We're into thread 2! Can't believe our babies have been here this long!

Evening all! Sounds like you guys are all going great guns on the weaning and tooth growing Smile
That nappy sounds grim haq!!!!
We make that lentil and veg casserole too. Haven't had it for ages so will have to make it again. Definitely needs more lentils than the recipe. I think we double them and add extra water if needed...

I've been trying to cook the same for all of us as much as possible and babaycud seems to be eating well. Proper meals that have been a hit include tofu jambalaya, chickpea and spinach cottage pie, risotto and cauliflower tagine with couscous. Pasta and various sauces seems to go down well too. I think I could drop the mid morning or midafternoon milk but for some reason holding off despite feeds becoming increasingly fussy...

In other news we now have pulling up to standing. Without warning I found him on his feet in the cot!!! Poor ds1 is getting a bit fed up of babycud trying to join in with whatever he's doing and I have no idea how to handle it! Ideas always gratefully received Smile

We've also been holiday planning and going to stay with my mum next week then a few days in Berlin next month. Very excited!!!!!

Hope all the babies sleep well.... better get some dinner sorted!

cudbywestrangers · 20/10/2016 20:21

Forgot about the nappy sizes! When we're in disposables, babycud is in size 4 and ds1 who is a fair sized 3.5 year old is still fine in size 5 so don't panic! Think their bottoms must grow more slowly than the rest of them...

clumsypots · 22/10/2016 08:40

Just had a mini heart attack went to fetch ds out of bed for the day and he wasn't in his cot although I could hear him crying. Looked round the cot and he had obviously managed to get out and was lying on the ginormous teddy next to it! Fortunately he's had a soft landing and doesn't seem to have hurt himself. I knew I shouldn't have asked dh to drop the cot last week and just done it myself.

HandbagFan · 22/10/2016 11:43

Clumsy - eek! Hope he was ok!

DS has developed a love of spag bol this week... unfortunately his bottom has not coped well with the tomato and he's had some horrific nappies! Keeping him off it for a few week then will reintroduce carefully!

Hoping we're nearing the end if this bout of teething for a while - he's back to drinking milk in proper quantities. Currently asleep on me after downing 200mls of expressed milk. I've dropped down to three pumps a day with a view to stopping in the next month or so. We go on holiday December 10th so I want to be done before then. Just need to tell myself it's ok to stop!

clumsypots · 23/10/2016 11:53

He's absolutely fine thanks handbag it would have been a different story if he fell the other side though.

It is ok to stop pumping you have done so well!!! Star

haquoi123 · 24/10/2016 14:43

clumsy, that's scary!! What a good use of a teddy, I might have one specifically for that. Glad he is alright. They are clever pumpkins at the moment, to our detriment. I'm dreading the crawling and walking stages, our house is not ready/downright dangerous for that. Need to do some baby proofing asap.

handbag THAT NAPPY! Shock and how many teeth has he got now? ds has a thing for anything slightly spicy, so garamasala, or a tiny bit of chilling. I've been experimenting with flavouring did without salt or stock cubes (read: shoving anything interesting looking in the pot and hoping for the best. If all fails, cheese adds taste at least!)

cud & handbag Thanks for the nappy sizing advice, I had a bit of a shock when I realised it was the biggest size naty do. I always had disposables as a back up plan when he gets too big for the reusables, but I'm not sure now! The size 4s are supposed to go up to 33lbs but he's 26lbs and we can't do them up around his waist Confused

Got a sick baby here. Fever, coughing, vomit, diarrhoea. Dr's checked him over and he should be fine, but it was a fun night. Luckily DH is in half term so he took him while I had a sleep on the sofa last night. Poor baby. We bumped into our neighbours at the Dr's, said 'oh he's ill' and they went 'yeah, we heard!!' whoops!

