WOW SK, Sleeping thru the night at last!! Thrilled to bits for you.
Lola went back to screeching every time she was put in her cot when we got home from visiting the rels at xmas. PU/PD (well more just PD) sorted her out in a couple of nights.

hunkermunker · 23/01/2007 18:34

Ooh, hello! How are you all? I kind of lost track of the last thread.

DS2 is a non-sleeping hilarious bundle - latest pic on my profile. Can't believe he's ONE!

He's started talking - points and says "Up there!" if I ask him where the light is. Will poke his tongue out at me and waggle it fatly if I ask him to, shake his head, screw his face up and sniff comically to order - and can sign for milk (he looks like he's clicking his fingers!) and makes contented snuffles when he gets it He's not walking, but will stand briefly unaided and cruises.

Last night he was lying down waiting for his nappy to be taken off for his bath and was pointing at the nappy box, then the bathroom and saying "BA!" insistently. He loves having baths!

His favourite toy is a metal spinning top - an old-fashioned one. He loves it (it was how he learnt to crawl - I kept moving it out of reach when he was 6mo and by the time he was 7mo he went and got it!) and is very good at making it spin himself.

I'm back at work full time (am at work now!) and our house is going on the market later this week as we want three bedrooms and to be nearer the school we want the boys to go to. I still have two weekdays off with the boys as I work four ten-hour shifts and do a Sunday.

DS1 is pretty good with his brother - he does like to have first dibs on all the toys but he's getting a bit better at sharing. DS2 adores his big bro and laughs at everything he does. DS1's just started galloping everywhere, which DS2 finds hilarious.

sweetkitty · 23/01/2007 19:34

hiya Lisa we did a version of put down too but as I said once she clicked there was no milk on offer she hasn't bothered waking up, I think we are all getting a lot more sleep now she's no longer in with us although I do admit I miss her little warm body snuggled up to mine.

Hunker - T doesn't sign for milk she's not that subtle she walks up and squeezes my boobs or tries to latch on through my top. The girl is a human dustbin (like her father) tonight she had 2 fish fingers, 5 chunky homemade chips, 2 huge broccoli florets, carrots, peas, sweetcorn, a yoghurt then was whinging for some of my dinner and had garlic bread and pasta! Her breath will be delightful I'm sure. A had next to nothing.

I don't know how you cope with the non sleeping and with working??? I had truly come to the end of my tether and knew we had to do something. One rough night and she's been brilliant after that, I've started to enjoying BFing her again too and I'm keeping going for a wee while longer now.

Out of sheer nosiness what is your job?

Yay - well done Sweetkitty on the new thread and I am soooo pleased you are getting some sleep now (must have been hideous - especially with trying to keep T quiet for A, much the same trying to keep Dom quiet for DD doing her GCSE, then A/S, and now A, levels!!) We still have a few bad nights but, as you said, no boob on offer and they seem to just not wake as much!) We conceded that bouts of frustrated crying for a couple of nights whilst being cuddled by DH was more do-able than intermittent grizzling all & every night and no sleep for anyone!

Hi Hunker am seriously impressed with the signing!! DS understands "change nappy" & drink but doesn't sign anything himself, he's not walking either (occasional couple of steps) but does a hilarious (and speedy) hands and feet scuttle (with his arse in the air) often ending with his feet overtaking his hands so ploughs his face into the carpet (frequent carpet burns ). LOL at the sharing though - a friend came round the other day & her (5 yo)DS was playing with a toy that Dom had on his high chair tray, Dom grabbed my friend's DS's jumper arm and twisted it (a bit like you'd expect a nasty skinhead type to do) and gave him such evils! (translated as "you toucha my toy..I toucha your face") I was in hysterics! but perhaps more interaction with others is needed

Lilstarry1 - congratulations!!!!!! what more can I say?? but fair play to you going back to Uni - must be hard. Good luck!

Hope everyone else is well TTFN

iris66 · 23/01/2007 20:10

just to correct myself DD had just finished her GCSE's when I found I was pg (or rather when she found the pg test )so I've only been trying to keep DS quiet through her AS & A levels (God is my brain still that bad !!!!!

iris66 · 23/01/2007 20:12

And a big happy birthday to T for Friday

am really going now

Chuffed · 24/01/2007 07:25

Happy B'day to T too. Isn't it hard to believe they are 1.
Finally off to specialist re ds's supposed allergy to dairy which will be interesting.
We start swimming lessons next week and he hasn't actually ever been in a pool so should be interesting compared to dd who swam every Sat from 3mths to 16mths when we left UK.
We are thinking it would be really nice to be expecting no. 3 but no af and no signs of ovulation so it isn't likely to happen with a simlar gap which makes us pretty sad.

