Hi ladies, thanks Indom for the suggestion of me starting a new thread. Seeing as Zach and myself have been knocking about on antenatal since November it will be lovely to have you all joining us shortly in the baby, rather than pregnancy conversations! Bring on the March babies!!!!

Ooh I hope so marmite and sher, I'm starving too!!!

vroc81 · 07/03/2016 18:15

That would be great, I've been starving for days too!!

sherazade · 07/03/2016 18:23

Thank good it's not just me. Thought I'd turn into a greedy pig as well as a slovenly slattern. Must be pregnancy related cus everyone says my bump has grown a lot in the past week!

Woodenmouse · 07/03/2016 18:30

Q that's brilliant!!

IndomitabIe · 07/03/2016 18:42

That's good, Missi. My DS was not so happy understatement and I think it shaped his early personality and our experience of his early years rather negatively. He was in pain for months, poor dude. The gaviscon worked like magic! I'll be vigilant and insistent this time!

Oh, sher, that sounds unimaginably awful. I had sore nips, but was lucky to avoid all of that horror. Thanks for that link too, I'm building a Pinterest board with all these on!

Re sibling issues. DS is nearly 5, so I think he can understand it a bit more, and we've been talking about how in the beginning it'll be a lot of DS & daddy time. But you've given me a lot to think about, thanks! There's nothing but worry in this parenting game, is there!

Lol, Q! I'm there!

Joining in starving club, but probably not signifying imminent labour!

QforCucumber · 07/03/2016 19:22

Yea suz all seems crazy here, they want to see you as close to your due date as possible to do a sweep and they book induction for 7 days after due date. Something about the local truth experiencing a lot of still births when allowing pregnancy's to go over 40+9 and this new process (been in place 18 months) has drastically reduced those (I asked why it's so rushed)
Friend of mine had her baby last night - 9 days late and she weighed 10 lbs 4oz. 1st baby, natural birth - ouch!
I've tried nesting today a little but am into my 4th week off work and there's only so much cleaning you can be bothered to do!

Congratulations Rosie! Mia is lovely Smile.

Rhu You haven't 'failed' at anything by switching to formula. Its really not worth spending the newborn days feeling miserable when you should be enjoying your new baby.

Glad your ds is OK Indom but shame you missed out on your sofa day Wink.

Beaut aww poor Willow. I haven't said anything to anyone but I really hope any visitors will be clued-up enough to make a big fuss of Ds rather than just cooing over the baby. Although your post has made me think I should maybe mention it to childless friends before they visit so he doesn't end up feeling left out. We're getting him a Bing toy from the baby, which probably will seem like a more exciting addition to the family than the baby in his eyes!

missi not sure if you've already seen them, but those Tommee Tippee bibs which have a thicker padded bit that sits right up under their chin are great for sicky babies. Stops it pooling in the creases in their neck and behind their ears.

me I can't really add much to the amazing advice everyone's given so far re bfing, just wanted to say well done on managing another day, it sounds like you're doing a great job so far Smile.

Apologies in advance for the Tmi but - I had a painful but still fairly mild contraction this morning so had a little check to see whether I'd progressed any more past the 3cm dilated from when I checked last week. Anyway there was something that felt a bit like a water balloon in there Blush, and google tells me this is probably the membranes? I had a mw appointment today and baby is fully engaged now so I suppose that's the reason its like that, but it was still all a bit weird and scary! So I think I'm done with the diy checks now Confused.

X-posted with all of you! We're too chatty on this thread!

MyNameIsSuz · 07/03/2016 19:57

Yay, I've ordered ds a big brother present, one more tick on my to do list!! Just need to wait at least until Thursday to have the baby now, otherwise it won't be here in time...

Feanor · 07/03/2016 20:44

RhubarbAndMustard and magpiedreams, thanks. My question about clothes is here: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/postnatal_clubs/2586331-Easy-on-baby-clothes?

(I like to try and keep questions in their own threads on forums)

Thanks too for pointing me towards the breast sandwich issue! This thread is so long I've not read much of it but you prompted me to look for the post on the previous page with a very useful link. I'll send it to my wife and we can have a go with some of the suggestions together.