OP posts:
clarabellski · 25/10/2016 22:19

Haq we use moltex during the day and they go up to size 6 if you are looking for a larger sized biodegradable nappy. Didn't realise naty stopped at size 5...we are using size 5 naty at night as so far it's the only brand not to cause leaks for us Confused

Hope your little one gets better soon.

haquoi123 · 26/10/2016 17:26

clara I'd not heard of moltex, I'll look it up, thanks. I haven't specific looked for larger Naty, but I haven't seen any about online or in the shops, it always seems to go up to size 5.brilliant nappies though. The only thing stopping DH and I from using them full time is that we've spent so much money on reusables. I've had to not have any in the house as it's so much easier it's too tempting, but we've got a pack at my mum's.

haquoi123 · 26/10/2016 17:29

Ds is on antibiotics now (although the first dose so far came back up straight away...), They said to see how it goes on Monday, but we had an awful night and morning - he was starting to struggle with his breathing and coughing, so the Dr today said to nip it in the bud.

OP posts:
clarabellski · 26/10/2016 20:56

We get ours from ethical superstore online. They often have deals so worth waiting then stocking up. Our cupboards are full of nappies!!

Poor lamb....

haquoi123 · 28/10/2016 23:56

Thanks clara, looks like a good website! Bubs s doing much better now. We hhad a tript o A&E on Wed aas we wwere cconcerned about hhis breathing, but he perked up as ssoon as well gt there. Argh, phi e is crashing!

New car seat excitement this week...tinged with sadness that he's no longer using the one we bought him home from hospital in! Sob!

happymummyy · 04/11/2016 22:29

Hi ladies,
Would it be ok if I joined you? New to mumsnet (but have relied soooo much on threads that have come up on google!) and my baby boy was born 25/2/16. Sorry to gate crash- hope it's ok :-)

clumsypots · 04/11/2016 22:53

Hi happy Brew

haq is your little one better now? A&e must have been scary!

handbag they are all growing up now, I don't like it! I realised today that ds has been outside my womb longer than he was in it.

We are in the middle of teething hell at the moment, projectile vomiting, full of cold, sore bum and biting my nipples off. I think he is cutting 4 teeth at once poor little mite.

cudbywestrangers · 05/11/2016 10:27

Hello and welcome happy Smile
Sounds really tough clumsy and hope all settles down soon...
Eek for new car seat handbag we'll have to do the same soon Confused
Hope ds is better now haq sounds scary!

Feel like I haven't been on here in ages, been a bit hectic here! Babycud now has 4 teeth is a super fast crawler and is obsessed with pulling up on everything. There is a war going on between the boys as babycud just wants to chase ds1 around and it's not going down well. Have bought a jumperoo from eBay for some respite!

We went to my mum's for a few days over half term which was great. Did 3 day trips into London which was good fun! Spent 2 days doing good am open top bus tour and also boat trip. Did go to the science museum but it was rammed. Was good to prove to ourselves that we can do stuff though and was good practice for our trip to Berlin next week.

Not much else to report. I've had a nasty virus this week so have been feeling pretty sorry for myself. Fortunately seem to avoided passing it on... off to a friends this afternoon for quiet fireworks get together but otherwise not too much planned this weekend!

Have fun everyone!

CarrotPuff · 09/11/2016 13:19

Oops, fell off the thread again!

Welcome happy! The more the merrier!

Glad to hear babyhaq is ok. 26lbs though, wow! My nearly 3yo is 27lbs (although he is quite small and skinny).

Cud that's interesting, we actually packed away our jumperoo as DD has lost interest in it since she started learning to crawl. Not crawling yet, she keep moving backwards and gets very frustrated. She does move a lot around the room for a non crawling baby!

She's full of snot and last night was crap, so I'm shattered. DS is bouncing off the walls though...

clarabellski · 12/11/2016 10:12

Hi everyone, welcome happy.

Time is flying by here, back to work at start of december, eek!

We went from one tooth (which came in nearly three months ago) to four teeth in space of a day last week!

