H is still poorly! Took her to,docs on tues after a terrible night of her writhing and moaning and being up every few mins crying, they said maybe she was getting a urinary infection, but I couldn't get a sample! Her diarrhoea is pretty much better but she was upset all last night and has a temp so I'm taking her back again today :(
dulcet they had kids clubs, but under 2s have to be accompanied by an adult, so we used their room as a playroom and also tried to use the night nursery. I think when she's over 2 she'll get a lot more from it, and we'll get time to ourselves, but we did think the facilities for it were great :)

deeplybaffled · 31/12/2015 07:49

Zyla, which cruise line was it? We've been on a few in the past with p and o and loved them, so definitely want to take madam sooner rather than later.
Sorry to hear that she is poorly - we were supposed to have the third set of jabs today but she's full of cold and I'm not risking a bad reaction on a bank holiday weekend, so will postpone till next week, poor scrap.

RPopz · 31/12/2015 11:29

Morning ladies. I'm still virused up. My throat is so sore!! Sad Went to mum's yesterday for a break though... She bloody loves playing with minipopz all day long. So he was happy. Mr P has 4 days off work now too so hopefully I can regain my marbles in time for the new year!!

Have given up on bedtime and just accepted he's sleeping in our bloody bed for now. It's annoying but we all get more sleep that way. Hopefully it's just a phase.... and linked to the separation anxiety thing. Even Mum commented how clingy he was.

Feeling any happier this morning Dulcet?

How's it going in hosp pud?

Hope H is better soon zyla. X

Anyone got any exciting plans for tonight? Grin I jest of course... We'll all be wrestling babies until silly o'clock and then falling asleep on the sofa as usual Wink

Jcandy · 31/12/2015 15:29

Hope you get chance to recover over the next few days popz

Babycandy was so unsettled last night. She screamed from about midnight till half 2. She's been feeding about every half an hour to an hour and a half for the last 48 hours so I'm thinking growth spurt. Wondered if it could be wind pain. What's the recommendation with infacol/your thoughts? Also considered a dummy last night (sterilised one but didn't cave) but she's only 11 days so think it might be too soon. She was very lazy with her latch this morning too. Oh this is so hard isn't it!

deeplybaffled · 31/12/2015 16:03

We gave a dummy at about 4 days of age on the advice of a very pro breast feeding midwife when we were still in hospital. She said it wasn't the usual thing, but some babies just needed it - so I wouldn't automatically rule it out.
We've also used infacol since very early on - it helps them to burp, so if her latch isn't great, she might be swallowing a lot of air which then causes the pain at the other end if it isn't burped up. Could be worth a try !
Clockwise tummy massage might help too or La's famous hula legs dance - ask her for the video clip 😊
hang on in there - it does get easier as their tummies grow and can hold more. X

Jcandy · 31/12/2015 16:36

She's been awake for the last 3 hours and seems so uncomfortable at times I feel like I need to try something

Jcandy · 31/12/2015 16:58

Ok so she looked at me like I was crazy when I gave her a dummy.......... Decided to give infacol though and after another short feed she has finally gone to sleep

ZylaB · 31/12/2015 17:44

deeply it was P and O :)

So H has a urinary infection they think, she's running and temp and now is on antibiotics as well as the calpol, poor mite, I think the diarrhoea took it out of her and Mae her susceptible to things. So...she hates hates hates taking her medicine of any variety, won't take it off a spoon and screams and splutters it back up if I manage to get it in with oral syringe after holding her down...any hints? :) :)

ZylaB · 31/12/2015 17:45

popz H is in our bed most of the time now after thinking I was successful with pick up put down, all it took was teething to go backwards! It's just easier!!

