Congratulations Wrecked.

Beasty, how is your dad today? I hope he is getting better.

WL, Venice sounds perfect. I hope your having a great time.

Nutella, I can't imagine having to learn a new career in a different language go you.

PurplePidjin · 13/02/2017 12:55

Well done Wreck!

Fingers crossed for your dad Beasty

nut that sounds exhausting

WL I'm incredibly jealous Venice is on my bucket list

News from here is that R decided to fly off the sofa on Saturday. He says he was good at flying but not good at landing and as a result we spent the day on the children's ward under observation for concussion 🙄

halestone · 13/02/2017 21:28

How is R now Pidj? Hope he is all OK and your all past the shocked.

WLmum · 14/02/2017 00:54

pidj hope R is fine now and just a little wiser in his flying/landing prep!
Venice was fab - so many bridges and beautiful buildings etc. We did have a lovely time but I have had a bit of an upsurge in anxiety over the last few weeks, and felt quite anxious while we were away - didn't tell dh as didn't want to spoil any of his hard work and plans. Also dd2 has been poorly which makes me super sad that I wasn't here for her - she was asleep when we got home but I stroked her and we had a quick cuddle.
I'm all turned around and wide awake if anyone wants a chat!

PurplePidjin · 14/02/2017 18:02

Yeah he was trying to play doctors to the other kids by the time we were discharged Hmm

WL that sounds tough, is it worth a chat with him now you're home?

MrsNutella · 14/02/2017 22:21

Pidj R's flying sounds pretty dramatic. Glad to hear he is ok!

Wl I have no help for the anxiety (although I hope you're ok, what have you done in the last that has helped?) but Venice sounds wonderful.

DS is still ill. It's been the best part of ten days or so now. He varies from being fine to having a temp up to around 39. It happens around lunchtime or in the evening - so generally when he flags normally.
He should be fine to go back on Thursday.

So DD has taken over his sickness mantle.

She was distraught at bedtime tonight and woke herself up repeatedly. The thing that really upset her.... the fruit tea I made for her and she forgot to drink it. In the end I took the little mug up to her when she next woke, she drank the lot. She seemed delighted to have her tea in bed Smile bless her.

I'm on my own with them tonight. Wish me luck!

WLmum · 14/02/2017 22:57

Thanks ladies. Don't really want to talk to dh about it just now - just feels easier to contain it. I've got access to counselling through work so will look into that. Dd2 can be very anxious so I'm keen to understand mine better to be able to support her.
nutella fruit tea in bed sounds very cute. I hope the dc are better soon. I had to take poor dd2 to hospital today as she hadn't kept even water down for 48 hours. She was sick in the hospital car park but not for the 3 hours under obs and was almost like her normal self by bedtime.

MrsNutella · 15/02/2017 08:12

WL it sounds like you've got a very sensible approach to the anxiety. I think understanding the source, the triggers etc will always be helpful.

DD actually slept really well last night (hurrah!). DS had a horrible coughing fit and his breathing is rather shallow which I don't like. So it's off to the doc's for both of them, at lunchtime (Shock)! That's going to be...... well... I'm sure I will survive. Good job I'm blonde. I would be soooo grey any minute now otherwise! I'm going to bribe them with ice cream to make them sit still.

Recently DD burped at dinner and DS said "excuse you"! I know now that he got it from Hey Duggee GrinGrinGrin

MrsNutella · 15/02/2017 09:12

And sending best wishes to DD2, hope she feels better soon. Flowers

WLmum · 15/02/2017 21:42

Duggee hug to your 2 nutella. Breathing can be so scary!

WreckTangled · 16/02/2017 05:44

5am wake up 😴

MrsNutella · 16/02/2017 16:56

WL ahhhhhhhh

Pidj it's ok, it won't be forever. One day they'll move out #silverlining??? Wink

Barbeasty · 16/02/2017 18:56

I wasn't long after you Pidj, but mine was an alarm clock to get up for work!!

The DC are very excited about going to London this weekend- they've packed a suitcase this evening. I'll check the contents later and see what needs changing!

Fun half term trip beasty?

halestone · 16/02/2017 23:18

WL I agree with Nutella that it's a good thing that your finding out your anxiety triggers. I also remember you saying that you like making plans is that something you can do at this time to help you feel more in control of your anxiety at the moment?

Nutella how are your 2 feeling now? Hope they're better soon.

Pidj, how cute is R playing Dr. I love their imagination at this age.

Wrecked I hope your fast asleep now. I hate 5am starts. Luckily we only get them when I have DN.

Beasty, do you have any nice plans for whilst your in London?

Barbeasty · 17/02/2017 09:04

We're just going after swimming lessons tomorrow, then back Sunday, taking advantage of other activities being off for the last weekend of half term.

We've booked to do a tour of the houses of parliament tomorrow afternoon, and the shard (kids go free in half term so less extortionate....) A insists he wants to go to the lego store at some point, although he also insists he will be getting a lego set so one way or another he might be disappointed!

MrsNutella · 17/02/2017 11:42

Beasty you've reminded me; There is an open house thing around September/October time in London and you can apply for entry into buildings you wouldn't normally see. I think it included places like city hall. I always forgot about it until it was already too late to book.

Barbeasty · 17/02/2017 11:50

I think I did that about 20 years ago with a friend. Vague memories of getting a voach down!

The shard is one of the things that we passed doing the dream jar trail last summer and both DH and A said they wanted to go up sometime.

OP posts:
WreckTangled · 17/02/2017 14:18

We went up the shard. Make sure you go in the loos! Best bit Grin

We have half term next week I want to take the kids to the science museum but not sure we can afford it really.

Barbeasty · 17/02/2017 14:46

We really weren't that impressed with the science museum when we went at Christmas.

Of the free areas, most of it is in glass cases so just to look at and not touch. The labels in the space area on the ground floor were years out of date- "this is a replica of the probe which will land on Titan in 2005" etc. The hands on area about climate change was ok for DD, but no good for A, and the other free hands on stuff was too old (and for A too high!)
We didn't pay to go into Wonderlab, which is meant to be good.
Fantastic shop though.

I think it will be good in about 3 years when A is about DD's current age.

OP posts:
WreckTangled · 17/02/2017 15:34

We weren't impressed when last went either beasty I was hoping it had improved...apparently not!

Barbeasty · 17/02/2017 19:57

No! It doesn't help that DD is interested in space and the 2nd area about it is closed until 2019.
If you've not been we thought the Museum of London Docklands was brilliant.

Well, just what we need. A has nits Angry. Just in time to share a sofa bed with DD in the hotel Sad

Shower cap him beasty!
