She's started cruising today and looked SO pleased with herself!

On the not so positive side, not only does she have conjunctivitis again, but also a snotty nose and horrible cough - have resorted to using the inhaler the doc prescribed last time. I really didn't want to have to use it, but if it helps her......

ladydolly, we'll join you back in the shit-sleep-camp...dh and I are back to the 4 hourly sleep rota again...and I think I'm coming down with whatever dd has (sore throat, cough and heavy head...undoubtedly not helped by zilch sleep...whinge and moan over)

Haven't can't remember the last time we left the shit sleep camp although husband is doing more of the night now I don't feed unless he hasn't fed for 3-4hrs and we are back using the inhaler we had a week cough free bloody nursery germs been ill since Wed and was at his worse yesterday cuddly and sleepy all day.

We seem to have one shit night one decent recently. Last night she only woke at 2 am for feed, so I should get ready... Considering DH will be away till Tuesday evening... Hey ho... Starting nursery tomorrow with settling in sessions. Should be fun!

Its been a while. How are you all doing?

Babyboom is quite a character. She's been walking for about month and varies between drunken ape and a busy penguin style. Climbing is her new thing and she attempted to scale most things.
Luke alot of yr wee ones - she has been long a long spell of ailments with bronchialitis and now chicken pox which has dented her cheery demeanor so looking forward to having my bright button back.

Fucking hell. Will we ever get to sleep tonight? 5 hrs till he wakes up for the day and he's been awake for an hour and a half. DH has just taken over as I was gwtting very upset.

So much for sleep training. I swore I wouldnt go in unless he was proper crying. But he did when he woke tonight, started bawling his eyes out after about 10 mins grumbling, so I had to go in. Then he started giggling.

And the whole dreadful cycle began again...........

I feel a bit played at this stage, tbh. He wants to sleep in our arms and knows how to make that happen.

anna join me in some matchstick wearing over here. 3 hours of screaming from 9-12. Nothing worked, feeding cuddling, rocking, sitting with, leaving. She was throwing herself around, hitting out, arching her back* it was hideous. Dp wants her to cry it out, I don't want to but he said he has nothing left to give so I guess I'm on my own with it now. Wonder weeks says it could be a leap in which case there's just a few more days left... please god. Her temper just amazes me.

Found you all! Dd is one today! She's had a manic weekend with lots of visitors so were just having lunch with a friend today. She has got so much stuff, im not actually sure where to put it all

I thought we had a bad night here, but Anna and Ladydolly you definitely trump me over. Here goes a hope for better sleep tonight...

Went to gp this morning for bloods and mentioned it. She said to think about Crying It out.

But we're going to try some sort of gradual retreat before it comes to that. I've no doubt he'll scream, but at least he won't be alone screaming, and we can shhhh him in a comforting manner.

Was so depressed & worn out today though that we came with DH to work! He's on a site visit to a town an hr away and we're pottering about a strange town centre until he's finished. Chilling in costa right now & the distance from the house is helping with perspective.

DH is being philosophical - he's a baby, and it is what it us. And it doesn't make us lousy parents just because we can't fix his nights.

So plan for tonight: no going in unless proper full on crying. If that happens then comfort in cot rather than in arms (Christ he won't like that!)

Keep putting laying down.

This could be another 2 hr battle but at least it'll be reinforcing the messages WE want as opposed to the messages HE wants.

Anna there are much nicer sleep training options cry it out is really harsh and some research shows long term emotional damage whereas using sshhh pat techniques for example although they cry you are with them so they don't feel abandoned.... consider would you leave a colleague or your husband crying for periods of time without comfort or would you stay and reassure them extreme example I know but certainly made me read more into it.

I am a fab of a mix of Sssh pat and gradual retreat but am yet to do anything with my own sleep dodger as shouldn't train if Ill or teething well that's been us since well forever.

On a positive note been down to one dose of ranitidine for a week and seems ok some mild symptoms but managed with regular food and yesterday tried a soya fromage frais without any issues yet prev a soya yogurt made his reflux awful. Hoping it's ok as gives us another pudding option.

Hi everyone, missed you all! Happy birthday to the birthday babies. Are they all one now? Yay!

