Sounds like a great day was had by all eastmids Grin, although must be honest, the sound of that chocolate cake isn't doing my nauseous feeling any good at all Sad.

Moggle how are you doing? I'm finding this one a bit different from the 1st - not being sick, but feeling pretty queasy most of the day. Ho, hum, am hoping it will pass very quickly!

moggle · 20/08/2016 20:14

Hmm unfortunately I've been bleeding fairly heavily since midday yesterday so sadly think this was not meant to be :-( not feeling too down about it although had a good cry yesterday with DH. I have a scan on the 30th but feeling quite sure it's over. Not been too painful thankfully. DD being a darling at the moment so makes it easier. That and Phish Food. Just annoyed that we will have to shell out another £1500 to try again!!

MrsAukerman · 20/08/2016 22:20

Aw. Sorry to hear that moggle

Oh moggle , REALLY sorry to hear that Flowers

porsmork · 22/08/2016 07:29

Sorry to hear that moggle. Thinking of you. X

Annarose2014 · 22/08/2016 09:22

Gutted for you moggle. Flowers

moggle · 22/08/2016 11:53

Thanks all xxx much appreciated. We haven't told anyone in real life (didn't want people knowing we were def trying for another) so cyber sympathy is really nice.

In other news. Why do DDs naps always go wrong on the days where we have somewhere to be at a specific time... A specific time usually chosen by me to fit around her naps. Argh!! So many Monday afternoons I spend sitting in a car park while she gets at least a little sleep and our friends do fun stuff nearby :-( she's got a cold today so I can't really force her through the day without any sleep. Argh again.

Strawberryfield12 · 22/08/2016 13:01

So sorry to hear moggle, life can be a bitch... don't loose the spirit, even if it takes more time and money, you will eventually be where you want to.

DD also has got a cold, which make her sneeze a lot in the morning. The new thing - every time she sneezes she says "bless you!" and expects us to say it as well. The time I ignored her sneeze, she looked in my face very fixed and made a point to repeat "bless you!". So I am now very careful with good manners.

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 22/08/2016 21:18

Oh moggle sorry to hear that

Ds2 has been unwell up for 2hrs last night high temp took both paracetamol and ibuprofen to get it down and has suffered all day not really eaten and had that poorly smell about him.

HalfStar · 23/08/2016 12:22

moggle - so sorry. Hope you're taking it easy. How are things now?

east how is DS?

DD2 has a cold but has not developed SF...am keeping everything crossed but we might just be safe at this stage.

Can we have a check in about how much the littlies are talking at the minute? A friend asked at the weekend if it was normal DD2 wasn't saying much and I was like yeah pretty sure it is...and then of course I started wondering - well, is it?!

She's got plenty (though not loads ) of single words, a few tried and tested 2-word sentences ('MY mamma; NO MY; 'Where Dadda' etc) and is just starting a few 3-word sentences: 'Mamma tea Dadda' (make mamma tea - she's a good'un Wink.

Our first was having fully fledged conversations by this age and we seem to be surrounded by kids who are the same, but DH and I are pretty sure that DD2 is pretty normal?

MrsAukerman · 23/08/2016 12:42

DS is probably behind that speech-wise. Loads of words but very few phrases.
Favourites are all 1 syllable and long words get cut down to 1 syllable normally. I hardly spoke til i was 3 so i'm not worried. His hearing is definitely fine.

OP posts:
moggle · 23/08/2016 13:13

Sounds pretty normal / average to me Half - DD is saying plenty of single words now (though most only intelligible to me, DH, and our parents), her only two word phrase is "bye-bye Daddy" "bye-bye babbit" etc. Her pretty advanced little friend of the same age is coming out with quite a few three word sentences now (which was making us feel like DD was behind but she's really not). And another kid the same age is only just getting past mama and dada.
I'll be pleased when her pronounciation gets better- most of her words are missing the first and last consonants so are essentially just vowel sounds! "Ah" can be hat, hand, cat... etc! Then some words have random consonants added... her cousin Aoife (Ee-fa) is "Beeper". Cute as. My SIL is getting hacked off though as we are all starting to call her Beeper. Oops!

