LOVE the title Katz, yay! Thank goodness we have you to do our new threads. If it was me I think we'd have "thread 14. The one after 13". Repeat as necessary

Now, I definitely need help from more experienced Junies - we are taking ds by train to London the weekend after next (and sfx, will email you re: potentially meeting up). A 2.5 hour train journey, how does one survive without throwing oneself on to the rails? Bear in mind ds will sit still for approx 3 mins at most, ever. Journey time is naturally planned to coincide with naptime, however (at least on the way down there). Don't get me started on the additional complications of dh being confined to a mechanised buggy/wheelchair jobby.

House: I have to give notice on this place on 6 March. Despite this, the estate agents have been v-e-r-y leisurely coaxing our vendors towards getting an offer sorted out on the place they want to buy, so tomorrow I will be putting in more concrete terms: either you agree to move out by - say, 30 April - or we pull out of the sale. Your choice. I don't particularly care either way, and if it falls through I might well take it as a 'sign' that it's worth continuing to rent for another year, whilst I see if my old boss starts up a massive project in the East Midlands, as currently looks likely for 2008. That would be worth hanging on for, as it'd give us a reason to move closer to family again.

I haven't quite worked out where a potential second maternity leave fits into this picture, but hey ho! Does anyone really know how to make a maternity leave fit into other life plans? It just happens.

JonahB · 21/02/2007 19:06

Katz, you can tell i'm pregnant. You're title has just created tears in my eyes . Really ought to get a grip on my hormones!!!!

Bubb, how you doing there? Thanks for your contribution to my other thread BTW. This double buggy issue has been giving me nightmares.

Bubbaloo · 21/02/2007 20:05

Jonah-I've also had a nightmare with the double buggy as it's near impossible to find one that fits in my car.Have you decided on which one to get yet?
Not too bad here.Ds had his operation on Thursday so is very sore and bruised, but otherwise ok.Poor little mite has stitches down below and also in his groin. He also had to have an epidural and a number of canula's in his arms and legs.I've been really rough with this cough/cold/flu bug that's doing the rounds so I never even went to the hospital with him-dh went with my parents instead. He also had an appointment at another hospital last friday and now has to wear a night time cast on one of his legs, which we haven't shown him yet and not looking forward to that as he's going to hate it.
All seems ok with the baby, although I have been leaking a small amount of fluid and have had yet another small bleed.I'm now having the baby at a different hospital as I'm classed as "higher" risk, due to this,my PCOS,Pernicious Anaemia, higher BMI and having a big baby last time,so not having the best time at the mo,but hey...it could be worse.

Hope everyone else is well.x

tribpot · 22/02/2007 07:30

Well ladies we are on the move today - off to Edinburgh, the sunny city (I say that in the hopes that it might come true!). Sfx - will email you whilst I'm away, not sure Kew is doable as dh is wheelchair bound again and not sure about the Tube with him and ds in a buggy.

JonahB · 22/02/2007 16:18

Bubb, I haven?t. I?m probably going to look at that Sky Marco one, just cos it?s so cheap and if not, I?m sad to say I?m probably going to spend a mini-fortune on an ebayed Jane Powertwin. I?m certainly not getting one first hand. I?ll keep you posted. You?re poor little DS . You take care of yourself. If ?higher risk? means you are getting more attentive care, then great!

Trib, have fun in Edinburgh!!!!

Right, better go and do some work. Sigh??.

sfxmum · 22/02/2007 16:37

hello ladies
bubbaloo -sorry you are having some trouble, hope ds recovers quickly

trib - yes do get in touch it would be nice to work something out and kew is on silverlink too which i much prefer using, hate the tube

i am hoping to avoid the double buggy thing i guess by the time we manage to get another baby dd will be big enough not to need one most people i know seem to favour the phil&ted ones but they always look odd to me

we spent a fair amount of time today at a farm much to dd's delight gorgeous new lambs and all. i think the highlight was the pig race it was raining the whole time but we had a great time

Bubbaloo · 22/02/2007 17:56

Lol at the pig race-sounds like lots of fun.
Must admit I've only heard good things aboutthe Phil and Teds AND it folds up really small so would have fitted in my Fiesta, but seems like the baby is in the shopping basket IYKWIM.

Jonah-We looked at the Powertwin in Mothercare, but there's no way it would go in my car.Did like the fact that you can use the baby carrier with it-always a bonus when you haven't got to wake up a sleeping baby.

Had a friend over today with her 18 month old dd and 4 week old.You forget just how tiny they once were-she looked like a little doll and I found it quite scary holding her.Looks like I better get used to it though.

Hi all.
Gosh, Bubb, Trib and Katz, hope you are all ok and bearing up.
Just popping on to say hi. I had a day off yesterday. I went shopping in Birmingham and we missed the train home and so were there an hour longer than expected
Went to Telford town Park today to meet a lovely fellow MN to try to arrange our Mile for Maude.
Take care all xxx

Hello all and special to muma3! There's another poster called mumto3 and it's all very confusing

Hope all are well - had a lovely weekend in Edinburgh (staying with childfree friends a bit stressful, mind you), now gearing up for London!

