Our babies are teething, screaming and generally not sleeping, but we're still JS-ing - it's Just Mumming 10!

Welcome, welcome, welcome to the 10th Just Mumming thread...following the trials and tribulations of our babies, following the success of Just Shagging in getting us viroids upduffed!

For those that don't know, a 'viroid' is from the original JSing thread 1, where someone was trying to type ladies (in reference to all the JSing ladies), but their phone decided to call us all viroids instead!

The name stuck and we've been the JSing viroids ever since.

The 43rd grads thread is here

The thread we have graduated from is HERE in its 56th outing. WARNING: they're all a bit kerazy not to mention randy!

The previous Just Mumming thread is HERE

There is also a private facebook group (so it doesn't give the game away in your news feed!)... if you want to join to see photos of new babies etc, just ask in-thread!

Yay Popz! Hope there's no more hitches!

Hobbit19 · 13/01/2016 23:08

Ha, good advice. Thanks Pis!

DulcetMoans · 13/01/2016 23:26

Good work popz. What a stupid bloody thing for them to say anyway. Dicks. Hope it all gets moving.

This pumping while they feed thing, is that if they only take one boob? J always has both, always. So I don't pump while he feeds but I don't get much when I pump an hour later. Maybe this is why??

No AF here yet essie, at 6mnths in, but most my group seem to have got it back about 5-6mnths. I think it could be whenever. They said the first one is a bitch though!

Hobbit19 · 14/01/2016 13:04

Waah, P has fed every 2 hours since yesterday afternoon! This must be an epic growth spurt! I'm shattered and just trying to keep eating and drinking to keep up with her. Need a nap and some new nipples!

Jcandy · 14/01/2016 20:18

Think we're through our growth spurt now. We have had a lot of screaming today. Thankfully she was alert and quiet for her photo shoot though (my sister bought one for us for christmas) might have spent quite a lot of money buying photos Confused

Just wondering if we're gonna get the witching hours tonight from 11 till 1am as we've had the past couple of nights. I'm tired today so not sure how well I'll cope with it

Hobbit19 · 14/01/2016 20:49

Tired here too, P still on boob! Plus mega boobing = mega pooing and vomming. Epic! Gx you have a quiet night. Put some of your pics on FB so we can coo!

Jcandy · 14/01/2016 21:11

Yep! We've had some megapoos today! I'm looking forward to seeing them again, should get the digital images in the next 48 hours Smile

RPopz · 14/01/2016 22:27

Keep up the good work.... It won't be forever xxx

Hobbit19 · 15/01/2016 00:57

Urgh. Nobhead neighbour is playing his crap music really loudly. It's 1am FFS and some of us are trying to cluster feed!!!

LaLaLaaaa · 15/01/2016 07:18

Hello! I'm so tardy there's too much to catch up on.

Popz mortgage company are dicks

Dulcet how are you feeling any better?

Pud and JC the cluster feeders! Hope it's starting to get a bit easier. It's so hard at first! Pud did you get latch checked? Did LC come to help?

Essie I've got 2 snowsuits and we've never used either. There's a muff on the buggy so as long as he's got layers on he's toasty warm. I add and remove blankets as needed. It's not recommended to use snowsuits in sling because they can overheat and also it can restrict leg movement or put legs in funny position due to the padding. In sling I put on his lighter coat, then he gets ugg style bootees, mittens and a hat. He seems fine with that but if it gets colder I might add a layer on the legs. Any of you sling wearers with boys do this? How ?

Expressing pud - I find best time is morning straight after feed, whilst in same room as baby. You should have most milk then. I've always given B a bottle of EBM regularly (once a week) and he switches between breast and bottle fine now.

We've just started giving B the 360 cup with water in his high chair as he's starting solids. He hasn't worked it out yet and just chews the edge

Poor babies with jabs! Hope they're ok Confused

Started weaning this week as B is 6 months according to due date. Dr saw us on Monday, diagnosed silent reflux and urged U.S. To start weaning ASAP as it'll hopefully help. He's now on ranitidine twice a day and already we see a difference. Feel like w bad mum fur having said previously I didn't think he had it and refusing to medicate him. In my defence though they weren't sure if he had it and were going on hunch. It's now more obvious that he's got it.

OP posts:
LaLaLaaaa · 15/01/2016 07:21

I've never pumped while feeding! B is such a fusspot feeder I'd end up with milk everywhere.

Weaning is a bit scary but funny. I'm doing BLW and purée. I offer him pieces of food whenever I am preparing food and at lunchtime he has his milk then purée. So far he thinks food is gross!

OP posts:
Jcandy · 15/01/2016 08:38

I'm glad than B is starting to feel better, is he enjoying his food? Don't feel bad about it you just didn't want to give him medication you weren't sure he needed.

Well I think G definitely has colic Sad around midnight every day we get inconsolable crying. She seems in so much pain bless her. She gets it at other times in the day too so I think it might be trapped wind related. I'm burping as much as I can (comes out as posset/vomit a lot of the time) plus doing hula and cycling legs and rubbing her tummy. None of it seems to help. I've cut out dairy for the last 9 days now but may have had the odd slip up so could still be a while to get it out of my system. It's just so heartbreaking!

