pis we have been taking E to soft play centres since he was around 6 months, he started to enjoy it more once he could move and now he is walking/running and climbing he loves it! I can't wait till he is a bit older and I can send him into the thick of it, sit back with a tea and chat to my friends Grin

I too had many a stressful moment when E was little, looking back he wasn't even that bad (my sister says i've forgotten as I want another) but when you are in the thick of it, its hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel!

So my parents have gone on holiday, and selfishly I need them to come back! E is poorly with a cold and high temp!

RPopz · 10/03/2016 21:14

Hi MaGra - I recognise your name.... Have you been one on of the JS Freds before??

MaGratgarlik1983 · 10/03/2016 21:38

Hi Yep I was on one of the conception ones for a bit but sort of lost track for a while! Currently trying to decide what to do about work...

Cookie I hope e feels better soon.

CarrotPuff · 11/03/2016 02:07

We're in hospital. O was very warm when I picked her up and crying as if in pain. She had 37.8 degree fever, which isn't high but we freaked out a bit. OOH GP sent us to hospital. When we undressed her one of her nipples was red and swollen. They think it's infected so they are giving her antibiotics overnight. My poor little girl Sad

Hobbit19 · 11/03/2016 02:17

Oh no Carrot, your poor baby, and poor you! Hope she recovers quickly. Wine

CountryGal4 · 11/03/2016 02:53

Carrot Wine poor poppet.

Toast85 · 11/03/2016 06:35

Better night last night. Room for improvement, but better!

Hope O is better today carrot and the antibiotics have done their thing. Hope you managed to get some zzz!

ZylaB · 11/03/2016 07:40

Ooh poor carrot, hope she's better soon!

H is feeling loads better and had a good night which is good :) ive got her booked into crèche at the gym next week for the first time in months, so I'm hoping she will be ok with it now she can move around loads more, speaking of which..first steps yesterday!

Am also in 2ww popz and after last month's IC madness I'm not testing until AF is due, or a couple of days before..no earlier! Thoigh I was playing with ICs and the cbafm and the Ics showed a strong positive for icing, but the cbafm never said peak, just high...meh. Maybe I'm not ovulating..

CarrotPuff · 11/03/2016 11:09

She looks fine. Watching them put a cannula in was very painful though, it took 2 attempts Sad

Just had second lot of abx. Still waiting to speak to a dr about how long they are going to keep us. I got some sleep at night but not much. So tired...

honeysucklejasmine · 11/03/2016 12:08

Oh Carrot Sad Poor O! A had a cannula put in after birth, there's still slight bruising on her hand now. Luckily I didn't watch them put it in though.

CarrotPuff · 11/03/2016 12:16

We are going home! We'll have to come back for abx injections though. Still waiting to speak to the nurse about this. Why there's always so much waiting around in hospitals...

goodnessgraciousgoudaoriginal · 11/03/2016 12:41

carrot oh that's horrible, I hope the baby carrot is feeling a bit better. Out of interest, how does a baby's nipple get infected?!?!? Having to take a baby to hospital is a horrible feeling. I hope you have plenty of tea and chocolate in the house - be kind to yourself!

Thanks for all the advice on where to plonk baby during the day people! I will give it some further thought. Our flat is miniscule, so we don't have a lot of room for multiple items iyswim. Thanks too for all the kindness over my Cruella DeVille phase Blush.

zyla a gym with a creche sounds fucking epic!!!!

I hope everyone is doing well today!!

Having to limit myself to three (small) coffees a day is so hard. A paediatrician told me off and said I should only be having one coffee, which earned a very arched brow. Even when pregnant you're allowed 200mg which is 2 instant coffees!!! I hope she knows more about babies than breast feeding....

Hobbit19 · 11/03/2016 18:24

Err, what? You can't have caffeine when BFing?? I don't drink caffeine anyway but I have never heard of this. If I can drink gin surely I can drink caffeine?!

Very glad you are going home Carrot.

First Steps Zyla! Star

jellypi3 · 11/03/2016 18:56

The NHS say you can have 400mg caffeine a day when bf'ing. To be fair I'm drinking about 30 cups.of tea a day. No wonder my baby doesn't sleep

honeysucklejasmine · 11/03/2016 20:43

Jelly replace tea with gin. You have fun, she sleeps better. Win win!

CarrotPuff · 11/03/2016 20:47

I've no idea how it got infected Gouda. It's actually not the nipple itself but the breast node inside. Neonatal infective mastitis is the official diagnosis.