Days are full on now that ds is mobile. There's no let up as he is not much of a napper. Looking forward to going back to work for the rest!!! Wink I use the travelcot as a place to trap him when I need to get something done, but that only works in short bursts as he shouts the house down and tries to climb out!

haquoi123 · 17/11/2016 22:40

We're another one for the new car seat handbag, just installed it today. Baby's growing up!

This 9 months sleep regression and cluster feeling is doing my nut in! Argh!!! I treated myself to some new clothes in the sale last night as he wouldn't sleep anywhere but in my arms. At one point I just curled him into me and went to sleep with him still in my arms. Not ideal, but sleeeep!

He's coming down with yet another cold, after recovering from a stomach bug last week that saw us at the out of hours worrying about dehydration. Gah, non stop! A happy lad otherwise though, although carrot he's now lost weight so I'm intrigued to see what he weighs now!

Welcome happy! How are you finding things so far?

clara, I would say back to work already but j keep forgetting that I am technically back at work as well! Are you going back full time?

How's the jumperoo working, cud? Any respite?

OP posts:
clumsypots · 18/11/2016 18:09

Sorry I keep falling off the thread, life is too busy and complicated!

I hope baby is betting better haq.

I think ds would love a jumperoo are they expensive cud?

We have had spots galore this week im blaming nursery for saying wear spots on Monday!

I'm treating myself to a pampering weekend and going to have a drastic hair cut and colour tomorrow Grin

CarrotPuff · 19/11/2016 13:12

Sorry to hear about poorly babies. DD is full of cold too, and is teething. Last night was ok, but the two before that were hell. She wouldn't sleep unless she was held Hmm

She's cut her 3rd tooth, but not the top central one but the one next to it (lateral incisor?). So it looks like I've got a baby vampire Grin

clumsypots · 19/11/2016 13:30

carrot that's where ds tooth has come through too...it's very odd!

cudbywestrangers · 19/11/2016 16:12

Hey all
Sorry to hear about all the poorly babies, hope they're on the mend... hope you're enjoying your pampering clumsy

we haven't swapped the car seats yet. Babycud will get ds1's maxi cosi pearl when he needs to move up and we'll buy the next one up for ds1. Although babycud is around 23lb he does seem to have about an inch of growing room in the pebble so might have a look in the sales...

We got our jumperoo off ebay for £18 so not too expensive and doesn't matter if not used for long!!! Babycud likes it and it gives ds1 a break from being followed around. But ds1 did tip it over a couple of weeks ago. With baby in it Sad

We've have just got back from a few days in Berlin. City breaks are quite different (and hard work) with kids in tow. Still good but different! We stayed in an apartment which worked well and babycud was on best behaviour despite basically being bunged in a backpack and ignored quite a lot!!! Ready for a really long sleep tonight after an early flight this morning... what are the chances??? Dh has gone to a gig in Manchester so flying solo until tomorrow afternoon

HandbagFan · 23/11/2016 21:50

Hi everyone, hope all's going well!

Cudby travelling with babies scares me! I used to travel every other week in my job, but haven't been anywhere with DS. We're on holiday in three weeks though so fingers crossed! Any tips?

Carrot we had that too, with teething and a cold running into each other. Hope things are better now and you're both getting more sleep!

Clumsy how did the pampering go? How dramatic was the hairstyle?

Haquoi also hope baby is feeling better now! I also worry about dehydration but he never seems to really suffer. Once DS was over his last cold it was such a relief to have him finishing feeds and giving me some heavy nappies!

Happy mummy hope you're still, with us and welcome to the group! How are things going?

As for me, I've been into work to have my conversation about how and when I'm returning - luckily my proposal has been accepted which is great news and a massive relief. I'm going back in the middle of March so my focus is now on enjoying every day left of my leave!

DS is still not crawling yet, but has started to push himself backwards, which I'm told is a good sign. No standing eaither, but he has started locking his legs when I try to sit him down. Things are changing again!
