oh the potty training!
dd deslikes the potty and only sits on it dressed, but she does sit on the toilet with seat adaptor twice a day and has done something a few times while we read to her.
but more often that not she tells us 'finished now' jumps off and promptly pees on the floor

the plan is to put her in cheap knickers when the weather is warm and let her tell us when she needs to go, which she sort of does now but often just too late

katzg · 20/04/2007 12:05

i'm going for the washable pull ups because of DD's skin condition, it sometimes causes her to have diahorrea and i think the washable pull ups will cope better than reg knickers! with DD1 we just did the knickers thind and she got it very quickly! she hated the feeling of weeing on her own foot!

had a look at those you mentioned and it looks good especially for outing later on.
not sure dd will have the same ideas regarding being wet, so far she treat the wee on the floor as her very own puddle to splish splash on, think she is proud of it

katzg · 20/04/2007 12:17

i have no idea if they're any good but i know someone who used them and said they did what they say, hold one wee!!

i've bought mine through the mumsnetter who has a nappyshop, bumfluff!

OP posts:
tribpot · 20/04/2007 13:24

Haven't even considered starting it here. Think ds would follow sfxette's lead. Plus am not convinced that having to take a toddler to the loo is much less hassle than just doing nappies anyway? Thought I would wait til ds indicates a preference.

Bubbaloo · 20/04/2007 21:30

Hi All,

Trib-Fingers crossed on the move front.Hope it all goes according to plan.

No potty training here or even thinking about it-have been too busy.....having a baby.

I won't bore you all with the details but lets just say it was VERY quick, just about made it to the hospital in time and gave birth with my jumper still on.
Ethan Samuel was a tiny 7lbs 13oz(compared to Oscar!)and was 9 days early. He's a litle jaundaced which is ok and may have a small problem with his nose(having too much cartledge),but he's lovely, although I might be biased.

Hope everyone else is well.xxx

sfxmum · 20/04/2007 21:40

CONGRATULATIONS to you and your family

tribpot · 20/04/2007 21:42

Oh Bubb! Hurrah for Ethans's arrival and hurrah for you! Go Bubb! xxx

tribpot · 20/04/2007 21:46

sfx, do you feel impressed by our fellow 'second-time-around' mummies? They seem practically to be giving birth in the fields and returning to work - are we being a bit rubbish?! xx

katzg · 20/04/2007 21:48

yeah bubb - congrats

OP posts:
sfxmum · 21/04/2007 08:53

trib - it gives me hope that the next one, will pop out without so much as a 'ouch' from me
am doing serious reading on optimal foetal position because i can't deal with another posterior baby.
but i guess i should get on with conception first

and the brooding goes up a few notches

many congratulations again bubb and we can do details you know

lummox · 21/04/2007 19:42

Bubb - great stuff. Many congratulations. Hope that you are getting coddled a bit and that ds1 adapting well. I still can't mention my children without feeling all emotional about it.

Trib - hope the house stuff is going OK. We had another French doctor moment when I took ds2 for his jabs. Dr started writing a prescription for Vitamin D drops (apparently everyone has them here). I said I didn't really want them, and he looked at me as if I was barking. Then he said that he supposed that since my dh is tall, ds2 wouldn't be too short as a result of not getting it. Hmmm.

We've had one wee in a potty here. ds1 seems quite keen (although he insists on having a book - quite cute at first but now a bit annoying as he grabs a bit of newspaper and tantrums when he can't fold it properly - ).

sfx - if you are feeling too broody just remember the sleep thing. only with a toddler as well .

katz - hope dd2 is OK. think I may have missed some bits, so not sure whether you found out what the problem was exactly?

hi to everyone else. Hope the Jonah and Uki are keeping well.

2Happy · 21/04/2007 20:30

congratulations Bubb

No potty training here, though tempted as two boys in nappies tiring!

