Hi ladies, thanks Indom for the suggestion of me starting a new thread. Seeing as Zach and myself have been knocking about on antenatal since November it will be lovely to have you all joining us shortly in the baby, rather than pregnancy conversations! Bring on the March babies!!!!

BABIES SmileGrinGrin It's so exciting to see them arriving! Huge congrats rhu and beaut. He's gorgeous Rhu and Beaut fab you didn't have to be induced and had minimal hospital time.

mrse I think you should follow your instinct re the feeding - that was the best advice I was given by a BFing specialist. You know your baby best. 4 hours seems quite a long time between feeds - I was told every 2 hours, but personally I'd just feed when the baby seemed hungry.

Sorry to hear about the OC ff. Sounds stressful. Hope you are feeling a little less worried today. Also sorry to read of horrible uti/cold combo and blood pressure worries (was that Vroc? Can't scroll back...)

marmiteandcheeseplease · 03/03/2016 21:06

Wow congrats beaut think I cross posted with you earlier as only just saw your post. Congrats rhubarb!

No update from me hope she's OK! More babies born tonight please! I'd love for baby marmite to make an appearance but she's still very active with lots of room, not holding my breath for an appearance yet.

MrsElls · 03/03/2016 21:10

Ah Rhubarb Jacob is beautiful!

Well Cassidy happily had 20 mins bf and I personally wouldn't have bothered about offering a top up but dh insisted we follow dr's orders, she very reluctantly took 25ml of formula then started spitting it back out which I was secretly a little pleased about as it proved that I was right and she had had enoughso he gave up. I'm not precious about formula at all, whatever she needs to be healthy is fine by me but I do believe in feeding on demand rather than forcing any kind of regime. I don't like to eat when I'm full so why should she. I am however slightly worried about her temp, she has three clothing layers and three blankets at the moment and still feels on the cold side to me, they should be in to check it again soon though so fingers crossed it will have gone up.

Anyone struggling with late pregnancy aches you have my sympathy, if it helps rest assured that it all seems a long tome ago within a few hours of having a newborn!

docmcstuffins1 · 03/03/2016 21:29

Congratulations rhubarb, he's gorgeous! Oliver and Jacob are both on my shortlist of favourite names - good choice!

RhubarbAndMustard · 03/03/2016 21:30

Thank you everyone. He's currently snuggled up asleep in my arms and I've just had oral morphine so feeling good. Jacob looks exactly like his brother as a newborn. Both with a full head of hair! That's their Nigerian side I think. DS1's is now gorgeously curly. No heartburn but awful reflux and indigestion this time round. So far he's taken to the breast really well.

MrsB I was told they can only give the strong meds in hospital. No idea why. Hope your not suffering too much.

MrsE I'm no expert on breastfeeding but I think mums instinct is usually right.

vroc81 · 03/03/2016 22:03

Congratulations rhubarb he's beautiful, love the hair!!

Hope me is doing ok!

Whose setting off tonight's action?!

Trinpy · 03/03/2016 23:12

Awww gorgeous baby Rhubarb. I love all the masses of dark hair! Congratulations Smile.

Had a horrible evening here. Just dragging myself up to bed now. Hopefully more babies will arrive tomorrow to cheer me up?

BumpPower · 04/03/2016 02:35

Beautiful babies and lovely names!! rhub and beaut
I'm bucking the trend by resolutely telling baby to stay put! Less than 24hrs until DP gets home (well till he gets to my parents to pick me up and take us home!) then I will start to wriggle and jiggle again!
In the CSC tonight....forgotten my parent place is like the Arctic so DS keeps waking and without a big snoring heat generating DP next to me it's tricky to get back to sleep. Know I will look back soon and marvel at laying awake rather than sleeping standing rocking a newbie!

1frenchfoodie · 04/03/2016 04:02

Congratulations beaut and rhubarb. Love the names and all the hair rhubarb. Intrigued about the heartburn question, is that linked to hairiness? Heartburn has been my one constant for the last 8 months, if there is a link I may well be having a gorilla...

39+5 here and in no mad rush as savouring maternity leave after working to nearly 38. Plus have a 10 week old puppy to settle in (yes, DH and I are officially mad).

MyNameIsSuz · 04/03/2016 05:09

Oh god, I'm fully in the csc tonight Sad I'm so tired!!!

Missdee2014 · 04/03/2016 05:24

Congratulations and well done Beautiful and Rhubarb! What a head of hair for baby Jacob! Gorgeous.

Well my wee guy still has no name and it's driving me round the bend. Every time I pick up my phone it's someone else asking if he has a name yet and all the constant asking is doing is adding pressure and making it more difficult to choose. I've decided he doesn't look like a Jamie at all. We're st the stage where everything I suggest my dp says no to as we've already discussed and said no to while I was still pregnant lol I currently want to call him Callan or Kallan but he won't go for it Angry. It's daddy's birthday today and I haven't even got him as much as a card, feel so bad!

marmiteandcheeseplease · 04/03/2016 05:56

Another member of CSC here, DD woke up in the night and DP didn't hear/wake then he settled her only for her to wake up again. Then he left the bedroom door slightly open and the cat snuck in and crawled all over me purring, so that woke me up. Then I woke up at 5.15am, trying to get back to sleep and all I could hear was the bloody cat scratching the hall carpet so I've given up.

