oh that is awfull!
and how did the move go? is master trib on his own room now?

we are starting to plan for the second birthday, dh wants to bake a character cakei want to be supportive but i know what he is like, think will do a back up onewe are planning a bike as big present

hope everyone is ok

tribpot · 08/05/2007 12:20

Move is ... well, still a work in progress really. Have finally cleared everything from the old house but we are living in chaos and I despair of ever managing to get things sorted out as either I'm at work or ds is there and so I can't get anything done.

On the plus side, having no washing machine means I can legitimately dump it all at the launderette, where they fold everything so carefully nothing needs ironing - am a bit gutted the washing machine arrives tomorrow Actually I do wish I had prioritised the dishwasher as I am mightily sick of washing up!

ds is in his own room, which is great! Quite often he ends up in bed with one or both of us from about 4 o'clock on but it's still progress. His bumper bar for the bed hasn't arrived so he is barricaded in with the floor cushions wedged against the bed

As it's May, should I resurrect our birthday spreadsheet? Needs the title changing!

Character cake - mmmm. Photos are needed however it turns out

katzg · 08/05/2007 13:09

oh trib thats awful!

Birthday, feeling all smug have bought DD2's present, she's having a handmade Dora quilt and pillowcase and also a handmade Nemo quilt and pillowcase for her new big girls bed (dd1's old one!). She is still totally mad about all things orange and is very pleased with her cardi that granma knitted that is nemo orange.

Birthday cak wise, this year i will be customing a dora pirate adventure cake, aka an island with dora figures on

Trib, sorry to hear about your mate! Best of luck with the rest of the house move.

Katz, you?re about to put the rest of us to shame again with another amazing creation. Please put a photo of the finished cake on again ? the last one (a fairy?) was so impressive.

Update on moving DS from cot to big boys bed: (I?m going to whisper this now, as I don?t want to tempt fate). It?s gone really really well! The first sleep was sat lunchtime. We got him in the bed, he was a bit fretful so DH lay with him until he calmed down. He slept for 45 mins then did the whole stairgate rattling ?mummy!!! daddy!!!? thing. After about 10 mins he just settled and chatted to himself. Since that first sleep, he has gone into his bed for all his sleeps like an absolute dream and slept through until his usual wake-up time. What really seemed to help was giving him one of his teddies to take to bed. We never did this in his cot, but it seemed to comfort him having teddy there to kiss and cuddle (ie. suck on his nose).

DH and I are telling ourselves regularly that LO2 (2 1/2 weeks to go) will be a little b*gger, refuse to sleep and generally make our lives hell

Bubbaloo · 08/05/2007 22:37

Trib-So sorry to hear about your frind and her bag.

Jonah-Excellent news on the big boys bed.
Oscar has always been fantastic for sleeping and has slept through the night from 2 weeks old. When I was pg this time I was convinced I wouldn't have 2 the same and this one would be the devil child. As lovely as he is,I was right...he's a little so and so.We've so far had 2 nights where he's refused to sleep at all and he screams continuosly unless he is picked up and when he is alseep,he wakes up on the dot every 3 hours for a feed,by waking up the whole of Essex.
Mind you,I took him to our weekly toddler group today for the first time and he was pretty well behaved-can't believe he's already 3 weeks old.
Hope you're taking your Raspberry leaf tea with only a couple of weeks to go.

tribpot · 08/05/2007 22:50

Bubb, you always were unduly lucky with ds1's sleep patterns, so it's only fair really that you have a taste of reality now I had thought that dropping ds1 down the stairs had had a positive effect on his sleeping (although not without its downsides like the fractured skull and Social Services involvement).

Jonah, have contemplated giving ds his toy leopard to take to bed with him - this is also the recipient of 'kisses' (nose biting).

