agalch - good luck!!!! xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

SleepIsForTheWeak · 09/04/2007 08:28

I can't keep up with you all!!!!!!!
Agalck - hope you are having a fab day!!!!

I think it is time we start a new thread

Our weaning has not progressed as it should, with 6 weeks of being away but he is still eating 3 times a day, lumpy mush mostly. Going to start on finger foods this week.

A quick question: what are you LO's favourite toys that keep them amused / focused longest? (Can you see where I am going with this?)
Sefton's is a wooden cut out jigsaw that is too advanced for this age but he loves it anyway, and books... I want to get him some more "activity" based toys but not sure which are good.

The list:
jersey-is currently due in September 07
HumphreysCorner-will be having No3
usandnosleep- will be having No2
Iamblossom - will be having No3 (within the next year, if at all, I have been informed by DH....gulp)
Twinkle - undecided, possibly not
prettymum- undecided
Pavlov - will def be having no.2
Ceebee - probably - not decided 100% but if we do, will probably start to TTC by the end of this year!
kamikayzed - no siree, unless there's an escapee!
Wallace - will not be having number 4! Unless maybe we win the lottery
Sleep - definitely, maybe TTC next year

agalch, finally the day!!!

Been bit busy lately so haven't quite kept up. Feeling bit sad when I saw the list, defin no tcc 4 for me..

dd changed quite a bit in last 3 weeks from not eating, not drinking from beakers to stuffing her self and drinking water from beakers. Also started to crawl properely. Just got the stairgates up!

HumphreysYummyChoccyEggCorner · 09/04/2007 11:02

Here comes the bride all fat and wide Tee hee!

Go girl, you will look radiant!

MaeWest · 09/04/2007 11:04

HumphreysYummyChoccyEggCorner · 09/04/2007 11:19

madness-try not to feel sad hun. You have 3 gorg DC. Well done on DD's rapid progress.

Yesterday Sophie waved and babbled full sentences for the first time. Sooo proud. No wonder she isn't crawling or rolling she is too busy learning other things.

DD1 spent the night with PIL and we are due to pick her up at 1pm to get to my brother's house for 2.30pm. This allows MIL some time to see Sophie. However, FIL just phoned to say they are taking her bowling and can we come any later. I have said 1.30pm is the v. latest. Have now got the feeling of doom that all is not going to go according to plan so watch this space!

Have a lovely day ladies. Going to do my nails while I have 5 mins to myself.

ImpyChica · 09/04/2007 17:06

Hi all

Algach - wishing you a wonderful day and fabulous married life together

HC - Did your probs with DD1 start when Sophie arrived? Does she maybe feel replaced in your affections by Soph? Maybe you need to smother her with cuddles and love (hard as it is when she's been a p-i-t-a...)?

Those getting excited about my job..... I'm just a poorly paid work monkey whose only compensation is having to look up pix of Johnny Depp all day....

Tried your sleep training Bloss - first night Ryan cried for an hour (and so did I ) then slept. 2nd night he whined and cried out "mama ma ma" for an hour and a quarter - and I gave in. Doh. I've cut out my daytime bfeed and just feed twice a day now so maybe that's why he's suddenly waking at 3-4am.....

If I remember rightly about Frenchleave, she can't post on threads once they get past a certain length - I'm sure you've not upset her Bloss (n'est pas?)

As to having more bairns - if I had unlimited money and time I'd have ten! I love 'em! But it took a while to conceive Ryan (needed fertility treatment in the end) - so I'd be happy just to have one more. Not in any rush - want to savour all Ry's stages and then savour the next one....

Sleep - definitely, maybe TTC next year
Impy - hopefully another one at some point

Twinklemegan - hope your LO is over the croup - sound v scary

SleepForWeak - Ryan loves toys that play tunes and squidgey footballs.... but then he'll quite happily play for ages with an empty tin or plastic bottle....

Had a girlie night out on Fri - all yummy mummies. Only had a tequila sunrise and a couple of glasses of wine and felt ropey as anything the next day. Such a lightweight these days! Finally getting our kitchen fitted today. We'll have a fully working oven for the first time in over a year - hurrah!

