We're into thread 2! Can't believe our babies have been here this long!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Hello! Pleased people are still about!

DS has 16 teeth but is so dribbley this week and last that I think something is going on. He had his first one at 4m so perhaps his final molars are coming in early too?

I'm finding this toddler stuff tough. He didn't walk til 16m and now is all over the place all the time. He has words but doesn't always use them or they're things like cat, which doesn't help! My MiL reassures me this is the worst she and things get better!

Troika · 06/09/2017 12:02

Wow handbag dd only has 11!
Toddlers are bloody hard work. Dd wailed for 25 minutes walking home earlier because she wanted me to carry her and I said no you can either walk or go in the buggy Gin

clumsypots · 06/09/2017 20:38

How did Dds first day of school go troika?

Yes handbag toddlers are a nightmare! We seem to be constantly mopping up dribble at the moment.

Troika · 08/09/2017 10:13

So far so good clumsy, although she hasn't found anyone to walk with yet and she is so tired! How about your dd?

clumsypots · 08/09/2017 10:22

Oh good. Yea she is reallyenjoying it but is being an absolute nightmare at home! It's driving me insane!

Troika · 11/09/2017 10:33

We have quite a big tweenager attitude at the moment!

Actually that's from all 3 dc including the one year old!

cudbywestrangers · 30/09/2017 20:49

Omg I can't believe how long it's been!!! I am so sorry ladies Blush

I'm sorry to see your news troika and hope you're recovering.

Hope the CBT and meds work their magic...

Hope that all the older ones have settled into their new schools!!!!

We're all ok, but life has been full on. The toddler tantrums are so wearing! And we've just had a week of everyone being ill (which also involved toddlecud vomiting on my friend's lovely new pale grey sofa Blush)

Ds1 has settled into school pretty well but is exhausted by all the excitement! My fears of him struggling because he didn't know anyone seem to have been unfounded and the childminder seems to be working out really well. I even quite like the school run. Phew!!!! But i feel like a proper grown up for the first time and not sure I'm used to it yet.

Toddlecud is mostly great. He seems happy at nursery and is on the go all the time. I just read back and can't believe that I said he had words all those months ago!!!! He does have quite a few (mostly undecipherable) but seems to prefer grunting and wailing to talking at the moment. Sleep remains hit and miss. The slightest hint of teeth or illness or full moon or the wind blowing the wrong way seem to cause all sorts of trouble. I'm planning to sort out naps now ds1 is at school though... I did realise the other day that his personality is really starting to come through. When he's in a good mood it's all great Grin

So pleased to see you lots are still around and will try to keep up better...

birdbrain21 · 30/09/2017 23:06

Hi ladies feel like a newbie here but not really. I was on all the antenatal threads and first post natal bit then dropped of mumsnet due to a combination of the hackergate situation driving me mad as I couldn't be bothered to keep changing my password and I was slightly depressed as well and found the Facebook group really supportive as I'd actually met some of the ladies in real life, but inspired but someone else to hunt you down and say hi! Hope you're all well. Can't promise to post much as with two children and a part time job life is busy but I'll try be around a bit more. I'm guessing the people posting on here are not really facebookers?!

clarabellski · 11/10/2017 13:57

Hi birdbrain and cudby glad to hear you're getting on OK

We've just got over a bout of chickenpox here. Yuck! I love DS but I don't do well with yucky skin rashes! And because he was ill he was wanting lots of cuddles!

cudbywestrangers · 20/10/2017 22:42

Good to see you bird

Chicken pox is miserable! Hope you got through it ok clara and all better now...

We seem to be in a real run of illnesses at the moment. In the last couple of months we've had 2 bouts of croup, 1 of diarrhoea and now some sort of virus with a cough and a fever. And every time there's the slightest hint of illness the sleep goes to pot Sad so we're all a bit tired (and viral) in our house.

But it's half term and we've all got the weekoff Grin heading down to visit my mum for a few days and hoping we can all recharge our batteries...

Happy weekend folks Wine

HandbagFan · 12/11/2017 14:14

Hello everyone! Hope everybody’s well and that these toddlers are behaving themselves. We’re getting an explosion of words - this morning we had yellow brick! He’s a funny little creature and is delightful as long as he’s been fed and has slept. If not, he’s a little gremlin!

As for me, I’m 11+3 with number two! Trying not to think about the chaos having two will bring. Scan is next week and have had my booking in and bloods taken. Feels less exciting this time round but I remember it didn’t feel real yet with DS so I’m sure things will be different once I can tell people and we know everything is ok.

What Christmas presents does anyone have planned for the little monsters? DS has so many grandparents uncles and aunts it seems redundant us buying him anything!

clarabellski · 13/11/2017 14:46

Wow! Congratulations handbag I hope you're feeling OK! My brother's wife is due their first child in a couple of weeks which is more than enough newborn for me!!!

