Hi ladies, thanks Indom for the suggestion of me starting a new thread. Seeing as Zach and myself have been knocking about on antenatal since November it will be lovely to have you all joining us shortly in the baby, rather than pregnancy conversations! Bring on the March babies!!!!

Edward John was born at 9.02am, weighing 8lb 8oz. He has had a few feeds already. Baby is doing great. Op went well, but I am struggling to keep any food down (feel great apart from that).

Massive congratulations MissDee and MrsBen! Birthday twinsSmile

ffauxlivia · 02/03/2016 14:28

Oh wow congratulations MissDee and MrsBen, two gorgeous babies there!!

I need some handholding, I'm having huge anxiety at the moment as found out yesterday I have mild obstetric cholestasis :( I've been having an itchy belly for weeks and they kept telling me it was normal, but I asked for liver tests last Friday and my bile acids came back at just over 14. Anything over 10 is considered positive diagnosis, and over 40 is very dangerous for baby. I've read that levels can double/triple within days so massively panicking about the stillbirth risks after 37 weeks, which is when they normally induce for OC.

As the levels are low-ish they don't seem too worried and just want me to repeat the test on my next appointment on Monday, but I won't get the results for a couple of days, which means I'll be almost 38 weeks then. Of course I've found stories where women waited until 38 weeks to be induced but lost the baby at 36 or 37 weeks. Their heart can just stop suddenly and you may not get warning. I can't stop worrying about her and work is hell as I can't concentrate on anything, and need to get everything ready for my cover. The nurse is calling me back today and I'm going to ask if I can at least push the blood test forward to tomorrow so I have the results on Monday to discuss with doctor.

Also I have subclinical hypothyroidism but now that seems the least of my worries!

Sorry to bring the thread down, I just don't know how to stay calm. Now I know how scared felt when she just wanted the baby out.

Hope everyone else is okay and Suz hope you get some answers - that sounds horrible Flowers

maybebabybee · 02/03/2016 14:39

Congrats MrsB!!

Ffaux so sorry to hear you're having a worrying time. Please try not to jump to the worst case scenario. My best friend's sister had very severe oc in both pregnancies and both her babies were born perfectly healthy. Try to stay positive, it's been caught early and they will look after you Flowers

Madmamma39 · 02/03/2016 14:46

Trying to keep up!!

Congrats to missdee and mrsB beautiful pic and love the name. Look forward to hearing baby missdee's name.

No different here, crampy but that's it and dreamt I was having regular contractions unfortunately it was only a dream.Hmm

Yesterday managed to clip my tyre on the car and smashed it so 3 hours later, a grumpy toddler (and teenager) and 4 new tyres finally got to where we were going to... Today I thought I'd have a relaxing afternoon while toddler slept but have our decorator in who can't half speak! So now just waiting for toddler to wake after being spoken at for 1.5 hours!!

RhubarbAndMustard · 02/03/2016 15:38

Oh MrsB he is gorgeous. Well done you! Lovely name too. Can't wait to hear baby misdees.

Ffaux that sounds stressful but try not to panic. Will you be more itchy if your levels increase? Can you ask them what they'll do in that scenario so you can get faster testing if needs be.

Mad stressful day for you too and you could probably have done without the expense of all those tyres.

Just back from my pre op with my tablets to take tonight and tomorrow. I'm now the first on the elective list so hoping to be in quickly tomorrow morning like MrsB. Feels a bit surreal to know I'll be meeting my baby tomorrow. Ive decided on chicken burgers for my last meal with a naughty toblerone pudding for afters.

MrsElls · 02/03/2016 15:42

Congrats MrsB he is adorable! I was very pleased to be handed a cuppa after I gave birth but managed to keep it down for probably less than 60 seconds, luckily dh managed to get me a sick bowl and take baby just in time!

ffaux I can't imagine how worried you must feel but try to take comfort that you are being monitored, ask for the test to be brought forward to give you some reassurance and stop googling, nothing good ever comes from Dr google.

I think it was vroc who asked about hospital bag items, the one thing I forgot was a travel change mat so had to keep changing Cassidy either on my bed or in her crib.... luckily we had no accidents possibly because she peed all over me when we were having skin to skin after she was born

Woodenmouse · 02/03/2016 15:51

He's gorgeous mrsben and a lovely name too!!

ffaux I had the same thing, was told they were going to induce me. I was in a massive panic. The next day they retested and my levels had gone back to normal and now they are just monitoring me. Please try not to panic!!