Katz - good luck at the hospital.

I think the Phil and Ted buggies look well odd, although I can see they are very practical.

Bubb - hope you're all doing okay, high risk pregnancy doesn't sound like much fun.

Bubbaloo · 28/02/2007 14:10

Afternoon All,

Trib-Glad your Edinburgh trip was a success. How lovely to get away.

Katz-Glad you've got the appointment through.Lets hope they sort things out for your dd2.

All is well here.I'm virtually over this bug and only have a very slight cough now which is good.Ds has been in his "big bed" since Saturday which isn't too bad.We tried it a few months ago and he was forever getting out and running around upstairs, but now he has a gate on his bedroom door which has definately helped. It's still early days though and it's taking about an hour for him to finally go to sleep which is a pain, but it could be alot worse,I know.
He is so funny though-you tell him to go to bed,so he jumps in and puts his hands over his eyes, bless him. It's such a lovely age.

Hope everyone else is well.x

Skyler · 28/02/2007 18:30

Trib - Glad your trip was a success!
Bubb- Glad you are ok too. You are right, this is a really lovely age, just talking and being VERY cute. I love it.
I am just trying to sort out dd1's birthday. She wants a Nemo theme but the stuff costs a blardy fortune so she is getting Orange Ikea napkins and paper loot bags and possibly invites downloaded from ELC depending on how they print. I priced it up on a website to get the plates, cups, napkins and bags and a tablecloth and it was £75 or something utterly ridiculous and that is without filling party bags. I think we will be reducing the number invited . We are only spending £50 on her present ffs. I am not spending twice the amount on her party. She is going to be 4!!!!! Anyway rant over.
Hope everyone else is well

sfxmum · 28/02/2007 19:31

hi everyone and hi mumma how are things?

little rant about children parties i hate party bags and all that themed malarly why oh why most kids are happy with cake and a place to play safely - you can tell my dd will not like me much when she goes to school

i am avoiding all this party for outsiders business until she goes to school, we have been to a few recently and honestly the prices of venues alone

not so little rant then sorry thibk my age is showing

Bubbaloo · 28/02/2007 20:47

Skyler-If the invites don't print off too well, have a look on Ebay. There's loads of Nemo invitations on there. We had a RazzleDazzle cake and invitations for Oscar's 1st birthday and I got the invites really cheap from someone on Ebay.

Sfx-Also agree about the ridiculous cost of venues. We had a little party last year at home(mainly for the adults and only because it was his 1st bday),but we've been to quite a few since, many at soft play centres which seem to cost a fortune. We go to a coupl eof soft play centres twice a week but I don't think he'll be having a party at one til he's about 5...at least.

Skyler · 28/02/2007 21:31

Ladies, I have fought this party long and hard. DH spent two days trying to convince dd1 that a trip to the safari park would be a good b'day treat but to no avail. She has been to lots of parties this year and knows what she wants. We are lucky we have been able to get a venue for £20 including a bouncy castle and little soft play area and a bar for the adults. This means I was planning to invite lots of children as we had saved some money there.
I have decided to buy Nemo plates, cups, and some underwater party bag stuff, plain coloured balloons and Nemo invites, plain napkins from Ikea and plain white paper bags from ebay and I have still managed to spend about £50. I still have the food and drink and venue to pay for. We won't be having games and prizes though. They can just run riot . We have officially spent more on the party than her presents. Oh well I think I will have to stop fighting it and enjoy it. This is like the blooming Christmas cards all over again .

Skyler · 28/02/2007 21:35

Sorry, Bubb meant to say ebay was a top tip for the invites.
I got 10% off the other stuff here
And so just ordered the lot so I only have to pay one lot of postage. I will have to get a table covering too won't I? Hopefully Asda or Tesco will have a plain white paper one......

sfxmum · 28/02/2007 21:56

yeah i know it is a lost battle

the soft play areas we go to are min £3.50 on normal days parties are about £8-15 per child with varying degrees of suitable food.

enjoy the party Skyler

tribpot · 01/03/2007 19:24

London ladies, any thoughts on how accessible the tube is for a wheelchair? We'd be going Hammersmith & City to Hammersmith (from Kings Cross) and thence on the District to Kew Gardens. I can't think how low the step on to the train is.

sfxmum · 01/03/2007 19:31

hammersmith is wheelchair accessible, lifts, etc. but if you come from city you need to cross the road to get to the picadilly/district bit
this might help

tribpot · 01/03/2007 20:00

Thanks sfx - I have looked and look at the TFL website and can't find any useful information. It will let me plan a journey which doesn't involve steps/escalator (hence why we're not coming on Silverlink) but it is bloody useless for info on how wheelchair accessible tube trains are.

Ah, a bit of Googling found this on the website (no way of finding it using their own search tool) and it seems to show H&C line is fully wheelchair accessible (from street level to platform) but doesn't say about getting on to the train ...
