Hi ladies, thanks Indom for the suggestion of me starting a new thread. Seeing as Zach and myself have been knocking about on antenatal since November it will be lovely to have you all joining us shortly in the baby, rather than pregnancy conversations! Bring on the March babies!!!!

Afternoon. Not after...

BumpPower · 21/02/2016 12:16

Ah just found you all. mship all sounds very promising although I know how frustrating all the "not long nows" are when you just want to have baby in your arms!
indom sounds like you are in the same position as me with due near a DC birthday. Mine have the same due date! But DS was 11days late. Luckily he'll be 2 this year so won't mind at all if his birthday celebrations are on a different day!

maybebabybee · 21/02/2016 12:17

I don't really notice my braxton hicks. Hope this isn't a sign I'll go really overdue Confused

IndomitabIe · 21/02/2016 12:21

maybe, mine aren't that noticeable this time. I have to have a good belly-grope to check that's what the slightly odd & nondescript feeling is. I better not go overdue.

Bump before my first scan this one had the same due date as DS. But they adjusted it to 2 days before (and DS came 3 days after his).

maybebabybee · 21/02/2016 12:28

Thanks indom. Fx for us both then!!

MrsBenWyatt · 21/02/2016 12:55

Bump if I get to section date, this baby will be born ten days before DD's 6th birthday. As I will be recovering from the op, I have booked a soft play party that requires zero effort.

Three weeks later, it will be DS's 3rd birthday! I do enjoy a spring baby!!

No idea why that's posted twice. Sorry.

Trinpy · 21/02/2016 13:44

We must all love a spring baby - I'm due exactly 2 weeks before ds' birthday! Its a lovely time of year imo, because its warm enough to get out for walks (and to dry all the mounds of washing you get with a newborn), you don't have to mess about with lots of layers, etc, but its not too hot.

Whats everyone planning for their dcs birthdays? I'm lucky that ds is still small enough that he won't know what's going on, so I'm getting his present bought and wrapped in advance then we can have a quietish day at home with grandparents popping in to say happy birthday. This is obviously assuming I'm not having a baby on that day!

Indom can your dh take your ds out for a bit so you can have a sleep? I felt really sick too this morning and a quick nap has really helped.

IndomitabIe · 21/02/2016 13:53

Trinpy I definitely think babies belong in the spring! I love spring (although, I prefer a dryer one than this!).

DH won't take him out, he's got a similar amount/type of work to do as me. And is getting really grumpy about it.

Plus, I have a terrible case of Sunday-night-insomnia, so if I can make it through the day there's a chance I'll sleep tonight! Need to power through the 3:30 & 6pm snooze-fest though!

TheMshipIsBack · 21/02/2016 15:11

Thanks for the good wishes, all! I am still having mild contractions, they never really go away. Baby's moving lots and I think has moved down some - I have to wee a lot more frequently than yesterday! PILs are back in town and have taken DS for the afternoon so DH and I can rest.

TheMshipIsBack · 21/02/2016 15:14

Oh and I am definitely taking MrsBen's advice about resting. I did go for a little walk this morning to get some fresh air, but I am not bouncing on my ball unless I need a little help getting through a contraction. Just reading quietly on the couch mostly.

hayleycookie · 21/02/2016 15:37

Good to hear things are still happening Mship but sorry they're taking their time! At least they're not too painful for you though and that you can get some relaxing in before anything kicks off.

My ds's birthday isn't until May so I should be ok with planning something suitable. Probably just a family "party" at ours though.

My bh's are sometimes really really tight and uncomfortable and others times I don't feel them at all until I put my hand on my belly.

Had a huge long (3 hour) walk this morning around a farm and forest and am knackered now!! Dh is watching ds so I can have a bath and soothe my bones for a bit. Trying to resist the pull of a nap until bedtime so I can have a good sleep.

Hope everyone else is having a good Sunday! Last week at work for some, and definitely some babies appearing this week! This thread is going to go crazy

BeautifulLiar · 21/02/2016 15:46

Hope everyone's ok and MShip I wonder if the contractions will get stronger for you? Fx anyway!

My DC's birthdays are 9th May, 29th August, 29th November and this one is due 8th March so pretty spaced out Confused Grin

DH is back from working away yay! So I can have the baby now :)

Anyone got any advice for how to handle my consultant appt on Wednesday? I want to ask if she'll bring the induction forward, even if it's just to 39 weeks, or 39+ (she said at 34 weeks that I'll be induced at 40 weeks as she doesn't want me going overdue with the gritty placenta).

But I have had three fast labours, getting faster, with the third baby delivered by DH. The hospital is 45 minutes away. If I go into labour naturally before the induction date we could realistically be in a position where I'm delivering in the car Confused The midwife has suggested I ring an ambulance when my contractions start so paramedics can take me into hospital. This seems silly compared to moving the induction forward. So what do I say? How do I put my case forward?!

I did briefly consider having an unassisted birth but luckily DH said please no!

