Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
lilstarry1 · 26/08/2007 09:19

Oh Chuffed, I am sorry

I shall send all my baby making thoughts and feelings!

I don't have much time but wanted to let you all know that we gave birth to a beautiful little girl on Friday 24th, at home as planned at 1-40pm. Labour was rather quick and not too painful (although the little madam decided to stick around the bend for far too long!!)

We haven't decided on a name yet, but she's ever so lovely. We had a fab first night and a rather fraught second, Beebe is loving her sister and finds the whole thing rather exciting (especially as there is a balloon and some new toys!)

Hope everyone else is well,
Love to all x

iris66 · 26/08/2007 19:39

HUGE CONGRATULATIONS lilstarry1!!!! our first younger sibling for the Nov 06 babies. Sooo pleased for you, DP and Beebe. How heavy was she?

Not much news here except I developed Gestational Diabetes again (bloody PITA) So am constantly hungry trying to control it with diet alone . Only 10 weeks to go though so I'm keeping everything crossed.

On the up side, DD got 2 A's and a D in her A levels so is definately going to Leeds in September We're all so proud but, jeeeeez, I had totally underestimated how much it's going to cost us!!!! 9and I'm going to miss her soooooo much {sniff*}

DS is still utterly adorable though, a right chatterbox with an amazing range of funny faces for any occasion (including a plastic/rictus smile that has us all in hysterics) He loves "boda" (Bob the builder) cars and lorries and nothing more than sitting on DH's shoulders on walks flailing his arms around shrieking at all the traffic. His temper has improved (headbutting/biting has more or less stopped through lots of ignoring, thankfully) however he has developed a very strong aversion to any help and would rather fling things across the room than accept assistance - he's developed a fantastic "evil glare" especially for such occasions

Hope everyone is keeping well. Busy/stressful summer hols notwithstanding! The thread has been awfully quiet of late Take care all x

iris66 · 27/08/2007 13:34

Nov 06 ???!!! OMG I really do have no brain this time

HeyThereGeorgieGirl · 28/08/2007 11:33

Hey Lilstarry, fantastic news. Am so pleased for you. Send weight, name and pics as soon as you can. Big kisses going to you and yours.

Iris - Dom sounds just like Libby. She's turning into a right stroppy mare. Doesn't want help with anything. Favourite word is 'no'. Won't get dressed, won't have nappy changed, won't keep bib on, won't sit in pushchair.....and the list goes on AAARRRGGGHHHH. She's driving me nuts. It's only because she's a little munchy dink dink that I can forgive her these outbursts. And 'its only a phase'!!!!

We had a fab holiday in Portugal. Mollie learnt to dive and Libby turned into complete Daddy's girl. My mum and dad came with us for the first week. We all really enjoyed ourselves.

Started TTC this month. Don't think we've hit jackpot though . Had blood tests at doc in July to check that hormones/thyriod OK and all came back tickety boo. Bit worried that I wasn't ovulating, but started taking agnus castas and ovulated this month. Am terrible when it comes to being patient.

Mollie will be 6 on 12th Sept . Where does the time go? We're taking 12 of her girlfriends out to the cinema to see Bratz the Movie {hmm] and for pizza and ice cream. God help me. Am dreading it as ex MIL and FIL and ex-h new partner there (she's pg with their 2nd ). But will smile and do best lovely girl impression.

Oh, we get to start building mid Oct. Next door neighbour most pissed off, but there's nothing she can do about it. She came round last Monday night with plans for an extension that she thinks we should build because she doesn't like the one that we are going to build. Was so . Managed to keep civil tongue in head, but after an hour and 10 mins of her banging on about what she wanted us to do lost temper and told her that we would be building EXACTLY what we wanted to build and if she didn't like it then tough luck. Am not being emotionally blackmailed by 70 year old woman in my own home. Grrrrr.

Hope everyone well and kiddy winks are too.

G xx

wherethewildthingsare · 28/08/2007 13:52

Hi everyone, gosh it?s been a long time ? I do read threads now and again but time seems to just slip away at the moment.

There?s good news and bad news?

The bad, my dad died at the beginning of August, 9 weeks exactly after Mum, I just missed being there at the end (neither of them read the damn book!) but it was very peaceful. I can?t believe I?m an orphan at 38! I thought they would live forever and always be there for a cuppa and some advice The last few weeks have been a whirl of hospitals, funeral directors, death and religion. Went to the V festival for a break last weekend and it was a total mudbath, quite different from my plan for us to be drinking beer on a rug in the sun ? we enjoyed it though, only camped one night.

