Thanks MrsE and Purple. Before this all happened the redundancy was legit but now I'm not convinced as I think my role still exists. I'm going to get advice on Monday and hope they extend the deadline.

J is wearing a little vest that has a collar and trousers (but have comfy grows as his extra outfits).

Love Modern Family!

IndomitabIe · 15/04/2016 08:18

Morning all,

Rhu that sounds so stressful. I was looking up something for someone else yesterday and found some info on the ACAS website here. Just check they're doing everything above board.

Try not to worry about driving. If you feel that sleepy, have a little nap at the services (10 minutes will refresh you).

Re: overnight nappy changes - if DS2 poos I'll obvs change it, but for the last few nights he hasn't pooed overnight so I've left it until the morning. This is unusual for us as DS1 pooed at EVERY feed for about a year!

We also had the leaking nappies with DS1. Hasn't happened yet with DS2 (phew).

DS2 is two weeks old today. I hope he continues to be as lovely and enjoyable as he has so far. If DS1 had been like this I'd have been tempted to have lots of babies! I was worried I might enjoy this maternity leave more than last time, and I'd find it difficult to go back to work. At the risk of jinxing things, that's becoming a real risk!

IndomitabIe · 15/04/2016 08:31

Oh, I wanted to mention to people who will understand: how nice is it to be able to sleep on your back or front again?! Such a little, yet glorious thing!

TriJo · 15/04/2016 08:53

Lying on my back and being able to put my own shoes on are highly underrated things Indom!

We were finally discharged off the midwifery service yesterday a week late - C was up to 3.985kg and his jaundice is almost completely gone. Have to take him for his BCG on Monday - not looking forward to that!

We pretty much decided yesterday that we are definitely buying a new buggy - we were a bit annoyed before with it due to the back wheels being very wide, the carrycot being too long and it being a huge effort to get it up and down stairs. Yesterday it got embarrassing though, we were on a bus from Camden to Archway when another woman with a pram got on, ours was so big and awkward there was no way of manoeuvring both into the space available and I felt like a tremendous dickhead over it.

Paperblank · 15/04/2016 09:08

High fives indom I love sleeping on my front and running up the stairs. I no longer haul myself up using the banister!!

Purpleprickles · 15/04/2016 11:49

Loving front sleeping too and being able to tie my own laces, being able to bend generally! Grin

vroc81 · 15/04/2016 12:44

Rhu that sounds rubbish, make sure they do everything properly my DSis went through it when she was pregnant and she ended up going to get Union with it all but there is loads of advice out there if u need it. Hope you manage to enjoy the wedding.

purple i have been watching The Middle which is ok and is better than watching Friends for the 518th time but I'll give Modetn Family a go thanks!

Loving sleeping on my back again!

I think R has just woken herself up farting... Classy lady! GrinBlush

Afternoon all, hope everyone is having a good day! A quick question to all the caboo wearers out there... I got a close caboo from an nct sling library yesterday, have tried it today and my back ached within a couple of minutes, it didn't when I tried it yesterday so I'm guessing I'm not doing it quite right, anyone got any tips?

Me624 · 15/04/2016 13:39

DS is smiling Grin when he woke up this morning and I went to pick him up out of his Moses basket I got the most amazing smiles, love him so much!

I love being able to put my own shoes and socks on without difficulty. And not needing a wee every hour or less!

I'm watching a lot of Friends too for the millionth time, plus a lot of Big Bang Theory and How I Met Your Mother. I've got a list of new box sets to watch but the problem is I need stuff that's easy to watch and doesn't really require any concentration as I get distracted by DS so easily. So comedies where you don't need to concentrate on the storyline are best - I'll save the box sets for when he's a bit older and sleeping through the night!

1frenchfoodie · 15/04/2016 14:46

MrsE, sorry to hear the Caboo hurt your back. Did you have baby high enough at the front to kiss their head? I've had no such problems with mine though the instruction booklet images are really hard to follow. i hear there are some good youtube videos on using it.

1frenchfoodie · 15/04/2016 14:52

trijo snap on the buggy - have a MaxiCosy bought from friends of friends that is so huge it has not even made it down from our bedroom as it is just not practical for the bus and narrow local pavements. I blame us having seen in a large garage and not having guaged the size. Just taken delivery of a cheap compact stroller that goes flat for newborns and will be trying put if it ever stops raining...

