Hopefully this works...

So we can keep in touch and pass on words of wisdom!

Perhaps someone clever could link to the stats?

Ben is struggling with wind, if he's awake it's fine but if he's asleep it doesn't matter what I do u can't get his wind up. He'll settle and sleep fine but by the morning it's like all that wind has got into his guts and given him belly ache, he grunts and farts won't settle and crys out until the wind is gone and he's pooed this takes about an hour!!

Sorry those of you who's DH's/DP's are being twats. Mine doesn't do anything baby related unless prompted but he doesn't question what i'm doing and does a lot of the house work. They can be so clueless and self centred though!! .

socktastic · 28/07/2016 10:03

Arse biscuits! After pumping 240mls yesterday following a 2 day break, I'm struggling to even get 20mls out today! Guess I shouldn't have stopped and restarted! ConfusedAngrySad

primarynoodle · 28/07/2016 10:09

sock I can't describe it properly but there's loads of images/YouTube videos... It also buys me a few more minutes if I'm cooking or in the middle of something and she's hungry I'll get dp to hold her like that and rock her and she chills out for a bit longer. Result!

dats I put on over 3.5 stone in pregnancy! It must have all been swelling (i couldn't get Any of my shoes on in the end and she was a week early!) but I did used to be quite toned and now I'm slim again but flabby so still got some work to do! and can't be arsed to do it

beckslovestimmy · 28/07/2016 11:55

I've got 2 stone to lose to get back to pre pregnancy weight and I was already about 2 stone overweight!!! Need to get on it!!!

Cheery1 · 28/07/2016 12:54

Morning ladies. I haven't been near the scales yet, terrified!!

Think I have to wait even longer to exercise post c section - can't wait to run again, really miss it and my cake habit is out of control.

Tiger in the tree sounds great primary. Anything for a bit of boob respite - my right one is getting mauled! Mo is so strong and can push himself off the lovely latch we start with into all manor of agonising positions that involve biting and basically punching my poor nips with his scratchy little hands. So looking forward to them toughening up!!!

Flossiesmummy · 28/07/2016 13:08

Cheery I've lost all my baby weight post c-section but I still have an impressive pooch Confused

I desperately want to get out doing more exercise than just walking. I want to wear nice clothes again!

Cookiesandcoffee · 28/07/2016 13:37

Wow flossie that's amazing has it just fallen off?? Unfortunately I gained in the region of 4 stone (and had put on a good 1/2 stone beforehand) so I've got a longgg way to go. Think I've ditched 1.5 so far. I'm not officially exercising, I'm doing it secretly as no it's not recommended to start before 6 weeks (and that's without a section) Butttt I'm really feeling the pressure to get my fitness back (even if not my body) so I can get in shape ready to go back to work

primary that sounds highly annoying! I hate when people who had children 20+ years ago think they are midwives!!

sock keep going! The more, and more often, you pump and you'll get it back. Have you tried massaging around the sides of the boob? Like from your cleavage and next to the arm pit? Even the best pumps aren't totally efficient at emptying the breast. Maybe try some milk boosting foods and drinking extra water??

Ah ok glad I'm not alone on the wind front I didn't knowWhere it was coming from. I'm putting a lot of the fussing down to wind.

indians when are you planning on getting married? primary half a stone is nothing don't worry about that! How exciting, I would just look for venues and then the rest follows? Can you browse Pintrest for wedding ideas while you're feeding baby? That's where I started with mine. I got married when DD2 was 18 months.

Sorry for sharing but my piles are still pretty bad :( after I've ' been' I'm in pain for ages after (not to mention the actual passing!) still using my prescription but it's been 2 weeks now?

Well just been to the breastfeeding cafe at the hospital and Annie has a tongue tie?! Shock she's gaining weight like a trooper and feeding isn't at all painful - the bf consultant said my impressive overactive let down means she doesn't really need to put any effort in she just lies there and waits for the milk to flow in and then gulps it all down!

cookies I love the wedding Pinterest stuff, I could spend hours browsing on it!

for those exercising, why do we have to wait 6weeks? (C sections aside obviously)

She is gorgeous! Look at all that hair! Both dh and I were baldies until we were at least 1 so our wee guy looks like a miniature grandad at the moment.

Sorry to hear your ex is a bit of a dick. Is this a school holiday type of thing? Dh has offered to let me have a decent sleep tonight. Wonder what that means? I'll get 9-1 instead of 9-12?

Cheery1 · 28/07/2016 17:25

Ooo cookies you poor thing - are you on the iron tablets too? They make things so much worse in the poo dept!!! Gentle hugs to you x

primary sounds like you're doing amazingly! Throw that rule book out the window! Will you get the tongue tie op anyway?

Talking of sore boobs - we've been using a dummy as recommended at hospital but now worried that's why my boobs are being savaged. Is Mo used to a narrower latch because of dummy? How will we ever sleep if we don't use it?! Any thoughts lovely ladies?

indians so sorry about your ex - that sounds rough. Bertie is lucky to have such a lovely mummy. I guess just be kind to yourself and know that in the long term 'Disney daddy' doesn't mean anything. Also I'm finding DH doesn't deal as well with the lack of sleep - can wedding plans wait a wee while til you're out of the crazy newborn bit? men just aren't as hardcore as us mommas! Sending hugs - sorry you're having such a rough week x

Cheery1 · 28/07/2016 17:26

P.s. Hallie is ridiculously cute!!!

Maurice after his bath time - so cheeky!

Chickz · 28/07/2016 19:54

Hello can I join! I'm a bit late though. My ds was born on 5 July.

