Blimey there's some names on that list that I haven't seen for ages! Does anyone hear from ScraggyAggy, PinkArjuna, EastYorksmum, Teabelly, Lippy etc?

Hope the non-sleeping Junies are settling in their big boy/girl beds. DS2 has been trying to climb out of his cot for ages but his legs aren't long enough. He has however learnt how to take off his pyjamas and nappy so is keeping us busy at bedtime too . He just loves being naked - he skips with joy as soon as the nappy comes off (although was a bit perturbed when he banged his willy on the edge of the kitchen table this evening).

Any more news on the bag thief Trib?

Well I've finished my exams this week so I'm feeling quite jolly - no more guilt about mumsnetting when I'm supposed to be revising (just guilt about ignoring DH...)

Lummox, you could take your DSs to Clumber Park here

and try and find somewhere to stay near there perhaps. Can't think of any specific hotels to recommend in the area but you might be able to find a Travelodge or similar. Or there are lots of nice places to stay in the Peak District - plenty of bracing walks/hikes round there too.

Right, well I'm off to drink wine and watch telly. Night all.

katzg · 18/05/2007 09:46

Well DD2 now has the pox which will be fun i'd imagine!

Lummox - i have been trying to think of somewhere family friendly in sheffield to stay but since we live here its quite difficult! as we don't go and stay anywhere locally. It would be lovely to meet up with you if you are passing through, and we live right on a park which is great for leg stretching. In the city centre is a travellodge which is cheap and cheerful and like i said come and leg stretch at ours. perhaps we could do a northern meet up

I'm here! What a spooky coincidence that I decided to see if this thread was still going and someone mentioned my name. Spooky and lovely. I haven't logged onto MN for months, I don't know how I ever had the time! I don't see or speak to any of the other 'old timers', (I hope they wont mind me calling them that ) pretty much the ones you mentioned Mrs W.
Two years old, I can't believe it!

tribpot · 23/05/2007 10:55

My god, there's a blast from the past! Lovely to see you Lippy, how is your little Junie (and her big sister?) getting on?

Katz, hope dd2 isn't suffering too much.

MrsW - yay for finishing the exam, I'm on leave this Friday morning if you fancy a trip to the park?

No news on the bag thief, hopefully he has been put in the stocks in City Square and pelted with rotten vegetables

lummox · 23/05/2007 19:41

Thanks for the help northern folk. We have settled on a place called Primrose Farm which seems to be pretty near the motorway at Nottingham.

Katz - would love to be able to do a meet up, but I think that we are going to try to blitz through to Sunderland in the morning. Maybe next time?

Hope everyone else is well (and welcome back to Lippy).

All good here - ds2 is down to one night feed between 7 pm and 7 am, which is a miracle, and ds1 is being very cute indeed.

But, wait for it, hang on to your hats, because the terrible twos start here this Saturday. Will let you know if anything happens.

Oh, and on the cake front I'm afraid we can't even compete. I'm going to make a banana loaf and then cut out pictures of the Teletubbies and drape them round it. Classy stuff.

tribpot · 24/05/2007 09:43

lummox, as my sister-in-law said to me recently:

"have the terrible twos started yet? If the answer is 'I'm not sure' then they haven't".

They have started chez trib with a vengeance! And ds isn't even 2 til the end of June.

MrsWednesday · 24/05/2007 11:02

Hey, nice to see you Lippy! How spooky that you decided to pop in.

Trib, all change here as I'm now working on Fridays and having Wednesdays off so if you are ever at home on a Wednesday and fancy meeting up, let me know.

2Happy · 24/05/2007 14:33

As far as I can tell, ds1 started with the terrible twos at about 11months

JonahB · 24/05/2007 18:48

I don't think the terrible twos have started at my house - I'm expecting them to commence the day I have LO2

Due date tomorrow. Please think lots of positive birth thoughts for me!!!!

Bubbaloo · 24/05/2007 19:04

Oooh...how exciting,Jonah.Hope you've been taking the Raspberry Leaf Tea.Sendng you lots of vibes for a speedy labour and delivery.

The terrible two's haven't started here yet,but ds2 is making up for it.We're off on our hols in a couple of weeks so they'll probably start then!

tribpot · 24/05/2007 20:56

2Happy, I don't think that's the terrible twos. I remember that 'ah, this is a tantrum' state. It's not

Jonah - best of luck! Looking forward to a birth announcement. And Bubb, I'm afraid I can only refer to the whole 'ds1 sleeping through the night from 4 weeks' story for the reason why I sympathise and at the same time.

