk I may give her that but I might not use a bottle, probably use a beaker. My friend fed her little girl until she was 1.5, maybe 2 years old'
Mum ' It's time you stopped BF and put her on a bottle'
Me 'Some babies self wean and that might be what Sophie is doing and until then I am going to BF'

I was soooo annoyed so said to DD1 'come on we are going!'

She is also anti us even contemplating having another baby so I'd never be able to tell her I was PG if we do decide to extend our family. DH is keeping a record of how many times I say yes or no when he says 'want a B?'-lol.

kayzed-can't help with the buggy as I haven't seen either of them. Hope you make the right choice.

agalch-skinny minnie Well done. Love to ref to Posh Spice I would like to have a spray tan before it turns into shorts and skirts without tights weather. Let us know how it goes. Seating plans are a PITA-MIL tried to interfere in mine as I had lots of individual tables because that is how the hotel did it but she said I had to have rows of tables going off the head table. I also had an L-shaped top table which upset her but they didn't even contribute any money to our wedding so she wasn't getting a choice in anything.

Twinkle-hope Aidan has survived his bump. Bless.

jom-glad Amelia is on the mend and her poor little head. Sophie has 2 sleeps a day and has done for months. Her morning nap is usually on her gym mat as she crashes there with exhaustion. I always put her in her cot for a good afternoon sleep.

Bloss-Toby is a gorgeous boy. Scrummy!

kbaby-hope you get the passport sorted. Will be quite costly-what a pain. I need to get one for Sophie but keep putting it off as we never go abroad but if I win the lottery we will jet off somewhere so better get one just in case.

DD1 has just been upstairs and blew her whistle promptly waking up Sophie-doh.

Hugs to all and byee for now.

You stick to your guns HC . Even my mum (who bfed 3 babies of her own) is starting to make comments that DS shouldn't be feeding quite so much now. Babies know what they need and your Sophie is such a gorgeous babe that she's obviously getting the milk she needs.

Should be socialising with my MIL now rather than MNing, but hey, have a G&T in my system so what the hell. Went out for lunch today and DS sat in a high chair and devoured rice cake with philly and a couple of dried apricots [proud mother with bad case of PFB sydrome emoticon]. He turned his nose up at chips tho, so I had to eat them all.

OP posts:
IamBlossom · 03/03/2007 19:43

Oh mae, don't you just hate that! Having to finish off their chips?

Am also supposed to be socialising with my MIL but have a glass of red inside me so feckit!

Hello everyone. I must apologise for not replying personally to the majority (any?) of your posts, but I am reading them.

Quick question for those of you whose LOs have started crawling. Did they go through a period of really frustrated-sounding whinging before they realised what to do? Aidan has been a pain in the arse, tbh, the last few days and I think a lot of it is down to frustration that he can't move around as much as he'd like. Just wondering...

HumphreysCorner · 03/03/2007 21:33

Twinkle-that whinging carries on until they can walk. Well, that's what happened with DD1 and my friend's toddler. Once they know they can reach whatever they want they are quite happy. Sophie is grunting/whinging in a high pitched voice all the time now as she is desperate to get things. BTW read your message as 'but I am not reading them'

Sophie was unsettled so got her up to see if she would have some milk-she was not amused. Will be drying up soon if she doesn't increase her intake.

kayzed-keep cleaning and keep swigging that Scotch

usandnosleep · 03/03/2007 22:06

Evening all

Zack whined ALOT until he got the hang of crawling and it was bliss at first, now he is whining because he is pulling himself up and getting stuck

I can't remember who asked but Zack isn't making many sounds either, certainly not babbling. He grunts, shrieks, oohs and aahs!

Fingers crossed Zack has been feeding better in the last 24 hours. He lasted almost a week with hardly anything, I'm sure he has lost weight again this week, I will find out at weigh in on Monday.
HC, I was worried about milk supply but it seems to have survived. I started to panic because Zack won't take formula, phew!

I'm getting comments about 'still' b/f too Doing my best to ignore them.

Have just added avocado to my online shop Thanks for the tip.

Hope you get the passport in time kbaby [fingers crossed]

How are you Misty?
Are things any easier for you Madness?
Come back Frenchleave! x

We're off to look at wedding venues next weekend, enjoying some aspects of planning the big day but some bits are pants ie: who to invite!

