May I take the liberty of starting a new thread ladies?

Twinkle- I put being ill all the time just down to the pregnancy and bf sucking my body dry of all its nutrients etc. I was ill after having DD for a while but it did get better after a while.

As in regards to activity tables we have a leapfrog one that ds sits in. BTBH it only keeps him happy for a short while until he gets fed up of it and goes back to throwing toys on the floor. Its annoying isnt it esp when their in the highchair and throw the finger food out!

FirstAtForty · 17/03/2007 23:17

Twinkle I have this one

Baby Einstein

Not from this seller, I got mine for just under £50 inc delivery from one of those bulk sellers on Ebay, it was 'reconditioned' or something - arrived in a very bashed box with no manual but the thing itself looked new

She loves it, how long she's content to stay in it depends on her mood, but it can be up to 20 mins. If I have to leave her playing on her own for a while I'm happier to put her in this than leave her sitting on the floor as she has a tendency to keel over unexpectedly from sitting, whereas with this she can't escape (yet) or keel over!

Twinklemegan · 17/03/2007 23:32

Ooh, they're both a bit expensive for us at this time - thanks anyway.

Happy Mother's Day for tomorrow everyone! Especially to all my fellow first-timers - hope you all get flowers and breakfast in bed (fat chance here methinks). Did anyone else's LO make a Mother's Day card at nursery? (soo cute!)

HAPPY MOTHERS DAY!!!! [SMILE]

well didnt get anything here! nice for the appreciation!

kbaby- glad you had a good holiday regarding sleep and naps, i leave junior to cry himself to sleep when he's tired. he only gets more irritated when i try comforting him to sleep and i end up getting frustrated.

hope you dd is only going through a phase, my dd is starting to throw tantrums more often now as well, but not really hitting.
{{{{hugs}}}}

IamBlossom · 18/03/2007 13:17

Happy Mothers Dsy, HC you'll be knee deep in mushroom mousse by now! hope it's going well.

I got two cards (one from each boy) and some chocs. Dh has redeemed himself from other years when I have got diddly. Also got some flowers and a card from my BF left on the doorstep thanking me for being such a help to her in her first nightmare week, and asking me to be god mother! Awww....

Kbaby glad Barcelona was good. Don't worry about DS's "lack" of progress, he is just a completely different kid to DD and will catch up I'm sure....I also let Toby cry for naps in the day, although if I get the timing right sometimes he just shuts his eyes and off he goes.....although other times it's maybe 5-7 mins of crying.

Gotta go.

Bloss

Evening ladies

They have all gone home Had a lovely day and the mushroom soup and orange and lemon mousse was a success-yay! Have eaten 3000 WW points but it was worth it.

Let MIL and SIL bath the girls but had to intervene as they were both roaring. I said that bathtime is usually calm and MIL took offence and said it wasn't her fault. Er, yes as she is too hyper. Then MIL said Sophie couldn't possibly need her over sleepsuit on as it was too hot. She kept making snide comments so I ignored her.

I did get a card this year and picked 2 tops out of Tesco yesterday.

kayzed-not like you to feel the strain hun. Is DH not giving you enough support. My DH doesn't help out with the DC, cooking or housework but at least I have family and friends close by. It must be hard for you at the moment especially as you have just spent all those weeks with your lovely family. Is there any chance of them coming to stay for a holiday or are you and your DC able to go later on this year so you have some light at the end of the tunnel. ((hugs))

prettymum-not even a card then? Strong words needed so the error is not repeated next year.

kbaby-glad you had a good time. Thought the child facilities would be better as they are quite child friendly in Espania. Have to at your DD as she sounds the same as mine. She copies what I do and say when telling her off and I think crikey, do I really do that My PIL said, on their way out tonight, she'll grow out of it. WHEN ? ? ? DD1 has been 'off on one' again today and has already decided she is going to be ill tomorrow so won't be able to go to nursery Nice pic BTW.

Bloss-godmother eh? Nice

Twinkle-rotten colds. Once you get one they come again and again-bit like waiting for a bus really. You wait ages for one then they all come at once. Hope you feel better soon.

Hi to everyone else. DH said he is a Mumsnet widow-TOUGH

Gargh..can't keep up!

I like to reply to eveyone, but just don't have time tonight.

Happy Mothers Day all. Sorry some of you had a crap one. Mine was okay..not very diferent to a usuual Sunday. Apart from dh took Leo downstairs, brought me a cup of tea, and came back to bed

Leo has started clapping! So cute Also looking like he wants to crawl - when he is sitting he leans right forward until he gets his bottom right off the ground. He has also suddenly started standing when I hold him (typically he waited until I had had to tell the HV that he wouldn't bear weight on hs legs!)