MrsBenWyatt · 21/02/2016 16:43

Beautiful my friend had a 'precipitous' labour with her first baby. She is pregnant again and has been told she has to be induced around 38 weeks (delivered at 38 last time). There was an acronym mentioned on here for talking to consultants etc that seems useful anthrodoula.blogspot.co.uk/2011/06/informed-choice-and-brain-acronym.html?m=1

MrsBenWyatt · 21/02/2016 16:50

I guess the main points for you would be what are the benefits of waiting and what are the risks of waiting.

maybebabybee · 21/02/2016 17:01

beautiful that's a tricky one really, I guess it's a question of you being assertive?!

Ftm question here. Baby is allegedly engaged but I don't feel a) any more pressure down below b) like there's a watermelon between my legs and c) I still feel his bum and feet jammed into my ribs. Also don't feel like my bump has dropped - it doesn't look any different. Could this just be because I am so short baby doesn't really have enough room to "drop" noticeably?!

Me624 · 21/02/2016 17:10

Hello all. I'm shattered today for some reason. But no work tomorrow, hooray! Still feels strange that my mat leave has started.

Beautiful seeing as a few weeks ago they didn't think you were going to make it to term, and tons of babies are delivered at 38 weeks for various reasons, I can't see there would be that much risk in bringing your induction date forward by a week. Surely having the baby in the car is a greater risk!

I have very noticeable BH maybe. It feels like my whole bump has gone really tight. I've heard it varies a lot though and some women don't really feel them.

I am not sure how engaged mine is now. At my last appointment (36+5) they said he was 1/5 engaged. Now 38+2 and my bump has noticeably dropped, I can breathe more easily and I am not getting as much heartburn, but I can still feel quite a lot of kicks which seem to be quite high up and I haven't noticed an increased need to wee particularly. Next midwife appointment is on Tuesday so will see what she says then! I don't feel like he's coming any time soon.

BumpPower · 21/02/2016 17:17

maybebaby I'm short and people have been telling me I've dropped since about 5 months! I just think there is not a lot if space to make a difference. Same with all the "under bump" maternity wear - I have no under bump, comes straight out!

Spring babies are brilliant, I live by the sea and it's just getting into weather you can walk along the beach in.

BumpPower · 21/02/2016 17:20

hayleycookie I'm in awe of a 3 hour walk!! I haven't letter house since Tuesday!! Mind you for good reason as I've been looking after DS with chicken pox but still. I worry as I really don't want to be overdue like I was last time!

IndomitabIe · 21/02/2016 17:23

Bump, I'm about average at 5'7" and have had a really low bump throughout this time. (I think this is why all maternity jeans are a PITA to wear). Small of boob too, so there's always been a perceived gulf between top of bump and boobs. This now means that even my wonderful maternity dungarees are coming to the end of their life, as the bib bit is now below nipple height! (What a look!)

I think there's no harm in asking, Beaut. Definitely worth reminding them of the potential for sneeze birthing before you finish the 999 call!

I've got some planning done thanks to my playdough making skills and the GameCube! Quite proud of myself. Still need to fold the washing and do the actual marking though!

magpiedreams · 21/02/2016 18:34

trin I can't believe it either, usually lasts 10-14days but should be a bit shorter now I've been on the Tamiflu. The worrying period of risk to the baby is probably passed which is the main thing.

beaut I have seen 'previous precipitate labour' as a reason for induction at 38-39weeks before so definitely worth asking. I am going to have the same conversation next week with consultant as DD was born in our kitchen unintentionally 20mins after I'd been emptying the dishwasher. hence my concern that this one might pop out in a swine flu coughing fit

Glad to hear good things about spring birthdays. We have a summer and an early winter so spread out like beaut. Spring feels fitting though with all the new life vibes. I have a newborn sleep suit with little chicks on it that better fit for Easter Sunday! and baby best be here by then

BumpPower · 21/02/2016 19:04

Ooo indomitable you are a teacher too - is it something extra fertile about the post Summer half term do you think? Exams done, starting to think about sneaking home earlier....clearly worked for us?? I am 5ft so have no chance. I'm so huge now I'm in maxi dresses and only consider knickers if I'm dressing up!
Wow magpie Having a baby whilst emptying the dishwasher is fabulous multitasking skills well done you!!

magpiedreams · 21/02/2016 19:06

Although beaut - you have prompted me to properly look into it now and the NICE guidance says:

1.2.8 History of precipitate labour
1.2.8.1 Induction of labour to avoid a birth unattended by healthcare professionals should not be routinely offered to women with a history of precipitate labour.

But that's guidance, not RULES. So yes, discuss it and have the conversation!

BeautifulLiar · 21/02/2016 19:52

Ooh that's interesting, magpie. Thank you. Although I'm only asking her as she definitely wants me induced... if I have to do it, I may as well do it asap!! So bloody nervous. I'd much rather just have the home birth. And omg the dishwasher thing!! That's amazing!!

Thanks everyone else - Me that's a really good point.

Just in bed with a book and some fruit pastilles Blush
