OMG Congrats! I'm in the 40+ category too so don't worry! So exciting!

I was kinda planning on mainly eating shite, lol. I've discovered 2nd pregnancies are a lot less prepared than 1st ones! But will definitely have a look at that pot on Amazon, thanks. Flowers

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 09/08/2016 21:35

Congrats haven't :)

We batch cooked loads both times and used more with ds1 than ds2 don't know why I generally like to cook and even a roast dinner isn't much hassle bung it in oven.

porsmork · 09/08/2016 21:55

Congratulations Haven't, that's lovely news! How are you feeling?

Do you guys eat main meals with little ones? I usually give him tea, then dh and I eat about 8/8.30 when he's home from work.

Annarose2014 · 09/08/2016 22:39

We do, but we're very much in the minority. DH is always home by 5, and I'm either on a long shift or at home all day.

But our city friends eat horrendously late because of long commutes. I'd be starving! Grin

Strawberryfield12 · 09/08/2016 23:08

On weekdays DD is mainly snacking in the evening because she wolfs down everything they give her in the nursery. Unless the nursery people tell she didn't eat much on a particular day, it would mainly be cheese sticks, fish fingers, fruit, yogurt, biscuits and bits she decides to pick from our plates (whole length spaghetti and noodles are favourite). Helps with our commutes etc. On weekends we give her the same food at the same time as we eat.

happypotamus · 10/08/2016 08:19

DD didn't go to sleep until nearly 10pm last night. It was a late finish at work so I got home just after that. She then woke up for a couple of hours just after I went to bed and woke up at 3ish and wouldn't go back to sleep until after 6am. I have had slightly more than 2hrs sleep. Too tired to make a decision at 7.20am when the alarm went off, I asked DH if it was reasonable to wake her up and send her to nursery and he decided that wasn't fair on her or the nursery staff so she is still asleep now. There is a gift consisting of lots of small things that I need to browse to choose that I must have sorted for tomorrow, so now I will have to take both DDs to browse shops on so little sleep. Since waking up on Saturday morning I have had less than 20hrs sleep. She didn't appear to be ill, just coughing a bit, so I've no idea what her problem is.

MrsAukerman · 10/08/2016 09:50

Congratulations haven't!
We're at our festival now and getting regular updates with pictures from in-laws. It looks like he's having a blast. He's also sleeping better there than at home. Bastard.

Pissing rain here in Slovenia but was scorching yesterday so hopefully it won't last all week.

haventgotaclue1 · 10/08/2016 19:31

Thanks everyone Smile. "Holy whiskers" is about right strawberry! Happened much faster than either DH or I had anticipated (i.e. 1st attempt vs almost a year for DD)... So far, feeling pretty good - had a couple of days of feeling absolutely shattered (but initially put that down to DD's 5-6 times of waking during the night) and sometimes feel a tiny bit queasy, but nothing drastic - touch wood it stays that way.

Porsmork we have our evening meal with DD - DH gets home by 5.30 and because I like to be organised in control I'll generally have a batch-cooked meal ready. She'll have a decent portion of whatever we're having + pudding of either yoghurt or fruit.

When I picked her up from nursery today I was told "she's definitely ready to move to Toddlers" (a different room) - apparently when she was told off by one of the nursery workers, she just laughed at her...Blush

ladydolly · 12/08/2016 18:03

I keep dropping off the thread as well!

Congrats haven't!! I'm jealous of you preggos, I'm broody and worried I'm getting old but have another year before we'll try.

We eat at 5.30/6 all together, dd eats the same as us but its very hit and miss though but I don't worry since her packed lunch is bigger than mine! We also pushed her bedtime back by 30 mins to 7.30 and it seems to have brought her nap back into line. She does keep waking at night though, just once, asks for milk and when I say 'no its still night time' she says 'cuggle?' (Which is totally irresistable) so we have a cuddle for 2 mins then she says 'nightnight' and goes back in her cot and off to sleep. So I think she just thinks its morning and when I tell its not she's cool with that!

Feet have grown neeeeearly out of her sandals but I'm holding on for her winter shoes. Until then its alot of croc wearing!

New job going well but so busy no time for daytime mumsnet :(

moggle · 12/08/2016 23:52

Congrats havent!!!
I got a BFP this morning too after our frozen cycle!! Well actually on weds afternoon cos I was convinced my period had started so drove to the nearest shop (we're on holiday) and bought tampons and a test just to be sure and then it was only bloody positive :-D early days but have a scan at the clinic in a couple of weeks to make sure things are progressing and it's in the right place. Happy days :-)

We've had a great week on holiday - we're in the Isle of Wight- sun has shone all week every day and it's been just fab- beach, farms, lazing about by the pool and seeing dozens of my aunts uncles cousins and their kids. DD has had an absolute ball and learned so many new names... I don't know what she's going to do when we get home and it's just us three again!

ladydolly · 13/08/2016 06:06

Congrats moggle! That's brilliant news!!

Annarose2014 · 13/08/2016 08:07

Amazing news moggle! Fingers and toes crossed!

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 13/08/2016 14:33

Congrats moggle

haventgotaclue1 · 13/08/2016 19:44

Woo hoo! Congratulations moggle Grin. You're on holiday very close to where we are: just the other side of the Solent.

Also had an early scan today: everything's as expected given the early stage I'm at - everything's in the right place and you could clearly see the heart beating Grin. Still keeping everything crossed though.

