Thought I'd start a new thread. Unimaginative title but E has spent the whole day grizzling/feeding/sleeping on me so I'm running on limited capacity!

Ds2 had really sluggish bowels and toxic smelling wind, we took him to the cranial osteopath and he went from a bowel movement once a week to going daily, he was really gripey before we went.

plimsolls · 14/10/2016 17:51

Oooh, that reminds me what.... I keep thinking about CO and then not going any further with it because I try something else. I'm going to look in to it, think there's a lady round here who does home visits.

I used to see an osteopath about my back and one session he did something very gentle (just felt like cupping. His hands at the nape of my neck and pressing gently) but it made such a difference. As I wasn't sure what exactly he had done I asked him at the next session and he said it was CO stuff.

E was a grizzling gripey nightmare from 5am to 3pm today when she did a massive poo. She fed properly straight after and has been asleep ever since.

Alfie Dd is 10 weeks too Smile

Woohoo...finally got two messy poos at 7pm!! Please please please make this mean sleep for me!

I know you've all said really sensible things about suggesting I stay on the medicine but I've taken her off everything. I really didn't feel right about her suddenly crying out when she did fall asleep. I've never heard her do that before. The doctor at hospital told me there would be no side effects but when I looked it up, constipation and abdominal pains is a side effect. You know when you just know something not quite right?! Mothers instinct I guess.

peardrop2 · 14/10/2016 22:32

Dd has just done poo no 5 this evening Shock

Slothlikesundays · 15/10/2016 06:39

Pear Shock what a clean up job! And do whatever you feel is right.
I've been thinking about the cranial osteopath - I've only heard positive things. Has anyone been yet? How much was it?

Whattodowithaminute · 15/10/2016 07:33

I took ds3 locally to cranial osteopath, no specifics concerns but having had such dramatic results with ds2 I thought it was worth a try. 3 sessions £55 a session. I know prices vary widely and I think there are a couple of places you can go for free in London. He said DS was a little tight through his left side and diaphragm which could have affected his colon and bowel movements, he doesn't seem as distressed when trying to go now... who knows whether it really had an effect?!

pear do as you feel is best, wrt side effects when they trial a drug any symptoms that are reported by the trial group go down as potential side effects; hence symptoms that you are trying to treat with the drug will often be listed...

BellaGoth · 15/10/2016 08:25

Pear absolutely go with you gut. Nobody knows your baby like you do. Hope she's more settled once the medication is out of her system.

DD managed almost a 5 hour stretch last night which was nice! Had to get up with DS at 5.30 though. Tried to go back to bed for a bit once DH got up at 7, but 10 minutes later DS told DH he needed the toilet so DH just opened rheumatoid stair Gate and let him up. Obviously DS ran straight into the bedroom to wake up me and DD. So that was the end of that.

Hope everyone has a nice weekend planned.

peardrop2 · 15/10/2016 11:04

Sloth - I've had 3 sessions of cranial for Dd. I'm not sure it's done anything but Dd absolutely loves it. It's like this women puts a spell on her whilst she's having a massage. It's bizarre to watch. Ds had many sessions and he did not enjoy it at all. I felt like it was a waste of money with him and it was about £55 for him and £40 with Dd as I found a more genuine place second time round. It's worth asking local FB groups for recommendations! I hope this means Dd will enjoy mummy and daughter spa days Smile

Thanks ladies regarding your comments about my decision. Dd has stopped the yelps in her sleep TG and she hasn't got any worse since no medication. Her posset no longer smells like really bad sick. She slept well in the night but was very congested so woke herself up a lot. I've realised she has a cold doh! I get confused about babies with colds as there is no runny snot! Ds woke up with a cold yesterday morning so that answers that.

The painter has started decorating the nursery which is very exciting Smile I've purposely not looked in as I want the wow factor at the end.

Biscuitswithtea · 15/10/2016 14:03

Glad it feels like the right decision Pear. At the end of the day, all advice any of us gives online like this is theoretical. Even if we've had similar experiences, we have never met each other or our babies.

