Oh mzzzf sounds horrendous!

FattyNinjaOwl · 11/02/2016 08:23

Morning all. So what's today's plan?
mzzzf the group is secret so can't be searched for, you will have to PM your details to dozy to be added.

Giraffescandance1 · 11/02/2016 08:28

Hi all

Dozy thanks for the FB group!

random I use a big cellular blanket on my top half and a duvet for waist down whilst co sleeping so I'm never cold.

Sleep was going wonderfully for me until a few days ago when baby giraffe started waking every hour or so Shock I think it may be teething or separation anxiety, please let it be short lived!

Hope everyone's ok!

kbro79 · 11/02/2016 08:29

Something in the air last night. DS was doing the whole wake every sleep cycle thing. Zzzzzzzz

EffinIneffable · 11/02/2016 08:36

Sorry for the crap nights mzzzf and tindel. We're slowly moving stretching out gaps between waking to feed every 1.5 to 2 hours to 2.5 and sometimes 3 hours, but it's also coinciding with increasingly early getting up for the day. We broke the 7am barrier this morning, which is not bad at all compared to a lot of babbers but I've got used to the day but actually starting til at least 8.30. Well at least we can make morning baby groups now!

DS is 6 months tomorrow and we've been half arsed trying baby led weaning for a week. Not convinced anything has actually been swallowed yet though - he just bangs food on the table with the occasional lick! Not sure I've got the patience, might chuck in the odd puree to see if he prefers that.

rrra · 11/02/2016 08:39

Yep, waking every hour here too. But looks like both bottom teeth have punched through the gum now. Maybe he'll be a bit better? Still planning on giving sleep training a go next weekend.

I'll be brave and join and FB group as I don't want you all to leave and go there!

loveandsmiles · 11/02/2016 08:55

Morning all😄

Hi coconut welcome! I don't have a cot here - co-sleep. I think I am one of the only ones on here that hate Lidl and Aldi!!

fanby your hols look fab hope you're all having a great time

dozy yeah to a night away

siani Envy your big sleep

effin I have a bad sleeper here too - lies on me and feeds all night - it WILL get better!!

frolic hope you ate ALL the macaroons😂

slow I have been in no hurry to wean - can't face the mess!! Have tried a few purées but babyloves not too interested yet.

Off to Mumafit - can hardly move from the Body Pump class I did yesterday so should be fun!!

dozy pm'd you re Facebook

EffinIneffable · 11/02/2016 08:58

So early start means nap 1 is no under way. DS does micro naps for max 40 mins so we'll need at least 5 today to see us through till bedtime at 7 without too much grumpiness.

Rra what's your sleep training strategy gonna be? I've always said I'd wait until DS was officially 6 months before trying any intervention, but am considering my options now. I have the fear that I'm still gonna be breastfeeding a 3 year old multiple times a night and that it won't just sort itself out (which is what I would love to happen).

Don't all desert the original mugabes here too will you?

sianihedgehog · 11/02/2016 09:00

Sorry to hear about all the crap nights. We've had two decent ones in a row and I'm daring to hope that it's a real change. Mostly I think his teeth have stopped hurting so much, but I've also changed the way I'm putting him down to sleep slightly. Instead of feeding him and waiting until he's deeply asleep and trying my damnedest to keep him asleep while transferring him, I'm keeping on stroking his face and swapping boobs to keep him feeding and then trying to transfer him immediately when he starts to turn away so I'll let him sleep. It means he's sometimes needing a bit of bum patting and usually rolls himself about a bit to get comfy in the cot, but he seems to be self settling when he wakes. Now I've said that he'll obviously be up every 20 minutes all night.

Giraffescandance1 · 11/02/2016 09:02

loves I'm not a fan of Aldi and Lidl either, anytime I've gone in one I can't find the foods I like or the brands I like (eg douwe egberts decaf is one of my necessities!) and the queues at the tils are too much for me...

Recently I discovered Morrisons and their lovely bakery, cheap fruit and veg and fish etc so that's my current favourite supermarket.

FattyNinjaOwl · 11/02/2016 09:05

effin no one will desert MN (well I won't!)

Giraffescandance1 · 11/02/2016 09:06

effin if night feeding is getting too much then with dd1 we sorted it at about 15 months by having her share a bed with her dad for a couple of nights...she couldn't smell the milk and so only woke a couple of times, cried briefly and her cuddled/rocked her and then we were able to co sleep again on the third night and she never asked for a night feed again! I carried on bf a couple of times per day until she was two. It seemed to be a kind way to stop the crazy night feeding, I'll probably wait until dd2 is one to do this though I think anytime from six months is ok!