Ooh, supplementary question to all. ds is quite clear he doesn't want to be in nappies any more and making hints about when he's doing 'the business' (wee wees have to be done in the kitchen, dunno why). I've bought some pull-ups (a bit gutted Moltex don't do any) but don't really know what to do. Do I stick one on him and say "tell me when you want to go to the loo" and see what happens?

sfxmum · 09/05/2007 08:49

hello all

go jonah

dd seems ready to stop naps we never really had timetables and we all have dinner together, otherwise dh would not see her, so she has been going to bed after 9 waking up at 9am or so and not really sleeping during the day much, not that she ever did.
so will that planned 2nd child be a sleeping beauty?

trib - i have heard that pull ups delay potty training, that apparently is best to put them in underpants and go with it.
dd goes on the 'big girl seat' (not potty} a couple of times of day, with varying degrees of success, meaning often she sits there for a while then comes off and pees on the floor, but to poo she crouches by the window for some bizarre reason but with nappy on i hasten to add

hope you are all well

nappyaddict · 10/05/2007 02:53

hijack

sfxmum · 10/05/2007 10:05

hi n.addict no i am not my sister is so i will pass it on to her

hello everyone

tribpot · 11/05/2007 12:12

Blimey! Leeds Police have nicked someone for stealing my friend's bag! Does this mean I could confidently expect Nottingham Police to nick someone for torching my house in 2003?! (I rather have the impression they didn't even investigate that).

katzg · 12/05/2007 20:26

wow - go leeds police

Northern Junies - I need you!

We will be driving up to Newcastle mid June and are looking for a hotel/B&B about half way - I think Nottingham/Sheffieldish.

Something near a park or similar so that ds1 can have a run around (he doesn't do cooped up very well).

Also preferably somewhere which advertises as family friendly so that we don't have to worry too much about ds2's squawks.

Any thoughts?

2Happy · 13/05/2007 15:45

Wow, Trib, that's good! I like W Yorks police after they caught the people who broke into several cars in Huddersfield, mine beign one, and returned me my cds and spare wheel. Though actually I think they got the wheels mixed up and I got someone elses, but never mind, they tried! Hope the house move gone well.

Lummox - can't help there but are you staying in Newcastle or going any further north? I can suggest plenty for Northumberland

sfxmum · 13/05/2007 16:11

the police caught a bag thief surely a miracle! law and order labour hey!

hope you all ok

i have been rather miserable and miserably spending time at my dentists practice lining his pockets out with a wisdom tooth and a root canal thingy and assorted drillings etc.

painkillers and wine have made it bearable

JonahB · 13/05/2007 19:20

Gosh Trib, that?s astounding! I didn?t think the police had the time, inclination or resource to bother with ?mundane? crimes like that. I?m very impressed!

Well, I lied about DS and the bed sleeping. We had night of hell last night. AND I missed the Eurovision because of it . Wish me luck tonight!!

Lummox, can't help you, i'm afraid. Don't know those parts at all. I do know that there's a Centre Parcs in Sherwood Forest (Nottinghamshire), however, I've no idea at all if that's en-route or not. Do know that they are quite kiddie-friendly though.....

tribpot · 15/05/2007 16:26

Jonah - hope things are going okay? Ds has been quite good about going into his big boy bed ...

Lummox - will ask my mum, see if she can think of anything? Where will you be travelling from?

Well, today is 'trib's bad news about work' day. Found out this morning I didn't get an interview for a promotion in another organisation, and then this afternoon my boss had to tell me that for the 600th time the potential promotion within our team has had to be put on hold.

tribpot · 16/05/2007 20:01

Wow - we're into second birthday territory already!

2Happy · 16/05/2007 20:04

Oh I'm not on the list

Sorry about the work thing, Trib

tribpot · 16/05/2007 20:06

Erk 2Happy, were you not around this time last year? I'm sure you were. My apologies, if you give me the stats I will add ds1 immediately!

2Happy · 16/05/2007 20:09

I was, though I wasn't around when the list was originally started since I only found MN when ds1 was 5m old.

Anyway, Alexander James was born on 11/06/05

Thanks

tribpot · 16/05/2007 20:21

If you click on the link now, all is well with the world!

2Happy · 17/05/2007 08:09

Still doesn't seem to be working, sob!

tribpot · 17/05/2007 08:22

You might need to hit 'refresh' - it's probably showing you the one it cached yesterday. Trust me, you are there

katzg · 17/05/2007 12:17

2 wow! hasn't the time flown by

OP posts:
2Happy · 17/05/2007 14:38

Aha!! thank you!!

There was me thinking for a minute that he wouldn't make the list because he can't actually possibly be nearly 2! Would like to have a barbecue on the day - think it'll rain?
