HC, she sure will! As if I'm not busy enough. Still I'll doss around all day at work while DH runs after both of them and plays referee. Ah the joys!!

Lysettes · 19/03/2007 17:22

hi everyone and happy mothers day for yesterday. i had gone on and on about it so much there was no chance of anyone in our house forgetting! although dh and i had a massive row on the way to the pub for mothers day lunch. but then stayed there all afternoon with bil and a friend of his.

jacob still has no teeth but is trying really hard to get one through! he's also such a lot behind all of your lo's - he can't sit upright yet fully for any length of time and although when you pull him up he goes straight to standing he can't pull himself up at all yet. he is kind of belly shuffling backwards which dh is certain is crawling i'm not so sure though.

hc well done with your mil - i will have mine for 2 weeks in the summer and then 4 weeks next feb - she is fine it's just pil that causes me such a lot of grief!

jacob settling better with his naps although he has yet another cold which i have too and has gone to my chest , although his eating does seem to be picking up a little - he still doesn't eat a huge amount but is broadening what he does eat and does eat at 3 times a day - normally goes something like this:

breakfast at around 8am half to two thirds of a weetabix and some yoghurt

lunch at around 130ish either pureed veg or pureed veg and meat, then pureed fruit after with juice as well

dinner around 6ish veg and fruit or veg with lentils or meat then fruit - he only eats around a med size ice cube of each thing at each meal - is this enough or should i be trying to get him to have more?

i cheated today and bought a hipp spinach and cheesy potato bake to try him on it - i think i make the flavours a little too strong for him sometimes so thought i'd see what it should taste like! tonight he's having beef and veg with mashed potato - or pureed squash if he refuses the other gourmet experience

also bought some beetroot which i thought would be good to try tomorrow for lunch - anyone else tried this?

xxx

HumphreysCorner · 19/03/2007 20:17

Lysettes-don't worry about cheating. Sophie has mostly HIPP jars with a few of my meals thrown in. Tried ice cube trays with DD1 but when defrosted one just wasn't enough so ended up using 4 or 5 at a time. Was easier to cook and mash as required. Sophie only has 1/2 a jar of main and 1/2 a jar of desert and I wonder if she should have more. Problem is, Sophie will eat and eat until she is sick so have to try and gauge when she might be full. Crikey, there is no way I would have the outlaws staying with me!

Wallace · 19/03/2007 21:22

us - well done Zack on the waving Good luck for your appt, I think you are right to be confident. I can sympathise with the sleeping, Leo is starting to get a bit better again

pm - I find I always fall asleep more easily on the sofa too, then have to drag myself to bed, then can't get to sleep

cb - Keep repaeating that mantra "Food is just for fun until they're one" LEo had just got over the last bug, and has come down with a cough/cold. He has also had yucky eyes, but they suddenly got better after weeks of having to clean out the gunk every morning. Cute pic of Josh

maewest - Leo comes in with us too - he like his drink on tap

HC - well done on weight loss

Annie - well done Kayley!!! Commiserations about the rugby...

Bloss - well done on staying calm, that's half the battle. Haope you enjoyed yuor shepherds pie.

Lysettes - hope you feel better soon xx Can't help with the beetroot - my neighbour gave us some and they ended up rotting in hte cupboard then I put them in the compost heap

Well we had an eventful day. Decided to go into town (about 25 miles away) to do a wee bit of shopping. The weather is awful at the moment, lots of snow and very windy, so the roads are really bad. When we came to the main road the traffic was at a standstill, so we took the back road which hadn't been ploughed and there was about a foot of snow. I wanted dh to turn back but he wouldn't because we also had to pick his nephew up from college. We got past the traffic and rejoined the main road. There were cars abandoned all over the place, and vehicles skidding around.

When we finally got to town we heard on the radio that the road back home had been closed Then a friend texted me to say that the kids' school was closing and they were being sent home.... Luckily she picked them up for us, and the road did reopen and we did get home.

Then at supper time we realised our chimney was on fire Cue big red fire engine

All okay however, and now off for nice hot bath

PavlovtheCat · 19/03/2007 22:45

Hey all, been soooo busy these last few days, and now I have a horrendous lot of posts to catch up on.
Am going to bed in a mo, but wanted to say hi and hope all is well.

Also, anyone having trouble with their LOs biting/piunching? My DD is quite strong and likes to grab bits of my flesh in her little fingers and pinch away, or bite me quite hard with her two little gorgeous teeth. I am covered in little red marks! She especially likes to grab the skin under my chin when she is BF. (or bash my boobs!). Any ideas how to deal with it. She is not at all bothered when I say no, thinks it is rather amusing if anything, and she is soo cute with it, although it often bloody hurts, I cant be angry with her!"!!

