Yup havent all 20, she had last 2 molars sprouting, checked today and they are fully out now. To be honest she has been at it constantly since June last year when her first one appeared.

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 14/08/2016 19:35

I think we have all 20 now too will have to check on back molars :)

porsmork · 14/08/2016 19:57

Congrats moggle!

Hope you enjoyed the Isle of Wight? My mum and dad live just opposite it on the mainland. Haven't, wonder if you are close?!

Back from our camping trip. First night was fine, Ds went to be at 9, and was up at 6.30. Second night was awful. He woke at 1, and cried and cried, I held him and cuddled him and he seemed dozy, but then would get upset as soon as I moved, so dh took him for a walk. Each time he wen t near the tent, Ds kicked off again, so we bundled him into the car at 2.30 and dh took him home. We're both exhausted, and I'm being sick. Don't know if it's a bug or what.
Still it, was lovely to see him running about with all,his little friends, and enjoying the outside so much.

Annarose2014 · 15/08/2016 15:25

Oh posmork what a shit night. Massive hugs, having to drive home in the middle of the night. Did he sleep in the car? How was he the next day?

moggle · 16/08/2016 09:32

porsmork that sounds so utterly rubbish, hope you are feeling better now? I like camping in theory but only when the weather's good. I think if you have a big tent with plenty of communal space it probably works better in the rain...

thanks for the congratulations! Can't quite believe we've been so lucky again. I'm feeling fine although a bit tired and by the end of the day I feel like I am already carting round a weight in my belly although that's ridiculous! Never really had morning sickness last time so hoping that repeats this time, along with only having to wash my hair once a week instead of every other day.

DD is being super at the moment, such a happy soul, so I'm feeling very soppy about having another one rather than Shit how will we cope (I'm sure that'll come soon enough though!!). She's suddenly being able to concentrate on things for much longer than previously. Her favourite thing for us to do at the mo is lie down on the floor with paper and pens and she just fires requests at me to draw things: "Nana! Daddy! Babbit! Meow meow! Woof woof! Ow! (owl) Ow! (Flower) Ow! (House)..." I love it but she hasn't realised that DH can't draw for toffee and she gets quite cross when he attempts to join in!
We've just ditched the high chair for a stokke tripp trapp (which I got at a charity shop for £10!). She seems to love having a big chair and she can get up (and nearly down) by herself. She isn't a great eater though so I'm not sure whether she'll just get down from the table rather than try food. But I'm glad to get the annoying antilop legs out of my kitchen.

Question - is anyone able to bribe their toddler yet?! I'm counting down the days with DD and food! There are so many foods that I know she will like but she refuses to try them. Or things she eats one day but not the next. Can't wait until I can cajole her a bit more. It can't be that much longer, surely! She seems to understand "first X, then Y". Eg when she needs a nappy change but she wants to read a book, if I say, first nappy, then book, then she will eventually go sit on the changing mat. So I'm hoping it isn't long!

Annarose2014 · 16/08/2016 10:09

No bribery possible here yet - he'd just look at me nonplussed.

His diet is atrocious - I don't want to think about it. At least we don't give him sugary snacks/juice so he's still slim but his dinner.......ugh. it's getting blander by the day.

Btw, the book Toddler Taming is great. Basically we're all doing fine, lol. Very comforting! Lots of common sense advice.

moggle · 16/08/2016 11:04

Thanks maybe I'll get that book - it is probably a good time to read it when we're in a good phase with her rather than when I'm tearing my hair out.
Yes food is a pain. the only thing I'm 'winning' on is she still only drinks water and still loves plain yoghurt! (and yes I know it shouldn't be viewed as a battle!). She LOVES macaroni cheese when I make it but won't eat it out of the house. Loves ketchup (it's the only way we get her to try some things by giving her a little "dip dip" with it...) but refused tinned tomato soup (come on DD it's almost the same!). Still won't eat any tomato based sauce. Basically she eats fishfingers, chicken nuggets, sometimes plain chicken, plain pasta, sweetcorn, occasionally peas, loads of cheese, no bread, but some crackers are accepted. Breakfast is usually fine. And a recent win was getting her to eat plain scrambled or omelette type egg (with ketchup, obvs!).

ladydolly · 16/08/2016 11:27

We're winning on food, she eats pretty much anything so we just give her whatever we're eating. Especially good now she has her own set of mini metal cutlery. Cream cheese is our ketchup. If in doubt, smear a load of cream cheese on it.

