Hi all

MaeWest - so glad you got a good night. Makes such a difference doesn't it? Now that T sleeps through (most nights - have I just jinxed myself{hmm]?) I'm feeling pretty chipper myself! Hope it's the first of many for you.

Bloss - great that things are looking up for you too. Am envious of nature walk, I had to spend the day sorting out the teetering mountain of paperwork piled up on my desk. What a waste.

HC - don't stress about the sugar. As long as they know that sweets are occasional treats, and they clean their teeth properly and regularly it's fine. Rather that than they turn into the kind of kids that pig out til they're sick at parties because they aren't allowed anything sweet and tasty at home!

My Q of the day is - how much do your LOs sleep? I worked out today that T is only actually awake for between 7.5 and 9 hours in 24... Not that I'm complaining, he's a pretty happy little soul, bless him.

On that note I'm going to hit the hay myself.
Night all x

maewest- congrats to your ds fpr the first!!! let us know how u keep up with the bf!!

rant alert!! my family are so effed!! my mum wants to see me and the kids and i think my dad is coming round!! but becuse my older brother said he doesnt want nothing to do with me, its the end to that!! aaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh they cant get over the fact i left home and will only accept me back if my dp converts!

had to get that off my chest

Ceebee74 · 09/03/2007 07:21

Mae - well done - you must feel great - hope last night was the same (and I haven't jinxed it).

Pretty - what a difficult situation you are in - I am sure you would love to see your parents (and for them to see your lo's) - shame about your brother

French - Josh sleeps 12 hours at night and on non-nursery days, he has 3-4 naps so probably about 2-3 hours in total so he his only awake for about 9 hours a day.

HC - really hope Sophie improves - I am the expert of baby puke and it really is awful constantly being on edge waiting for the next lot.

KZ - sad news about the blanket

Well, the saga with Josh continues... he now has conjunctivitis (sp?) on top of his cold, cough and puking - I really am at the end of my tether with it and just wondering when the hell I am going to have a well baby again Fortunately he is a happy chap pretty much all the time and doesn't seem to suffer at all but I don't like seeing him poorly all the time. Plus can't take him to nursery today cos of his eyes so yet another day off (my boss is going to be SO pleased!) and yet another trip to the doctors.

Ceebee74 · 09/03/2007 07:21

Ooh lots of in there - here are some happy ones to balance it out

MaeWest · 09/03/2007 08:04

Prettymum - sorry you're having probs with your family, their loss I think. Still maybe it is a positive sign if your parents wanted to get in touch?

HC - not looking forward to biting, he went through a phase a couple of months ago of slipping back off the nipple and bashing his gums together on the tip . Really want to continue with bf as I've got this far, but we shall see...

Last night was not so good, but OK because i wasn't so knackered. Both me and DS are still pretty congested, he was unsettled from 1am and I gave up at 3am and brought him in with us. Think we were all disturbing each other what with me coughing, DS snuffling and DH snoring . Still, weekend ahead and DH can help with settling him at ungodly hours. Once I come into the room DS thinks the all night milk bar is open!

When DS does sleep he tends to have 12-13 hrs overnight (usually punctuated by an early morning feed). He goes to bed pretty early, usually asleep by 6.30/7.00pm. Day naps are a bit all over the place, but he does seem to want a nap in his cot after breakfast and is usually asleep about 2 hrs or so after he got up. At the moment he seems to want a long nap in the morning (yesterday was nearly 2 hrs) and then the afternoon I usually have to walk round the park mid-afternoon to get him to have a little kip to last him until bedtime. I do feed him to sleep for the morning nap tho .

Hi everyone

I wish there was a yawning emoticon, I would use it LOTS. I'm pretty fed up, I can't see Zack's sleep improving any day soon He is waking 3-4 times a night.
DP is going to take the monitor on Saturday night and he is going to try to settle him, I know Zack though and I think he will just wake hourly. And if DP dares to complain on Sunday that he is tired.................

