Hopefully this works...

So we can keep in touch and pass on words of wisdom!

Perhaps someone clever could link to the stats?

Hello all!!

Hope you're all well! I will try read through this later!

I'm just jumping over v quickly as baby is coming tomorrow and need some wardrobe advice! DD was a winter babe so I'm not sure what this one will wear? Can you offer any advice please?
X

primarynoodle · 31/07/2016 16:12

Anna at the moment dd is wearing as many layers as me so either a sleep suit or an outfit with no additional vest. If we go out we put a thin blanket on top, temperatures are starting to drop a little now though so that might change soon. Dd is quite a hot baby though so it depends on the general temperature of your baby!

Best of luck for tomorrow - bet you're very excited!!!

We've been using a vest and sleepsuit in the day and the same at night but with a blanket over her. She often kicks the blanket off though. I've been wanting to put her in a little romper but have been worried that she'd get cold with her arms and legs bare.

beckslovestimmy · 31/07/2016 16:50

Anna for the first night in hospital it was a vest, babygro and hat for Ben. It was baking but midwives said they cannot regulate their temperature for the first 24hours. He was also wrapped in a blanket. Now in the day it's usually a romper or just a vest, at night if it's hot he's just been in a short sleeved vest, when cooler he's just in a babygro no vest underneath. I've been using a thin fleece blanket and sometimes he kicks it off. The Moses basket is right under my bedroom window so he has a bit of fresh air/a breeze over him. It's better/safer for them too be too cool than too hot.

Bluebell20 · 31/07/2016 16:54

Thanks everyone for the feeding advice! I think I will set four hourly alarms overnight for now - he usually wakes me up before the alarm anyway - and ask the HV what she thinks next week.

Anna, we have been putting Ruben in a vest with a babygro over the top during the day, and then different thicknesses of blanket depending on the temperature at night. Tams, he is a blanket kicker offer too!

I am itching to start exercising again, although I still have three weeks to go until I can begin. Does anyone have any good post-caesarean exercising ideas / tips?

socktastic · 31/07/2016 17:17

Swimming is great exercise but not sure if you'd manage well with a csection scar. Walking is always good too.

We've had a quiet wee lad this afternoon. Had quite a journey on the car today where he slept all 1 3/4hrs there and back. Not sure if there's anything wrong or if we have a contented baby. The natural worrier in me tells me something is up.

Cheery1 · 31/07/2016 18:56

anna - oooo exciting that you're meetong your LO tomorrow! Same as other ladies - Maurice is in a vest and sleep suit on MW advice. Thin blanket overnight, sometimes 2 which he kicks off. Good luck tomorrow xx

socktastic · 31/07/2016 19:40

Looking forward to hearing your exciting news tomorrow anna. Hope all goes well for you xx

AnnaT45 · 31/07/2016 19:52

Ah fab thank you all! That's really helpful. That's what I was thinking but wanted to double check. Super excited / nervous! Just went and dropped DD at my sisters for the next two nights then we went to a lovely pub and enjoyed some time on your own for dinner! I'll update you tomorrow! Can't wait to find out if I'm going to have a girl or boy! Xx

Good luck Anna! Can't wait to hear your news. Claudia hot baby too. We have her in a sleep suit no vest + blanket at night and outfit or romper + thin cotton cardi during the day.

Bluebell/julfin/Anna - drumroll for the blind please...and here it is! Not quite world's most beautiful miracle but I'm pretty happy with it!

Lots of long sleeps in car here too. Always think you can't really judge that time as normal so don't feel out too much as long as nappies full and weight on track. Find myself using phrase 'she seems alright in herself' all the time now as a gauge of my concern or lack of.

Night night all. Sleeping when she is...

Wrote a big long message andist it Sad

Baby been feeding constantly since 8.30 and stopped only for three poos. I'm hoping a full nights sleep will be my reward. She's still going but has finally closed her eyes so I'm hoping the end is nigh!

Cookiesandcoffee · 31/07/2016 23:13

Sorry ladies life has been too busy and ive been too rubbish ive fallen off all threads Sad

Good luck anna hope all goes well and smoothly for you- how exciting!!

primary hugs to you. And claps for how well you've resisted the urge to punch mil in the face

becks benny is so scrummy! You must want to squidge him all the time. He looks so grown up (I know he's one of our eldest babies but he looks so much bigger!)

bluebell unless you have weight gain issues mv said don't worry about waking for feeds. I expressed my concern especially with the hot weather and she said as long as there's wet nappies they're fine. G can sometimes go over 5 hours but just be asleep. For reference at day 14 he was just at his birth weight and day 21 he had gained 12oz

DTD - feeling ok to go ahead down there now. The other day i was 'in the mood' for a few hours but then the screaming / windy / unsettled baby took it away. He always feeds 10-11ish and is fussy before this. So daddy is a bit put out Hmm (we are 4 weeks here)

clothing we have been living in a vest or a short sleeved romper. Maybe a cellular blanket on top at night, nothing more really. I had him in a vest and babygrow and HV told me this was way too much for time of year and gave me a scare story about over heating. If it's a chillier day I pop him in a babygrow with no vest, but that's been pretty rare
In hospital he had two layers and a hat as they find it hard to regulate temp post birth

bluebell I would be very careful with exercising, I would wait for 6 weeks before you take on anything. I asked my colleague who is post natally trained and had two children herself and she told me to wait and I've not had a section and feel fine.
I don't know much about sugar dips I'm afraid. But based on weather and feeding my MW and HV just said to feed when he's hungry

