indomitable, you've done brilliantly, one more day!!

IndomitabIe · 23/03/2016 17:15

Yes! Was just having a lie down before picking up DS (the wonderful cm feeds him at 4:30, he eats better for her than he does at home). Just as my alarm went to get up and go DH got back and is now off to pick him up. Yay, snoozing!

nixxxy · 23/03/2016 17:19

Guess where I am?! The MAU!

Community midwife found protein in wee and my BP was a bit up (though not as high as it was before Labetalol) so she's sent me in for checks. Currently strapped to a monitor, waiting for blood and wee analysis to come back. Could be induction time! I'm probably getting my hopes up though!

MyNameIsSuz · 23/03/2016 17:38

Ooh nixxxy good luck!

indomitable that sounds wonderful, I'm already missing those times and wondering why I was so desperate for the baby to come!

IndomitabIe · 23/03/2016 17:51

Ooh nixxy, hope it's simply a sign of an impending swift, natural & pain-free birth! (Well, we can be optimistic, right?!)

Suz, I know, I shouldn't wish this time away. It'll be such a long time till I can just lie like this again.

BumpPower · 23/03/2016 18:22

Good luck nixxy hopefully this is the start of a simple quick labour!
Midwife was v apologetic and had to take a few phonecalls from other v cross mummies when I saw her! She was v nice though so I forgave her. Sweep went well - 2cm dilated, v stretchy, felt the baby's head, bulging waters etc but still no baby!
Snoozing sounds good indom I managed a 2hour nap today! Am tempting to go marching round the block once DS1 is in bed...

marmiteandcheeseplease · 23/03/2016 18:28

Hi all, been lurking today but not had time to post! Feeling a lot better today and less emotional so hopefully over the worst of the hormonal crash. E has been feeding fine today - still painful but less painful than yesterday. Have the appointment at bf clinic tomorrow so hopefully they will give me some tips on where I'm going wrong.

nixxy hope this is it for you!

indom well done on making it to your (almost) last day!

bump hope you got your sweep!

magpie the close is def good for newborn phase, E really likes it. I've got a more structured carrier for when E gets bigger as I struggled with the caboo slipping through the rings, though might check out dobby's tips to stop that!

maybe I wouldn't feel guilty about your sleeping baby! Just enjoy it as you never know when he'll regress!

Had a better night's sleep last night as managed to get E to sleep in bed with me next to me rather than on me. We also put her in a sleeping bag, even though she isn't 8lb. We did check and theres no way her head could slip down but just to be on the safe side went to mothercare today and bought a gro snug which is basically a newborn sleeping bag.

Had doctors appointment this eve as E still hasn't pooed but he checked her tummy thoroughly and wasn't concerned and just told me to wait it out or use infacol if it looks like she's in pain.

maybebabybee · 23/03/2016 18:42

time sorry Calais is giving you a hard time today, Sid is really quiet so far and I'm dreading having a day like that. Is she a bit more settled now?

Feeling v anxious about Sid. I suppose it's part of being a mum and I always knew I would be like this as I'm an anxious personality anyway but it's still not nice. Constantly worrying about cot death. For eg when they say always place baby on back to sleep does that mean he can't even sleep on my chest during the day when I'm awake? And I know he's not supposed to have stuffed animals in the cot but we use the sleepyhead so there's no way they can get anywhere near his head, is that still ok?

Ohwoolballs · 23/03/2016 19:09

Had a sweep today too! She could get her finger in (ooer) so I'm between one and two cm. Lots of cramps walking round tesco.
Ended up meeting the in laws, by the 1,321 joke about getting a curry I was out of polite laffs.

nixxxy · 23/03/2016 19:51

Good news! I'm getting out tonight but coming back to be induced tomorrow. Don't know if it's morning or evening yet but at least I can prepare myself a little bit.

One last sleep! Grin

...can I officially start panicking now? Anyone have nice inducement stories? Lol

Ohwoolballs · 23/03/2016 20:01

Fantastic nixxy have a fab last quiet eve, make it a good supper and pampering bath 😄

nixxxy · 23/03/2016 20:12

Going to attempt to shave legs and fanjo a bit. Not expecting great success. Looks like 3pm tomorrow they want me in - on monitor again and baby is having a rave, as per usual for this time of night!

ffauxlivia · 23/03/2016 20:26

Good luck nix! Do you know if you are dilated at all? My induction was pretty interventionist and not that pleasant, but I was 2 weeks early and started from very unfavourable position (not even 1cm) But everything was blissful once I had the epidural and I have no regrets taking it, despite a tear (which is healing very well). I actually enjoyed the pushing stage! Take snacks and keep an open mind about how labour may progress :) I'm excited for you, another baby!

maybe I have the same anxiety, it's tough isn't it. I panic about every weird breathing pattern or noise I notice.Tummy sleeping on your chest is totally fine as far as I am aware, so long as you're not too tired and can always check their airways are free. If you can feel your eyes getting heavy then it's safer to put baby down at that point, just in case they bury their face into blankets or chin drops into chest. I have Seren all day on my chest, love snuggling her. But her so nervous when DH has her as I keep finding him drifting off with her sleeping on him, which is way more dangerous as men are less in tune with baby (no hormones like us) and more likely to sleep deeper and not wake up if baby slips to a dangerous position. I've been getting so mad with him about it and can't sleep when he has her!

I'm sure stuffed animal is fine as long as he cant reach it with his hands?