BBWBabeLisa · 25/01/2007 19:50

Hunker ur wee guys are absolutely gorgeous! Those big brown eyes!
I must get round to updating Lola's web-page with her 1st birthday party piccies.

Chuffed · 26/01/2007 07:03

I thought I'd post to say I've done my profile thing so if you click on my name you'll get a thing that comes up with about me and some photos of my gorgeous 2.

lilstarry1 · 26/01/2007 10:24

Ooo new thread
Happy Birthday Talia!!
Beebe will be reaching the big ONE this Sunday and my mum is coming up so I'm pleased.

SK- Yay for sleep! I know how much trouble you were having so I'm pleased things have settled, long may it last. Beebe has started waking every night at 1 and coming into our bed, it's a nuisance but it works for the time being, I know there's more we could do to discourage her but we're both rather tired and in all honesty I like having her in with us .

I've been having a nose at people's profiles, my my there are some truly gorgeous littles amongst our lot. I shall have to sort mine out, I've not been on for a few days as my laptop went for a swim and has died, oops. Fortunately DP has a laptop so I'm able to use his when he's not about.

Hunker - he sounds delightful, I can just imagine him giggling at your eldest DS, it's so sweet when they find something amusing. Beebe loves her bath too, she signs a crazy splashing motion when I sing the 'bathtime song' (don't ask ) How are you finding working? You sound like you're always busy... Oh and good luck selling the house! Dp and I have been talking about houses, we've decided to stay here for the time being and to save save save in the hopes of moving in a few years, with the costs of moving itself we're keen to do it as few times as possible!

Iris - Ah, a-levels I remember those I was the first year to do the A/S system, how is your daughter finding it? They are such a stressful thing, and only when you're finished do you realise how small the whole process is in the grand scheme of things. Ouch at the carpet burns , we've got mostly floorboards - much to my in-laws concern, it sounds bad when Beebe falls but they're so much easier to keep clean, she has carpet in her bedroom so there's a soft surface somewhere in the house!

Chuffed - good luck swimming ! We took Bee lots when she was younger but haven't been since our holiday in September, were intending to go last weekend but DP was full of a cold. I love the water and my mum didn't take me that much when I was little so I'm sure it's more about enjoying it as and when than it is exposing them to it constantly from a young age!

Don't I waffle . All is well here, I went for my scan on Wednesday and I'm 10 + 5, which means Bump2 (the second coming) is due 17/8th. Don't even mention the hot summer. Actually it works well because I'll be able to attend SIL's wedding and our family holiday without being a whale. I'm finding it a bit easier now, I went through a really bad patch of all day sickness that saw me unable to do much of anything, not ideal with a 1 year old. Fortunately Beebe's mostly a star so I get rest and such. I'm back at Uni and enjoying it, although it's strange being that bit older and having such a different life, I sometimes want to thump girls complaining they couldn't possibly read an entire Shakespeare play and do other important things, gah.

Best get my bum into gear, Beebe's stirring and I imagine she'll be awake any time soon. Hope all is well with you all, have a lovely wintry weekend.
xxx

sweetkitty · 26/01/2007 22:31

hi lilstarry happy birthday to Beebe for Sunday, I think you are fab being back at uni, having a one year old and being pregnant. I know how rough it was sometimes for me nevermind trying to do a degree. When do you finish? Will you be taking some time off and going back once no2 is here? I adore having an 18 month age gap. At first it's hard as the baby doesn't do much but then again they stay in the one place. I'm loving it now as they have started to play together, only thing is T must have anything A has, then A gets cross and pushes T and T cries. But A is only a baby herself really and hasn't grasped sharing yet. But you do get some lovely times when they are singing together or A is "reading" T a story.

We have had a great day today, we went to M&T's and T had a cake and presents, then DP took them both to a soft play thing and had lunch, T slept most of the time, then we came back and A "helped" open her presents and play with them too. Cannot believe she is one already, oh she's so cute though I could eat her (you all know what I mean I'm sure).

ANyway we had a lovely day too on Taras birthday on Saturday. Shes not as forward as most on here but shell get there. Only crawling for 3 weeks but shes happy and healthy and having fun with her brother. They just scream with laughter at each other sometimes -and never fight - yet~!

Anyway shes teething and bit unsettled so better go. Could anyone post Yahoo link as finally might be able to put on some pics. Better late than never!

