Hopefully this works...

So we can keep in touch and pass on words of wisdom!

Perhaps someone clever could link to the stats?

Sock have used a variety, all good. Sainsbury's own are crap though - they leak wee after about 3 hours. We're using Pampers at the moment - they're great Grin

AnnaT45 · 15/08/2016 16:49

Thanks ruby tams and cheery! I managed to get her to sleep in the sleepyhead next to me last night and today, but a lot of head stroking! I've tried the blanket but it doesn't seem to work so I'll try the tshirt as that's a good idea!

sock maybe try a size up if you're getting leaks as can mean they're a bit small. I use pampers but hear good things about Aldi I've just never tried them as happy with pampers but should do as they're much cheaper!

My diet is going well... Had two biscuits and a muffin. FFS I need a kick up the bum.

Can believe some of you are on 6 week checks! Grace is 2 weeks tomorrow! Hope they all go well x

socktastic · 15/08/2016 16:54

It's pampers I've been using at the moment but will give the aldi ones a go. Aldi 1 and 2 are both newborn though - Adam is pushing 11lbs so might just go with the 2s? He saves all his poo up and has one super poo a day. There's loads of it!

Rubytuesday2980 · 15/08/2016 16:54

Thanks sophie, will investigate Mothercare.

sock I really like Boots own brand ones, and now H is bigger, Pampers are good.

Happy days, no more home HV visits as this hungry baby is up to 9lb 2oz at 5 weeks old, from 6lb 12oz at birth Smile He's going to be a teenager before I know it!!

primarynoodle · 15/08/2016 17:29

Annie took her bottle yay! Next question: for those who are mixing breast/bottle - what is the most useful bottle your partner gives? She cluster feeds all evening so I can't replace her evening 'feed' as such but I reckon some time around then would be good - no point doing a night feed as dp wouldn't wake up unless I woke him up so I might as well boob it!

We use aldi nappies - she was in size 1 for the first 1-2 weeks, now size 2 and will probes have another week or two in them. We tried adds ones which were crap - don't know why they won so many awards! They felt slippery Hmm

So far aldi nappies have been fab although she did a real explosion today with a good 24 hours worth stored up... Not only was there loads, it was so powerful it shot up the back of the nappy! She was wearing a really thin cotton white outfit - AND WE WERE IN PUBLIC! BlushBlushBlush

Rahhhh does anyone elses babies bat their phones when in your arms and delete your posts?!?!!! Sooo annoying! He nearly liked a picture on FB when I was snooping/ stalking the other day!

beckslovestimmy · 15/08/2016 19:47

Sock Aldi size 2 will be fine as Ben was 11lb 5oz 2 weeks ago. He still fits fine in the size 2's but I've run out. The 3's are a bit big so recon I could get another few weeks out of size 2's.
Ben only poos once a day do there is usually quite a lot!!! The nappies have passed the test so far.

tams13 · 15/08/2016 20:06

primary that made me chuckle. I can imagine the embarrassment! Hope you survived the bottom explosion.

We're using just 4 bums at the moment. They're on the Kiddicare website and come in a massive box claiming to be a months worth of nappies. Dd is three and a half weeks and the rate we're going through them it looks like they will last us about four weeks. They've been pretty good - only one leak but they were a bit big on her at that point.

Bluebell20 · 15/08/2016 20:18

Okay okay so I have been too frazzled to read the thread for a couple of days, and still need to catch up, but just need to share this...

It seems as though the doctor never sent off the referral to the hospital for my lump! I rang the hospital today because I was worried my appointment letter had gone astray in the post, and it turns out they had no record of me being referred at all! They told me if the GP could fax the referral through today then they would make sure I was seen this week, which is really good of them. However I phoned the surgery four times today to get this sorted and by the time it was done, the breast clinic had closed for the day. Arrrrrrgggggghhhhhhh I reaaaally hope this lump is something benign or I am going to feel like a total dick for not chasing the lack of apponeny sooner...

Anyway, in baby news, I haven't expressed in a couple of days because Ru won't stop cluster feeding! Literally the only time he has slept today has been whilst on the boob. I am so so scared of what my boobs are going to be like after a couple of hours' sleep tonight. I'm thinking: over-pumped basketballs.

Cookies the baby batting sounds dangerous - you don't want them accidentally liking something on a page you are snooping on!!!

And we are using pampers nappies with no issues. Not been brave enough to transition to our washables yet...

Bluebell20 · 15/08/2016 20:19

By appneny I mean appointment. God I should really proofread my posts!

primarynoodle · 15/08/2016 20:49

Argh bluebell that's so crap. At least it sounds as if they are going to fast track you now but it's still not really good enough! I'm sure it will be nothing to worry about in the end but I guess that doesn't stop it from playing on your mind now!

Annie is 6 weeks today - anybody else with a slightly older baby noticing a sudden increase in sleeping? Past few days she's not far off slept like she did in week1 both day and night! She wakes every 2-3 hours to feed then sleeps again! Growth spurt maybe..?

Can't believe the spread of ages on the thread now, time is flying

Flossie do you live in the south west? I went for coffee today and am sure I saw a baby that looked just like rose??

Oh bluebell that's crap. Badger them tomorrow. Best of luck, but I'm sure there isn't anything to worry about. Not what you need though

Quick Overview of lost post..
tams no one should ever be judged by how they feed their child. Ignore the silly cow.

cheery have a lovely time

Nappies: loyal pampers fan over here. Granted our Aldi opened last month so may be tempted once he's a bit bigger .. I always buy on good offers. I hate many brands including : Tesco, Sainsburys and Waitrose nappies Hmm

Went to our first 'mum and baby' class today and was a success. Will be hurting in the morning I'm sure!

socktastic · 16/08/2016 00:18

bluebell that's awful! Keep at them!

primary Annie seems to choose her moments! I love a good poo story! I think there's been a bit of an increase in sleeping here too. Adam still has pretty much the same pattern in the day but is sleeping for longer at nighttime. He's been asleep since 7 and woke up bang on midnight for his feed. It's the next part of the night which is always more unsettled though.