The good news (cos now I?m in tears again!) is that dp has given in and happily agreed to get married (whey hey!) this is a big deal, he has been very anti-marriage and it has been a bone of contention between us. I think he was just scared to death. That sounds very unromantic but I do believe he is almost excited about it. We think we will do some kind of beach do, just the 6(!) of us. I am also coming round myself to the idea of no.5! Yes, mad I know but both of us know what it?s like to have a big gap with siblings and Finn is becoming quite the little emperor! He is finally walking (running even) and definitely rules the roost. I guess I have done a lot of thinking about family etc and it is what counts in the end.

Lilstarry ? massive congratulations to you all!

Georgie & Chuffed ? good luck with the ttc ? I think I will give myself another year (if that?s not too late). I start my new job in 2 weeks so need to assess the work/financial situation. Will be doing 3 days initially but hopefully there will be more work ? would love 4 days if we can manage on it.

Sweetkitty ? saw your bad news on another thread ? so sorry ? sending really positive thoughts to you and your family. Take care of yourself.

Iris ? sorry about the GD again, Finn is just like Dom (same stars?) he is obsessed with keys, locks, things that do up and CARS! His op went well (day after dad?s funeral) and he?s learnt loads of new words ? esp Bob the Bid-dider!

PS saw the film ?knocked up? last night ? total nonsense but thoroughly enjoyed it!

iris66 · 29/08/2007 11:58

WTWTA - I am so sorry about your dad. The past few months must have been really hard for you.
Fantastic news about getting married though A beach wedding sounds fab. We had our reception in a beach taverna in Cyprus after I finally agreed to marry DH & gave him 2 weeks to organise it! I was living there at the time & we didn't tell anyone in UK about it. It was so relaxed and a lovely memory.

Chuffed · 31/08/2007 09:53

Congrats lilstarry1!!!!!

iris66 - ds loves the cars too and has some amazing faces. Still not a huge amount of understandable words but he does chatter away and certainly lets his needs be known.

WTWTA - So sorry to hear about your Dad too. Hugs and supportive thoughts being sent your way across the seas. Great news about the wedding though. dh and I got married on a beach here in NZ. It was fab, you just have to list the venue on the marriage license application as 'what ever beach' and 'whatever backup plan' incase it rains and it is legal.

HTGG - Good news on the house and the TTC. Hopefully we'll be on the next due thread. Well done on being civilised for so long to the neighbour, there is only so much you can do to be accomodating to others when it is your house.

Well my news is sort of good and a bit ???
We have just finished another fertility cycle and when I went in to have a blood test last week to check my progesterone levels I snuck a tick onto the sheet for a preg test as well in case it showed up early. Well it came back POS but they are worried about the levels again as they are low. The thing is it was only 1.5wks since I ovulated so I'll know on Monday if the levels are increasing as I'm due another test. I HATE WAITING!
We had three awesome follicles so hopefully one of them has taken well.
Well that is it for us will keep you updated.

HeyThereGeorgieGirl · 03/09/2007 18:48

Chuffed - Obviously the sticky vibes worked . Send some back over to me please. Best of luck that this one stays the course.Fingers crossed for you.

No jackpot last month. Will resume peeing on sticks and having v unromantic sex this month and see what happens. Friend suggested getting blind drunk and having a shag. Said that would work if 18, but am slightly knackered 37 yr old so need prevailing wind and everything working in my favour!!!!

WTWTA - So so sorry to hear about your dad. Jeeze, you've been thru the wringer. Least you have wonderful wedding to plan to balance out the sadness with some happiness.

Iris - Not long now chick. Bet you can't wait. It's one in one out in your house! When does DD depart for uni? Bet you'll blub and then be told to stop it cos you're her!!!!

Had some sh8tty news myself on friday. My darling granny has been diagnosed with ovarian cancer. Am absolutely gutted. The docs suspect she has 6 months left. Just reeling with sadness. Will make the most of our time left. But hell, it's a crappy way to go. Will also go and get test to see whether there's a possibility that I might get it as apparently her mother died from it as well. Bit scary.

