haventgotaclue1 · 06/03/2016 06:57

Happy mothers day everyone! Great start to the day: dd slept through for 11.5hrs Grin and now she and dh are up to something downstairs. ...

Jw35 · 06/03/2016 07:12

Hi again everyone, I joined a while ago and haven't been back on since-My sisters in hospital with severe aplastic anaemia and I'm 19 weeks pregnant so it's all been a bit crazy. I've got Eve born in December but there isn't a December group so tagging on! I had forgotten about this group but it gave up on the main page! I will keep updated from now on!

Annarose2014 · 06/03/2016 09:26

Welcome back! How stressful with your sister. I remember well having to be in hospital last year a lot with Dad and it was horrendous with a little one. I'm 12 weeks now and still sick but it's only mild now so I'm hoping it goes soon. How do you feel these days?

eastmids thanks for the code! I have my eye on a maternity parka so I hope it works on that! Hope you get the specs sorted.

This morning I was woken up by DS trotting into my room triumphantly holding aloft a mothers day card that he had scribbled all over. I almost died at the cuteness! Of course then getting the card actually off him required some effort! Grin I got a bit misty eyed I have to admit.

porsmork · 06/03/2016 09:31

Happy Mothers Day everyone, hope you are spoiled rotten! I got a lie-in, and tickets to an exhibition we go to every year (where we had our first date!). DH wrote the card in DS's language, so it read 'ooohhhhh, dadadaraaaaaa' etc. Very cute!

Such a pain about the glasses eastmids, it must be so tough to keep your little one wearing them, as they can't understand the reasons behind it right now, hope you find a solution. Thanks for the H&m code, I buy most of my and DS's clothes from there, might do a summer t-shirt binge! He's a petite little one, still fits 9-12 month clothes, 12-18 are just beginning to look ok. Still, means the clothes get a good use.

When was the last time you had your babies weighed? Used to be an almost weekly thing, and now I can't recall when I last did it!

Hi JW, how are you finding your pregnancy this time round, congrats! Sorry to hear about your sis, that must be really tough.

MrsAukerman · 06/03/2016 12:53

East I think I've stumbled across you on fb! Does your 1st name start with L?

OP posts:
Annarose2014 · 06/03/2016 13:10

Oh God posmork the last time he was weighed was when he was 3 months old which was the last time we saw the Community Nurse.

I think his next visit is at 2. He weighs a bloody ton though! He's quite lean, but he's strong and big for his age.

Jw35 · 06/03/2016 13:20

Annarose my sickness wore off around week 13 so hopefully yours will soon! I'm feeling fine at the moment Smile happy Mother's Day everyone!

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 06/03/2016 13:47

MrsA yep that's me :)

MrsAukerman · 06/03/2016 14:10

Only you would work out the cost of the vests to the penny! Cheers for the code and we've ordered some. The boy has been pretty much head to toe h&m from birth but always nice to get discount.

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 06/03/2016 16:55

Ha ha wondering which groups we are in the same on Facebook or friends we have the same mrsa!! I have done several orders with code nieces sorted for their birthdays later in year now :)

Annarose2014 · 06/03/2016 17:26

I got 8 quid off that parka! I could kiss you eastmids !

MrsAukerman · 06/03/2016 18:09

It's the scandi / JoJo clothes group.

OP posts:
eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 06/03/2016 18:33

Glad it helped Anna :)

Thought so MrsA I am sometimes shocked how much people will pay second hand without even checking if can get for similar price on offer new.

ladydolly · 06/03/2016 18:36

Happy mothers day one and all! Me, dd and mum went out for vietnamese lunch, dd went mad for beansprouts, who knew?? Dp is away on a stag do but text me to say dd had hidded my present in his wardrobe. Was a box full of my favourite sweet treats along with candles and smellies. Very cute.

Then dd has been a handful all afternoon. Trying to distract her from wanting boob, climbing the clothes airer, emptying the tupperware cuboard, eating things out of the bin... I'm knackered. I don't know how single parents do it.

Bargain code! I might have to return everything I ordered on thursday and reorder :) While we're talking about vests, how long to kids wear them for? They seem to go to 18m then what? Actual vests? I never see any for sale, perhaps I'm not looking properly.

Annarose2014 · 06/03/2016 19:02

I thiiiiinnnk you can order them in higher sizes in Next? We buy Next sleepsuits cos they're bloody massive and you get so long out of them and the sales assistant said something about being able to order them up to age 3? I havent double checked though.

Lashing rain here all day and DS got very bored and cranky in the house so eventually I had to trudge in the rain to the local hotel to let him run around an empty mezzanine. Not much fun for me! But at least he burnt off a bit of energy.

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 06/03/2016 19:07

You can get popper vests in 2-3 in most places and yep then proper vests again loads places sell primary is great for character ones cheap! You make the switch when potty training and as we all have Nov born I would recommended from next easter potty training earlier will Ber nightmare cold weather too many layers but easter onwards should be warmer boys in particular are more 2.5-3yrs before ready girls a bit earlier.

Strawberryfield12 · 06/03/2016 21:00

Happy mother's day! Hope everybody had a great day.

The thread has been very active last few days while I have been away! DD switched to duvet on her 1st birthday. I was scared she would get tangled up in the sleep bag when standing up in the bed and will hit her head. So I was counting days to get her under duvet. I was hoping it could help her sleep as some people had reported on different forums, but hey ho... Still no pillow, as the one I bought for her doesn't feel flat enough for her. Maybe it's worth to try though because one sleeping next to me or DH she likes to put her head on our chest.