Pavlov - DS often like this while bf (when he was tiny I would swaddle him, but too big and strong for this now!). It's easier if he has something to occupy his hands, I was wearing a top yesterday with a tie at the neck and he amused himself undoing this and tugging on it. Much nicer than being scratched and punched. You can try a nursing necklace maybe? And you're right, they don't understand that it's uncomfortable for you, just a big game

Wallace! How exciting! Any tasty firemen? Ds1 would have been beside himself with excitement at the fire engine. Your car journey sounds like a total nightmare did you have leo in the car too?

Pav, DS1 used to lie in my arms drinking his bottle, and casually find my spare tyre(s) and DIG HIS NAILS IN! OOOOOOCH! Toby pulls my hair too, little monkey.

Going to visit my friend's baby this morning, she lost her first at birth last year, so this baby is particulary special, I can't wait to meet her. She sent our other friend a text last week saying "I am totally knackered, and my boobs are killing me, and I have never been so happy in my whole life" Brought tears to my eyes, so god knows how I will be when I see her!

Where are you KZ? How are you feeling today? Thinking of you. Guys, KZ is feeling rather low at the moment, and has not had a minute off forever, big hugs to her.

have great days girls.

Bloss

PS, Shephers Pie was actually rather edible, amazingly. Is it wrong that I want a new food processor?

PavlovtheCat · 20/03/2007 08:35

Nails in my chin again this morning, you know that little bit right under the chin/throat? OUch. Yes, hair pulling too, I am trying to grow my hair for wedding, so its long enough to pull hard, but to short to tie back.... DP's answer? Same as to every problem that might occur. 'stop breastfeeding'. FFS. He says it every time, like if I dare complain, i should just stop there and then. yeah right!

Blos - you so should get a new food processor!

KZ - i hope you are feeling ok? Let us know you are alright hun. Sending hugs to you [[hugs]].

Wil catch up posts this morning some time. DP is having a lie-in...

PavlovtheCat · 20/03/2007 08:40

Mae - I wear a necklace which she often plays with, and sometimes she is ever so gentle with her playing, she often turns her hand around and does a very cute coy thing with it, and it feels wonderful, even her hair pulling can be gentle and almost wistful, but more often than not, its 'ouch'! Her biting is, mostly when she is telling me she is hungry, but not always. She gets this 'evil' look in her eye before she does it! I blame DP for that, as he has been teaching her to bite noses, which she absolutely 6lurves6 doing!

Maybe I shall try a different necklace, perhaps she is bored of this one!!!

Ceebee74 · 20/03/2007 09:34

Morning

Wallace - what a day - although I am sure it was improved by the appearance of hunky firemen!

KZ - sending you {{{{{hugs}}}}} - I do appreciate how are you feeling as I feel a bit like that too although I only have 1 child and I do get a 'break' for the 3 days I work - but DH is away Monday to Friday and I have no family close/available to help out. Me and DH haven't had an evening out together since Josh was born as we have no-one to babysit - makes me feel quite sad thinking about it.

HC - big congrats on the weight loss - you were obviously doing something right last week - fingers crossed for the shiny stone next week - I made a mistake on my weigh-in - I stayed the same which is slightly better than putting a pound on

Josh can be quite 'aggressive' too - his favourite trick is to put is fingers up my nostrils, grip them together and then pull hard - ouch!! Fortunately when I am giving him his bottle, he just waves his hand in the air a lot rather than trying to grab me.

He weighed 18lb 3oz yesterday so he has regained the weight he lost which is a relief and is now hovering between 25th and 50th centile. Was very embarrassed though as he has bad nappy rash so the HV was inspecting his groin and there was a bit of yellow poo in the crease between his groin and his leg that I must have missed - why do these things always happen to me?? She was very good and said I will pretend I haven't seen it but still.....

PavlovtheCat · 20/03/2007 10:00

Sorry all, I did not say morning.
So
Morning everyone.
what a glorious day here in Devon. I hope its the same for all of you ladies .

PavlovtheCat · 20/03/2007 10:14

Beadmum and firstatforty - thanks for support re nursery. Good to know it is worse for us. Tomorrow she is going in for a short day 8am - 3:30pm, although I will go in to feed her twice. We are taking advantage of her being away and clearing our yard in prep for summer/possible laying of astro-turf stuff (you know, playground stuff?). Going to the tip/bottle bank etc, so hopefully will keep my mind occupied .

PavlovtheCat · 20/03/2007 10:16

Prettymum - good luck on driving test .
I passed mine the fourth time. 4 days before DD arreived .

