Nooooo frolic don't be poorlies again!! You're being quite greedy with the illnesses (as are you fatty!!).

I promise not to say a word about M.A.M. I've managed to not read any spoilers etc myself so don't want to ruin it for me or others!! It takes me about 3 days to watch one Ep, can only really do it when she's feeding as I need to concentrate and as DH doesn't watch it feels mean to put it on in the evenings lol.

I think tonight has been better on the sleep front but im so tired I can't really tell anymore. This is the first feed since half 10 but I think I've been up and down settling a few times as has DH. He gave me some lovely compliments tonight of how well I'm doing which I really needed atm to be honest. C'mon everyone, we can do this! Nearly the weekend, go team Mugabe!! xx

loveandsmiles · 22/01/2016 06:46

Morning allSmile

Had not a bad night - a 3 hr stretch from 9-12 then every 2 hours - been better this week.

clstow sounds like your first day back at work went really well for you and DP😀

mzzzf your 'dirty' dinner had my mind boggling until I've worked out its not something involving food and your partner Blush

siani you deserve a Star for not murdering your DP

tindel what did you see at the cinema? Nice just to get out and do something adult although I think I would fall asleep in a dark cinema!!

Survived another Mumafit class yesterday - Hit and Ripped!! Can barely move this morning and even struggled to lift my arms to do my hair!! Off to get my nails done today - a nice treat to end the week. Fabby Friday to all xxx

Dozygirl · 22/01/2016 07:16

Love the idea of mumafit loves. Wish they did something like that round by me. I've been on my exercise bike that dp got me about 5 times and that was in the first couple of weeks. I just can't be arsed by the evening with getting all sweaty and hot.

I smashed making a murderer the other day. It's so sad!!! That prosecutor with the moustache just freaked me out . Horrible man. I wonder how these people can sleep at night.

I'm having fun doing baby led weaning with Piper but it's so messy. Even something u think won't be messy she ends up getting everywhere haha. I've not read any books or anything yet so just winging it. I did spoon feed her a little bit of petis filous (spelling?!) Yesterday. Think she liked the taste of that heehee. I actually like spoon feeding a baby, I just can't be arsed making purees so blw is working for us so far. She doesn't really swallow much though. Just chews it all up into a mush and spits it out. Apart from the organix carrot sticks,,she swallows those and wants more haha. I don't think she's ready for full meals yet so still just using it as a bit of fun to play with food.

Tindel · 22/01/2016 07:35

Morning all - last night went quite well. Came back from dancing to see J sat on DH's lap transfixed by his disco ball. Apparently he'd guzzled all of the expressed milk and was still hungry and not happy about the lack of milk available. DH was feeling ill, which turns him into a grumpy irrational child at the best of times. Fortunately, once we took J upstairs, he fed from me and passed out just after 11. Woke up again at 645 and is fast asleep on me again! Can't be bothered to move him, so this is me awake for the day Confused

I went to see the new Will Ferrell film - it was ok, although it had quite a good soundtrack, so J and I were grooving along at times. I had J on my lap the whole time and he had fun crinkling my cake wrapper, so no chance of a sneaky kip, I'm afraid.

mzzzf · 22/01/2016 08:47

Dirty dinner was last of Christmas Brie melted on white bread toast with caramelised onion relish underneath the melted cheese - YUMMO! No such gastronomic rudies with DH loves!! 😁

Sssssh with the mam talk!! I'm on the first episode, trying to watch when she naps! So it's taking forever!! 😁

Siani - you're DH is a knob!! How did you not kill him?! 😁

Ahhh balls I've forgotten what else I've read!

Last night was tough. She didn't properly settle until 11.30 and then was up for milk two hours later. Then every 2 hrs from there until wake up at 7.30am which is an hour later than her normal 6.30 which has to mean the poor tyke was tired by the later bedtime. Think she was harder to settle as I reduced the solids I was giving her yesterday due to the giant vomit previously... Back on normal today I reckon!

DH is home later - yay!!!