Hope you all had a great Easter - the weather in the UK sounded way better than ours in Spain was. But that was probably all the summer you're going to get tee hee!

Hugs all
Impy

TwinklemEGGan · 09/04/2007 19:42

Oh I feel quite bad looking at the list as well Madness. Is it so strange to be happy with just the one? I absolutely love being a mum, but I believed for so long I'd never have a baby at all. I'm counting my blessings with Aidan and I just can't imagine having another as well.

Sleep - I'm with you on toys that are more advanced than their age. We spent ages recently trying to find an activity-type toy for Aidan. We went in and out of shops and I just wasn't impressed at all with the range for his age group, or up to one tbh. They seem to just play daft electronic tunes when the baby presses buttons. We ended up getting him a wooden activity cube from Jojomamanbebe and he really likes it, although some of it's a bit beyond him. It's for a year upwards and it'll keep him amused well into the future I think. Perhaps we'll try a jigsaw too - I do like "proper" toys.

Oh I hope Agalch's day went swimmingly. We were so so lucky with our wedding day, I just wish everyone's could be as perfect.

IamBlossom · 09/04/2007 20:05

Evening guys.

Great, but very tiring weekend. Spent Saturday and Saturday night and most of Sunday at SIL's who is great with the kids, provided endless entertainment for them such as making Easter Bonnets , and an Easter Egg hunt. H was expected to sleep on the floor of his cousin's bedroom, but, as I predicted, having never done anything like that in his short lfe, he didn't get it, and was still up runing around at 10.30pm which spelt a long and tiring day for him on Sunday but he survived. have just had a BBQ with some friends too, so that finishes off our Bank Holiday weekend. I think DH is somewhat looking forward to going back to work.....

Impy, well done on the sleep training attempts, at least you tried it. It is horrible listening to them cry, Toby never really cries ever so it was especially difficult. If it had gone on for much longer than it did I definitely would have caved.....

How much weight do you think it is possible to put on in one weekend? I reckon I have found at least 3 spare pounds, I had forgotten how nice creme eggs are. But don't they make your teeth hurt! And didn't they used to be bigger???

IamBlossom · 09/04/2007 20:08

Twink we got alot of use out of this for H, and Toby sits in front of it already. This might fall into your "press a button and play music" type toy that you don't really want though, not sure.....

Oh dear, I sounded a bit snobbish before didn't I? I just think most toys that take batteries are pretty expensive for what they do. And all that electronic music drives me potty - it's just a bugbear of mine. Bloss - we did actually consider that one, but the batteries thing got in the way.

Kami - Aidan loves remotes too. Do you ever worry about the batteries in them? (bit of a theme going, but I mean the chemicals/heavy metals in this instance).

TwinklemEGGan · 09/04/2007 21:28

Oh yes, I meant to say before, Aidan's absolute fave toy at the moment is a large ball. And he loves books/magazines - especially if they're not his.

Had a lovely afternoon at my nephews 9th B'Day party. Picked DD1 up and she was all ready and waiting-shattered though. MIL didn't put a pull up on DD1 last night and she never wet herself. Sooo, we haven't put one on either. bet we are not so lucky.

Told my mum she had stayed at MIL's and I think she was a little upset. She said 'well, she can stay with me now'. I told her of course she could.

Can't believe agalch will be Mrs agalch now-hurrah!

Impy-DD1 has always been very trying. Has done me good having a break from her. She has been whinging all the way home and I stayed calm. Felt a little flicker of rage in my tummy but managed to put it out. Have to confess that I don't give enough attention to her-am really going to try and ignore the housework sometimes so I can play with her more. Trouble is, whatever I do with her is never enough.

Sophie's fave toys at the moment are her musical tortoise shape sorter, wooden animal shape pieces, wonder cubes and all her musical toys.

kayzed-another excellent pic of Roshi. Took a good one of Sophie in her sun hat but it was with my camera with a film in it. Need to get one with my phone camera to post as it was so cute.

prettymum-Sophie loves her big sister. DD1 loves her too luckily and is always dragging her round the room like a doll.

Diet starts again tomorrow so going to stuff some chocolate in a mo.