No teeth at all here either! Ds1 was 8 months when he got his first tooth, and dd was 10 months.

usandnosleep · 18/03/2007 22:17

Hello all

Haven't posted for a few days and I'm a bit behind with all you news. Hope you're all well

Happy Mothers Day to you all, have had quite a good day and visited some family.

Sorry to hear you're having some tough nights KZ, I'm sure Roshi will settle down again soon {{hugs}} Your DH deserves a little slap

Well done Leo! Bet he looks adorable!

HC, your MIL makes me mad, I don't know how you put up with her

Bloss, how nice of your friend

Pretty, your DP deserves a slap too. Remind him that Fathers Day isn't too far away......

Twinkle, hope you feel better soon and your DP/H pampered you today.

Hi kbaby, Barcelona sounds lovely, like the pic of your little sandboy! Zack has that outfit but is away off from fitting it yet.

First, it sounds like Emma is doing great Hope your great nights continue!

Agalch, did your DD get her shoes? And about the sleeping arrangements you know your DC better than anyone, trust your instincts I reckon

And a BIG hello to everyone else who hasn't posted in the last couple of days xx

Zack is sleeping TERRIBLY! He is worse than ever, waking 4,5,6+ times a night.
I did try CC again but it's really not for us, Zack gets hysterical, sobbing and standing up at the cot bars and then falls and hurts himself

Fingers crossed he has been eating over the last few days so thats one less thing to worry about! He had cheese sandwiches for lunch today!

He has 2 teeth at the bottom and has another couple either side of these on their way.

I went out for a couple of hours last night and it did me good although me and my friend talked babies all night
I have plans to go out the next 2 Saturdays too Both girls nights, yay!

We have our paed appt. in the morning, I'm not sure we really need it but at least if we go it will get the HV's off my back! And hopefully we can be reassured that we just have a very fussy and independent little boy

Zack has started to wave! It looks so lovely and he is putting his new skill to use at every opportunity. He was even waving goodbye to people in the pub today, he was thrilled when they waved back!

Well I think that's my news, I should really try to get on here more often and then I wouldn't have to write a flippin' essay

Night, night xx

prettymum · 19/03/2007 02:04

yey i got some flowers and a teddy this evening!

Ceebee74 · 19/03/2007 08:07

Morning everyone - hope everyone's Mothers Day went well. I got a card and a watch (which I did pick out myself) as I wanted something special as it is my first one.

Had MIL, BIL and gf round for lunch yesterday so I didn't exactly get to put my feet up though!

Twinkle - Josh has got no teeth either - an no sign of any!!
I have also pretty much had a permanent cold since Josh was born (as has Josh) - I think there might be something in what your colleague says tbh - me and DH have never had so many colds! Plus, I think starting nursery makes it worse.

KZ - {{{{[hugs}}}} to you - hope things improve (will go and check out your other thread)

Kbaby - glad Barcelona was good - the photo is lovely and your DS looks like he is having so much fun.

Bloss - what a lovely gesture from your friend - you must be chuffed

Not much to report here - Josh still snotty and sniffly, his eyes are much better though thankfully. I am trying to build up his solids again (slowly) so he is only on 1 small meal a day at the moment - which is quite bad for an 8 month old isn't it? He doesn't seem in the least bit hungry though so I am not going to rush it.

Bloody HV - they sent me an appointment for his 8-month check for this Wednesday but as I am at work, I have rung and left messages TWICE to ask them to come out to see me on a Monday or Tuesday and has she bothered to ring me back??? Has she heck - I am really annoyed as it is a bit rude!

Anyway, another week where it is just me and Josh until Friday night - going to get him weighed today and hopefully he will have put weight on.

MaeWest · 19/03/2007 08:20

Morning all - nice to hear from you usandnosleep, sorry the nights aren't any better. Things are so so here, mainly because I give up at about 1am and DS comes in with us . Still, some nights he only wakes up once, has a feed and goes back to sleep again, those are the nights I dream about (or I would if I was ever asleep long enough to dream... ).

No mothers day card etc here either, was a little peeved especially as I reminded DH to get a card for his mum, and posted it for him! But DH is pretty good most of the time, so not so bad I spose.

DS has another tooth, so now has bottom two. And very sharp they are too, has only bitten my finger so far... Ceebee - brekkie is the only good meal that DS has, and then it is fairly small. This morning he had about half a weetabix and some pieces of plum. Lunchtime I give him bits and pieces of what I'm having, sometimes roasted/steamed veggies etc. Sometimes he eats, sometimes it gets thrown around, I'm trying to be relaxed about it. Think my mum thinks I should 'stretch' DS out between breastfeeds so that he is more hungry for solids, but I'm a bit about that.