Absolutely horrendous night. DS was up every hour and dragging himself over to jam all my blankets in his mouth while crying. Got him back down after DP left for work and was just dozing off myself when he dragged himself over and bit my hand with those sharp new teeth. I chatted to him after retrieving my hand and he reared up and nutted me in the nose. Think this may be the end of co sleeping for us!! I'm going to detach the cot and put up the side tonight. I'm all for snuggling but wet blankets, biting, and nutting me in the face can piss off!

sianihedgehog · 22/01/2016 09:21

Oh, and DP didn't get his last paycheck from his old job, so we've got £250 less than our mortgage payment for the month. And we haven't got ANY baby proofing done and I'm giving DS about 2 weeks MAXIMUM before he's fully mobile. :(

mzzzf · 22/01/2016 09:24

Bloody hell Siani that's like cage fighting or wrestle mania!! Hope you got him in a headlock and then pounded the mattress for the win 😁
Maybe time for the side to go up, he sounds pretty determined though!!

OP posts:
mzzzf · 22/01/2016 09:25

Fuck! Just seen your lady one. Money worries are the shits!! We're still super frugal right now. Will you be able to get the pay back?

OP posts:
sianihedgehog · 22/01/2016 09:36

Believe me, it was tempting to get him in a headlock! I settled for pinning him to the changing mat and changing his nappy. Which was TERRIBLE because he couldn't see the cat.

No idea if we'll get it back! At least next month I get a bigger paycheck as I'm out of maternity leave and on holiday. Hopefully with that and his pay for the new job we'll have enough to catch up on the mortgage. :( I'm debating putting some baby proofing kit on the credit card because he's SO CLOSE to mobile.

Fanby · 22/01/2016 11:28

Ouch and ouch Siani!!! :(

Mzzf - your dinner sounds SO amazing!

First aid course cancelled so stayed and chatted to other mums anyway before sllloooowly walking home. DH served lunch at 10am?! Tomatoes are clearly a fave so far...

Lilydreams · 22/01/2016 11:39

So I have just finished reading and DS has right on cue woke up from his 25 minute nap FFS I give up!!! I might get to post again at some point before he turns 1!!!

Lilydreams · 22/01/2016 11:40

Argh I've just seen another whole page I've missed too ill be back!! 😂

kbro79 · 22/01/2016 11:47

Some really useful and helpful advice about sleeping!! www.emilywrites.co.nz/how-to-get-your-baby-to-sleep/

Ah siani that sucks. But my god you are a good wife for not killing your DH over the waking to fed thing. No jury would have convicted you of that.

My Dh is always stressing about money but despite that has announced we need a sleep consultant to come in. Seriously thoughts on this? My instinct is massive waste of money as we can either a)trial and error the endless advice online about sleep or b) keep going on know that at some point it will get better.

Rights DS is finally asleep on my lap after yet another massive failed attempt at cot napping so going to treat myself to Eastenders.

mzzzf · 22/01/2016 11:53

A sleep consultant?! You mean snake oil salesman. Unless there's something medically amiss with your DS Kbro then they're not going to give you some magic trick for doing it. Sleep is developmental. Well that's what I keep telling myself. Ahh fuck it, get the consultant in and tell us what the magic bullet is!! 😁😁
God what if you pay that money and they don't tell you anything new or anything you've not tried. Or what if they say 'you just have to wait it'll get better'. There's deffo money to be made out of sleep deprived parents!!

Lily - don't worry about replying just tell us what's new with you.

OP posts:
mzzzf · 22/01/2016 11:56

Sorry if that's a bit ranty Kbro!
I think all these points on sleep make you feel, like you said before, that because she is not sleeping then it's something wrong that I must be doing. And I genuinely don't know how I'd feel if I was told it was my fault...