I saw the midwife today and I was offered a sweep. I turned it down as ds1 has hoplspital appointment tomorrow at 9.20 and I want to be able to take him although my dm has offered to do it. The midwife told me that if I felt ready then I could ring the birth unit and ask them to do it tomorrow afternoon. Dh really wants it done tomorrow (he's well aware that it's my choice and he wouldn't force me to.do anything I'm not happy with). I just feel like I don't want to inconvenience the birth unit iyswim so I'm not sure what to do.

sherazade · 02/03/2016 16:30

ffaux how very stressful for you hopefully things will get moved forward, don't worry about venting here that's what we're all here for.
woodenmouse I'm similarly wondering about getting a sweep. I hate any sort of interference and unless there's a medical need really want baby to come when he's ready ( and i think I tend to have longer gestationa anyway which surely is for a reason?) but :
Consultant is offering me a sweep at 40 weeks. Some say a sweep won't work unless you're actually ready anyway and no harm done
My sister gave me a pelvic exam today said am 2cm dilated and 50% effaced and said baby's head is super low and she's pretty sure a sweep would set me off
I'm exhausted from the almost daily false labour, stabbing pains in my cervix, horrendous heartburn, intense all day period pain etc. What would you guys do? Am 39+2 tomorrow.

Me624 · 02/03/2016 16:31

Congrats MrsBen! I love Edward, it was my top choice but DH wasn't so keen, we might use it as a middle name though!

ffaux try not to panic, if they were really worried they would have booked you in to be induced already, I get the feeling they are even more interventionist in the US than they are here so seems unlikely they'd leave you to be retested if it was a concern.

I saw the midwife this morning (am 39+5) and baby me has done exactly nothing since my last appointment. He has not moved from his back to back position at all despite all the kneeling on all fours I've been doing and he is still only 2/5 engaged. We have booked my induction at 40+12 as a precaution and I will be seeing the midwife again at 41+0 for a sweep if he has managed to engage himself by then. I have a feeling I'm going to be in this for the long haul!

Woodenmouse · 02/03/2016 16:50

sherazade I'm 40+2 so I'm definitely getting desperate!! Ds1 was born a week early so I was expecting ds2 to be early too. If I was you are really sufferingi would consider it, especially as its not supposed to work unless the baby is ready yet anyway. I'm really tempted to have the sweep tomorrow I just don't want to inconvenience the birth unit, but I guess they won't do it unless they have time etc.

Paperblank · 02/03/2016 17:00

MrsBen he's absolutely gorgeous! Congratulations Flowers

ffaux Offering a hand to hold. I'm sorry you've got OC to worry about and hope you manage to get a bit of reassurance from the nurse.

Rhu you must be soooo excited, enjoy your toblerone pudding!

Wooden & Sher I had a sweep about 24 hours after I'd had the pessary. MW said it would "kick start" labour as although I was having contractions I wasn't in established labour. The thing for me was that it seemed a bit pointless as I was being induced so labour was going to happen sweep or no sweep! I do feel for you though - it's horrible feeling so exhausted, I was 38 + 1 at induction and more than ready to have my baby ((Hug))

Me you never know! Long haul? Maybe, maybe not, bounce on a ball, drink raspberry leaf tea (didn't do anything for DH...ha ha) but until then feet up, chocolate and chillax Grin Brew Chocolate.

I'm off for a kip. Martha was a monkey last night and would not sleep! (She's been asleep all bloody day though Hmm)

MyNameIsSuz · 02/03/2016 17:40

So I'm definitely not in labour - I called the midwife unit to ask about it and they asked me to come in, had a good feel and a listen and everything seems ok. Checked my cervix and said the baby's very low but I'm not in labour yet, though I might go soon. So no idea what the pain is. She said the thing they'd worry about is placental abruption, but it didn't feel like that as my stomach wasn't firm enough or tender to the touch and I'm not having any bleeding. She said if it becomes constant, the movements get less or I get any bleeding to call the hospital, but otherwise just go home and rest. It's so hard when you have to trust your instincts or gut feeling but don't know what's normal and what isn't!

marmiteandcheeseplease · 02/03/2016 17:43

Congrats mrsben, lovely name as well Smile

me I'm also convinced baby is back to back tho none of the midwives have told me position other than head down and GP couldn't even tell which way baby was up Hmm so who knows. With DD she was back to back and never more than 2/5 engaged and I went into labour at 40+3 so you may not be in for the long haul!