No labours starting/babies born during the night then? Hope me is doing OK.

Looking after DD today and I have no clue what I'm going to do with her. My NCT friend is free thus afternoon so it's just the morning I need to entertain her somehow. Might bake some cheese scones with her and then do some painting but what I really need is to do something physical or she won't nap, but I can't physically handle much! Sigh.

mrsells hope Cassidys temp is better now. As someone mentioned up thread feeding every four hours is very odd. I'd offer the breast very frequently as she will turn it down if she doesn't want it. Did you say she has jaundice? With DD they told me to feed every three hours as she had jaundice so it made her sleepy, I remember obsessively writing down times etc and looking back wish I'd not bothered and just fed frequently. FX things improve for you. Also I have to say it but drs don't always never know what they are chatting about when it comes to feeding. Is there a breastfeeding support counsellor or drop in in your hospital? Might be worth speaking to them if you do feel you want better advice or checking latching etc.

MrsBenWyatt · 04/03/2016 06:45

Sher and Rhu, I got one dose of diclofenic straight after section and then choice was either paracetamol or ibroprofen Hmm. I am in no way a wimp, but I am really struggling to be as mobile as I wanted, so I have declared today is a staying in bed day!

Had the best night's sleep I have had in ages last night! Ted woke once to feed and slept the rest of the time in the bedside cot. I was sore, so woke a few times, but Greek rested today!

DD and DS1 were so excited to see him this morning - it was like Christmas! DS1 asked if the baby could live with us every night Grin

Woodenmouse · 04/03/2016 07:13

missdee I love callen but dh doesn't! Plus ds1 is Caleb so I don't think we could have Caleb and callen!! Dont put too much pressure on yourself it will suddenly come to you.

mrsb I hope your feeling a bit better now!! A bed day sounds lovely.

Mrsells how is Cassidy doing? Fx she's doing well.

RhubarbAndMustard · 04/03/2016 07:31

MrsB that seems a bit mean. I've had Oramorph throughout the night, alongside the paracetamol and ibroprufen. Just waiting for next dose then will attempt getting up and showering.

I like Callan too miss.

Really hope Me is ok.

MrsBenWyatt · 04/03/2016 07:38

I know, Rhu. At least it gave me the motivation to get discharged early!!! In my lovely clean house, snuggling in bed watching Bob the Builder before DH does the school run with all three children!

sherazade · 04/03/2016 08:19

mrsb am sure I got given a whole pack of diclofenac when discharged but maybe things have changed
I hope me and mship are ok !
Does anyone think we should have a separate antenatal thread so that new mum/newborn stuff doesn't get drowned by all the birth streaming/announcements/antenatal stuff?

Woodenmouse · 04/03/2016 08:37

sher I'm sure diclofenac isn't availableas tablets any more but I might be wrong!

MrsBenWyatt · 04/03/2016 08:38

Sher I did with my last section (and codiene). Must be 'the cuts'!

BeautifulLiar · 04/03/2016 08:44

Nancy :)

March 2016 babies - 2 here already, many more yet to come!!!
Missikat · 04/03/2016 08:47

Mrsb that's shocking! I got diclofenac tablets both after section with DS1 in 2013 and after Zach's birth because they cut my cervix so they definitely still have the tablets available. That seems wrong. Did they give you the horrible injections you have to do yourself into your tummy too?

Congrats Beaut and Rhubarb! Nancy and Jacob are lovely names and Jacob is a beaut! Glad you got another quick one beaut and didn't have to stay in long.

MrsElls, hope Cassidy is ok. I agree with the other ladies, four hourly seems far too long. I've been recommended with Zach even now not to let him go more than three hourly between feeds to keep his weight gain good. Also 80mls for a 5 day old baby as a top up is a ridiculous amount. I agree just follow your instincts. I got given similar advice when still on neonatal when establishing feeding with Zach as he'd had a couple of static weights. I knew when he'd had a good feed but they insisted I tried to give a top up and invariably he'd puke too! You know your baby.

Hope all is going ok for Me and she has her baby soon.

Dobby, sorry you're feeling rubbish.

Aah Nancy is beautiful!

missd I love Callen, I have a Caeden so pretty similar.

Thanks for all the reassurance ladies, I know mum knows best but once we have had advice from a so called professional dh insists we stick to it. I made him go home last night so I was free to feed as I pleased! Cassidy has been waking within the four hours so have been demand feeding anyway, she has had a little top up after each feed but only 20-30ml, after that she spits it out good girl knows her own mind already . They are going to weigh her at lunchtime so fx she will be a little fatty and we can go home then.