MyNameIsSuz · 15/04/2016 18:39

Also loving lying on my front, though it can be a bit uncomfortable on the boobs if we haven't fed for a while!

I've been watching Jane the Virgin, which is pretty easy to follow, and re-watching Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, which I would recommend to anyone as it's great, and the new series just went up on Netflix so that's our weekend sorted (well, in between countless episodes of Tinga Tinga Tales and Swashbuckle on the iPlayer).

MrsBenWyatt · 15/04/2016 19:02

Vroc I can also recommend Modern Family. I have been watching Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Brooklyn Nine Nine and 30 Rock.

Crispylicious · 15/04/2016 20:54

suz I've been watching Jane the Virgin too! I love it. Did you see the episode that focussed on Jane's struggles with BFing? It was so well done. I also chuckled when she was walking around with her my breast friend pillow attached, as I had mine on!

Think I've just boobed R into submission and sleep... DD is still yelling at her dad and refusing to go to sleep

Crispylicious · 15/04/2016 20:55

As well as Jane, ive been catching up with the vampire diaries. Hoooot vampires :)

Purpleprickles · 15/04/2016 21:30

Me yay to smiling! It's fab isn't it, totally heartwarming.

I'm going to check out Jane the Virgin too if if can find it. We don't have Netflix though, is it on Sky too? Modern Family just cracks me up, it's not the best thing to watch with a sleeping baby on you though- I keep trying to do silent non shaky laughs.

MrsE I'm no caboo expert but mine is more comfy each time I use it. I did find a video on YouTube and the woman said to widen the sling over your shoulders to increase support.

Have my brother visiting this weekend and meeting E for the first time. He's ten years younger than me and not confident with babies but I did catch him cooing at her when I was out the room. Then she cried and he yelled for help Grin

We bathed her with ds tonight too, she loves just being held in the water and he enjoyed washing her too. I'm looking forward to taking her swimming when she has had her jabs. Out local pool has a spa pool which they open to mums and babies once a week so i think she'll love that.

Good to see Idom and Trijo too!

MrsElls · 15/04/2016 21:35

Thanks french and purple, will try a higher baby and wider straps tomorrow. Dh has said he will wear it when we go to a Thomas the Tank day on Sunday so will see how he gets on with it as well.

MyNameIsSuz · 15/04/2016 22:34

purple, series 2 is on the channel 4 catch up at the moment, so the first series might be on there too.

MrsE how exciting, we went to a Thomas day in October and ds loves it! He still talks about the time we went to sodor...

BeautifulLiar · 16/04/2016 11:50

Popping in to say Purple what are you planning on putting DD in to go swimming? I want to take Nancy but cant find small sized swimming costumes anywhere!

magpiedreams · 16/04/2016 12:04

beautiful I've always put mine in a little swim wet suit type thing, I think made by splashabout and its meant they've been able to stay a hit longer in the pool before getting too cold too. I'm planning to do a baby swim class once I get round to booking it...! Did them with the older two and they loved them and it totally tires them out for a good nap after!

BeautifulLiar · 16/04/2016 12:11

Thanks magpie. Are they not a nightmare to take off a wet newborn?! Not sure I'm brave enough to do the classes...

MyNameIsSuz · 16/04/2016 12:21

Beautiful, you can get one that's wetsuit material and kind of like a vest but opens right out, velcros down the front, over the shoulders and between the legs. I had one with ds and it kept him a bit warmer in the water than just a swim nappy or wee trunks.

MyNameIsSuz · 16/04/2016 12:25

Like this

BeautifulLiar · 16/04/2016 16:42

Thanks Suz, that looks ideal. Not sure if I'm going to fit in my size 8 costume though...!

magpiedreams · 16/04/2016 16:44

Yep, as per suz they have easy baby access! I used to strip off the wet suit and wrap them in a towel then pop them on a towel-covered changing mat on the floor then quickly get myself dry and dressed then the baby is pretty much dry and ready to get dressed. I really recommend the baby swim classes but they can be a bit pricey. I have fab underwater photos of my 2 as small babies hence being basically obliged to so the same for #3!
