Excellent cake Katz! I look forward to selflessly eating ds' share to save him from the dreaded wheat

Happy birthday to little Miss Tea, sfxette and muma3's dd3!

sfxmum · 02/06/2007 11:16

happy birhtday little tea and mumma3 little lady

katz gorgeous cake! you are the master

dh make a thomas cake which for his first attempt looks pretty good, its chocolate so the frosting got 'muddy' but trains do get dirty

thanks for birhtday wishes have a lovely day all

tribpot · 04/06/2007 21:47

Boys on the move

tribpot · 05/06/2007 08:03

Happy birthday WednesdayBoy, little Miss Katz, and JennyWren's dd!

Little Miss Katz had an excellent birthday party at the weekend (if we ignore the bit where ds fell off a chair, smacked his head on the floor and had a massive bump like an egg on his forehead for the rest of the day). And the legendary katz cake-making prowess didn't let us down, it was yum!

sfxmum · 05/06/2007 09:23

happy birthday to all the junies on the 5th

pic of dd on my profile with some of her thomas spoils

katz · 05/06/2007 13:29

happy birthday fellow junies and a special happy birthday to MrsW DS who shares my DD2's day.

Trib - glad you liked the cake and hope your DS's head is better now! Dress is beautiful - thank you.

MrsWednesday · 05/06/2007 20:27

Lovely picture sfxmum, your DD is beautiful.

Thanks for the card Trib!

Happy birthday to all the Junie babies I've missed so far, and especially to my DS2's Junie twin, Katz's DD2.

We've been to Sundown Adventureland for the day today, both the DSs absolutely loved it (me and DH are knackered now though!). Would highly recommend it, especially if you go during school time as it was very quiet today so we got to go on everything without queueing (can't spell that!).

Off to drink a well deserved glass of red wine now.

tribpot · 06/06/2007 07:47

Lovely pic, sfx!

sfxmum · 06/06/2007 19:43

thanks ladies my little monkey is turning into quite a handfull

trib dh is envious of trolley bike thing he wanted one and keeps saying it would be ideal should when we have another baby - lovely pic

i am still without reliable internet conection which is a right pain can't use my laptop the stupid thing does not pick up neighbours wi fi so i am restricted to big computer in inconvinient room

tribpot · 06/06/2007 19:49

sfx, I'm assuming he wants to avoid the bit about being wheelchair bound although of course this is just a regular bike trailer for kids with a modification to the attaching arm, so no reason why he can't have one

If he thinks the photo is impressive, he might want to check out the video clip - it's 4 meg so don't download on a dial-up connection! It is very funny, though.

tribpot · 06/06/2007 20:19

Btw, it really is a great buggy - about 60 quid off ebay. They do a single child model as well although dh was thinking ahead (?) and went for the two child model.

sfxmum · 06/06/2007 20:32

yes it always looks great but we went for the child seat on bike first i think he will really want it next time just looks great.

have posted a couple more photos including dh's attempt at a thomas cake - i am proud he tried - the face is melting, bless himbut is tasted great full of chocolate

katz · 06/06/2007 20:33

SFX - meant to say what a little cutie.

Trib - love the photo

Well DD2 loved her day, although its turning into a week! So much Dora stuff for one little girl.

We have had traumas here though DD2's favourite orange jumper went missing yesterday at nursery!ahhhhh

tribpot · 07/06/2007 19:40

Ooh - a slightly random 'overly concerned first time mum' question. Ds can speak perfectly well but sometimes when he's really desperate to get something out he kind of stammers and so ends up saying 'mu-mu-mu-mu-mummy on big choo choo'. I assume this is normal?

katz · 07/06/2007 21:43

Trib - my DD1 used to do this, keep an eye but its perfectly normal

tribpot · 08/06/2007 18:25

Flipping heck. This is the rollercoaster week indeed.

This week I have found out that:

  • my friend who got pregnant by her lover whilst still with her husband is now pregnant again (I didn't actually ask if it's the lover's or the husband's but she's now living with the lover so I shall pick him, although history doesn't actually support this conclusion!). She already has a four year old and the other baby is 7 months old.
  • my friend who lives in Oman was evacuated from her house with her dh and 5 and 2 year old because of a cyclone which has basically ripped through Muscat. Their house is okay but there isn't much food in the shops ... AND
  • my friend who VERY unwisely was on a project (to replace a billing system for god's sake) in Beirut returned after the bank holiday. They were already at a status of 'amber' meaning they would be evacuated if the situation escalated much. It has, with bombs now going off daily. They have a security team assigned to them and are confined to the hotel and the office. Well, she only fell seriously ill and is now in hospital with a pancreatic infection and a blocked bile duct, it has been a very shaky couple of days. Her partner can't go out because of insurance problems (all non-essential travel is banned) and my friend may have to be airlifted out at any minute. If not, she may have to have her gall bladder removed right there in Beirut and kind of hope all-out war doesn't start whilst she's too ill to move.