Loving all the gorgeous pics of the babies.
Anyone having any issues with their babies squirming during and after feeds? I'm breastfeeding and am pretty sure I have a forceful letdown meaning the milk gushes out initially. I'm thinking it's either bad wind or reflux. He seems better if I keep him upright/ hold him after feeds rather than put him down. Lots of crying from him today. Today has been hard!

indians Moan away, it does sound like you're having a shit time. I can sympathise with the ex, it's DD1s birthday next week so mine wants to play dad of the year and is taking her to do all this stuff (which obviously I can't do right now) despite only seeing her for a total of half a day a month usually. Anyway, what I tell myself is that in time they will see through this act eventually, and Bertie will know the difference between what you and DP provide vs Disney-dad-of-the-year. So hard though isn't it. Sending FlowersSorry to hear DP is Being hard work on top of this.

primary you must have super boobs! Are you going to go for the tongue tie snip or not bother? Waiting post 6 week check just means your doctor is happy for you to exercise. Even post 6 weeks there are certain exercises you shouldn't do. Relaxin levels still haven't gone down, your tummy muscles may not have gone back together etc. I would even avoid classic abdominal crunches and high impact workouts for an extra few months or so. I'm not post natally trained myself mind you.

I'm going to go to buggyfit as soon as I've had my check. I really really recommend this class as you can bring baby, it's outside so the fresh air will make you feel great, chance to meet other mums, and the instructor will (should!) be postnatally trained. I see 'professional' fitness instructors out there giving bad advice to new mums and it really upsets/angers me on behalf of those women.

cheery and indians those babies Grin absolutely gorgeous!!!

Welcome chick Cake we are having wind issues here as well. (Exclusively breastfed) it's driving me mad. I have no answers other than lots of winding so far AngryHmm

sock sending you sleep vibes! I've forgotten what 4 hours sleep feels like?! Best of luck

primarynoodle · 28/07/2016 22:21

Seems a few of the dads on this thread are struggling a few weeks in to understand the reality of newborns - especially for those of us breastfeeding, perhaps a bit of jealousy of the time spent with baby during cluster feeds etc... If only they knew! What I'd give for an unbroken 8 hours sleep DP!!!

indians as others have said - my brothers dad was a Disney dad and it didn't tKe long AT ALL for him to cotton on... I know it doesn't make it any easier now though :/ sounds like you're in need of a decent break! I hope it helps that you can stare at that beautiful little baby! She is seriously cute

chick I have a really forceful letdown and Annie sometimes gags at the breast. The bf consultant today said getting into the cradle hold but then lying back so gravity works against the milk helps, also once they come off spluttering hold them up and wind them while expressing a bit of the milk off before putting them back on

Mo after bathtime looking so cute! Does anyone use any oil or anything after bathtime on baby? I've heard johnsons baby oil is crap for baby skin but don't know if that's a bit of scaremongering or not..

RE: tongue tie - I really wasn't expecting it so don't know anything about it. Does it matter if I don't get it snipped if she seems to be feeding well? Does it cause other problems further down the line?

primarynoodle · 28/07/2016 22:22

Cookies - buggy fit sounds good, maybe I need to do a bit of research about things available round me!

I'd definitely be up for the commune 😄

Indians - I still can't get over that mop of hair! It's fabulous!

Cookies - gosh you are very strict! I think I will be disobeying you and exercising well before 6 weeks.

Primary - re baby skin products - a couple of midwives have recommended only using stuff that you'd eat - e.g. coconut oil or almond oil (but not olive oil). I've been using coconut oil. It's so deliciously smooth - and it smells fantastic! He smells like summer holidays, or a macaroon 😍 Are people only using products after baths, or after nappy changes too?

Day 14 - time flies!

dats · 28/07/2016 23:47

Nameless one hasn't actually had a bath yet Blush

primary DD and DS both have slight tongue tie. With DD we were told it was unlikely to affect feeding and pretty much advised not to intervene - but I had a chuffing awful time bf her in the early days months But 27 months down the line, her speech has definitely not been affected, everything is completely normal. So the fact that you didn't realise she had it and that feeding is going well, I'd be inclined to not do anything. With DS his latch feels better than hers although still not perfect - but I haven't really thought about getting it looked at.

Indians Hallie is so cute! She has a wise look about her!

Cheery Mo is so lovely - so cheeeeeeky!

Cookies I promise I will avoid all strenuous and every other type ofexercise until at least 6 weeks post-partum. Grin Sorry about your bum. Mine's a little better but not loads. What cream does the doctor give you? Did you have to get your bum out at the doctors? I'm really hoping it won't come to that, I'd rather shove a whole tube of Germaloids up there on an hourly basis than show anyone me Farmers.

sock your sleep goals made me laugh. DP keeps saying, on nursery days as he's taking DD while he's on paternity leave: "I've set an alarm for 7.30." and I want to go: "ALL RIGHT, don't rub it in!!!"

God I am dreading next week Confused

dats xx

Ellizardo · 29/07/2016 02:05

Early morning all! Heres Claudia cogitating on life's mysteries today. Went to the seaside with grandparents which was truly lovely but man it wiped me out. Was asleep by 830!
We don't use much on her post bath unless she needs a little Burts bees nappy rash cream. Think coconu oil sounds fab and have some in kitchen!
Anyone other babies with a little baby acne at the mo? C has it a little and I'm looking forward to it disappearing not that she minds in the slightest.

Am sure it's just wind but getting odd glimpse of a smile. Think that starts around 5 weeks so not long now. It's my favourite part of newborn life, that first proper smile. Hope pics come thick and fast then.

Indians really sorry to hear of Disney dads. Yet again an example of appropriating a precious situation to you and making it about them, bah.

Cookies - I think buggy mummies is a great idea...will do after 6 wks as have had csection and today reminded me to take it easy at the moment...also our park has a massive hill Hmm