Hi to Bloss, mae, madness et all.

Night ladies

Crikey it has taken me ages to read through all the messages posted over the weekend ! Haven't got the memory to reply/comment on everyone individually - sorry !
KZ those photos are lovely, she is so grown up, my DD really does look like a little doll in comparison.

Will eventually get around to posting a photo of DD. How do I do it as a link thingy ??

I've not seen much of the good weather this weekend as was working nights Thu,Fri,Sat,Sun , hope we get some more good weather later in the year . Glad you all had good weekends though.

Don't know how you are all managing to diet, I keep trying (not for long !) but DH buys bad stuff and I can't bring myself to leave it !! Sat here now demolishing chocolates . Keep thinking that once they are gone I'll be good, but keep getting given more for various reasons !!

DD is now crawling everywhere and will not stay still !! Nappy changes are a nightmare ! I practically have to chase her around the room.... She is also cruising properly now, and every now and then lets go completely, looks shocked and plops down on her bum !!

Do you need to sterilise bottles any more now our LO's are almost 9 months ?? I've got a travel steriliser from Mothercare, but it is my 3rd (of the same thing) and this has now broken as well !! Just wondering if I need to get a replacement or if I can manage without ???

Have added my bit to the list :

jersey-is currently due with No3 in October 07
HumphreysCorner-will be having No3
usandnosleep- will be having No2
Iamblossom - will be having No3 (within the next year, if at all, I have been informed by DH....gulp)

Sohappyicouldcry - really want a No 2, not just yet though, need to persuade DH too !!

sohappyicouldcry · 10/04/2007 01:32

Have managed to resize some photos which are now on my profile page. You lot are so clever putting links on here, it's only taken me 2 hours to sort it !!!

Night night.... Fingers crossed I can sleep, still on night shift mode

Ceebee74 · 10/04/2007 07:33

Morning ladies

Bloss -what cute piccies of your boys with their easter bonnets (though Toby doesn't look too impressed with his does he?)

KZ - how cool does Roshi look in her poncho - what a fab idea.

Sohappy - lovely photos too - haven't we got the most yummy bunch of babies ever?? Re sterilising - I am still sterilising but I have seen threads on here that say it is ok to stop at 6 months although I think most of them say that dishwashers are hot enough to sterilise but I don't have a dishwasher (only DH )

Toys - Josh loves anything that Twinkle hates (wink) - electronic toys that play annoying tunes! He has a peekablock train which he just LOVES - hates having any peekablocks on it but will press the button to play the tune over and over and over again. He also loves his animal train - again, no animals are allowed in it (bit of a theme here!) Also loves remotes, DVD's, newspapers (oh and plug sockets ). I am thinking of buying a really cheap remote and not putting any batteries in it and then he can play with it without supervision.

Josh is fully recovered at last - I am so pleased. He is being an absolute delight at the moment and is SO happy all the time (more than usual which is saying something). Am off to my friends this afternoon where a few of us with children of various ages are meeting - should be fun.

Just a quick question - do all your lo's wear shoes yet? We only ever have Josh in socks (even when we go out) but should we start buying some soft shoes for him?

usandnosleep · 10/04/2007 08:25

Great pics KZ and Sohappy That bottom one Sohappy is scrummy!

My weekend didn't go as planned, had huge rows with DP Never mind still had choc to stuff.
Also had to entertain inlaws on 2 days.

Zack's favourite toys are the thing that Bloss showed you, musical instruments and pots, pans, spoons, sieves etc from the kitchen cupboard!
We use a toy library, it's great for stuff you wouldn't usually buy so might be worth finding out if there are any near you.

A new favourite food here is strawberries, Zack loves them!

usandnosleep · 10/04/2007 08:30

Sorry Bloss forgot about your pics, I can't wait to make stuff like that with Zack. I did an Easter egg hunt with my nephews which was a hit!

We bought Zack a pair of shoes on Friday, the groups I go to are held in church halls with polished wood floors and he is forever slipping and hurting himself.
I was unsure about getting them but he isn't going to wear them very often, felt really emotional about the fitting His size is 2 1/2 E- bless!