Bubbaloo · 24/05/2007 21:47

Trib-We had him registered last week and were very tempted to call him "Damian".Saying that,he slept for just over 5 hours last night,so maybe things are changing after all-just my luck it will be a one off though.

Uki · 25/05/2007 05:28

Hi All

Old timers and stayers alike

I really can't believe I have an almost 2 year old, but at the same time he seems so grown up.

Trib- I love the comment your SIL made, I'm not sure either, but has had tantruns since before he was one, not often though much easier having toddler than newborn.

Jonah -speaking of newborns I wish you well for the birth, very exciting, maybe you are having baby now hope it goes well.

Maybe I am next after Jonah, i'm now 29 weeks, all going too fast and I am enjoying my sleep as much as possible. It's winter nearly, so bed is rather good.

Cakes - I'm making a Thomas cake of course, I would like to do an amazing job, but will probably have to rush it as soo busy with work before, as long as it resembles a train

I often wonder about some of the others too, Pink, etc. Also some never even posted back to say what they had did they?

sfxmum · 25/05/2007 10:34

hello everyone lovely to see so many around

dd is nearly too as the likes to tell everyoneshe will have a Thomas cake too the girl is a train spotter and DrWho fan so i am clearly doing something rightshe is well aware of my sci fi stuff obsessions bless her

and btw she permanently wears a Thomas sun hat which was somnemly washed last weekend with dd walking it slowly to the washing machine

we have had the occasional outburst but mostly it is fairly easy to deal with and pretty funny too 'oh mummy please please i need it i need it'
she gets frustrated and waves her fists about saying NO and has thrown herself on the floor but only on soft surfaces, if outdoors she just shouts and runs, so not daft

katz · 25/05/2007 11:05

Hi all, so nice to see you all.

My litte nearly 2 year old has been tantrumming for a while now and boy doe she has a temper.

DD2 is very into Dora and also Nemo, well anything orange in fact! she has a fab orange jumper my mum knitted her which she loves, and by orange i mean Nemo orange not peachy!

Trib - i have emailed you an invite to dd2's birthday - if any other northern mums fancy it then let me know your very welcome, its on the 2nd of June 3-5pm. We've hired somewhere for it.

Jonah - not long now.

well the chicken pox turned into a mini drama ,i phoned NHS directfor some advice on what i could use on dd2's poor little bottom as she was screaming in pain ever time she goes to the loo in her nappy, due to the large number of chicken pox blisters on her bum and bits. nurse refers to doctor who at the first mention of rare skin condition wants to see her, so we take our highly contagious child to the gp coop this morning, gp not sure what to do thinks spots on bum are infected and phones on call dermatologist who says hmmm she should she a the on call paed. So referred to the childrens, wait for nearly 3 hours to see the on call paed (again highly contagious child in a and e waiting room), who takes a look and says hmm just looks like lots of chicken pox blisters not infected try metanium cream! why did the nhs direct not just say this instead of us wasting 6 hours at the various doctors this morning?

katz · 25/05/2007 11:05

nb - i cut and pasted my chicken pox rant so for this morning read sunday morning!

sfxmum · 25/05/2007 11:16

katz - i think with nhsdirect they really just want to cover theuir backsides in fact that is very much the trend everywhere
but poor poppet

we are having dd's party on the 2nd but i am making it a family only thing, we have been to a fair few paries at hired venues and i will delay as much as possible all of that

oh and the best of luck to those of you expecting, can't wait to join you, had a friend over with her 3month old and i am broody broody broody

tribpot · 31/05/2007 07:48

katz - many thanks for the invite to dd2's party, ds might wear his Mile for Maude t-shirt again to get with what I imagine is the inevitable pink theme of the day Hope she is feeling better now, what a pain about NHSDirect.

katz · 31/05/2007 08:39

Trib - i have hired the soft shapes bit of nursery so they will be running around manically! pink is good but DD2's favorite colour at the mo is orange, have bought her a very cute skirt/t-shirt combo from m and s. Have emailed you but was wondering what you DS can/can't eat.

JonahB · 01/06/2007 09:07

Done it

I now have a DS2!!!!

I'll post on the birth announcements thread today (in between looking after an excitable toddler and a small baby)....

sfxmum · 01/06/2007 09:12