More bugs here so sleep been a bit mixed although we are on a general improvement trend I feel. Have made little changes with the help of sleep consultant but because of bugs and stuff have to stay gentle. Despite cough did slept 8ish-2.20, quick feed, down til 7.15ish last night. Really great. But only til the next illness!

Dd still not walking with any confidence, just a few steps if she's not feeling under pressure! She has slight hip dysplasia and am wondering if that's an issue. Plenty of time though.

New favourite game is...stickers! Best bloody invention in the world. She is quite dexterous so depending on type can peel them off herself and stick with gay abandon. Whoever was asking about entertaining babies/toddlers in cafes and restaurants...stickers. Stickers is the answer! Always have some in your bag. (But yeah a bit of a walk around usually also needed.)

Dd is finally coming around to accepting a bit of cows milk as opposed to delicious sugary formula. Just had to stubborn it out with her. Still doing morning and bedtime and overnight feed. No sign of period, any other boobers got theirs?

Marginally better night here, she slept fine but my cough kept me up so ot 3 or 4 hours in the end.

I think I'm ovulating half but had my coil put in a few months ago so not much period to speak of, just a bit of spotting once a month. I'm only feeding at night really though.

Have just committed to an overseas trip next week, Tuesday to Friday - eeeeek, scary to be away from her that long now I've booked the flights.

The last three nights I have felt so shit and so has dd with our head colds that I have just been going to bed with her in my bed. This isn't good is it. My mum keeps having a go at me about it

No sign of period here either half, although been feeding once a day for about a month now....wondering if it's cos I've lost quite a bit of weight too (was always "lucky" enough to be slim, but am actually weighing about 4kgs less than pre-pregnancy) - probably a bit too much on the skinny side and am wondering if it will ever re-appear....

Stickers sound a great idea - babyhavent's latest "thing" is exploring the kitchen cupboard where I keep all the baking stuff...the weighing scales and pot of whole nutmegs are the favourite "toys" at the mo

Also, how come they can go from doing nothing to all of a sudden being able to do loads??? Within 24 hours she's able to cruise and climb up ALL the stairs! Will be getting a stair gate asap!

Oh Ark - really feel for you, but also definitely don't beat yourself up about it. I've come to the conclusion that there are times when you just do whatever you need to do to get by. Sounds like you're having one of those times. and for you

Oh ark it's fine! It's primal to keep poorly offspring close by and if you get more sleep, it's an added benefit. I'm sure your mum didn't mean to upset you but would you even be worrying about it if she hadn't said anything?

Yeah no favourite toy is our 17th C Dutch dresser which is an heirloom! Because it's so precious I won't screw into it to childproof it and it also contains all our crockery so needs very close supervision but he thinks opening and shutting the doors is amazing fun.
Consistently waking once a night now which feels good but I also feel like sleeping through is only just round the corner.

ark ignore your mum and do what you need to do to get through. You are both poorly and need to get sleep somehow. Hope you are both feeling better soon.

It's just been one thing after another since the chicken pox. It's like everything has been waiting for us to get the first bug and now it's one after the other!

Anyone doing a Father Christmas visit? We're taking dd next week with my friend and the little girl she cares for who is wheelchair bound. I can't wait!

So we had one perfect night after the last shit one, then last night it all kicked off.

So its every second night now! Even more important we crack it.

Last night he woke up at 1 & bee outraged quite quickly that we weren't immediately going in to pick him up.

So then he sharply progressed to crying though you could tell it was angry-upset still.

But I went in cos I didn't want to do Cry It Out. I cuddled him still in the cot. Cue: absolute hysterics when he twigged I wasn't picking him up. Oh my lord! Total meltdown! He even started hitting me away in anger!

I just kept cuddling him down into the mattress and amazingly after 5 screaming minutes he lay down like a lamb, still in my arms (almost falling into cot as you can imagine).

So that's promising. Still took another hr to leave the room without him freaking though. Must've been 12 attempts. But he was lying down throughout. Tiny scraps of progress.

I also think you should keep her in the bed. It's not for me (I get claustrophobic co-sleeping, can't sleep at all) but if you can do it, then fuck it.