We are massively losing on TV. It's on all the time and she loves it. DH will even put it on before she asks. I just don't know what to do to reduce it. I console myself that she's outside and tv free all day everyday including weekends.

happypotamus · 16/08/2016 16:07

Congratulations haven't and moggle

I've been too tired/ sleep-deprived or busy at work to post anything for a while (a while meaning a couple of days as I'm usually on here all the time!!)

We are winning on food, as she still eats everything. Last night while I was cooking dinner she climbed on to a dining chair, so I let her sit on a grown-up chair to eat. She could only just reach, and I don't intend for her sit there everyday, but she did sit surprisingly nicely and sensibly.

We are losing on drinking. It is boiling hot and she won't drink anything. She won't drink out of a sippy cup unless we take the lid off, but mostly she refuses that anyway and I only let her if she is sat at the table. She was wanting to drink out of DD1's sports bottle type bottles so I got some more of them but now she won't use them anymore. On Friday we went on a picnic, and she wouldn't drink her drinks or my water (usually she wants if if it belongs to someone else). She wanted orange juice from a carton, and, in the end, I let her because I was desperate that she drank something in that heat. Usually only water and milk are available. Then she is waking up in the middle of the night thirsty (or at least I assume she is thirsty rather than just feeding for hours to be annoying)

I have no idea how many teeth she has Blush but not all of them unfortunately.

Annarose2014 · 16/08/2016 17:27

We are definitely losing on TV too ladydolly.

At least now with crèche it's limited to breakfast and tea but that's still a hell of a lot of Ben and Holly. But like you I rationalise it that hes outside more than inside.

My nephew has a TV in his bedroom and usually falls asleep to a DVD. I figure as long as we don't go down that road......

happy try those Ballygowan or similar water bottles in the kiddie size. My MIL buys multipacks of them for herself and when DS is in her house he becomes obsessed with them and will drink out of nothing else.

I guess you can reuse them if she takes to them!

Oh and straws might work at this stage. Not sure though as haven't tried them myself but my Toddler books said that at 18 months kids can learn how to suck on straws.

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 16/08/2016 19:02

Ds2 drinks out of a straw actually for a bottle refuser the buvgger drinks out of anything now.

haventgotaclue1 · 16/08/2016 19:47

moggle we're trying to reward bribe DD with a sticker chart for brushing her teeth. Most of the time it's a nightmare: screaming, twisting, biting down on the tooth brush. The only bonus of the screaming is that her mouth is open Hmm. So we're trying "if you do good teeth brushing, you can choose a sticker". GP sent over some great animal stickers and she loves choosing one and sticking it on a piece of card I decorated, but TBH, I don't think she's made the connection between the 2 yet. We'll keep trying!

We're doing pretty well on food and drink here (at the moment!) - we did go through a week of full-on screaming / tantrum at dinner time when she'd only eat if we (I) fed her, but now she seems happy doing it herself again. Drinking is as normal (for her) too - she only has water, although is very keen on trying out of our glasses rather than her beaker which has led to some spectacular spillages Grin

I bought her a new swimming costume yesterday (aged 3-4!!! - admittedly it's a little big Blush) which she loves - M&S, £6 and covered in fish. When DH got home we tried it on her and I said "turn round so Daddy can see the front and back" and she did this real model pose, sticking out her hip and everything Grin - neither of us could stop laughing Grin

happypotamus · 17/08/2016 09:55

Actually she did drink with a straw in A&E last week when I trying to get her to drink so she would wee for the urine sample (that was fun, trying to get an overtired, miserable toddler to wee into a cardboard container on demand at 4am!!). DD1 had one of those kids' drinks bottles with a straw in the lid when she was 2ish. Maybe I'll try and find one of those next, but I don't want to spend lots of money on things that will be refused after one try.

Strawberryfield12 · 17/08/2016 10:26

DD drinks with straw, no idea where she learnt it, probably nursery. One day we thought we would try a straw and she just did it as if she has used straw all her life. TBH she drinks like a horse, anything from all kind of cups, bottles, anything. At home we are definitely loosing on food, it's fish fingers, cheese sticks, Cheerios, apple, banana and biscuits. We now have it have any chocolate snacks in secret or she demands them and wouldn't be distracted with anything until she gets one. Nursery says she eats well and all sorts, so they are lifesavers not only food wise but keeping her away from YouTube for most of the day.