Zack is doing ok with meals, mealtimes aren't very enjoyable though because he complains almost the whole time! He is taking milk well at the moment though.

Zack has a tooth through at the bottom (no bites as yet) and there is another one just beneath the surface too.

The Quinny is great for shopping trips because it's small, lightweight and very easy to manouvre but is rubbish on any slightly rough terrain. I can't use it on local walks because the pavements around here are very uneven. I think I will have to buy another one for summer walks

Cee bee {{{{hugs}}}} for you and Josh xx

Zack has a 90 minute nap in the morning, and one or two 60-90 minute naps in the afternoon. He has 10-11 hours of brokken sleep at night.

Pretty- so sorry about your family. I agree it does sound positive thogh, maybe a bit more time?

Mae- Its your 30th this year isn't it? Its mine this summer and I can't think of something I'd like. Have you any plans?

Zack has discovered the dvd player and freeview box. What do I do I can't sit in front of it all day!
Better go before he does some damage

Ceebee74 · 09/03/2007 08:44

Us - Josh is the same with the DVD player, sky box etc so we have put a v-shaped cushion used to aid sitting (that someone bought us for Josh but he can sit up ok now so we don't use it) on the floor in front of the tv and he can't reach them now - although I am sure it won't be long before he learns to climb up onto it.

IamBlossom · 09/03/2007 09:23

HC, and KZ, the puking sounds hard, hope they grow out of it soon. Your washing must be horrendous!

US, the lack of sleep sounds so hard too, hpe it changes very soon for you.

Toby sleeps for about 45 mins at 9am, again at about 3pm and from 6pm to 6am most nights.

KZ, he is still refusing most bottles. I can get about 4oz down him when I go back in to feed him in his sleep at night. I spoke to the HV about it, and she said he wil get all essential minerals from Weetabix, and there is lots of fluids in yoghurt, and to just keep offering water

prettymum · 09/03/2007 09:38

morning everyone

frenchleave- re sleep-
junior ia currently having a nap after waking around 6.50am.he will probably have another nap around 11-12 and another around 3-4 and probably for 1/2 - 1 hour. in the evening he goes to bed at 7.30pm and has a drink around 1am and will sleep till 6.30-7.00 am.

us- hope the sleep improves!!

bloss- hope toby starts drinking more milk soon so you dont have to worry so much!

ceebee- poor jish! hope he gets better soon!!

better get off pc, need to get ready to go and have junior given the BCG!!

have a lovely day ladies!

prettymum · 09/03/2007 09:39

ceebee- meant josh not jish!

IamBlossom · 09/03/2007 09:57

hey pretty mum, family thing sounds hard, the politics thing eh? Who needs it?

Right back on to finish my post, DS1 was nagging so had to log off. I am hideously hungover, but being very brave. Had a great night out with the girls, the evening goes so fast, all of sudden it's time to go home! Taxi there and back cost me £35 plus drinks and dinner but it was worth every penny.

KZ, I love ure buggy, see loads of them down here and I am very jealous. The Tobester still rides in our Mothercare Urban Detour most of the time, Iand DS1 walks or I sit him astride the top of it if he gets tired. I only use our double Buggy when I am shopping and walking round town which isn't very often to be honest.

Relations have improved between DS1 and Dh in the last couple of days thank god. Last night I was (dream) feeding Toby so DH had to do DS1's bath and was really calm, and insisted through the protests and they had a bath together and DS1 let him do the whole thing, and bok reading and bed time! Result! He was dead chuffed, long may it last. I was sitting in the dark nursery, willing DH to stay calm and see it through and for DS1 to stop whinging and they managed it, hurray.

Put Toby down at 8.30am and he is still asleep! Going to the sportscentre soft play thing this morning when he gets up. So far DS1 has been allowed Toy Story AND Chitty Chitty Bang bang, haven't got the energy to play with him this morning, bad mummy.