OP posts:
Ceebee74 · 19/03/2007 08:24

Mae - makes me feel better that Josh isn't the only 'poor' eater. I am using the 'until they are 1, food is just for fun' mantra so I would carry on with your bf and ignore your mother!

Ceebee74 · 19/03/2007 08:34

Sorry for the multiple posts but couldn't resist this.

here is Josh in his fancy dress outfit for his party at nursery last Friday - not very original but he looked so cute!

HumphreysCorner · 19/03/2007 10:33

Morning all

Forgot to say that as me and MIL were both wearing lipstick she insists on kissing lip to lip. Eeeeuuuuggghhhhhh!!!!!! Forgot that we did it at Christmas too.

us-nice to hear from you. You seem to be having a rough time of it especially at night. The older they get the worse it is when they cry. Enjoy your girly nights. If I ever meet up with my friends without our children we always talk about babies too. Let us know how the paed appointment goes.

Ceebee-I have stayed the same 3 weeks running and am fearing the worst tonight. My line chart is now horizontal This time next week we will both be litres lighter especially if it is just you and Josh to see to. Josh looked so cute in his footie outfit.

prettymum-what time did you go to bed?

Hope everyone has a nice day. Very cold and windy here in Lincolnshire.

Morning everyone!

Gutted about the rugby, so close...
And did I get bladdered on Paddy's day??? I had one beer. That was just before bed. Then DS puked up three times during the night. His pasta came back up undigested. Nice. Three changes of sheets and vests and sleepsuits. Then woke up on Mother's day, and got nothing... we all went for a walk to Sainsburys, then suddenly, DH remembers...
So he bought a bottle of wine and a terry's chocolate orange. He wanted me to have some flake thing which was on offer 20% off, but I prefered the chocolate orange. It was still cheaper.
And that was it... when we got home, he quickly made me a little homemade card from the two.
Oh well. Maybe next year!

Kayley is crawling!!! Yaaay! She has been trying for a couple of weeks now, and yesterday, she managed a few 'steps'. And now as well she holds her hands up in the air, and pulls herself up to standing. So it won't be long before I have two toddling around.
She still has no teeth, Twinkle, nor any signs of them coming through.

HC Bless you for putting up with your MIL. Mine's coming AGAIN next week, so I'll take your pain then. Ooh they make me
Ceebee, K is a very poor eater too. Only really eats a spoonful or two of cereal a day. No fruit or veg or yohgurt or anything like that. Don't they get fed up of milk though?
She's also rubbish at sleeping...

Bloss congrats on being Godmother!!

Algach, not long to go now til you are a blushing bride. It'll be so FAB!!

Best go, me dears. Boss is away this week so I'll be skiving lots, but best at least do something.

Have a good week everyone

Annie

IamBlossom · 19/03/2007 13:05

Hurray! The Tobster has teeth! Well one anyway. So proud of my lump of love....

DS1 on the other hand has just put me through the BIGGEST and the LONGEST tantrum of his short life. It started over scissors, lasted through assembling Toby's new toy (which is fabberoonie) endured through our walk to the post box and back, was undented by spending at least 45 minutes in his bedroom, and has only stopped as he is now asleep. KERRISST!! I was calm and stubborn, and tried to ignore it on the most part, to the point where he was sobbing "Why aren't you talking to me Mummy?" "Er because you're being a little shit sweetheart perchance?" Of course I didn't say that, but was very tempted....If he didn't insist on waking up at 5.30 he wouldn't be beside himself with tiredness by 11am! Poor Toby just stared and stared and stared as if to say WTF!!

Off to make a Shepherds Pie....

Bloss

xx

HumphreysCorner · 19/03/2007 14:17

Lol Bloss-why is it that they manage to calmly ask why we aren't talking to them and then carry on with the loud tantrum? Ho hum!

HumphreysCorner · 19/03/2007 14:18

Brill news on the teeth BTW. Time to mind those sneeky little nips.

prettymum · 19/03/2007 14:34

annie- congrats to kayley on crawling!!junior also pulls himself up! but its no so fun when he does it when its time for a nap!

bloss- congrats to ds on his first tooth!! why do toddlers have to be so trying!!

us- hope things improve with the sleep soon! at least you had a good night out to take you mind off it!

hc- dp and i fell asleep at 11 on the couch and woke at 1.30am to junior screaming! we just end up going bed late most nights, but dps seems to have insomnia!!

ceebee- josh is so cute! he looks so much older than 8 months in that pic too and loving the outfit!

dd teasing junior on the floor better get it under control before both start screaming!

HumphreysCorner · 19/03/2007 15:23

Annie-forgot to congratulate Kayley on crawling. She will keep you active now