We had gone away for a long weekend to visit PILs. All in all it's been pretty trip. DD woke up on the morning all very well, had a 2 hrs nap in the car and then woke up with high fever. We were already half way up so no point turning around and going home. It's not great to be stranded inside for days looking after ill DD in the comfort of own home, but to be trapped in the house of somebody else is even worse. Saturday DD had been quite tearful every time the temperature rose, so we ended up going to 24 hrs walk in surgery this morning before traveling all the way back home. It's a virus, but her throat is really really sore. Three sleepless nights and all, I think I am off to bed soon...

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 07/03/2016 16:07

Strawberry hope dd is feeling better, ds2 is asleep on me barely eaten even his fav paella high temp not happy bunny, got glasses sorted one new pair on order and new lenses for other pair n theory will fit when I go back next week totally wrong glasses for him and wrong measurement scary really thank goodness I went to another branch and was persistent other people may have accepted what given.

Lunch out in town n treated myself to a new dress in fat face and car serviced and mot which passed few advisories but that's always vcase really n can wait

annatha · 07/03/2016 20:14

We've been wondering when to swap to a duvet and take the sides off the cotbed too. She can get out of her sleeping bags now so she has a thin quilt in with her but I think she sleeps on it rather than under it. No point tucking her in and she plays in her cot for a bit before falling asleep. Dh is keen to take the sides off the cot and have her room completely baby proof but I can imagine her waking up in the night, wandering around in the room and staying awake instead of dropping back off.

How much milk are your babies drinking now? We've been on one 8oz bottle at bedtime for a while but the past few weeks she'd been having it downstairs before bed to keep her distracted while I fed and settled ds so I could take her up to bed (dh works until 10 so it's solo bedtime most nights) and she was more interested in drawing milky patterns on the floor with it so I stopped giving it this week and she sleeps just the same. She eats loads of cheese and yoghurt so gets plenty of dairy but should she still be drinking milk too? She won't eat anything that she can't feed herself so if she has cereal it's just the smallest splash of milk to soften them so she doesn't pour it everywhere.

Strawberryfield12 · 07/03/2016 20:31

eastmids your poor DS... DD's fever is gone now, that last horrible spike yesterday morning what made us worried sick was the last one after all. She seems to have 3 days cycle with fevers. Now she is left with groggy voice, sore throat and streaming nose. Not great but better than few days ago. It was just last week, she was in bath I was sat watching her and thought that finally her eyes have cleared off and nose dried up, and the spring is almost here so hopefully no more viruses. Ha! Hope your LO get better soon.

We left her at home today, DH was looking after her while I was at work. When I came home could hear DH saying her "let's go and have a look who's there!" They both appeared in the lounge door, usually she would run towards me for a hug and only then would go back to the daddy the favorite. Tonight she was trying to close the door and when DH didn't let her and I walked over to her, she actually started crying, clearly showing a disappointment that her idyllic day with daddy has finished and I was the one who ruined everything by coming home Hmm. I am used she shows clear preference for DH, but her being upset with me coming home was a bit Confused. And I am booked up for 10 days in July to take her to my family while DH stays in UK... That won't go down too well.

ladydolly · 07/03/2016 21:23

strawberry it might not be that, I heard lo's don't always know how ro cope with thier feelings of people coming and going so she might have been overwhelmed to see you?

anantha we're at the opposite end of the milk problem! Dd has 6-8oz at bedtime, at least one more in the night, maybe 2. She used to have a boob feed in the morning but now I've stopped so trialling a 2-3oz when she gets up and hope to drop that one. Then one 6oz in the day. But I'm constantly trying to get her to have food or water instead! She's still asking for boob, how long can I expect that so you think? I feel awful saying no.

HalfStar · 07/03/2016 21:43

Oh bless lady. With dd1 it took 2-3 weeks before she stopped asking, though she was younger, 13 months. Try not to let her catch you sitting down at all. Dd2 just kind of self weaned really Confused rather insulting!

strawberry glad to hear dd is better. Sometimes they just have weird reactions to stuff! Hard for you though Thanks

My poor dd1 has been quite sick with a bad virus but think she is picking up today. Horrible seeing her so wiped and sleeping so much.
Dd2 gets one bottle of 5-6oz at bedtime, drinks it all. Rest of the time it's water. Milk in her cereal and a lot of cheese. I try and remember to give her almonds too as apparently they're good for calcium.

Annarose2014 · 07/03/2016 21:55

We give one 5oz at night but only 3 scoops of formula in it.

Then a 5oz When he gets up with only 2 scoops of formula in it.

The plan is at night to gradually reduce the formula content to get him to only need a small drink of plain water before bed by 18 months or so for his teeth,

And in the morning to not fill him up much so he'll eat a hearty breakfast. He's defiantely eating a better breakfast since we reduced it so much.

The rest of the day its water in his beaker only and he drinks tons of it. He basically picks it up himself at all times and slugs away.

We havent bought soya/almond milk in ages and just use ordinary dairy products with regular milk in. He has plenty of regular cheese/yoghurt etc.

At this point I'm not sure how much point there is in introducing drinks of cows milk tbh as he's thriving.

porsmork · 08/03/2016 07:14

We do one bottle of about 6oz before bath time, though he's only been taking about 3, hence the introduction of a flapjack at bed time (he slept through last night, still asleep now!). He has milk on cereal, cheese and yoghurt, so I hope that's enough. I have more concerns about protein as he doesn't eat much meat or fish (though lentils and beans are OK). He has some in evening meals, but he doesn't eat meat as finger food, though I've tried cubes of ham and home made chicken nuggets etc. Fish fingers aren't a hit either.