Sorry I haven't been around for a couple of days - been introducing Martha to my family Grin She's been spoilt rotten!

Martha says hello to all the new babies, and I am sending love and congratulations to the new mums and dads.

We're having a bit of a challenge with Martha at the minute - she's very anti sleeping in her crib and is much happier sleeping on me (which is not a habit I want to encourage) I've ordered a sleepyhead pillow/pod to try and hope that it helps.

I can't believe she's 2 weeks old on Wednesday the time has flown...

Here's a pic of my beautiful girl xx

Ah what a lovely family photo paper. Cassidy wasn't a big fan of her Moses basket at first and woke cried every time we put her down. We started swaddling her and putting her in the cot bed at night, she looks tiny in such a big bed but goes down much better.

sherazade · 07/03/2016 21:21

Hi paper lovely to hear from you hope you're doing well - lovely pic too
Re baby clothes i tend to put mine in popper free nighties for super easy nappy changes

Woodenmouse · 07/03/2016 21:21

I'm getting mild crampy pains again today as well as back ache. Hopefully this is the start of something but I'm not holding my breath!! I'm also starving Grin
I'm 7 days over due tomorrow I hope I'm not imagining things

sherazade · 07/03/2016 21:22

Wooden I bet you'll go into labour shortly !!!

Woodenmouse · 07/03/2016 21:23

paper that's a gorgeous photo!!

dobbythedoggy · 07/03/2016 21:56

Place marking. In a haze of new bornsnugles, sleeplessness, post 3rd degree tear poos and setteling in new big sister. But looks like I'll see you all on a new thread!

Woodenmouse · 07/03/2016 22:34

Sher I hope so!!!

Missikat · 07/03/2016 22:41

Gorgeous pic and family Paper.

Today was my due date. It's a weird, bittersweet feeling....happy to have known my little man for so much longer than I should have done, but also thinking how different the last 3.5 months would have been had he decided to hang on to be a March (rather than November!) baby. Sad to have not experienced a full pregnancy this time round as I loved it so much with DS1. I think this is probably it for us now too so no more pregnancies for me. Also of course feeling very greatful.

Happy due date Missi, Thanks

TheMshipIsBack · 08/03/2016 00:04

Hi all! Sorry I disappeared for a week there. Last Monday/Tuesday was another bout of false labour in the end and I was so disappointed I sulked for days. Anyway, back now Grin and massive congratulations to all the new mums and babies!!

I'm happy to say that Tamsin May finally decided to join the party at lunch time today (Monday) after a 4 hour labour. She's a hefty 9 lb 2 oz and gorgeous. It was too fast for anything but gas and air, and I am still in shock that I got through it. I had to get a spinal to repair a suspected 3rd degree tear but it turned out to only be 2nd degree so I was pretty lucky. I'm in overnight but should be home tomorrow.

MrsElls · 08/03/2016 00:27

Congrats mship, she is adorable and I love the name, hope you recover well.

Cassidy has gone from not wanting to feed to feeding well but only for short times every two hours. She is also refusing her top ups, in a way I'm pleased as we might be finally getting somewhere with establishing bf properly but equally it could be a long night!

Missikat · 08/03/2016 01:46

Huge congrats Mship! Four hours with a plus 9lb baby, that is impressive! She is absolutely lovely, love the hair!

Thanks Indom, and happy due date (for yesterday now it's past 12) to Vroc.

MrsElls, I'm with you on the frequent feeds! Zach has been doing every 1-2 hours at night (with a very rare stretch of over 2 hours) for pretty much most nights now since he got home from hospital. I'm thinking hoping that as soon as he's a bit bigger these will stretch out to 3-4 hours as it's so knackering! Hope you manage to get some rest, and I guess rest assured that Cassidy is just doing what she needs to get your milk going with the amounts she wants at the times she wants it hard to think about when it's the fifth waking of the night and the sun isn't even up yet tho!