PavlovtheCat · 20/03/2007 10:21

Annie - you poor thing on mothers day . I guess this will be me also next year. As it was my first I did not give DP any opp to forget. I had smoked salmon ommellete, an orchid, box chocolates, walk up to the top of the tallest waterfall in UK (canonteign falls), m&s picnic, and champers in the evening. Next year, it will be homemade card at 6pm!!!

PavlovtheCat · 20/03/2007 10:22

sorry didnt mean to gloat there

usandnosleep · 20/03/2007 14:09

Afternoon all

KZ- {{hugs}} It's very hard with no-one around to help out for a couple of hours, I think you're amazing.
I wish we all lived closer to each other.

Ceebee- those things happen to us all, we had a paed appointment yesterday and I hadn't put Zack's nappy on properly and he was soaked through
Good news about Josh's weight, you must be very relieved.

Bloss- so pleased for your friend, I bet they make a wonderful family.

Pav- Zack plays with my bra or my hair during feeds, it can be quite relaxing!

Wallace- What a day! Hope today is more successful.

Lysettes- I would follow Jacob's lead, if he seems happy with the meals he is having I would just go with it. Up it if he starts regulrly needing more milk.

Annie- congrats to Kayley! Hope you survive your MIL's visit....

HC- I have been having a rough time, coping with it just about though. Exhaustion does get the better of me every now and then and I have a good cry and then just carry on.
I just keep saying to myself it won't last forever!

Mae- Do whatever it takes to get some sleep! Zack sleeps no better if he sleeps in with me

The paed appt went well, nothing to worry about. Zack is small for his age and underweight but nothing to overly concern them. Colds and bugs are fine too it's when they constantly turn into infections that we should be concerned.
Relief all round! We have to go back in July for a check up but thats it for now.

Zack just woke best be off and make his lunch x

HumphreysCorner · 20/03/2007 14:13

Afternoon ladies

Sophie is a right wriggler when feeding-always pulling off to look around the room but ends up biting me in the process. She reaches and sticks her fingers on my lips so am always cutting her nails.

Ceebee-not as bad as you thought Josh is doing well too. lol at the poo incident-the HV shouldn't even have mentioned it.

Wallace-we have just got hailstones and wind here. Infact, the phone rang at 11-30pm last night just as I had managed to nod off and it was an automated flood warning and to make sure all people and pets were upstairs. My cat was out so had to go and shout him but he never came as too busy out on the tiles. Doh-took ages to get back to sleep again. Our chimney needs sweeping so must remind DH or we will be seeing the local hunky firemen

prettymum-I took 5 driving tests and so did my friend so you will be fine.

Bloss-well, you should get a food processor but would you use it?

DH has been shouting down the phone at me over finances-quite upset me. I try and manage his accounts but if he will draw cash out and not tell me how can I help it if he goes OD! And we got the Council Tax letter and it has gone up to £150

Have cleaned my oven (first time in ages) and baked some cakes. Sophie is in bed so going to catch up on some Nip/Tucks.

Love to all.

Lysettes · 20/03/2007 17:00

hey everyone

kz sending you lots and lots of {{{{{{{hugs}}}}}}} - you are absolutely amazing and i have the greatest of respect for you

thanks for the advice ladies - jacob is drinking more milk now but refusing to eat more solids.... not sure how to approach this one - even made a song and dance about butternut squash at lunch which is normally a favourite.

last night was a success though - pureed beef carots and broccoli (yes the devils food ) mixed with cheesy mash - a wierd and wonderful combination i know, but he ate a fair bit of it. did however drink lots and lots of milk after and then about 40 mins aftergoing to sleep but then went till 330 before waking hungry! woke with a bad dream at about 12 but cuddle ansd straight back to sleep

good news is at the creche they remarked how well he is sitting now which has made me so happy - i am worried that he will be slow to pick things up because of being so prem but seems to be ok at the moment

hc well done on the weight - i have started again since holiday and have gone fron 11st 13 and today weighed in with a 2lb weight loss - long way to go
xxxx

KZ - wow what a big decision but I can tell from what you have written that it is the right one - and so glad you won't be leaving us - it was so quiet when you were on your hols - so Roshi is going to grow up as an Aussie babe and Ds a surfer dude eh??

HC - at your DH - he should be grateful that you do the finances for him, not shouting at you - men uh??

Josh is now waving and kissing (well, sucking my lips or sticking his tongue in when asked) - so so cute!! I know I keep saying this but as a first-timer, I never realised how rewarding it is

Ceebee74 · 20/03/2007 18:04

KZ the was at whether I really could tell from what you had written - not about what you had written iyswim!