I would mention that this has been the most stressful and nightmarish week of work I've ever had at the current place, but that almost seems like light entertainment in comparison!

sfxmum · 08/06/2007 19:42

trib sounds awfull particularly the Beirut situation, and such a shame by all accounts a lovely place with lovely people.
regarding the pregnancy she clearly has more energy that i do, i never understood how anyone keeps 2 on the go and with children too, i hope it works out for her.

and sorry about your work stressfull week

about language i think like katz said keep an eye but no worries, to the best of my knowledge kids go through odd phases developing languange.

there is an article in july Junior magazine about languange development with links to helpfull sites too

hope you all manage to have a good weekend

JonahB · 11/06/2007 21:22

Evening ladies, happy birthday to all your LO?s

Trib, I love the video clip! Sorry to hear you?re having a stressful week.

All is going okay in chez Jonah. DS1 isn?t coping too well with the hot weather ? anyone else find that the DS/DD?s seem to go into meltdown more frequently in this weather? Can?t say I blame him really. DS2 is doing all the things he should be ? feeding, crying, sh*tting constantly . He?s such a little cutie though. I forgot just how gorgeous that newborn smell is, and how small their little bottoms seem next to their big brother?s?And it's true, the preciousness reserved for your 1st is certainly not repeated for no. 2

We're off to chester zoo next Monday to celebrate the 2nd birthday. Really looking forward to it. He?s only ever seen farm animals before, so it should be an eye opener.

Hope all the birthday celebrations are going well!!!!

katz · 12/06/2007 11:18

trib - wow what a week, you shoudl get yourself a colunm in one of the gossip mags, it would make for an interesting read,

All is well here, DD2 decided to throw up in the middle of the shoe shop on thursday ( a reaction to drinking squash we think).

Do the northern Junies and any southern ones wishing to travel fancy a meet somewhere?

sfxmum · 13/06/2007 16:41

hello all have been without proper internet for ages at least now i have a lanline

so sorry for missed birthdays it is all going well

was amazed june07 post natal up and going bless not babies anymore just drive mum crazy toddlers

tribpot · 15/06/2007 19:00

Have been disgracefully slack so:

  • happy birthdays to Scraggy, giddy, 2Happy, macmudda, megi and Uki's little ones and - happy birthday for tomorrow to Jonah's ds1!

My friend in Beirut has had her op and is doing well, hopefully will be home this weekend for recuperation ... and then she's going back out there! Threatened to confiscate her passport but apparently she has two

Am in permanent childcare crisis mode now as my childminder finished up to have her baby (born at 0005 this morning in fact!) and I simply can't face the thought of finding alternative childcare for ds. In fairness I have been to see a lovely childminder, only minor difficulty being she can only do Thursday and Friday til end of August, not to mention she lives right near where we used to live! I hate it - just feels so wrong

Bubbaloo · 15/06/2007 23:04

Hi All,
just a quickie from me as I also haven't posted in a while,we're off on our hols in the morning and I should be packing, rather than sitting on here.
Happy birthday's to all the Junies-where has the last 2 years gone.
Trib-sorry to hear about the childcare.Hope you get it sorted out soon.
Hope everyone is well.x

Uki · 16/06/2007 11:45

Hi All

HAPPY BIRTHDAY and BELATED GREETINGS to all the Junies

big CONGRATULATIONS to Jonah and Welcome Soloman I'm not looking forward to all the nappies, but you sound like your coping.

We actually had two parties for our ds, one big one with famiy and friends in Sydney and one at home in the country. I made a 3D Thomas cake and a flat Percy cake, what a spoilt boy. He got so many toys and had a ball, even gave all the other kids big hugs when they left and bowled one girl over

Trib -hope things turn out ok with your friends, that is all very dramatic to say the least.

I'm almost 32 weeks but have not set anything up yet, on the wat though, so tired.

DS has tantrums here and it's cold, cold, cold so no weather excuses here. He is mostly good though just gets frustrated sometimes. thankkully his eating is improved and he now weighs 11kg, but that feels like 30 to me now.

sfxmum · 18/06/2007 16:00

hello all

trib hope you have found someone reliable or are near finding, it is always such a worry i imagine.

bubs - happy birthday for ds1 tomorrow, how you getting on?

dd is getting to be a full on troublemaker, she is forever climbing and running around, it is quite funny when she approaches something she knows she should not do and says 'not a good idea to do that' in my tone of voice cheeky monkey

she also talks a lot during the night in 2 languages it is very funny random words/ sentences, shame i am such a light sleeper, she really needs to move to her room soon

JonahB · 19/06/2007 11:48

Morning all!

I'm looking for some advice from all you experienced ladies out there, who I'm sure have been less slack than me and have started/completed the potty training process. I, on the other hand, have been procrastinating madly and have got as far as buying a potty and that's it! Did any of you have LO's who refused to use either the potty or those toilet insert seats? DS seems adamant that both are evil and tries to sit on the toilet without the insert, crying if we try to persuade him to use either of the other 2 options (he's not actually using the toilet, just trying to sit on it). Can you potty train a child without a potty? Any experience of this?