CraftyPenguin · 11/02/2016 09:39

Delurks

Ahh I'm gutted you're all moving over to Facebook. I found your post natal thread the day after I got home from hospital and felt like crap, and reading others felt the same made me feel like I wasn't going mad! Lol. I've sporadically popped in and out reading the threads, always been to shy to post though 🙈 Just wanted to wish you all the best of luck with your little mugabes! x

Tindel · 11/02/2016 09:55

Urgh, this might have been the worst night on months. J finally went to sleep after a 3am feed (2 attempts to transfer), up again at 6, over an hour spent feeding and is wide awake and farting like a trooper now. I feel ruined and that I'm just making his sleep worse with everything I do! Off to a weaning workshop this afternoon, so hoping to start getting food into him with make him sleep better, that's a thing, right? RIGHT??!!

Planning to stay on MN as well as FB - the way its going at the moment, I need a lot of places to vent Sad

FattyNinjaOwl · 11/02/2016 09:57

crafty we will be staying here too, don't worry about that!

Coconut0il · 11/02/2016 10:16

crafty I've been exactly the same, have been reading and finally posted a couple of days ago. Hope the ladies on this thread know how much support they've been even to people like us not posting. Reading has helped me through when I've felt down. Really hope fatty is right and you don't all disappear to fb.

Sorry to all those having rubbish sleep. DS has always had a better first half of the night, about 3 or 4 he always decides he can't sleep without being latched on. I'm rubbish on little sleep so I'm often in bed at 8pm just to get some hours in. Feel a bit sorry for DS1 as I'm usually in bed before him. At least he has some 1:1 time with DP. To those worrying I feed DS2 to sleep just as I fed DS1 to sleep and he has never had sleep issues, just naturally changed to fall asleep with a story and cuddle. Effin I find better night sleep means early wake up, have seen 6am a few times this week... Trying to be positive and think will be handy for when I go back to work!

loves I don't know why I got one Confused Maybe so it looked like he was sleeping in his own bed! Think I was always going to co sleep, just love the cuddles! Do go to Aldi sometimes for baby events but don't really like how they have to throw the shopping at you!

DS2 is almost 6 months now so have started a few purees, he seems to be enjoying them. Hopefully he'll be better than DS1 who would only eat yoghurtShock He'll eat almost anything now though!

Now to decide... chocolate or cereal for breakfast??

FattyNinjaOwl · 11/02/2016 10:23

Mugabeans! Help me!
I have the opportunity to buy a pram that I've wanted for years. (Graco symbio) for £50 off fb. Do I buy it? Or do I buy an umbrella fold buggy (either chicco echo, or mamas and papas swirl)

Coconut0il · 11/02/2016 10:28

Cross post tindel Please don't feel it's anything you're doing. Some babies are just terrible sleepers and you have to do anything you can to get through. Really miss evenings with DP and DS1 when I'm in bed early but things do change quickly and it won't be forever. I know that doesn't help when you're up in the night for the hundredth time but I just tell myself it will pass. Enjoy your weaning workshopSmile

kbro79 · 11/02/2016 11:26

Don't worry. I am too addicted to the AIBU board to leave mn plus posting here. It is v nice to hear the board has others. It has been a life saver for me.

Fatty just googled the pram - looks good!!!

kbro79 · 11/02/2016 11:26

Meant 'love' posting here.

FattyNinjaOwl · 11/02/2016 11:38

I've asked if its still available. He's not got back to me yet. I really want it! I just really like the flippy handle. I remember playing with it in toys r us when I was pregnant with DD, but I couldn't afford £300, then extra for the carrycot and car seat.
I'm getting the pram with seat unit and the carrycot. (Well, if he let's me buy it I will!) Obviously don't need the carrycot anymore, but he wants it all to go together and at £50 I'm not complaining.

MaGratgarlik1983 · 11/02/2016 11:56

Buy it!!

Frolicacid · 11/02/2016 12:40

But it fatty!

everythingispeachy · 11/02/2016 13:44

Buy it. You can always sell it again. I have just started using my pram this week as the sling was getting a bit sore for longer walks. We have an uppababy vista but it is huge. I might sell it and transfer to a buggy soon but I do love how it faces me and is high up. Argh decisions!

I won't be leaving mumsnet either. I had been lurking for years but this group was the one that finally got me posting.

Effing we are the same re weaning. Ds is 6 months on sat and 26 weeks today and have been half arsed blw since Sunday. Think he has ingested 3 crumbs of toast, half a gram of broccoli and several kicks of carrot. He did lap up the hummus though so think I might try some purees too.

Sleep is also crap but not as bad as some. He went down at 8 then up at 11, 2, 4, 5, 5.40 and 6.30 for the day. I am sure ds1 was once waking once a night by this stage Envy He'll get there but it's hard to remember that at 5 am and all you want to do is curl up in bed.

CraftyPenguin · 11/02/2016 14:33

Glad you'll still be around on here :) goes back to lurking