Sorry to hear you're struggling julfin . I know it's an annoying thing to hear but it will get easier ( tells self my own advice!!) I second hopes advice of sling, helps me get stuff done especially at DDs dinner time

sophie not selfish AT ALL. Totally your choice and decision. My only advice would be to make sure you're sure. When I stopped with DD2 I did regret it after. Might have just been me tho! Do you have a pump? Whatever you do do it based on your decision and don't beat yourself up :)

Oh and julfin since having multiple children I never shower in the morning!! It's my secret to getting out the door! Always at bedtime. I do everything the night before!

promary I've had the coil (mirena) but sent me a bit crazy / low mood. The coil did stop my periods but was horrible having it out in. I haven't heard many success stories of injection amongst friends. We don't get on with condoms at all unfortunately . We are going to visit the doctors as soon as we get round to it for DH to get the snip. But we are very much a complete family now.

Falling asleep and baby asleep.. Will catch up some more tomorrow ladies (hopefully!)

Cookiesandcoffee · 31/07/2016 23:31

Nope he's awake and screaming again. You would think I know what's wrong. But I don't. Has driven me mad this evening has been so unsettled :(

To add to my rant my hay fever is HORRIFIC. Streaming nose, sneezing and its setting my asthma off a treat. Are normal tablets ok with BF? It was winter last time I BF! It's really not helping the situation and hoping I can get something for it tomorrow.

Also-baby G keeps on sneezing all the time too - do babies get hay fever?!

SpeakNoWords · 31/07/2016 23:36

I take loratadine for hay fever which is ok for breastfeeding. I was wondering about whether babies are affected too as Corin has occasional sneezing sessions...

dollydaydream84 · 01/08/2016 00:57

Argh I'm demented!! Little one has been awake and feeding since 8.30 with a half hour break where she slept and when I loved the quilt she woke up. This is surely not normal?! I keep wondering whether to get her some expressed milk in a bottle but end up deciding it will be a waste & she won't drink it as she's had so much milk from me I keep thinking she just cannot be this hungry!! I am knackered. Dd1 gets up at 6 so unless we have a good stint of sleep now I will be knackered for all of tomorrow too. I am so over growth spurts!
5 weeks

socktastic · 01/08/2016 02:23

We've been doing vest and short sleeved romper by day and vest and sleepsuits by night. He gets a blanket or two depending on temperature but being in Scotland, we don't tend to have much of the nice weather!

dolly I hope the wee one has settled and you've managed to get some shut eye!

We've just had the midnight feed, he slept soundly from 8.45 to 1.45 which is a complete first for him! Just hoping he'll go back down easily and we may even get all the way through till 6!? Grunting baby still to come though. That's always fun!

primarynoodle · 01/08/2016 03:00

* Dolly* I bet he outgrows a few clothes over the next 24 hours. Last week Annie had a mad cluster feeding evening, was super fussy, and then slept through from 1-6 and literally woke up having outgrown her sleepSuit!

cookies thanks I'm not sure how I haven't decked her one either tbh!
Sending sympathy with hay fever, It's crap. Mine was shocking in pregnancy.

indians, becks, beaut gorgeous photo updates! I'm too scared to Bath Annie on her own but she seems to enjoy baths with me... Although she did poo on me the other day!!! How long are people going between baths now?

bluebell hormonal won't work for me either. Is there a difference between mire a coil and copper coil? I thought coil was want to be helping!

iulfin first days of partner back at work I got nothing done. It is easier as a team but give it time and you'll be there chasing after an unruly toddler!

elliz fab blinds did you make them ??? Shock

When do you start trying to space out feeds? 2-2.5 hours isn't enough, I'm shattered!

OP posts:
dollydaydream84 · 01/08/2016 05:08

She finally went off at 1.15 and up again at 4.15 Sad funny you should say that about clothes primary as I swear she's gained an extra chin overnight Grin weighing day today so we shall see! Soooo tired I'm hoping the toddler and baby nap at the same time so I can get a sleep today...seems unlikely!

Primary I don't think spacing feeds is a thing, feeding on demand is all I've ever heard of but might be wrong. Takes at least 6 weeks to get proper supply demand going so definitely not before then! It does ease up though and feeding a not always this demanding from what I can remember. I too am knackered Confused

Thom80 · 01/08/2016 05:34

anna - good luck today! Will be thinking of you. Cat wait to find out the sex & name of the baby.
beautician - I hope that you can get some help. It sounds very full on. Fingers crossed your OH is on the mend.
I am so sleep deprived. Emmie sleeps for about a total of 1:30!hrs of the course of the whole night. Currently see is sleeping on me. Any advice?!? She is predominantly bottle feed but always start with the breast.
My OH hasnt taken any real paternity leave just the odd day. No help at night, & is apparently exhausted!! I tried to get him to do the feed before bed but that has stopped, he only managed it about twice. Arghhh
Going to see my parents today just to get a two hour nap in. Sorry rant over.
Has anyone bought a good bouncy chair?

socktastic · 01/08/2016 06:03

I've got a fisher price chair but it's a rocker. Love it at the moment though as you can put a kickstand up and have it stationary. Love it for daytime naps!