Feeling ok. Trying to decide whether to get a private blood test done to confirm HCG levels are dropping, but it seems a massive faff to do.

Annarose2014 · 23/08/2016 13:29

moggle would it be worth ringing up the unit and seeing if they can squeeze in an earlier scan? Know what you mean about the bloods. By the time they come back it'll be the 30th anyway, probably.

Well we have ZERO word combining so don't worry! He has much less speech than the other kids in his age in crèche. The other day when we arrived a kid called Ryan shouted "Oh look who it is!' And they were counting and then he proceeded to count to 10. Loudly. Ryan is only about 3 months older, so I was like FFS stop showing off Ryan! Envy

Grin

He has about 10/12 words but is still very obstinate about words he really should be able to say. He still won't attempt addressing me as anything (though recently DH has become "Addy") and he won't attempt simple words like "ball" which is baffling. We say "What's that?" and the little devil just smiles knowingly.

So slow progress indeed. But he understands a huge amount these days so I'm not concerned really.

Annarose2014 · 23/08/2016 13:33

Oh and don't get me started on the Facebook boasting of my cousin about her boy who's only 8 weeks older. Apparently he should be on a debate team he's such a dazzling conversationalist!

Ugh.

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 23/08/2016 13:58

Half same again last night took both paracetamol at 2am and ibuprofen at 1am to get temp down dosed up again at 7am on paracetamol and 8.30am ibuprofen and sent to nursery no phone call yet but anytime soon expecting one when drugs wear off.

Speech wise we havbe loads words puts together 2 sometimes three some only we understand and he trys to tell you whole stories and gets cross, when we don't get it, nursery plan to move him to pre school room as soon as two as said he is v clever he only moved into toddlers v recently due to all his eye patch and glasses. ( I think he is that top end of average really :) )

HalfStar · 23/08/2016 14:10

Moggle plenty of Brew for you. Not sure what to advise on the scan front as our health system's a bit different etc, but ringing the unit sounds like a start? Are you bleeding still?

Beeper and FFS Ryan made me laugh so much though. Anna a lot of the kids at DD2's crèche are a couple of months younger and doing that kind of thing already! They give DD a big welcome when she's going in and she just sort of looks at them like Hmm Yeah, DD does a bit of a half assed attempt at words sometimes, same as your DD moggle.

east poor little guy, any idea what's up? Hope he's OK soon. I hate when you're bracing yourself for The Call.

Strawberryfield12 · 23/08/2016 14:34

Not much of joining words here either, the only ones really are the often used phrases, which she probably considers one word anyway, like, see you, oh dear, oh god, oh no, what's that?. Her attempts to create sentences so far are amusing more than anything. If she wants us to play ball with her she asks something similar to "pullapullapulla ball?" and about going to bath and bed "pullapullapulla bed?" or "pullapullapulla bath?"

She is heavily engrossed in numbers though (FFS Ryan! Grin ). I recently bought her magnetic numbers and letters to put on the fridge door in hope that would have her entertained while we cook, clean up etc. Best £5 spent ever! She can go on for ever naming the numbers. And then there is the mystery of 6 and 9 - DD keeps turning them upside down and back and marvel how the same figure can be both 9 and 6. Drawing 6 on the floor makes her go round it in circles like a dog after its tail. For once there is something that can compete with Youtube. It's been now couple of weeks like that and tbh that number repeating thing is a bit hallucinating at times trying to keep enthusiastic about the numbers on constant repeat.

moggle · 23/08/2016 14:42

Just called the clinic, I'm going in for a blood test tomorrow and again on Friday if the levels tomorrow aren't so low as to be definitive on their own. Pleased we'll have closure by the weekend so I can get pissed

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 23/08/2016 16:46

Half no idea but no call so will head out and get him shortly. Prob a virus if still spiking temps tomorrow will go to gp I usually wait 48-72hrs unless obvious whats causing it as generally get told viral.