Has anyone had problems moving Junies/siblings into big beds, and what have you done about it? ds1 just gets out and runs totally mental round the room

MrsWednesday · 21/04/2007 20:34

Congratulations Bubb!!! Sounds like a speedy one

Uki, great news that you have another boy on the way - it's fab having two DSs.

Hope all the house stuff goes through next week Trib, text me if you need a hand with anything won't you?

No potty training happening in this house yet. With DS1 I left it as late as possible and by the time DS2 was born he was begging me not to make him wear nappies any more...he was potty-trained within a week. So I'm intending to wait until at least Christmas until I start thinking about it with DS2.

katzg · 22/04/2007 08:42

lum - dd2 has a rare skin condition called mastocytosis, which basically means she has too many mast cells and too much histamine, so her tummy and back are covered in blotches. most of the time shes fine but she had masto flare up where the histamine levels get too high which results in itching (so no sleeping) and diahorrea. We found out just after christmas that one of her antagonists is chocolate so no more for her. We see various consultants at the childrens hospital and are just waiting to see how it develops. It can but very rarely in children turn nasty.

hope everyone else is doing well, its great to be chattign to Junies again!

As for the potty training its only because we now have the downstairs loo and DD2 wants to use a potty when she sees one, so we are going to go with the flow and let ehr continue to lead us on this!

JonahB · 22/04/2007 21:31

Bubb, Congratulations!!!!!!!!! Welcome to the world baby Ethan!!!!! That?s a lovely name.

Does that mean it?s my turn next

No potty training here either. My mum has told me she trained my DB1, only to have to start again when DB2 came along. There?s the same age gap between my DB?s as there will be between my 2 LO?s. That?s my excuse for waiting anyway [grin

tribpot · 23/04/2007 19:22

We exchanged on the house today!

Katz - I didn't realise dd2 had been diagnosed. Poor little poppet, there can be no excuse for a condition that prevents chocolate eating.

sfxmum · 23/04/2007 20:25

congartulations trib now the fun of moving starts

katz - it is cruel not being able to eat chocolateare they still ruling out antagonists?

we are ok here dh's birthday is in a couple of weeks and dd has decided he would like some crayons

katzg · 23/04/2007 21:21

finding antagonists is a trial and error thing, we only worked out choc because over christmas she had lots. she has another but we haven't managed to work out what although too much wheat seems to not be good for her. she is on low level antihistamines all the time which without she has diahorrea and doesn't sleep very well.

trib - yeah on the house

Bubbaloo · 24/04/2007 10:29

Thanks for the congrats-for sfx and anyone else wanting the details,I've posted a birth announcement.

Trib-Fantastic news on the exchange.Have you got a completion date yet?

Katz-yaay on the potty training front-how rotten about the chocolate though.

Jonah-How long have you got left now?
Definately recommend the Raspberry leaf tablets-I'm convinced that's why my labour was so quick this time.

Can't believe ds2 is already a week old today....and dh is back at work in another week.

Hope everyone is well.x

JonahB · 25/04/2007 21:45

Trib, congrats on your house!!!!

Bubb, I'm 36 weeks on Friday. Nearly there........Finish work next Friday, so then I can finally contemplate packing a hospital bag, washing baby clothes etc etc. G-d help the bump if he/she decided to put in an early appearence . Not started taking the RL tablets yet, but now have made a mental note to self to start straight away

Katz, is this likely to affect your DD2 post-childhood, or is this something she will grow out of? Poor mite, not being able to eat chocolate

katzg · 26/04/2007 09:48

Jonah - the earlier they get it the more likely they are to grow out of it, but they don't know. 4 weeks to go, its the final countdown!!!

hello everyone else!

Don't forget northern mummies 12th may Yorkshire Sculpture Park mile for maude - come one come all and please email for a parking place!

Yay!!!!! congrats, Trib

tribpot · 26/04/2007 21:02

That's nothing, have just applied for new job as well Don't think I have enough experience but despite extreme effort of doing form in same week as house move, I think it's worth having a go.