Zack awake off to settle him x

hc- at how your mum is trying to get you off breastfeeding! sophies happy with, you're happy so whats the problem?

thats why im kind of happy my family dont speak to me cos i know theyd criticise everything about our parenting! my mum and sis still do whe i make a one off call!! they make comments about how i will go to hell having kids out of marriage, not bringing the kids up as muslim .....etc

agalch- i bet you are enjoying all the wedding preparations!! it a sounds so fun!! i want a carribean wedding! and well done with the weight loss!! loving and admiring your determination!

twinke- junior starts whinging when he gets into an akward postion he cant get out of, especially getting trapped against furniture. he also ends up on his front most of the time which he dislikes so more whinging!

he makes a lot of noise, mostly screamimg with dd and gaga sounds. dd is so cute when she wants to! she climbed into juniors cot this morning and was playing with him and she knew dp and i were trying to sleep sp she kept shhing him, made us laugh.

He pulled himself up on my hands and stepped for about a metre it was so cute! Am proud mummy!

Ceebee74 · 04/03/2007 09:21

Morning all - hope everyone is ok - have read all the posts so sorry if I miss anything.

Agalch - your weight loss is fab although I find it hard to believe that you still have a stone to lose after losing all that. Wedding preparations - how exciting! Let us know about the spray tan as I would quite like one so curious to know how it goes.

HC - Am but not surprised by your MIL's attitude to bf! You would think that they would be glad you are doing the best for Sophie - but both my mum and MIL were against me bf from the start so no wonder it didn't work out eh?

KZ - can't help with the buggies - I am not a pram/buggy person so the names mean nothing to me!! Fab photo of you and DS - he looks so mature (almost school age I would say)

Bloss - fab photo - how cute does he look.

Koshka - gosh Jake is really developing quickly isn't he? No wonder you are proud.

F@F - glad Emma is improving - mopping up puke is really disgusting isn't it??

Sophie and Roshi - congratulations on the rolling

Took Josh to the doctors and she checked him out and said that he seemed ok but gave me some antibiotics to try and shift his cough - it does seem to be getting a bit better. Have cut out solids aswell and just upped his milk intake - and he has not puked since Wednesday night. I know I will have to reintroduce solids again soon but don't really want to until he stops coughing iyswim.

Am sure he has lost weight aswell (am with you on this with Us) as just weighed him on our scales and he was 18lbs and he feels skinny so will take him to the HV tomorrow to see - although he is so active and happy, I know there is nothing wrong with him.

A colleague came to work on Friday with her 5 month old DS - and she made a reference to something that probably only MNers would know about so I think she might be a MNer too but I daren't ask her

Anyway, off to a christening today in sunny Blackpool so must go and get ready.

Have a good day all x

kbaby · 04/03/2007 11:32

Agalch- 3 stone!! Well done. I bet your so excited about the wedding?

Bloss- He looks gorgeous.

I absolutely love DS to bits. My fave bit is cuddling him really tight or blowing raspberries on his cheeks. In fact I think I could eat him all up.

Kayzed- We had a techno with DD, I found it very light and small to use and the handles are high so if your tall its good. The covers come off and can be washed. The only downside is that the shopping basket is hard to get to if its reclined and the plastic uv cover looks dirty after a while. We were looking at a phil and teds for when we had DS but the thing that put me off was that I didn?t think DD/DS would be happy having to look at the back of a seat while DS/DD rode upfront and the back is so close to the wheels they can put their hands on them. At the moment we use a pilko and a buggy board as DD is almost 3 and walks most places. The buggy board is good and she likes riding on it. It can be tricky in shops though as its hard to reverse as the wheels get siff or jammed. That said though I think you should do the techno and buggy board.

Hc, ive just sneaked a look at up and coming spoilers for the next couple of Lost episodes.

Im going to be a bit scarce for a while a DH and I had a huge argument last night which resulted in us both trying to make more of an effort as he feels im on here too much and we don?t spend any time together so ive promised to only come on when hes at the gym/out

HumphreysCorner · 04/03/2007 12:48

us-you really shouldn't look unless you want to see someone who has committed suicide with a shotgun or being decapitated by a helicopter blade and they are probably the least horrific pics!!!!

kbaby-have watched episode 7 and am currently downloading no. 8. It is just soooo good. Have lost track as to what episode Sky is up to. Spoilers-I lurve them. Will have to search.

Anyway-will catch up later as I must feed Sophie lunch. Bit behind today.

Twinklemegan · 04/03/2007 13:00

HC - I'm more tempted to look now. What does that say about me?