Moggle thinking of you

haventgotaclue1 · 23/08/2016 19:37

Very much like Anna's DS here - no word combinations at all, but vocabulary is increasing almost daily (although sometimes we're sort of guessing at what she's trying to say until she nods her head furiously Grin)

porsmork · 24/08/2016 07:36

Only had one word combination, once. 'More Bob' for Bob the builder. Had to be tv related, sigh! Words do seem to be increasing though, mostly around food this week.

Struggling with him not sleeping through, again. He was up at 1 for milk (I went into his room and he looked at me and just said 'mi' for milk), then again at 5.30, but we think that was his eczema playing up. Gone back to sleep now though.

How do we drop this night time bottle????! I'm worried about tooth decay. He has a sippy cup of water in his room (non spill), and he will grizzle for hours if we don't give him milk. Think I'm going to have to reduce his afternoon naps too. 3 hours yesterday, though most days it's 2 hours.

Also, how are yours doing at playing by themselves? Ds used to be good at it, but now will only spend about 30 seconds doing something alone, before he nags me to play with him. A good sign he's getting more sociable, but blimey, pushing cars around saying 'brim brim' is boring! Tried to do colour matching and numbers etc, but he's not bothered.

Finally got him signed up for nursery, he starts next month, will have Wednesday and Friday morning to myself. Phew.

Hope you're doing ok moggle. X

Annarose2014 · 24/08/2016 09:21

We started diluting his nighttime bottle at 12 months. Basically by an ounce a month.

By 18 months he was drinking water and hadn't really realised as it was so gradual. We did it cos of the teeth. (Teeth brushing not a great success but we're persevering)

So ever since we have given him warm water in a bottle going to bed. We just bought a cup with an inbuilt straw thing and last night we swapped the bottle out for that. Basically we want to throw out our old bottles as we're getting in new ones for the new baby and want to get rid of the tatty old ones.

We've had to limit naps for a looooong time. Told nursery he needs to be up by 1.30 regardless. Night time goes ok then.

How exciting about nursery! You won't know yourself. It's been amazing for me. 5 weeks of sickness aside!

Annarose2014 · 24/08/2016 09:26

Good luck today with the bloods moggle . When will you get the results?

HalfStar · 24/08/2016 11:20

posmark I reckon if you limit the naps you'll see an improvement straight away. As lovely as a 3-hour nap is it's nicer to have a full night of sleep! DD does an early nap at crèche and is usually back up by 1.30 also, sometimes it's later at home at the weekend. Don't let him sleep past 3 under any circumstances!

But yes you are going to love that bit of free time on Wednesdays and Fridays! Really glad for you. It's so important to have some time off.

DD's latest thing is extreme rage if we try to give her a bowl or cup that is not the particular one/colour she had in mind. We have two IKEA cups with a blue lid and an orange lid - DD1 is too old for them but DD2 makes her drink from the orange one while dd2 gets the blue one. That is the law. I was distractedly trying to give DD1 the blue one while on the phone yesterday and couldn't figure out why this massive shit fit was going on over on dd2's side of the table...once I realised and swapped the colours all was calm again Confused

She's getting really good at getting herself dressed! At least I am impressed. Can put her trousers and shoes on. Can also take off every last stitch of clothing including nappy if she's not wearing a popper vest.

strawberry - that sound like pretty cool number stuff that your DD is into. She sounds very smart!

moggle · 24/08/2016 11:58

Have got the results already, as I expected, HCG was only 70 so for those that know about these things, that is not a good sign at this stage considering i got a positive on a 25mlu test 12 days ago. Still going in for another test on friday morning but for me today's result is enough to leave me certain that it is/was a failed pregnancy.

Onwards and upwards. I keep getting annoyed about silly things e.g. getting pregnant now i would've avoided being pregnant in summer!!

But on the plus side, GBBO starts tonight and that is going to make everything all better!