Sher I'd go for the sweep since it only makes a difference if you're ready, and since you're getting sick of the false labour etc.

Sorry to hear Martha was up all night paper, have to say I'm not looking forward to the night wakings if DD2 is anywhere near as bad as DD1! Hope you've managed to get some rest anyway.

ffaux that sounds very stressful but at least it's been picked up and you're being monitored. From what I've read there isn't a clear link with stillbirth so try not to panic (easier said than done, I know). FX things improve. I do know someone who had it and was induced late on, and her baby/she was fine - I think it's far more common for things to be fine than not and luckily your levels sound quite low.

MrsBenWyatt · 02/03/2016 17:43

FFaux I hope you get some answers soon. I posted a while ago about the BRAN model of asking questions (what are the benefits/risks etc). Might be worth asking your MW or consultant?

Edward is feeding like a dream and I am so excited about the 'big' two meeting him tonight.

March 2016 babies - 2 here already, many more yet to come!!!
Missdee2014 · 02/03/2016 17:54

We are still not 100% on name yet but thinking towards Jamie. Daddy and the kids vote Jamie but I'm not 100% sure yet. He's doing fab!

Edward is beautiful! I love the classic names. Beautiful baby

MrsBenWyatt · 02/03/2016 18:20

He is lovely, Miss! Fab name, which was on my list!

We are debating Ted/Teddy/Ed/Ned for nn, but sticking to his 'Sunday name' for now.

I am very excited to say that we are on a ward ON OUR OWN!!! So it is super peaceful. It won't last, but at least our first day has been calm!

QforCucumber · 02/03/2016 18:23

sher I had a sweep last Friday and did nothing, had a look through my notes today and it does say that cervix is very posterior and closed but is 2/5 engaged, soft and 1cm thick so think that's stopped anything working with it.

These baby pictures are making me soooo broody for mine - jealous lots!

IndomitabIe · 02/03/2016 18:24

Congratulations MrsBen! He's beautiful! (Got to second pic now, he's so cute!)

Sorry to hear Suz is uncomfortable. Hope you're feeling better by now.

Oh no, ffaux. Though it does sound low at the moment. Try not to panic. I'm sure they'll induce at just the right moment for you. You'll get to have your baby sooner!

Thanks for the tip, MrsE. Think I've got the change-bag mat in the car already!

Sher, if it was me I'd have the sweep! Like you say, if you're not ready, it'll do nothing, but it looks like it might finally get things moving for you.

Ah, Paper, they do that, don't they! Hope you managed to get a nap! I used to tell myself that this is what maternity leave is for. Not cleaning or anything, but recovering from no sleep!

Oh, Missdee! Look at his cute little face! Thanks

Nothing exciting going on here, did I mention I'm finally 37 weeks?! Tired and confused and uncomfortable but generally keeping on. A couple of people have started saying they think this one will arrive soon. Though I'd love that to happen, I don't think it actually will!

I finally made a list of all the marking I need to do. It wasn't as terrifying a job as I thought. I figure if I do end up going early at least I can leave a list of what's outstanding (and where to find it!). Which should be more helpful than just abandoning it. Need to make sure I only bring home one thing at a time, though.

vroc81 · 02/03/2016 19:05

Congratulations mrsb he's a beaut, and an excellent name choice, that was my grandads first and middle name and might have gone for one of those ourselves.

missdee he's also lovely! I like Jamie but make sure your happy you're going to be shouting it the most! Wink

missi yes we were originally due date buddies, on the 7th.? I've just finished work so can't decide if Sod's law means I am now going to have to wait two weeks or she'll recognise I'm done and pop on out? Couldn't have left work with less interest from my bosses and team, a 'good luck and see you sometime' was about as much excitement as they mustered...

Thanks for all the extra bag advice I'm going to check mine tmrw as now paranoid I've left big pants out or something as well!