OP posts:
sianihedgehog · 22/01/2016 12:00

Kbro that article is amazing! I'm dying! Grin
I agree with you about the sleep consultant. They sleep when they are ready and the entire sleep industry is just cashing in on how overtired parents get from being expected to keep to a non baby schedule. You don't hear about 10 year olds needing to be fed to sleep or getting up every hour.

mzzzf · 22/01/2016 12:24

That article is a giggle!!!
"I've slept through the night since birth" 😁

OP posts:
loveandsmiles · 22/01/2016 12:54

kbro no, no, no to a sleep consultant - I personally think you will be throwing money away. I hate to come across as a know it all but honestly I'm on baby number 6 - surely if there was a magic cure I'd have been let in on the secret by now??? All of mine have slept through by 10-12 months and I co-sleep, feed to sleep and any other whatever's to sleep you're advised not to do!! The only sleep programme that has worked for friends is controlled crying but that is just something that is not for me although I know it does work for some. You know your baby best, you don't need to pay someone to tell you what to do.

fanby Molly looks so grown up sitting having 'lunch' - babyloves nowhere near able to sit or interested in eating - she is very lazy and loves boob too much! siani can't believe your DS is nearly mobile - yikes!

loveandsmiles · 22/01/2016 12:55

Sorry kbro just read back and sounds ranty - didn't mean it too!! Mean to sound supportive - you can do it!

kbro79 · 22/01/2016 13:04

Snake oil salesman made me laugh so much!!! You should write a blog. You'd be way funnier than a lot of them think they are.
Exactly what I think. They'll also tell me what I already know which is he needs to self settle and we need to reach the parenting goal of 'dowsy but awake'.

Pleased you liked the sleep advice. Made me laugh lots too. Esp the bit about being on your death bed but actually on the floor as your 59 year old is still in your bed.

kbro79 · 22/01/2016 13:08

No no loves is v supportive and totally what I was thinking anyway. Really appreciate your advice on it!!! Plus a love reading a good rant whatever the topic.

kbb23 · 22/01/2016 16:06

hello aug mums. ive missed lots since been back at work need to try and read back and catch up.i need some advice from thosee that are weaning is it to give ds (hes 5months just) cows milk in his food?? tia.

MaGratgarlik1983 · 22/01/2016 21:08

Evening all. I think cows milk is ok in foods from six months. No to the sleep therapist!! Aww look at molly how much lovely hair! Have decided here to try to get morning naps in cot but then not to stress too much after that. Thinking we're going to put DS in his own room tomorrow as we are literally all waking each other up in the night now! And he will just be across the hall. Happy weekend (and DH / dp taking over duties!) all!

Slowifeandthegrumpydwarfs · 22/01/2016 21:30

Evening all,

Thanks everyone for the supportive comments about grumpy 1. I have arranged a meeting with her teacher for Monday after school and my Mum is going to have the girls. I did have a brief chat after school yesterday and her teacher seemed surprised when I said she was exhibiting signs of stress - apparently at school she is the epitome of the perfect little school girl. I suggested that might be exactly why she is then losing the plot at home! You can't be that perfect all day long and it not take its toll on you, especially at the age of 4!!!

Really interesting loves to hear about your DD and the fact that you have managed to get her pulled back a year. Good on you for fighting so hard for what you know to be right for your child. It is so easy to get overwhelmed by the system once they are in formal education - as DH and I are finding out now Sad.

Right, enough about us, interesting to hear what is going on with you lot.

kbro sleep consultant? I'm with everyone else. Just no. You are totally fine, as is your DS. These DHs do like a neat 'fix' to a 'problem' though, don't they? I think that has been the steepest learning curve for Mr Grumpy, he is one of life's practical types and it drives him nuts that children can't simply be 'fixed' like one of his old VWs Grin

frolic Very much hoping you are not ill again and glad to hear that DS has managed a motion (or two Grin).

fanby chatting to other Mum's is a great use of your time. You can always make up for the cancelled first aid course by watching this

kbb how's it going back at work? Hope you are well? Cows milk fine for cooking with post 6 months, then drinking at 1 year. Use full fat (blue top) until they are two.

clstow how was day 2??

Am sure there is much more that I should be responding too. Sorry to anyone I have missed. Right off to watch 'Capital'. Nighty night.