That's one inconsiderate neighbour you have pud did it stop at any point?

Hobbit19 · 15/01/2016 09:47

He stopped about 2am and has apologised this morning. He always apologises but then just does it again! Nice bloke in lots of other ways but just inconsiderate when it come to playing music.

La thanks for the expressing info. I managed to get 4oz but that was 3 pumping sessions over 24 hours. (About 10 mins each side each session). Should it get more efficient as I pump more?

JC that sounds really tough. Have you been to the gp at all? Hugs and Cake.

P still feeding like a beast but every 2.5 hours instead of 2 so I got a bit more sleep. We managed to do the 3am feed in 30 mins including a nappy change; definitely a record!

Do your babies get the hiccups a lot? P gets them 2 to 3 times a day for about 20 mins at a time. HV said it was because she had a stressful birth?!?

LaLaLaaaa · 15/01/2016 10:35

Pud not sure about the stressful birth comment Hmm but babies do get hiccups lots, some more than others. Ben gets them and if he gets them once then he gets them all test of the day after each feed. It's caused by a full stomach so try holding her upright for 15 min after each feed. To get rid of them either feed or rock to sleep. They don't really bother babies but to me they look bloody uncomfortable!

OP posts:
purplewhale · 15/01/2016 12:45

B used to get loads of hiccups. He still does but not as much - think he's grown out of them to an extent. Traumatic birth my arse. Ben was born by section, I don't think that was traumatic for him.

JC I developed a jiggly walk. Actually jiggling him dislodged more wind than just patting his back. Lying on his tummy and patting back sometimes worked. Getting baby as vertical as you can helps. Walking round is better than sitting. I think some babies just get colic, it's not necessarily caused by cows milk intolerance

Hobbit19 · 15/01/2016 13:09

Sorry La, missed your question. Yes saw LC, latch is lovely, pain just caused by early nipple trauma which didn't have chance to heal. So, so much better now. I got some nipple compresses too which really helped.

Yes Purple I agree 'traumatic birth' = nonsense. At no stage did P's HB show signs of distress. According to HV it was traumatic for P because I had to go in the ambulance! P hadn't been born at this point sonic doubt she noticed!!!

Pisghetti · 15/01/2016 13:16

B was hiccuppy and she fell out so I think your HV is talking through her arse Pud. It will get more efficient as you go along. I've always pumped fairly regularly but now I'm doing it every day I'm definitely seeing an increase in yield for the time I spend.

It's my birthday WineWineCakeCake!! It's also payday and the way the pay periods have fallen means I had a bumper payment to account for holidays taken at the end of mat leave! It's not life changing money but it's cleared the little overdraft I'd built up.

Had a scary moment this morning when my car failed to stop when I applied the brakes on the approach to a roundabout. I cut up another car really badly but managed to regain control and exit the roundabout safely. At first I though it was my car but it was actually ice. There wasn't any near home or on the motorway so I got caught on when I left the motorway. No harm done I suppose (although some poor person somewhere is probably still shaking after such a near miss when I cut them up Blush)

ZylaB · 15/01/2016 13:21

Sorry I've been rubbish at keeping up, will try to catch up..but..in the meantime..hello AF! You know what this means!!

Toast85 · 15/01/2016 13:28

Sat in the car whilst Melba sleeps after baby sensory. She fell asleep before the end! I know if I take her in the house she'll wake so I'll stay put as long as I can.

She had hiccups at least once a day before she was born and most days since too. Actually she gets them less frequently now but still quite often. Never seemed bothered by them!

La hope you have a good day of weaning today! I'm tempted to start making some purees soon. Melba is only just 4 months but advice for preemies is slightly different- wean between 5-7 months actual age. She's not there yet at all, but I'm quite excited about the prospect. So I figured if I make a few purees in the next few weeks and freeze them then they're ready whenever.

Pis that sounds awful! Glad it was ok! I had a scary moment a few weeks ago when someone almost pulled out into the side of me on the motorway. It's awful thinking what might have happened in those situations!

Toast85 · 15/01/2016 13:28

And happy birthday pis!! ThanksWineCakeCakeCake

Hobbit19 · 15/01/2016 14:20

Happy birthday Pis!! Have all of the Wine!

Zyla, Eep that is exciting! Quick, have some Wine while you still can!

What puree are we on today La? I'm such a foodie that I am excited about weaning already!

Jcandy · 15/01/2016 14:54

Happy birthday pis Grin

I've not been to GP as it's probably just colic so they can't really do anything. I know that she probably doesn't have a cows milk allergy but I can't bring myself to have dairy and see if she's worse or not. Shes probably just a normal baby but it is hard to watch.

Jcandy · 15/01/2016 14:55

Yay zyla! Get shagging!

ZylaB · 15/01/2016 17:05

Happy birthday pis!!

toast I often have half an hour in the car with H if she needs to stay asleep :). I have quiet time on my phone, it's ace!

Hobbit19 · 15/01/2016 17:12

JC is sounds like your baby is doing more than fussing but I found this page useful re: P's evening shenanigans so thought I would share just in case:
