Hi ladies, thanks Indom for the suggestion of me starting a new thread. Seeing as Zach and myself have been knocking about on antenatal since November it will be lovely to have you all joining us shortly in the baby, rather than pregnancy conversations! Bring on the March babies!!!!

Thank you all for your reassurance and handholding, feel a little bit more relaxed now and baby is moving about nicely, haven't heard from nurse yet though. My mind automatically goes to worst case scenarios and I will always remember the 1 bad story instead of the 100 good ones. Unfortunately itchiness does not correlate to levels so I have no way of knowing without tests. woodenmouse interesting to know that yours went back to normal, I didn't realize they could be elevated and go back/not be OC, fingers crossed there's hope then. indom that's the positive I'm trying to take - could well be meeting her early! Was it you who had meconium last time? They said that's a risk with OC so worried about that too, is it really scary?

Lovely to see all these baby pics and get proper newborn updates. Jamie is a lovely name miss and I love Teddy as a nn MrsB!

me I've heard of lots of occasions of labour starting before baby is fully engaged so you never know. No advice to offer on the sweeps sher but it does sound like you are really close! I would probably go for it but I am impatient.

suz hope you are not worrying too much. I hate it when you have to rely on your instincts as I'm such a worrier that my instincts are always bad so not reliable at all. Hopefully it just means that you are really, really close

Good luck for tomorrow rhubarb - how exciting!

Me624 · 02/03/2016 19:52

Thanks for the encouragement marmite! Really hope he doesn't go too far over. I like having the induction booked as a long stop though, gives me something to focus on.

Q it's funny how different policies are in different areas - my midwife told me that here they don't offer sweeps until 41 weeks, and even then they won't offer me one if the baby is not fully engaged because it means it's so unlikely to work - yet you've had one at only 2/5 engaged which is the same as I currently am!

Indom congrats on making it to term!

IndomitabIe · 02/03/2016 19:54

Glad you're feeling better, ffaux. Yes, we had meconium last time. It wasn't scary at all. I had to transfer from my local MLU to the big city hospital (by blue-light ambo, but I didn't realise we were even rushing at the time). I went through transition on the way and then they just monitored him while I went through second stage. Wasn't rushed, there didn't seem to be any undue stress. People appeared just as he came out and he was whisked across the room to be checked, but I hardly noticed and he was back with me so quickly. He, fortunately, didn't have any associated issues. Although I know babies inhaling meconium can be really bad, I was No Big Deal for us, fortunately.

Grin Me! I'm so glad to finally make it! Feel like the last one!

MrsElls · 02/03/2016 19:58

Ooh I like the name Jamie as well miss.

Anyone who's baby isn't engaged don't read too much into it, I had a midwife appointment at lunch time on Friday and baby wasn't engaged at all, was in labour at 6am the following day and she was here very shortly after. Midwife said it is fairly common with 2nd babies for them not to engage until labour.

ffauxlivia · 02/03/2016 20:13

You're not quite the last one indom - I'm term tomorrow or Friday (depending on which scan they refer to!) Thanks for info re. meconium, I'm worried how scary it will all feel but hopefully if I'm induced the waters will go whilst in hospital at least.

The nurse has booked me in for bloods tomorrow, so feel better that will have results by next Monday when I see doc, and can make a decision then.

Hope everyone is having a lovely evening!

shieldbug · 02/03/2016 20:45

Congratulations missdee and Mrsben* what gorgeous babies. How wonderful to have some more babies on the thread.

Dobby I'm due today as well; wonder who will make it first!

Sher I would go for the sweep. I've had lots in previous pg and none worked, but each time I've been optimistic and hoped it might speed things up.

faux try not to worry, but keep us posted on how you are feeling about it all as it is good to have somewhere to voice your fears.

Suz hope you aren't in as much pain now (unless you are in full blown labour of course!). Be assertive if you keep feeling in serious pain and go back to be checked just for peace of mind.

Good luck rhubarb.

Well, no baby news here. Called the hospital on Monday and they said to go in. I was having some good contractions, but when I was examined I wasn't at all dilated and my cervix was thick. They couldn't even do a sweep. Boo. They sent me home, everything fizzled out and I just felt cross and stupid (not that the mws made me feel that way; they were very good). I have been in tears several times today just feeling rubbish (sick, sore and tired) and utterly fed up. I think knowing that I don't want it to be born on the 13th (as this is ds2s birthday) is adding pressure to wanting things to happen.I've a sweep booked tomorrow, but am fully expecting bad news on the cervix front (i.e. no change since Monday).

MrsBenWyatt · 02/03/2016 20:56

Suz if the pain continues, do go back. I had an abruption in last pregnancy and the only sign was a constant pain. It was only at the very end that my stomach stayed hard and I bled, by which point DS1 and I would have not made it to the hospital in time. 1st MW I spoke to told me to go home, luckily the second kept me in and I bled out at the hospital.

Obviously, this was a very rare event, but it taught me to follow my instincts.

MyNameIsSuz · 02/03/2016 21:01

Oh no MrsB that's worried me now! She seemed so sure it wasn't an abruption because it wasn't constant and I wasn't rock hard. Have been having back pains all evening, on and off, so I think it might be early labour after all - that's how it felt last time.

Missikat · 02/03/2016 21:01

Congrats mrsb Edward is gorgeous (and love Ted/Teddy as nn) And Missdee your little one is super cute, Jamie is a lovely name too.