Glad to hear all other news although not replying to everyone -sorry

PoppiesMum · 31/01/2007 15:21

Hi all, glad to see a new thread, the other one was just waaaaay too long to keep up with

Poppy was 1 earlier this month and continues to be a real joy - after a horrendous time at about 8 months, she now allows me to have an un-interrupted nights sleep! I often don't see her before 7.30am

Lovely to hear all about your toddlers - dd has taken a couple of tentative steps but prefers to crawl everywhere still.

After our imminent house move, I shall be returning to work for 3 days a week, so Poppy will be going to nursery for 2 days and dh will be in charge for one whole day a week! Am seriously tempted to 'forget' to make dd's lunch and teain advance in order to give him a full understanding of everything involved!!!

I look forward to reading about more of our Jan '06 babies (so sad we're calling them toddlers now!)

Tickle · 01/02/2007 20:50

go poppiesmum!!

mumfun sweet photos Haven't got any recent ones sorted, as we mislaid our camera battery Not me I hasten to add!

Off for the day tomorrow to a trade show - first full day without Theo... and like Poppiesmum I am wondering whether to throw dh in at the deep end and let him make lunch etc. Will probably relent & make the lunchboxes tonight!

Gearing up to our trip to England - yay!

Hope everyone is well,
lots of hugs
T
xx

BBWBabeLisa · 01/02/2007 21:29

Mumfun! How cute is that?? Awww lookin at wee baba pics is makin me broody, just when DH and I have decided to put TTC on hold for a bit!

sweetkitty · 01/02/2007 21:56

hi everyone just realised I don't think I've posted a picture of T on that yahoo site, must try and fix that although my pc is a nightmare right now. She's walking everywhere now, hasn't mastered steps or obstacles yet (and has the bruises to show it) I hate this stage they always seem to have bruises on their heads, especially when family come to visit and they make you feel like a bad parent because you don't stand a foot away from them at all times when they are learning to walk. I think they forget what it's like having a toddler.

Our big news was that T went into her own room for the first time on Sunday, of course I was practically in tears, my baby, but she has been utterly fine. I cannot believe the baby who woke 5-6 times a night and needed a boob to settle is now sleeping through the night in her own room and it was so easy. Keep waiting from something to go wrong. Her room is lovely though, lilac with an eeyore theme (from Argos only one I liked ) not as nice as A's pink bedroom apparently , I bet they both grow up tomboys after all the pink and lilac in our house poor DP.

Anyway I'm waffling so I'm off x

hi girlies

Theo still has no teeth - is he the last one??! Otherwise running around and climbing everything - DH found him standing in the sink this morning

frantic here trying to get everything ready to go to England on Sat Will I fit everything (and everyone?) in the car??

We won't have internet while we're over there, unless we visit my mum etc, so I want to wish you all a great early spring

wherethewildthingsare · 08/02/2007 11:24

Have a great trip Tickle! no snow here this mornin(all melted) , we seem to have just missed the worst of it.

Finn has had his ninth ear infection and we managed to get referred to the ENT casualty. He's got drops this time and hopefully they will get a good look down there in a week's time.

Hope everyone else is ok - I'm very impressed by your profiles, will have a go at mine!

BBWBabeLisa · 08/02/2007 13:34

Have a great trip Tickle. Lola's got 8 teeth now, but still not running around like your Theo - they all seem to develop different things at different rates. She whizzes around with her walkie, but won't let go. Only just takes a few steps holding onto one of my hands, sits the second I let go.

WTWTA - sorry to hear about Finn's ear infections, poor wee soul. The profiles are fab aren't they, I'm loving being really nosy!

HeyThereGeorgieGirl · 09/02/2007 13:58

Sodding PC up the spout. Am alive, just keeping fingers crossed that the sellotpae and will power will hold out until I've typed message!

Hi all. Happy birthday to all our little ones.

Have a fab trip Tickle. Not sure if you'll read this before you leave, or whether you're anywhere near me, but if you're in SW London anytime and fancy a coffee, come on over! Mobile is 07967646953.

Rach - bad news about Finn. Suffered from recurrent ENT infections as a child. They bloddy hurt!

SK and Mumfun - good news about you're LO sleeping thru. About time huh!

We're off skiing next Sun for a week with another 2 families. Mollie's first time. DH and I taking snow boarding lessons. Should be fun. Gulp. Am taking bets now that I'll come back either in plaster or with a knee brace!

Hope everyone else hunky dory.