Anyone have any tips on getting baby to sleep at night? She's fine during the day but night is so hard, tempted to start a dummy out if desperation, is that a really bad idea? She soothes when sucking on my pinkie but I can't do that all night. I don't think I need to worry about nipple confusion since she is taking both bottle and breast right now

maybebabybee · 23/03/2016 21:18

Faux we have given Sid a dummy to settle him at night with no issues whatsoever, it hasn't interfered with breastfeeding in the slightest but we were lucky in that we both got the hang of it from the start. It falls out of his mouth but that's fine as it does send him off. But we only give it to him if he's definitely not hungry - just to drift him off if he's a bit grumbly. It's working nicely for us but at the moment he is pretty placid (waiting for that to end!).

Definitely can't reach any toys with his hands so that's ok.

maybebabybee · 23/03/2016 21:29

Oh also - I recommend Ewan the dream sheep - Sid seems to love his.

shieldbug · 23/03/2016 22:12

hello ladies! Haven't been able to go online for ages so am still catching up with all the baby news (only just reached page 2 of this thread!).
So, quick update then will catch up properly later...

Zoe Elanor Anne was born on the 8th after a quick but horrible labour, by far my worst. She is almost back at birth weight now, which was exactly 4kg or 8lb 13oz.
After 2ds, it's lovely to have a girl and her big brothers adore her, which makes me adore them even more!

BumpPower · 23/03/2016 22:36

ffaux DS had a dummy from a few hours old - given to him by the NICU nurses - he never had any nipple confusion and gave up the dummy easily at 6 months. All babies are different but I thought a positive story might help Grin

Good news that the end is in sight nixxy

I've been for several bizarre walks round the block and getting tightening ever 20mins or so... I've stayed up way past my bedtime, have the fear if I go to bed it will all stop. Which is probably true but pacing the lounge all night hardly seems sensible, hmmmm

MrsElls · 24/03/2016 02:38

maybe I can't believe I forgot Ewan the dream sheep, that worked wonders for ds, need to dig it out and put new batteries in.

Ffaux I was dead against a dummy with ds as I didn't want the battle of having to take it away from him at some point. All that happened was the he found his thumb and at over 2 he still sucks it when he is tired or upset. Of course we can't take his thumb away so part of me thinks it would have been easier to deal with a dummy hopefully he won't be a thumbsucker at 10

shield congratulations and I love the name Zoe.

Woodenmouse · 24/03/2016 04:03

Congratulations shield Zoe is a brilliant name!!

Good luck nix I hope it all goes smoothly

I had my chunky monkey weighed today he know weighs 10lb 10!! Hv was ready to yell at me for letting him sleep for 5 hours at night but agreed thatbhw was obviously doing fine so there was no need to wake him!

QforCucumber · 24/03/2016 06:53

Morning all. Not going to lie I've had no chance to reply to text messages this week never mind keep updated on here, had a skim through and really sorry to hear the breastfeeding woes. Rory has been fussy too, he's had 2 nights where one feed has been pre made aptamil as he just wouldn't take boob - having the bottles hadn't confused him though and he's gone straight back to me for next feed.
Still amazed that he's 5 days old and that I get to keep him haha.

Will try to keep myself active here, even if I don't add to the thread much I'm thinking of you all and your support throughout has been amazing. Every single one of you ladies is fantastic.

IndomitabIe · 24/03/2016 06:54

Congratulations Shield! Zoe is a brilliant name!

Hope you've got a baby, Bump.

I'm in agreement with the dummy suggestions. We were dead against it with DS, and when I eventually cracked and became desperate, he refused it. So I've got two in the drawer already!

Well done on your little chunk, wooden!

I'm 40+1 and off to work. It's finally the last day of term! I'm looking forward to the "ooh, when are you due" questions! although most people know it was yesterday so I'll probably miss out. Hmm

BumpPower · 24/03/2016 07:09

Well done indom hope work gets you something lovely to mark the occasion!

No baby here, eventually gave up and went to bed so everything stopped. Head seems to be ridiculously low now though, can't put my legs together and think we might have given baby a bit of a headache when we dtd!! Am more hopeful that things might kick off when I start moving round today - baby can't stay there forever it's just not possible!!!!

marmiteandcheeseplease · 24/03/2016 07:15

Morning all, had a second decent night with Eleanor - she fed at 11, 2.30 and then up for the day at half 6. Still having to co sleep to get her to settle at night and I've not quite got the hang of being completely comfortable but we've got a safe set up which matters more. Managing to latch her on better on left boob now but right boob is a nightmare, looking forward to my appointment at breastfeeding clinic today. El still hasn't gone a poo Confused just the tiniest bit yesterday but the GP had a feel of her belly and wasn't concerned but it's still stressing me out. He said that some bf babies just absorb everything from breast milk so there isn't much left for poo and she's obviously doing well in herself so just to wait it out unless she seems in pain.

Congrats on getting to your last day indom!

Congrats shield, Zoe is a great name - was on our shortlist Smile

Hope those of you still waiting/overdue are doing ok, let's have some more babies on this thread today! Grin

TriJo · 24/03/2016 07:32

40+4, few cramps yesterday evening but nothing productive. Midwife appointment this afternoon so we'll see how that goes.

MrsElls · 24/03/2016 07:43

marmite my friend's bf baby consistently only pooed once every 10 days, apparently it is fairly common but prepare yourself for a potential explosion when it does happen!