BTW, DS1 actually prefers fruit to sweet things (as a result of my training I feely admit) and has lots of "tasty" food.....I have no problem whatsoever with him having treats, that's what grandparents are for, and am not a party nazi, banning everything all the other kids are eating, but I am a very strong believer in teaching healthy choices in this obese society

Afternoon ladies

Have managed to get to baby swim class this morning for the first time in 6 weeks-yay! Sophie and me are actually cold free Only 2 classes left so have enrolled again which takes me until June which is after my due date to go back to work-whoops

Bloss-well done you having a blast last night. The hangover will improve every hour that passes. Meant to say that DD1 always wanted Daddy to put her to bed and was quite rude to me if I came anywhere near her bedroom. One day DH had had enough and insisted that mummy came up too and read a story. She screamed and protested all the time so tried to ignore her. We then did it that DH would leave the room so we were alone. After that DD1 now asks me to put her to bed sometimes and occasionally several nights running which upsets DH. Sophie still not interested in milk but I mix her weetabix and ready brek with lots of full fat milk.

Ceebee-have just finished ironing the masses of clothes. Am spending a fortune on that Vanish powder you put in with the wash powder. Hope Josh gets over his eye infection-what a devil of a job it is to get the ointment on each eye (or drops if that is what you have) Sympathise with the work thing-I think that is part of the reason I don't want to go back as if I only work 9 hours a week it is a sure thing that Sophie will be ill on those 2 days. I hated sending DD1 round to grandparents when she was ill. When I think that me and Sophie were unwell for 6 weeks running if I have forced myself to go in I would probably still be ill now!

prettymum-poor you. How can your brother dictate to your parents? What a sad, sad situation ((hugs))

us-((hugs)) to you too. I agree that there should be a yawning smiley. I think that some babies seem to wake in the night whatever you try. One of my friend's DS2 has just turned one and he still wakes a few times a night and she has tried everything. I don't mean to be the bearer of bad tidings but want you to know that you aren't doing anything wrong IYSWIM. Your DH is going to take a turn so I hope you get the benefit of several hours sleep.

kayzed-Sophie has a nap on her gym mat at about 10-30am until about 11-30am then if I am at home she will go in her cot in the afternoon between 1 and 1-30pm and will sleep for a couple of hours.

Better get on. Have a good afternoon ladies.

xxx

Beadmum · 09/03/2007 17:00

ceebee - hope josh is better soon

kz- oh no !!! typical isnt to buy a new and very expensive product and something happens to it straightaway!!

beadman- glad you and dh had a lovely time and had some time to yourselves!

hc- how is sophie like when you go swimming? my local pool is reopening after being closed for 2 years so want to start taking dc and im sure dd wil love it.

bloss-great news about you ds and dhs relationship improving!! im so about your night out! my friends dont bother ringing me anymore so dont have a chance to go out!

junior shocked me today, first he managed to pull himself up whilst having his bath and then when i left him in his cot to bring dd out, i came back and found he had pulled himself up!!

and when i put him down for bed, 5 mins later he started crying and went to find him standing again!! time to lower the mattress me thinks!! he's growing too fast now!!

regarding my family, my sis made a comment which really made me think that i should leave things as it is- she said' im not racist but it will take time to get used to your kids as your children are half black and we're used seeing asian children in our family!'- should i just give up now?

have to get off, junior sleeping now and have a huge mess to clear up! kz maybe you should come over and help me!

prettymum-Sophie absolutely loves the swimming pool. Took her from 12 weeks old.

Can't believe your sister either

P.S. You always seem to be cleaning.

jom · 10/03/2007 07:40

Haven't been on for a couple of days -lots to catch up on!!

Pretty must be very hard for you. Hopefully they will come to their senses soon and have your lovely family in their lives. LOL at HCs comment about you always cleaning - you must have a very tidy flat!!

HC- I've been waiting for the weather to get a little warmer to take the DCs swimming. Should really look into it now as I have 2.5 hours when DS is at nursery and could take Amelia. What does Sophie wear for her swims? Have you seen some of the gorgeous swimmers for LOs in the shops now?

KZ- lovely pics, as always, of your DCs! Sorry to hear about the accident - well handled though!!