And to end on a lighter note. Moo lost her first tooth today. So get to play tooth fairy tonight.

lyra41 · 04/09/2007 12:58

Hi girls

Not too much to report from this end. Back to work now after 5 weeks holiday, it passed in a flash.

Still enjoying Alex lots, loving the new words every day phase and he's getting into playing on his own a bit, which is great. He likes the car track and the ramp from the back step to the garden, whizzing cars down and going "weeeee!"

Lovely to hear all your news, congratulations to all you preggie people, trying not to be too . Dh says another baby would kill him, so i think that's a no then.....

My ds1 is now so tall at age 15 that we have had to get him a king sized bed in which to fit his enormous frame! Lucky sod, I wish I slept in a king sized bed. He loves it though, and is so much more comfortable.

Back to work now, more later.

lyra41 · 11/09/2007 20:09

where are you all girls? I'm getting lonely here!!

sweetkitty · 19/09/2007 22:43

Wow so much to read on here sorry I have been away so long and neglected you all. As some of you know (thanks for the lovely messages) I lost DC#3 in August, was totally gutted never expected it to happen after having 2. I'm feeling better now and back on the ttc bandwagon.

T is doing great she is such a little girl now, thinks she is 3 like A wants everything A has and to be doing everything A is, they hate being separated now A is at nursery and T runs up the corridor shouting for A and they have a big hug which makes everyone smile. Oh but they fight too, T has a violent streak and lashes out quite a bit. She's still tall and sturdy slimed down a bit, hair a ball of blonde fuzz that I'm trying desperately to put into a ponytail. She's a lot more advanced than A was at this age probably as she copies A all the time. She tells me she's done a poo, never stops talking, can count to 10, says simple sentences like "Mummy teddy quick Talia" and thats her oh sleeps like a dream now after a terrible first year.

lilstarry - congratulations am delighted for you, any word on a name yet? Two little girls is just fab and you will be fine it gets easier as they get older and once no 2 gets out the newborn stage and they eat/sleep/play together.

Lyra - big hello and hope works going ok

Georgie - maybe we will be on the same antenatal thread, best of luck with the ttc and hope you get your extension sorted out soon. Sorry to hear about your Gran too

Chuffed - any news? I hope those follicles have done the business for you?

rach/wildthings - oh honey so so sorry to hear about your Dad passing, thats so rough on you hope you are taking care of yourself. Good news about your wedding though and am your thinking about number 5

Iris - you must be getting close now is it November you are due? Hope your doing ok pregnancy with a toddler is rough. Hope DD got away to uni OK too x

Lisa/FS - you are so strong I couldn't imagine DP not being around, good news about the op and I do hope you lose the weight and give Lola a little brother or sister

hope I've not missed anyone out promise not to stay away as much next time SK x

OP posts:
Tickle · 20/09/2007 20:44

Hi girls - back again after a hectic summer season at our cafe and nature centre... all went ok, so now we have to start planning on renovating the upstairs of the farm, so we can live there - yet another BIG project

Wow, quite a few ups and downs while I have been away...

So sorry Rach about your dad, and Georgie about your Gran's news... hope your LO's are keeping you cheerful.

SK nice to hear from you - sorry to hear about your M/C - I had a similar experience, but went on to conceive dd2 more or less straight away afterwards, and that went fine (although I have to admit I didn't really relax til she was born!)

Good luck to everyone TTC, and congrats Lilstarry! And light floaty beach ball vibes to you Iris (gets a bit uncomfortably big now, I remember)

Theo is a bundle of energy, has still only a few teeth (finally got 2 on the bottom!) but says lots of words - a very firm and definite 'yesss' when you ask him a question is the cutest. We have to get our video camera back from a friend to record this time, cos it goes very quickly!

He climbs anything, and can now climb in and out of the bath (repeatedly ) and out of his cot - and is incredibly strong willed. Rach I think you're extremely brave to even think about no5 - 4 is enough for us!!

My sister down in Melbourne had her second baby 2 days ago She was 15 days overdue and 10 lbs!!! My sis is not a big boned gal, but everything went fine thank goodness They have called her Indigo.

That's all from me - bed calls

T xx

Chuffed · 25/09/2007 01:47

Well I went for my 7.5wk scan today and there were 3 heartbeats

So I have been referred to the high risk unit but those sticky thoughts need to stay with me as there is more of a chance now of them all not sticking around.