We have to go back twice a day for abx - 10 pm & am. I've just given her a sponge clean and it already looks less red. Gx they'll give her all clear on Monday.

Gouda you should ask her about alcohol while bfing. Maybe not, might give her a heart attack! I would ignore her.

goodnessgraciousgoudaoriginal · 11/03/2016 21:19

carrot - ahhh, at least there seemed to be an easily "findable" reason behind it, so you could get those antibiotics into her quickly. Poor darling. And poor you!!! Going back at 2200 every day?! I'll be thinking of you over the weekend.

How are you guys drinking whilst breast feeding?! PLEASE TELL ME!!!!! My husband nearly caught me sticking my tongue into his glass of wine like some sort of demented cat earlier.

I had read that it was okay to have one unit of alcohol (which is only a really small glass of wine anyway...) provided there was then 2 hours until your next feed.

Mini cheese feeds every 2 hours normally (sometimes less, sometimes more but only at night), so there's no way I'd have time for my blood to clear the booze.

How are you guys doing it? Do you have longer between feeds? Do you just feel relaxed about a small amount of booze being left in the milk? (I had heard that small amounts of booze in breast milk actually tended to make babies more irritable/fussy, hence being keen to avoid)

I had grand plans about pumping on a regular basis so I could enjoy a glass of wine every now and then, and just use expressed milk. Unfortunately breast pumps don't work for me as the suction is not strong or precise enough Sad

RPopz · 11/03/2016 21:49

Aw carrot! - hope you're home soon.

RPopz · 11/03/2016 21:52

I never limited myself on caffeine particularly. I think unless you're mainlining redbulls you're probably fine! It'd be pretty obvious if your baby was being affected by caffeine.... Hmm

Alcohol and bf is fine gouda! The amount of alcohol that actually makes it into your breastmilk is miniscule.

SnapdragonAzZ09 · 11/03/2016 21:58

A bit late, but I found you, thanks for the new Fred, Purple.

Snap, 41, DS1 'P', 3.5 years and DS2 'R', 8 months of non-sleeping, non-feeding joy.

Will try to have a proper catch up read.

Hi Gouda!

Carrot, glad to hear your wee one is on the mend, how horrid for you all.

SnapdragonAzZ09 · 11/03/2016 22:05

Purple how did it go with the dietitian? Sounds like they should be referring you for allergy testing. R was finally tested last week for milk and soya allergy. Both came up negative but apparently that is inconclusive as you can have a delayed reaction which doesn't show up in the test. So we're continuing dairy free for now (although he won't accept the totally synthetic formula so he is still getting a tiny bit of cows milk protein from his milk and I do wonder if it's causing the reflux plus tummy pains, as he is just so unsettled and unhappy through the night).

DulcetMoans · 12/03/2016 03:40

What a stressful 24hes carrot! Glad you get to go home but in at 10pm
Every day is harsh! (Well twice a day is bad but somehow 10pm sounds worse!) hope you're not too far from the hospital and it's over quickly! The cannula was one of the worst things when in hospital - for me and J! His was failed as well so bruises up both hands. They are too tiny for cannulas!

We all seem to start out reading about the one unit, two hour thing gouda but quickly find other research that tells you that actually the effects on BM is tiny. I'll. Try find some links in a minute.

Good luck fighting the crazy popz! It's tough when you don't know what's going on down there but hopefully it will settle down into a semi-routine. In the meantime we can cheer you on (and probably fuel the cray-cray!)

When are your parents back cookie? That is so very selfish of them!

honeysucklejasmine · 12/03/2016 05:39

We're now on a 3 hourly food schedule. Goodbye, sleep.

CarrotPuff · 12/03/2016 06:20

Yes, 10pm is a PITA especially when you also have a 2yo. Thankfully DP's parents can babysit while we're there. It's doesn't help that for a 5 min procedure they still make you wait an hour Confused still, better than staying in hospital.

Meant to say earlier, yay for first steps Zyla! It's so magical when they toddle next to you, holding your hand.

Gouda here's your drinking pass:
Why you can drink while breastfeeding

jellypi3 · 12/03/2016 09:03

I'm sure I read somewhere that if you drink 1 unit only 0.01 units make it in your bloodstream or something like that? If you are worried you could time a glass of wine with when baby is feeding so you have the maximum time to let it leave your system