Ffaux, glad you're feeling a little better, it must be worrying but I agree that the States from what I understand are even more pro intervention so I'm sure they will be keeping a close eye on you.

Hope everyone, pregnant and with new babies manage to get some sleep tonight. I'm going to pass Zach over to DH at 10pm with a bottle of expressed milk (from the huge stash I amassed while he was in neonatal....although I've already donated over 13 litres of the stuff to the Birmingham milk bank!) so I can try and get an hour and a half or two hours sleep before DH comes to bed. It seems to have been working well so far and Zach doesn't seem fussed if his milk comes direct from the source or from a bottle! I know I'll probably be getting bugger all between midnight and 5am!

sherazade · 02/03/2016 21:16

Thanks for the advice everyone . I know common sense dictates I should go for the sweep but I think I'm not over all the issues I had with dd1s high intervention birth which ended up being traumatic for me as opposed to dd2 who was born at 43 weeks which was crazy but worked out completely different for me and was a healing experience. Irrationally I'm making links between any sort of intervention at this stage and a negative outcome but then I was scarred by dd1s birth for a long time and think I still am. It wasn't because of the interventions that things went wrong but I'm making connections where I possibly shouldn't. Anyway I'll drag it out to forty weeks and take each day as it comes- ive still for 5 days to decide about my consultants sweep and if not I'll get my sis to do one. I'm a lot more comfortable with her anyway. Sorry for the long ramble !
missdee what a scrumptious cutie you have there!
Good luck rhubarb and sympathies to suz

Pannacott · 02/03/2016 22:56

I had a sweep at 38 + 5 last time, and it worked for me, but they said it had looked very favourable. I had a high Bishop score (?) which assesses things like effacement, cervix position etc. Sher, for me I really wanted a sweep to avoid chemical induction, as I was worried about 'cascade of interventions'.

On an unrelated note, Suz, I also had a placental abruption and had no vaginal bleeding. I was in incredible pain but not sure if that was because of back to back labour.

MrsBenWyatt · 02/03/2016 23:12

Suz please don't worry, but don't feel like you can't get a second opinion if you aren't reassured.

Fingers crossed it is early labour and you will be holding your baby soon Flowers

MrsElls · 03/03/2016 03:24

Wow missi donating all that milk is a brilliant thing to do, think how many little ones have had a great start thanks to you.

Me624 · 03/03/2016 03:34

Oh my goodness girls, I have just woken up for a wee in the night and lost some of my plug/had a show - plus I think my waters may have started to go? It felt like something started leaking when I stood up. My back is feeling a bit crampy but not sure if I am just imagining it! I've put on a pad and gone back to bed but now I can't sleep ... even though I know it could still be days from a show, at least it's a sign something is happening!!

maybebabybee · 03/03/2016 03:41

Ooh exciting me!! Sounds like things are definitely happening for you.

So jealous - no signs here at 39+2. Bet I go massively over.

Me624 · 03/03/2016 04:10

Ah maybe I'm so glad someone else is up! Although sorry as you must be in CSC.

I am 39+6 today and had absolutely zero signs that anything was coming. This is definitely it - the back pain is coming in very clear waves and waters are slowly leaking. I didn't mean to but I woke DH up when I was looking for a pad and now neither of us can get back to sleep! I need to try as I won't be able to once it gets more painful!

RhubarbAndMustard · 03/03/2016 04:24

Me how exciting! It definitely sounds like you are on your way!! We could be birth buddies today Grin.

I woke up at 2:30 and think at least some of my waters have gone too. Wet PJ's but only a small mark on the bed. I only had a trickle with DS too. Like you, I've stuck a pad on and am trying to sleep but no luck. Luckily no pains for me yet. Im due in at 7:30 anyway so hoping nothing kicks off until then.

Keep us posted Me and hand holding! Thanks

maybebabybee · 03/03/2016 04:25

Yes but I don't really mind as on mat leave so can nap in the day :)

I would definitely try to sleep to conserve energy but I'm not sure I'd be able to either in your position!

Fx you have a baby very soon Smile

ffauxlivia · 03/03/2016 04:32

Oh me good luck, sounds like it's happening!! Good luck for the morning too rhubarb, hope you both get some rest!! Looking forward to baby pics tomorrow :)

Me624 · 03/03/2016 04:33

Eek Rhubarb! Good luck to you too and thanks maybe for the hand holding.

I was expecting back pain given the midwife confirmed yesterday that baby is back to back but is is strange, no pain in my belly or front at all, it's completely in my back.

RhubarbAndMustard · 03/03/2016 04:43

Sounds just like my first labour Me. All the pain was in my back. A warm shower head on your back might help in early stages.

BeautifulLiar · 03/03/2016 04:51

Me and others I'm so glad you're awake, I don't feel "right" at all. How are you getting on? I'm definitely having waves of pain and have just had a poo Blush but I can't imagine going into labour 5 days early! Have tried to sleep through it but can't. Going to shower in a min. Sort of hope this isn't it as I'm not sure what to do with the kids if I have to go to hospital! And it's their cousin's first birthday today so SIL might be mad at me

maybebabybee · 03/03/2016 04:52

Ooh how exciting, there could be three new babies here before long! Fx beaut and rhubarb Grin