I had Adam in work today - schools here started back today. Must have been hard work for him being passed round as he was mr stroppy knickers for the rest of the day. Didn't have long for his nap then cried for almost a full hour!

He had to be taken to my mums for a bath after we'd been in though due to the poo running down his leg!

Bluebell20 · 16/08/2016 01:44

fifi it is so great to hear from you and to see pics of lovely Luca! Ruben is 5 weeks and yesterday was all about eat change cry repeat. He usually only has about an hour of alert calm time per day.

Cookies has the sex ban worked yet?! Have to admit here that we have not even tried to dtd yet post c-section. If the baby is asleep then all I want to do is sleep!

Beaut I think you're a total hero for breastfeeding for the first few weeks. I was thinking of you yesterday when Ruben wasn't giving me more than a 45 minute break between feeds, and I was imagining that with 3 other kids on summer hols! Augh! Bottle feeding makes a lot of sense for you!!!

On DHs and coping, mine has said a few times now that he doesn't think he could cope with the demands of feeding and interrupted sleep. He had to come back in with us in Saturday night as my friend was staying in the spare room, and he couldn't believe the straining noises that Ruben was making from 4am. I got hysterical giggles over DH's distress about it! Then at about 7am he said 'I'm soooo knackered' and I got the giggles again and managed to choke out 'are you fucking kidding me?!' He did recognise that was an audacious thing to say when I had been up four times to feed in the night...!!!

Flossiesmummy · 16/08/2016 09:21

Beck no, I'm a Lincolnshire lass Wink

beckslovestimmy · 16/08/2016 10:47

Ahh well Rose's twin was out for coffee here in the south west yesterday flossie. Grin

GoingLoopyQuickly · 16/08/2016 14:25

Sock i know I am a bit late to the party but we used colief for ds. He couldn't fart very easily and this stuff helped him digest the milk. It is pricey so I got it on prescription.

Also my OH seems to be struggling a little. He is spending all his time with ds, hiding behind me bfing. He then says we need to be firmer with DS (2.5 years) one minute and lets him get away with the earth the next. He gets snappy and stroppy for very little logical reason.

Then he is super supportive and tries to help, but is so determined to do things his way that he won't do it the tried and tested way because he thinks I am telling him what to do! It is all so bloody precious.

AnnaT45 · 16/08/2016 21:26

Just to quickly say... My friend has lent me her moby sling. It's awesome! Grace loves it and frees up my hands. If anyone has a clingy baby I would get one! I need to master breastfeeding in it if I can. Had to feed Grace whilst pushing DD1 on the swing in the park today. Was worried I'd end up in the daily mail Grin

Hope everyone is ok? It's lovely and warm! Trying to make the most of it

socktastic · 16/08/2016 21:27

Thanks loopy we have our 6 week check up on Friday (when he'll be 8 weeks old!) so I'll ask the doc about it then.

DH tried helping tonight! He gave the wee man his bath (I got to be the wingman!) then took him off me to feed him, calm him down and put him to bed. He only let his temper once! (I still did the nappy and the dressing for bed) ladies, we have progress!!

Bluebell20 · 16/08/2016 23:43

Hooray for progress sock!

I managed to get a hospital appointment for tomorrow afternoon - well, today now. They were really fab about squeezing me in. Bit worried in case I have to have a biopsy and it affects my breastfeeding - but I am just so grateful that it's getting looked at that I will just have to accept whatever else comes of it.

DH made a really cool discovery today - Ruben will participate in a 'conversation' of sorts, taking it in turns to poke his tongue in and out of his mouth if you do it with your tongue too. It is the funniest thing! He genuinely waits for you to stop, then responds by doing it himself! He is so luscious. I totally wasted two hours of sleeping time this afternoon because he was asleep in my chest and I just couldn't stop staring at him.

Bluebell20 · 16/08/2016 23:43

ON my chest! Damn it Mumsnet!

Rubytuesday2980 · 17/08/2016 03:48

In your treasure chest bluebell? Grin Got to love the auto correct. Very cross on your behalf about the doctor, that's properly crap service. Good that you have the appointment today, I hope they look after you and that it goes well xx

Ladies, help me out with a baby sick question...
H was properly sick on Monday evening after I fed him at 8pm (whilst being burped), but it didn't seem to bother him and all feeds afterwards and yesterday daytime were fine. Then the same thing happened yesterday evening and has happened again sbout an hour ago. I think the nighttime wriggling is getting worse, but he's definitely doing it in his sleep. Last night I didn't get him up because I think I'm waking him up and possibly feeding him unnecessarily, ie he's only acting hungry after I've got him up/changed his nappy etc so not sure if this is habit or genuine need. But why is he just being sick after evening feeds? Is it possible to overfeed a breastfed baby - could he be sucking for comfort and ending up taking in more than he needs?
Currently peacefully asleep in my arms, no grunting when being cuddled - lovely but also not going to get me any sleep!!

socktastic · 17/08/2016 07:21

We've just gone 9-7 with a 45 minute feed at 2! Yay!

Bluebell - will be thinking of you today. Hope it all goes well.

Ruby - why don't you try picking him up and rocking or cuddling him - if he wants fed he'll let you know! I don't think babies are that bothered about being sick. I think Adam takes what he wants in the feeding position but when he sits up then he realises he's had more than his wee tummy can take and the excess is puked away!