HeyThereGeorgieGirl · 25/09/2007 11:53

Flipping heck Chuffed. Just logged on and seen your news. Fingers (and legs) crossed for you .

Still no BFP for me. Kitty, chances are that you'll be on an antenatal thread before me. Not sure why it's not happening for us. Am peeing on sticks, taking vits, eating healthily blah blah blah. Guess it's just a matter of time. Sigh.

Kitty and Tickle- lovely to have you back.

Building work on hold AGAIN. There's a chance that we can win the appeal for the extension that we really want to build so we've taken decision to stop going ahead with other smaller extension and wait and see if we can build the larger one. Whatever happens one of the damn things will get built March08 if it sodding well kills me . least we have Christmas here rather than in a rented house.

Libby is a complete hooligan! Starting to say much more. No sentances though. And def can't coun to ten . Desperate to get into M's classroom at the end of the day and sit at one of the tables with the big kids. She loves carrying her handbag around and could quite happily walk for miles. Swear she runs on batteries as her energy is relentless.

Iris - am awaiting your news. Hope the last month is relaxed for you. Or as much as it can be with LO legging around.

Hope everyone else OK and LO not running you ragged.

iris66 · 26/09/2007 07:04

Hi all - we finally got DD off to uni so can relax a little now.
The 4 hour journey to Leeds in a very packed car did little for DH's humour (especially as I drove & he was squashed ) but he recovered. I can't believe how much planning/packing we ended up doing! And the number of clothes she insisted on taking!! I had to almost forcibly relieve DD's bag of 20 T-shirts (she still took over 20, and 10 pairs of jeans!) - I've no idea where all the clothes came from Anyway, she's sharing a flat with 4 other girls (all doing nursing and who seem really nice) and can phone home free anytime (which is such a relief) courtesy of a couple of Skype (internet) phones that DH got cheaply in the States during the summer.

I'm now in full nesting mode in anticipation of restocking my depleted nest (Nov is becoming scarily close ) and busy trying to keep my diabetes in check (the consultant keeps ranting about me "needing" insulin but my sugar is better controlled than last time despite the parameters being narrower). I'm having regular scans etc to check on growth and everything is fine and dandy so far.
Dom now goes to creche for 2 mornings a week and loves it. He's decidedly not keen on aeroplanes (much to DH's consternation) and is really starting to show his personality. He seems to gravitate towards puzzles when on his own and loves anything that can be used as a hat! DH took him out to buy shoes today and he was so excited when he got back, shouting "noo shoes" all over the place (needlesss to say they couldn't come off until bedtime!) It's going to be fun with two I'm sure

Georgie - massive good luck vibes for the appeal (and the TTC obviously! - I bet the stress of it all stopping and starting can't be helping) Libby sounds a real character and clearly oozes confidence (is it a second child thing d'you think?) Sorry to hear about about your granny. How's she bearing up? I hope you get good time with her that you can treasure.

Chuffed - Oh My Goodness Gracious Me!! (maybe we all overdid it sending positive vibes?! ) You must be in shock yourselves at the mo! Fingers crossed that everything progresses healthily for you.

Tickle - congratulations on your new niece (what a lovely, gentle sounding name BTW) and hope your building plans don't go the way of Georgie's (blimey, it's all babies and building isn't it! ). I know what you mean about the camera - we've been terrible for not taking any photos, I must sort our camera out too (good reminder!) Is the whole nature centre closed now or just the cafe? can't remember from last year, sorry. You must be really looking forward to the break from all the baking! Are you going away anywhare whilst you have a chance?

Sweetkitty - I'm seriously impressed with T's vocabulary and she sounds uber confident like Libby (there must be something in this second child thing)Dom's is extending daily but he still has frustrated screaming fits when he can't get what he wants to express across to you.

Lyra - I don't know about you but I now struggle to know where the years are going let alone summer holidays! And your DS is 15! - not long and you'll be doing the uni run eh I actually felt old when we dropped DD off (and a bit embarassed at being so heavily pregnant, if truth be known - how silly!) DH is on about having his vasectomy re-done next year (I think another one would kill me, let alone him, so this one will definately be our last!) A single child and a twosome works fine for me.

Wherethewildthingsare - any news on the ttc or wedding front? you can spill here 'cos we won't breathe a word, promise Have you started your new job yet too? How are Finns ears doing since the op btw? Do you have to wait for an assessment or is it taken as read that it's a success. So much better than him having to have hearing aids, poor lamb.