Toddler taming is coming today. The fact there is no kindle version might mean it just gets stored on the shelf instead of reading it. The time I get chance to read is on train, but my bag is already crammed with laptop, lunch etc., very unlikely I will be able to squeeze anything else there.

HalfStar · 17/08/2016 13:49

hi everyone, been a while. Huge congrats to moggle and haven't. Starting it all again! brilliant news for you both.

We've had a busy summer here but all is fairly well at the mo. Hm, as to what we are winning/losing on...

Drinking is great, she drinks loads of water and from anything. She had been getting milk in a bottle before bed and I wondered would it be hard to get it off her but she seems to have just transitioned easily to a beaker with a spout.

Eating is pretty good. Seems to eat everything at nursery. Eats decently for me at home. I am lax about a lot of things but not food so I'm happy that she'll eat an acceptable range of healthy food. Still not very good on raw vegetables, but I noticed that after spending a lot of time with little friends and cousins that she can be peer-pressured into chewing a bit of carrot or cucumber. (The trick seems to be not paying any attention and pretending you don't care what she eats.)

Sleeping - had gone to shit again for a while. A mix of visitors and also teething we think. She ended up in our bed most nights for about two weeks. She seems to be getting about 8 teeth at once and definitely pissed off by the whole thing. She's slept through til morning the last few nights in her own cot (yay!) but getting her to go to sleep in the first place has been tricky, lots of going in and out. Seems to be a bit of a needy phase.

Gadgets/TV: She got a go on an iPad when we had friends staying and loved it so much. But in general we haven't really let her play that much on screens. Not sure why, as her big sister used to a bit more at that age. I think it's because she's not overly bothered yet and also her sister can help entertain her.

Toilet training: Totally not on the radar!

How are all the pregnant ladies feeling today? Does anyone on the thread have 3+ DC or are we all 1 and 2 here?

HalfStar · 17/08/2016 13:54

Oh and to happy - my DC#1 is a bit of a drinks refuser so I feel your pain. It's not that she dislikes water it's just she does not drink enough of it. Would definitely not feel bad about giving your dd orange juice!

MrsAukerman · 17/08/2016 14:27

hello all.

Back home properly and DS who slept like a log at PILs now has woken every night since we got home. Aggghhhh.

Winning at drinking and eating for the most part. Has used strawcup from about 10m.
This one. www.amazon.co.uk/Munchkin-Pack-Flip-Straw-Cups/dp/B0083TJJYI/ref=sr_1_1_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1471440156&sr=8-1&keywords=Munchkin+straw+flip

Have also tried him with a carton of orange juice with plastic straw recently and he was fine.
Naps good still at 80-120 mins.

Losing on screentime and general whininess!
Yesterday morning as soon as he came in our room he saw my phone and grinned and said 'train'!
We quite often entertain him with train videos on YouTube while we have our 1st tea.
my phone is broken so books this morning instead. Much better.

Could any of the nurses help? Dc1 has a very sore throat and now an itchy seeming rash on torso. Is this viral? Thoughts?

Annarose2014 · 17/08/2016 15:58

Take a glass and see if the rash disappears if you roll it over first anyway. If it doesn't, straight into A&E as that's a sign of meningitis.

But if it does it may be (now don't freak) scarlet fever which is a combo of rash + strep throat. Cured by antibiotics so a GP visit would have to be in order.

HalfStar · 17/08/2016 17:31

Anna I'm also seriously wondering about SF. Confused have a gp appointment in the morning, I'll let you know...

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 17/08/2016 18:48

SF is doing the rounds in many nurseries at the moment. Hope better soon

porsmork · 17/08/2016 20:20

Hope not SF, thinking of you, Half.

Feeling much better now thanks. Loved camping, and was so pleased the weather was kind to us. And we were only 15 minutes drive from home, so it was't too hard for dh to take him back! My bug is gone, think it might be a bit stress induced as I've been quite down and lonely recently.

Winning on potty training (2 days in training pants and only 2 accidents). He was taking his Playmobil characters to the toilet in the caravan we have, and getting them to 'wee wee', so he's very keen! Also winning on general niceness and good behaviour, tantrums are rare and if he has any grumbles they only last a couple of seconds.

losing on food. If it doesn't have beans in it, he won't eat it.... Also caving in to crackers and raisins more than I should.

HalfStar · 18/08/2016 10:56

SF confirmed.

sigh

Strawberryfield12 · 18/08/2016 15:48

Oh Halfstar.... but at least it's not a meningitis... Hope she gets well soon Flowers

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 20/08/2016 18:28
