Christmas is done! Did anyone/everyone survive???

Ok, it's new year in a minute and then DS's birthday.... his party is the weekend after and so far I have two replies to say they can't come Sad I'm waiting to see what others have to say but I'm thinking about postponing it a week anyway - I'm still trying to shake a rotten cold.

WLmum · 30/12/2016 18:57

I guess it depends on 2 out of how many nutella
Anyone got any nice/grown up plans for NYE? We're going to this - is 5 and dm. Hoping it will be magical!

MrsNutella · 30/12/2016 19:06

Well... one of them is DS's sort of best friend (basically he is the only other one that comes close to DS at being mad and energetic).... I was talking to DH about it (we also have DH and FIL birthday in the first week of January Confused) today and he seemed quite keen on the idea of postponing...

Anyway, Kew looks lovely WL! But then, it always does Xmas Grin hope you have a lovely time. Our only plan is doing our best to get some sleep.

PurplePidjin · 30/12/2016 20:27

With you on the sleep! S treated us to a lie in till 5:28 this morning 😶

MrsNutella · 30/12/2016 22:31

pidj arrrrgggggghhhhh I would be ready to kill if my kids tried to tell me that 5:30 am was a wake up time. I won't tell you that they slept until 8am today oops they were like changed children. It was lovely!

I don't care if body snatchers were responsible we all needed that sleep!!!

Barbeasty · 31/12/2016 18:43

We're normally up first, and 6 is a lie in....

It's a night in tonight, with MIL. Everyone else is at mass now so an hour of peace, before I finish off the dinner.

A slept for 3 hours this afternoon, so he might be the only one here who sees in the New Year!

Happy New Year to you all.

Happy new year and welcome to the year they start school Shock

Barbeasty · 01/01/2017 10:55

Scary, isn't it!

MrsNutella · 01/01/2017 12:52

I'm kind of glad DS doesn't start yet. He seems way too little for school! I'm sure they all do Grin

Happy 2017 to everyone!
We took the DC to the zoo and DS wore a batman cape, which was a birthday present. He enjoyed telling everyone that he was 4. And I liked telling "batman" to hurry up Smile

Barbeasty · 01/01/2017 16:39

Well DD was just 6 weeks older than A is now when she started school. He seems much younger, but there's 9 months to go.

I was looking for trousers for him in the sales, thinking it's nearly time to get age 3 ones. I've noticed that several pairs are on the cusp of being short, especially when he's in the sling. But then I saw the labels today- no wonder the age 3 ones looked big..... the ones which are almost too small are 18-24 months!!

beasty that must have been so much harder - she was so little! T likes nursery which is helpful and well familiar with the school so sure she'll be fine but I just can't imagine it!

Equimum · 02/01/2017 10:16

Sorry to gatecrash, but I thought as I have found this thread I would pop-in and wave! I have just stumbled across you all while looking to see in the Aug '15 thread for my youngest was still going.

I was on some of the early threads for Dec '12 and well remember Nutella! DS turned 4 last week.

WLmum · 02/01/2017 20:01

Hi equimum happy new year! Come on back in!

MrsNutella · 02/01/2017 20:18

equimum hello! Yeah I remember you.... kind of Grin how are you? How mad is your 4 year old?

And when will DD calm down?! Jeeeez she is awful and hilarious. She is dropping her nap some days I really wish she wouldn't today she was home DS was at Kiga and DH was "working" from home.

She didn't want to nap today. She was screaming "OW OW OW MUMMY MUMMY PAPA PAPA. MUMMY PAPA MY FOOT OW OW OW" DH came running down from the office and I was running up the Stairs and we met outside her door. I thought maybe she had her foot stuck between the bars of her bed or something.

No, "my sock hurting me mummy"
she hurt her foot trying to pull off her sock. I couldn't help but laugh! She thought she was brilliant and poor DH was just really confused.

PurplePidjin · 03/01/2017 14:06

Yay hi equimum I have a September ds2 now. How's things going?

PurplePidjin · 03/01/2017 14:07

September 2015 ds2 I mean

Equimum · 04/01/2017 19:07

Hello again. Wow, I remember you too Pidge. Congratulations on your, 'not-so-new-now' addition. Our DS2 held on right to the end of August, so can't be much older than yours.

Nutella, DS1 is very loving, and absolutely loves exploring. As well as cuddling up in the sofa with a pile of pile. He is, however, also a complete handful. I love him to bits but he knows his own mind and very strong-willed. He certainly keeps me on my toes Grin.

How old is your DD Nutela? She sounds very sweet.

PurplePidjin · 04/01/2017 19:33

No must be days in it - he turned up 10 days early on the 2nd! Congratulations to you too Grin

MrsNutella · 04/01/2017 21:56

Equi I can totally understand the loving but strong willed description. Mine both are (DD is not quite 2 and a 1/2, Aug 14... only a 19 month unplanned gap) extremely strong willed and very loving in their own very different ways.

DD is sweet, but incredibly determined. She refused nappies when she was 22ish months. Just because that was what she decided. She drives me nuts. Weirdly DH copes better with her and I cope better with DS. I mean, we sort of understand their particular needs/wants.

Oh and the singing! They learn various seasonal songs at Kindergarten and nursery and if DD wants to sing it no one else is allowed to join in. Confused woe betide he who tries!

MrsNutella · 06/01/2017 09:01

Hurrah for being 4! DH put on his ski trousers this morning with no fuss at all! Phew. It was -11 for the walk to kindergarten so he needed the extra layer, also for later when they go out to play.

DD has never had an issue with putting "outdoor" waterproof trousers on but previously DS would fight and scream and it would take an almighty amount of patience to first calm him down and then negotiate.

Phew. That makes life easier! All we need now is some actual snow. Is anyone else freezing?
I've also stolen a jumper from DH so that I have a bug nugget warm jumper on. Grin

MrsNutella · 06/01/2017 09:19

Oops not DH, DS GrinGrinGrin

WLmum · 07/01/2017 20:27

nutella that made me laugh! Also, what's a bug nugget?!
We've had no wifi for a week, it's been lovely!

MrsNutella · 07/01/2017 21:45

I think it was big snuggly jumper Grin

But bug nugget sounds great I wonder if I can make it a thing maybe not...

WLmum · 08/01/2017 22:53

Today T has been mostly playing with her pet slug!! It's actually a stone but fil drew a face on it and she loves it!

MrsNutella · 10/01/2017 12:47

WL simple things.... I hope you have a picture or video of her and her pet for later blackmail enjoyment when she is grown.

And it's reminded me of a story about my Mum... she used to have a coffee grinder and the leftover grounds were kept in an old "bonne mamon" jam jar with a big black coffee spoon. One day my nephew sees this jar and asks her "grandma, have you got a pet slug?!" Grin
At least a pet slug should be pretty low maintenance

Can we please have more birthday pics on the FB page! I love seeing them all. Can't believe they are four! It's madness!!