G xx

PS - This could possibly be the most boring post EVER.

iris66 · 19/02/2007 21:03

Hi all - can't believe how little our thread is and how low down the list too!! so thought I'd resurrect it whilst DH is watching TV. (Suppose it just reflects how busy we all are though so that's not such a bad thing)

Things have been fairly quiet of late chez iris. We've been doing the rounds of Uni interviews this month with DD and she's now got offers (dependent on grades)from Leeds (her favourite), and York (had a fab time shopping!), to study psychiatric nursing - she's sooo excited. More interviews at Southampton and Keel at the end of the month so hoping for no snow!! She's in Austria skiing at the mo(and making full use of the apres ski facilities no doubt) and DS is missing her like mad. He keeps banging on her bedroom door shouting for her (Aww!).

On the DS front, he had some "animal" today (tuna) with no reaction for the first time ever . He had it at lunchtime and previously (with lamb/chicken/haddock/salmon) he's either exploded from one end or the other within a couple of hours or has been uncontrollably itchy and covered iin hives by bedtime. They do say a reaction can take up to 48 hours but it's looking good so far [fingerscrossedsohardthey'renowgoingwhite emoticon]

Georgie - can't wait to see pix of your LOs in the snow on yahoo - do post please!! (note to self...post new photos!!)

WTWTA - poor Finn - he really suffers with his ears doesn't he. How's work going? are you able to be flexible with the school hols?

Tickle - good luck for your trip!! and lol (but also eek!) at the thought of Theo getting himself into the sink!!!!!!!

Sweetkitty - hope T is still sleeping through. (D isn't - now nicknamed "3 times a night D"!) she sounds just like my friend's DD - exuberant, adventurous and gorgeous - even with bruises

Lilstarry1 - hope you're fairing ok second time around and not too tired.

Chuffed - how did the specialist appointment go? (better than ours I hope! - 2nd appointment the SHO told me to give DS dairy formula instead of the soya he'd become allergic to - despite it being in his notes as allergic to dairy!!!

sorry to miss everyone else but bad mother's handbook just about to start and am desparate to watch it! lots of love to you all & keep posting

hugs Iris xxx

lilstarry1 · 21/02/2007 20:08

Hello All, its gone so quiet Definitely busy busy busy. Hope everyone and the not-so-little-ens are well, Beebe sends lots of kisses - she currently kisses almost everything, very cute and most amusing.

Iris- fab news on the tuna, hope he remained ok...Aww bless him and his love for his big sister, and congratulations to your DD on her Uni choices, sounds fab! Is she looking forward to it? How much are you dreading it? Definitely an exciting/tense time.

Georgie - how did the skiing go?Corr, you're brave, I've never been probably something we'll do for the first time when Beebe is a bit older, just seems so.. cold

BabeLisa- Lola sounds a lot like Beebe when it comes to walking, just not quite obtained that confidence, she's close now but still nervous. How is Lola fairing?8 teeth!Blimey it happens so quickly, Bee has 4 now - they look so grown up with their big top teeth!

Wildthing - Aww, hope his ears have cleared up, it's awful when they suffer continually.

Tickle - hope you're having a lovely time here, the weather seems to have mild which is nice, am feeling the very beginnings of spring which never fails to excite me. I just love the image of your littlie in the sink, they are so amazingly determined at this age, Beebe can confidently climb up our very steep terrace stairs, and she loves doing it too! Not good!

SK - Hope the sleep is still happening? We ended up using controlled crying with Beebe and my goodness what a change, she now sleeps through with no problems and settles on her own during the day / at night. Big relief. Definitely needing the sleep at the moment am absolutely knackered by the end of the day, Uni is tiring and I'm either being a mum, reading, cleaning or studying some obscure theorist. Ah well, it's all fun

Poppiesmum - good luck on the move/return to work! Hope your DH copes, I think it's good for them to be left in charge completely, my OH is brilliant but he doesn't manage to get everything done when he's left in charge, still I couldn't manage without him so I'm certainly not complaining.

Right, well this has been a work in progress, since starting I've read an entire Shakespeare play, passed my driving theory test and almost fallen asleep at the keyboard definitely time to love you and leave you.. I shall update more about the goings on here soon!

x

wherethewildthingsare · 22/02/2007 12:40

Hi all, v v quiet on here! My biggest baby (ds1) was 13 yesterday, almost a man! Do I feel old... Finn is fine at the mo thanks everyone, hopefully we will see a consultant soon. Other news, my job is under the threat of redundancy or redeployment somewhere I don't want to go I'm not sure I could work in a real office after all this time at home! Also my mum is v poorly with some digestive problem they can't diagnose.

Hope everyone is well