Bloss- Well said about the sweet food thing. I am pretty much the same as you on this one and am very lucky as both DCs seem very good eaters and will try anything (although its only v. early days with Amelia obviously) DS is always raiding the fridge (dread to think what he'll be like as a teenager!) but always goes for the healthy stuff - can't keep up the demand on the cherry toms he absolutley loves them!! Lazytown has also come in handy- "sports candy!"

Us- Amelia has been really bad at sleeping through the night recently waking around 3 - 4 times and only going back to sleep after a feed. Am really going to try to start to break it this weekend as shes just getting into really bad habits. I had been starting to try to get her out of it then she get croup and then developed a nasty chesty cough - seems well now though so hopefully the time is right as its driving me mad, luckily shes an absolute angel of the day. (Helps me forgive her!!) Last night was good - she woke at 10.3O and 1am both these times I tried to settle her without a feed but she wasn't having it so gave her a quick feed and she went straight back to sleep. She then woke at 5am and I managed to settle her without a feed and she woke at 6.45 and actually had a feed- normally not interested when I get her up for the day as she's been up all night feeding!! She actually used to sleep though at about 8 weeks of age so I know she can do it the little monkey - just want her to do it again!!

Maewast - hope your family's health improves soon!

Pavlov- thanks for your nice comments about Amelias name, we like it! Isabella is a lovley name too!! Haven been meaning to say sorry about your Mum. I lost my MIL just before Xmas and have seen how hard it is for my DH and his family. We were just saying the other day how she'd be loving Amelia now with all her sitting, moving about and constant babbling so I can totally understand how you're feeling. I believe my MIL is able to see whats happening anyway and take comfort in that. Its not easy. Hugs to you.xxxx

Must post this mammoth one before I do something and lose it Byee, good weekends to all.

kbaby · 10/03/2007 09:43

Hello, Ive missed you all, I feel as if im missing out on the conversations.

Just a quick note to Wallace and Us. Just remember that when you?re all up with your DS I will be too. Its crap having a baby who doesn?t like sleep isn?t it? DS woke every hr on Monday but then got his first tooth on Wednesday so im hoping that?s why. That said in his room we have a cot, cradle and travel cot because im trying them all to see which he sleeps best in. At the moment the travel cot is winning with only 2 wakings.

I did leave him cry on Monday night as he went to sleep at 8.30pm and then woke at 9 while I was in the bath and I tried to settle him but only ended up dripping water all over the floor so just got back in the bath and after 3 mins he was asleep again. We may start CC soon although my HV said not b4 10 months but im not sure I can hold out that long.

Iamblos- Your DH does sound like mine. He moaned on Saturday about me not spending time with his and then this week, went to gym tues night, worked late wed night and gym again fris night and is now planning on spending all today in the pub watching the rugby while I look after kids and pack for the hols tomorrow(we got ds passport yesterday)

My top stain removing tip for baby food and it takes no effort- Leave it on the line for a week, it needs rain and sun and it bleaches the orange marks out.

Had to have a giggle yesterday as DD who is almost 3 was in the back of the car attempting to sing Supercalifragilistics(sp) she was so sweet.

Good weekend to you all and I will be in touch after Barcelona.

prettymum · 10/03/2007 13:08

kbaby - spounds justy like me having to jump out of the bath the moment i get in!

kayzed - thanks for the link - there are loads of us sleep deprived mums about at the mo!

Leo was a lot better last night. Went down about 7:30, woke at 10 (managed to settle him in cot with no feed) and 1am (took him into bed) and 4am, then he just dozed on and off for what was left of the night. His problem is he has got into the habit of sleeping beside me and now thinks he can only sleep beside me with a nipple in his mouth!

He has started doing a "NmmmmmNmmmm" noise for food! I was having my breakfast this mornind and he was shouting at me "NmmmmmmmNmmmmmmm", and he carried on shouting until I put him in his highchair and gave him some food. I don't usually give him breakfast - this must be him telling me he wants it!