Thanks for your replies to the whingeing issue. Looks like it's only going to get worse . And I'm glad to know it's not only Aidan who's not really babbling yet.

Yep - avocado and banana is a big hit here (it might have been me who first mentioned it - can't remember). Aidan's had fish for the first time today - cod poached in milk mashed together with sweet potato - he loved it. He seems to love absolutely everything at the moment - I'm sure I'm headed for a big fall at some point

Well I'm supposed to be on the PC preparing my case for my meeting with management on Tuesday - just to get them to agree that I've got grounds for review. Found out yesterday that if they are successful I could earn the same digging graves .

MaeWest · 04/03/2007 15:37

Sorry, bad mood. Shitest of shite nights last night, all a bit of a blur. Really didn't want to be up and chatting to MIL over brekkie this morning . Surely I'm due a good night soon

Rustlings, he's awake again...

Quick post with hugs for Maewest {{{{{{{hugs}}}}}}}}
Its completely crap isn't it? Just wanted you to know its not just you, it helps me to know that others have the same problem because I always blame mysef for *ucking up somewhere.
Zack has woken every hour for a couple of nights, Dp had to finish work early on Friday because I was a sobbing mess.
I comfort myself with the fact it can't last forever and DP will owe me lots and lots of nights out and pamper weekends xxx
AND your MIL, you poor poor thing.

Must try the bananacado that you're all talking about. She had avocado for the first time today and ate it well but we are out of bananas so I will have to get some more and give it a go.

I bought a pilko when Amelia was born and was going to buy a buggy board at the time but didn't as you can't use them when its in pram mode. I used to put DS in the buggy and Amelia in the baby bjorn at this stage if we were walking too far and he found it too hard. (And when he broke his foot on the esculator in the underground station just before Xmas......but thats a different story!) I haven't bothered to get one since as DS (3.4) now walks everywhere although sometimes I think it would be handy as he can be a bit slow (and easily distracted) when I'm in a hurry. We still have the Maclaren from birth we had for DS and will sometimes take this with us as well if we're off on a big walking day out (obviously this is when DH is with me). It is hard to know the way to go with these things.... hope you work it out KZ.

Big hugs to those with wakeful babes. I really do sympathise. I am knackered waking at 5.30am every morning, but that's after a minimum of 6 hours sleep, so god knows how you are functioning at all.....(())

KBaby, have you tried dissolving a rusk or two in formula milk for DS to have if he won't drink it? Toby has refused all day time bottles for the last two days. Gets REALLY mardy when I try and make him drink it. So I have done the rusk thing for his puddings a couple of times, and am giving him water out of a cup (tipping it to his mouth, he won't drink it through the spout) just to make sure he is getting at least some fluids. He will still drink most of his 8oz bottles first and last thing, so is at least having some milk....and of course eating his usual piles of food....

Looooooooooooooooong day today, pants pants pants weather. Allowed DS1 to watch more than his usual amount of TV out of desparation, plus done painting, sticking, and colouring.

Got Toby to have a morning and an afternoon nap in his cot today, so that seems to be cracked, really pleased. he didn't even cry this afternon, seemed almost thankful to be put to bed.

DH and I have been fine this weekend. I do have to say though that is it mainly because I have just held my tongue about his:

trip to the pub on Friday during bath hour
2 hour bike ride at lunchtime on Saturday
trip to the pub on Saturday during bath hour and his mum's visit
1 hour lie in this morning ursing his hangover while I had all the child care.

If I had pointed any of this out we would have had an almighty row. So I didn't. He is not an unreasonable person, just seems to be a catastrophically selfish one at the moment. Hopefully this phase will soon pass, and if it doesn't, well, they are my kids, I shall just have to lump it. He has many many good points that I shall remind myself of frequently, and I do not want to live in WW3 every weekend.

And so my first week of no nursery for DS1 looms. I wonder how I will be by Friday? If it ever stops raining I may be ok.....

Thanks all dh is so much better now. He is up and about now but he won't take it easy so he gets tired very quickly.

I am astounded at the number of babies crawling, pulling themselves up and cruising. Leo is nowhere close to doing any of those things (not that I'm complaining!) He doesn't even really support his weight on his legs - when I stand him up he just bounces

Sleeping is still awful here which serves me right for boasting when he used to sleep through! I am lucky if he sleeps for as much as 2 hours in a row, and this is at night!