My DDDDH is off making me coffee with warm & frothy milk. Thank heavens. Last night was atrocious (more DS than DD). DS is fighting a cold and losing his voice a bit. And has been on semi hunger strike for the past few days. I will be frankly astonished if he isn't falling off the bottom of the charts when he gets weighed on Wednesday. He's only c9th centile at the best of times and is currently extra skinny. Some children fill out before they have a stretch. He does it the other way round!

peardrop2 · 16/10/2016 03:16

Biscuits I know how you feel on the cold front Sad I'm not having fun with two snotty children. Dd is really bunged up and constantly feeding. Joy

BellaGoth · 16/10/2016 04:31

We're just coming out of colds now, I've found saline drops have really helped DD. They were only about 90p from our local pharmacy.

I've just signed up for updates on an obstacle course fun run thing in aid of battersea dogs home. It says you need to be fit. I am NOT fit. Why did I do that? One of those 4am sleep deprived fits of optimism!

peardrop2 · 16/10/2016 17:25

Bella - tried saline drops. This time...hasn't done anything Sad Just remembered where we got this cold from SadAngry Visiting a friend for tea last Monday. OMG it was sooooo not worth it. I can't even put dd down for one second. She's a snotty mess Sad I really hate it when friends don't warn you about colds. Especially when you've got a baby Hmm

Belager · 16/10/2016 17:46

Long time no see one and all! It's been a whirlwind (almost 3!) months! Where has all the time gone?
Hopefully I will keep up with this thread better than the last!

BellaGoth · 16/10/2016 21:20

Pear how annoying. My mum turned up covered in cold sores last week. I was NOT impressed.

We've had a really rubbish day here. DS and DH both in foul moods for whatever reason, and of course take it out on me. Lucky DH then went to bed at 7.30pm leaving me to try and take out bins, shower, tidy round etc whilst watching baby DD. Oh how lovely it would be not to have any responsibility. Hmm

peardrop2 · 17/10/2016 02:34

What's people's opinion on using vapour rub on a soon to be 11 week old? I've not rubbed it on her as it says 3 months but I got desperate in the night and put some on tisssue

peardrop2 · 17/10/2016 04:44

Bella Poor you... can't believe your mother did that Sad I feel annoyed for you!!

BellaGoth · 17/10/2016 06:25

Pear You can get a milder version of vapour rub called snuffle babe. It still says from 3 months but my HV and pharmacist both said it was fine.

11 weeks isn't far off 3 months anyway though really.

Biscuitswithtea · 17/10/2016 06:56

I would probably use it at 11wks Pear. But sparingly and perhaps during the day the first time just to be sure she's okay with it.

Bella Angry on your behalf!

Belager · 17/10/2016 07:49

pear they say not until 3 months because they have no nasal hairs so if you are going to use, use sparingly as biscuits said and maybe dilute it somehow? FTM here so I stick to what the Drs tell me!

peardrop2 · 17/10/2016 09:35

Yes I have snuffle babes. Didn't realise that it's a milder version! Hmmm interesting about the nose hairs! As she's a pre term baby I better not put it on her then and not too much on a tissue! Thanks x

Belager · 17/10/2016 10:12

Please let me know if it works! Have a bunged up premmie too! So far saline ain't cuting it!

Sophia1984 · 17/10/2016 10:17

Talking about colds.. are you avoiding your babies seeing people with colds or just seeing it as part of winter? I can't help thinking, if it's family, then it's ok as if it was my DH or if I had older children, DS would be exposed? My sister just asked if it was ok for her to come over as she has a cold and I've said it is, but don't know if I'm being lax. I'm going to get her to wash her hands and not kiss him etc. He wasn't premature and doesn't have any immune issues, and I had flu jab when pregnant (though I know there are different changes..)

Fizzyboo · 17/10/2016 10:17

Just place marking, hope everyone is doing well...
I've been on a photographic rampage the last weeks or so, taking pics of DD in all kinds of autumnal set ups ha!
Mini pumpkins and autumn leaves, ivy wrapped round wicker baskets like I stole her from the woodland fairies BlushI figure I can dish a few out as Christmas prezzies to her grandparents too totally being a cheapskate

plimsolls · 17/10/2016 10:26

sophia I'm hoping to avoid people with colds at the moment purely because I'm only just feeling like I'm getting the hang of E's rythyms and needs (etc) and I'd like to avoid any disruption as much as possible, plus the stress of her being poorly again is something I'd rather postpone.

That said, I think it is an inevitable part of winter so it's just not possible to avoid all bugs and cold viruses.

I'm just avoiding the obvious sources where I can!