...bugger just noticed the time apologies for the rushed last bit of my lengthy diatribe ...

Lilstarry1 - hope all's well with your two lovely DDs

ForcesSweetheart - hope the "longtimenohear" is for a good reason (ie that DH is back home and you're too busy having fun )

Loomer/Barrelrider/Hunkermunker - long time no see (anywhere!)- hope you and yours are all well.

Must get the porridge on for brekkie (and note to self...post more often and you wouldn't have to waffle so much to keep up!! ) take care all love & hugs x

iris66 · 26/09/2007 07:06

ooooh - that was long wasn't it sorry, I've been up for ages (pg insomnia)clearly I should have been ironing instead!

HeyThereGeorgieGirl · 26/09/2007 19:19

Iris - Can I ask you a quick question. Have been self medicating agnus castus for last 2 months to try and regulate cycle and ensure that I ov. But have been told by another MN'er (who sounds quite knowledgeable) that I shouldn't self medicate as can throw hormone levesl off balance? Any advice? Ta ever so. G xx

iris66 · 26/09/2007 20:27

Georgie - I don't know enough to advise really - sorry. The only thing I would suggest is to get an appointment with a qualified homeopath as I do know that remedies can be completely different for different people (DS & DD need different remedies for colds, for instance). The Helios website has homeopaths online during the day (or you can talk to them over the phone) but it maybe better to go & have a decent consultation with one that you can sit & chat personally with (do check qualifications first though!)

Reflexology (sorry - can't help but plug one of my own specialisms ) is fantastic for rebalancing all your body's systems (including hormones - it sorted out DD's chronic period pain/PMT, and soo relaxing) and if you have it whilst ttc you will feel more comfortable having it whilst pg during which it helps all sort of little niggles, from constipation to oedema to SPD (I treated many ttc/pg ladies to good effect)you should find a good one here HTH and good luck

HeyThereGeorgieGirl · 27/09/2007 12:35

Hey Iris - thanks so much for this. It's all pretty much by the wayside now as have just founf out that I'm pregnant .

Am absolutely sh*tting bricks (pardon my French) as am paranoid that something will go wrong. Am going to book in for reflexology though as might go some way to settling my nerves......

iris66 · 27/09/2007 16:30

bloody hell Georgie! fab!!!!!!!!!! oooh fingers crossed for you but do be aware that if you've not had reflexology before (or recently) some reflexologists wont treat you until you're at least 12 weeks ( reason being that if there's anything wrong with the pg the treatment will help your body to do what may come naturally earlier (sorry to be blunt - there have been some (unsuccessful) legal cases as a result). Be thinking of you

HeyThereGeorgieGirl · 27/09/2007 17:18

I know! Am walking round in a daze! And feeling rather sick. But think that's nerves more than anything. Certainly put the kybosh on skiing next feb! Will just have to take it day by day. Will def book in for reflexology after 12 weeks though. x

iris66 · 28/09/2007 10:27

I'm so pleased for you I was in shock when I found out i was pg too. I think I posted the same day just because I needed to tell someone other than DH! It's lovely to be able to share the excitement isn't it.

Tickle · 28/09/2007 10:48

Wow it's all happening here Congrats girlies

3 heartbeats is quite a number Chuffed - bet you nearly fell off the couch at the ultrasound Keeping fingers crossed that it all progresses well

And Georgie - you can now use a bigger family as the reason for needing more space

DH is off to Barcelona for a few days with dd1 and ds1 next week. We've decided to do a few short breaks with various combinations of kids... more relaxing than taking the whole caravan somewhere, then we'll go to Norway for our first ever family ski hol at Easter.

So now I just have to think of where I want to go. Where did I put that long list..?

should be working, so better go
T xx

Chuffed · 28/09/2007 21:21

Oh Congrats Georgiegirl does that make you due May as well or June?

Tickle we thought it was twins (just a feeling) so three was a surprise but not as much as it would have been if we had thought one baby.

Off to a stocktake sale at the local nappy store, see how many cute newborn nappies I can pick up at a bargain as I will need a lot. Poor dh is going to have to learn to wash the nappies I feel.

Tickle · 28/09/2007 22:56

We had a friend, in her mid 30s now I suppose, who was one of triplet girls... of course that was before ultrasound, so her mum didn't know for sure until they were born! At least you and DH can see what's brewing