It's odd cos (at the moment) I don't feel as all-consumed by this as I did first time round nor as excited (she says whispering)....maybe it's cos DD is now taking up all our time and she's getting super adventurous now: climbing onto the kitchen table, dining room table, kitchen work surfaces....you name it, she'll try and climb it Hmm

Strawberryfield12 · 14/08/2016 08:56

Congratulations moggle! It's amazing news all the new babies on their way! Few more and I will end up changing my mind about staying at Nr1 Grin

We have moved DD into her big bed this week. She has been recently waking up often because she is like tornado in the sleep and was getting stuck every time trying to turn 360 degrees. We had a cot bed which can later turned into double bed, so we bought the mattress and made the new bed and finally moved her out of our bedroom into hers. There hasn't been awful lot of improvement with wake-ups, though, quite the opposite and now we have to go into her room every time.

The new obsession at the moment are the slides, the cool thing being to stand up on the top of the slide, check if there is an audience and then start to show the disco moves. Not exactly the relaxing thing to see for me, but I guess, it's good for her balance if she doesn't break her neck, it is.

haventgotaclue1 · 14/08/2016 09:16

"check if there is an audience" Grin Grin Grin - love it!!!!!

Oh, and strawberry, I was definitely convinced it was going to be "just the one"......Wink

Annarose2014 · 14/08/2016 09:40

Wow, she was in your room all this time? Big change!

Hopefully you'll find the wake ups decrease though as I found you become more abrupt when they're in a different room. You just want to get out as quickly as possible! Are you still feeding her during the night?

Thankfully DS doesn't seem to mind being horizontal across the cot bed so we don't have to think about big beds yet. And he's not a climber like other little ones here, so hasn't tried his escapology yet.

Thankfully DSs sleep has steadied again after a hellish few weeks post his entrance to crèche/never-ending viruses. His nose is still running like a tap constantly but he seems oblivious nowadays.

Only thing we're a little concerned about is his nighttime cough. Nothing during the day but as soon as he lies down he gets a dreadful coughing fit for half an hour. This has been going on about 3 weeks. Anyone any experience? How long can it go on for? I dont think it's asthma or anything, I do think it's post-virus. But it's unnerving.

annatha · 14/08/2016 09:53

Congratulations haven't and moggle!!!

anna my main tip would be to totally lower your expectations when your second one arrives. CBeebies was a regular feature, easy meals I knew DD would eat, baths when they absolutely needed them, just focus on the basics as there's enough going on. Also I found that baby proofing the living room and dd's bedroom meant that I had a place both upstairs and downstairs where I could safely leave her when I put DS down to sleep. I was breastfeeding so could be gone a while so it was a lifesaver. Now he's bigger I'm trying to sort of make up for lost time by playing with both of them and letting DD do things like painting and exploring the garden, but I wouldn't have been able to set up messy things a few months ago. Saying all this DS is days away from crawling so I'll have to find a way to contain him quite soon!

Annarose2014 · 14/08/2016 09:55

haven't I have found this pregnancy entirely different. Last time I was OBSESSED. This time it was an irritation if anything as pregnancy + toddler don't mix.

Every time a pregnancy symptom floors you completely and makes you sit down and take a few deep breaths before you puke you find yourself thinking "I don't fucking have time for this! He's climbing the walls and we need to go to the playground!".

So yeah....last time it was a time full of wonder. This time it has been a pain in the arse! Grin

annatha · 14/08/2016 09:57

Reading that back it sounds really negative! What I meant was, it's ok to not be a perfect Pinterest parent, your DS will have a little lifelong friend soon, he won't mind the first few months after the new baby arrives being a bit more ad lib.

Annarose2014 · 14/08/2016 10:01

Thanks annatha. We've already cut down on anything we can cos I'm so big and worn out that I can barely do anything with him. Baths are currently about twice a week and I do a lot of "supervising" from a chair, breathing heavily. Thank God he can play by himself as long as he has eleventy million cars.

We have set up a nursing chair + travel cot downstairs in a previously unused reception room (oooh, get us!) So we're hoping that will give me some privacy whilst he rampages around the rest of the downstairs.

MrsAukerman · 14/08/2016 12:04

Back in England but still at PILs. DS was in bed for 9 last night (around an hour later than at home) and at 9 this morning was still asleep! We went in his room and he was lying down cuddling his dolly but awake. Very odd and he'd never do that at home. Ever since he's been really whingy! I think he's only just realised we'd abandoned him for the best part of a week!

Anna yes, she has been in our bedroom up to now, were waiting for her to start to sleep through before we move her, but never happened. I hope moving makes the wonder because so far nothing has made her sleep through. And she still has some milk during the night. It's 2 minutes of quick drink and turning on side to carry on sleeping versus 2 hours of ordeal without giving milk. So it's option 1 for us, especially when have to catch 7am train to London following morning... Apart from "cry it out" we have tried all sorts/everything without too much success. We are now trying to teach her where we leave a bottle with milk for the night so that she can pick it herself instead of calling for us. Will see...

Oh yeah, DD has all 20 teeth out now. So if you suddenly see me moaning about teething it's either my account has been hacked or I have lost the plot.

haventgotaclue1 · 14/08/2016 14:25

Wow strawberry Shock - all 20 ?!?! We've still got 8 more to go: all 4 incisors and the 4 back molars.... can't wait for that lot to turn up Hmm