It is official GAME OVER here as DS can climb out of his bloody cot!!!!! He flung himself out on Friday and nearly gave himself a head injury (much to my astonishment and despair). We converted the cot into toddler bed yesterday following 40 (thousand) repeats of this behaviour over the weekend. I made a trip to the hardware store at lunchtime today to buy locks for all of the upstairs rooms so he can't wander into any of them during the night (particularly the toilet and his new favourite toy, the loo roll). In fairness last night he stayed in his bed (we think!).

We bought DS a xylophone for christmas but aren't bothering with any more gifts this year as he is still so young and has no idea that it is christmas. And we're in the similar boat of having so many doting family buying him stuff!

clumsypots · 15/11/2017 21:38

Congratulations handbag! I can’t imagine having another one at the moment, you are brave!

Sorry I have been mia for a while life has been chaos. Had my first taste of children’s hospital with DD, can’t fault the staff but I wish I knew what was wrong with her.

Dh is making me do all the Christmas shopping this month as we are moving house in a couple of weeks so he doesn’t want me stressing...he hasn’t offered to do the shops for me though Hmm I’ve got as far as duplo for Ds and a couple of necessary bits from Santa but with his birthday so close I don’t want to inundate him with stuff that I have to find space for.

I hope everyone is ok and the terrible nearly twos hasn’t kicked in too much in your homes!

HandbagFan · 19/11/2017 17:40

Thank you both! We have days where we think we’ve made the right decision and days where it’s just scary! Dating scan tomorrow which I’m feeling anxious about - just seems too easy so far - but fingers crossed it’ll all be ok.

clumsypots · 22/11/2017 22:27

How did the dating scan go handbag?

HandbagFan · 24/11/2017 21:39

Thanks Clumsy, everything looked good. It was Monday and I’ve not had a call about the combined test results so I’m hoping that means it’s all good! Have told my boss and am slowly telling friends, family and colleagues the news. 20 week scan is the first week of January so that should whizz past!

clumsypots · 25/11/2017 08:53

Oh that’s good news! I’m so pleased for you.

We got the keys to our house yesterday so we are busy decorating getting everything ready for Christmas as the whole family is descending on us. Fortunately we were in a rented flat so we can decorate before we move in. I can finally get the kids rooms decorated properly for them Grin

HandbagFan · 25/11/2017 21:34

Fantastic news Clumsy! It’ll be a blur of activity but how awesome to get in four weeks before Christmas, and how lucky to have the overlap to get things straight. Hope you’re all happy in your new home.

birdbrain21 · 12/12/2017 07:45

Congratulations handbag hope your feeling good, it's very different being pregnant when you have a toddler already, and clumsy very exciting that you've moved. We wanted to move before the new year but not looking likely now.
Is everyone getting excited for Christmas?

HandbagFan · 06/01/2018 07:33

Hello! Determined this thread shouldn’t die!

Is everyone else dealing with very demanding / specific toddlers? This morning we got up and I’ve had to sit in in his favourite place on the sofa, with a blanket over him, get him milk and a banana (in a bowl) and out Bing on for him to watch.

Once he’d finished all that, I’ve had to sit on the floor about a foot away from the sofa so he can run around me and squeeze between my back and the sofa.

Just now I’ve had to tell him where the wipes are so he can clean the banana off his hands. I wasn’t allowed to touch the wipes myself.

He’s hilarious, but if I don’t do any of these things I’m in real trouble? Anyone else living with a dictator?!

clumsypots · 06/01/2018 17:25

Oh yes! Mini dictator perfectly sums day up. ‘Sit down! Come here!’ And then we get a ‘good boy’ if we do what we are told Grin

clarabellski · 23/01/2018 11:10

Probably too late but happy new year everyone!

How are you getting on handbag? You must have a little baby bump by now?

DS is also a mini napoleon. His way of making a sentence negative is to put 'no' at the beginning of it so everything is 'no mummy do it'. he wants to do everything himself. If you try to help him then it is screaming and shouting! He is hilarious though so I don't mind!

cudbywestrangers · 24/01/2018 19:36

Happy New year ladies! Lovely to see exciting news of babies and house moves. Hope the 20 week scan went well and did you find out whether it's a boy or girl?

All is we'll here but I totally identify with the dictator description. We get proper stamping feet throwing himself on the floor tantrums when we get it wrong Shock I can't quite believe he's so close to turning 2. Does anyone have any birthday plans for the dictators? We don't but will see if the family want to come for cake...

clumsypots · 24/01/2018 21:19

Hi everyone hope you are all good. How’s the bump handbag?

Ds is 2 on Friday! How the hell did that happen??? Currently making the paw patrol badge out of icing for his cake. We are just having gps round for tea and cake as had lots of bad news this month.