Jcandy · 31/12/2015 18:56

The way I find most successful at work is via syringe in tiny amounts into the side of their mouth. But it is tricky to do with a screaming baby who is most likely all arms and legs. Also if you punch their nose they do eventually swallow but I'd save that one for desperation as they aren't particularly happy after it

Jcandy · 31/12/2015 18:57

Pinch not punch! !!! I'm not advocating child violence!! Shock

DulcetMoans · 31/12/2015 19:15

Haha. Did seem extreme jc! I agonised over the funny thing ft a couple of days but, as you've probably seen, there are pros and cons so better to just do what you think your baby needs. J is a sucker and without one, especially in those early days, he would stay stuck on me all night! Did she keep it in?

Poor H zyla! I've only ever used the syringe to get drugs in him, well other than a cannula! Is she at a stage you can sneak it in foods? (I may be resorting to cat tactics there!)

Glad you got some support at your mums popz. Is it just a one night visit? I do feel a bit better today thank you, was probably just over thinking everything. J has still been bad today but just riding it out and at least DH is here.

News people - the seal is broken. We have had our first post-baby shag. It wasn't the best but it's done!

Any exciting plans for tonight people? I think in the main I want to know what you're all eating!

RPopz · 31/12/2015 21:24

Hooray for shagging Dulcet Grin

We've had an M&S meal deal. Minipopz woke up screaming the actual second the steaks were done..... So it was shovelled down in silence so I could go get him back to sleep.... Angry Yummy though!

I first tried the dummy when minip was about 2 weeks old jc - you sort of need to teach them to use it at first before they cotton on to it. Reverse psychology seems to work well - wiggle it round her mouth and then try and pull it out- usually makes them latch onto it! I could usually tell when minipopz had had his a lot because his latch did get a little lazy, but was always reversible. Definitely worth a try in the interests of more sleep and free nipples!

Got earache now. Might actually cry if this bug doesn't bugger off soon!

EssiesInvisibleLlama · 31/12/2015 22:28

Happy new year viroids. I'm going to bed. I hope 2016 brings us all some extra hours of sleep!
Get well soon everyone with bugs and things. Not fun. We're finally clear of ours. I'm almost tempted to remain in quarantine to avoid catching anything else.
Hope everyone has a good sleep. X

purplewhale · 31/12/2015 22:31

We had steak with baked potatoes, followed by M&S desserts. Tarts tatin for me (and another left for tomorrow) and profiteroles for DH (who ate the lot). I've done a bottle of barefoot merlot, and now debating a liqueur coffee.

I also boiled the Christmas ham that I'd not got around to cooking. I'll smear it in marmalade and roast it tomorrow. We'll eat that for a few days. Think I'll make some coleslaw too. We've got a ton of cheese that needs eating up

I'm rejoining weightwatchers tomorrow, I want to lose a decent amount of weight this year and see if I can ditch the insulin.

I had a mirena fitted on Tuesday so no DC2 for while if at all

Hurray for shags Dulcet hope you used precautions
Popz hope you get some sleep and feel better soon.

PixieChops · 31/12/2015 22:31

Happy New Year you lovely lot. See you next year. I'll be coming back to the Fred now properly but I don't think I'll ever catch up. I'll start afresh from tomorrow. X

Happy New Year lovelies. I finished the bottle of wine, now on a brandy coffee...my cream didn't float though. I also raided the remainder of the Christmas cheese! I'm unstoppable on red wine
DH is on B duty and hasn't touched a drop of alcohol boring fucker
Oops probably shouldn't post when pissed!

LaLaLaaaa · 01/01/2016 08:41

Happy new year! So tired. Baby doesn't like sleep.

PixieChops · 01/01/2016 10:06

La hope you get some sleep soon, R was up every hour last night coughing and spluttering. He sounds like he's on 100 woodbines a day bless him. I'm just keeping him pumped full of antibiotics. We had R in our room in his pram to keep him upright, don't think he was very comfy but it's either that or he chokes on catarrh.
P on the other hand has suddenly started sleeping in until 9am!

Happy New year girls. We survived a whole year!! Now we have to do it all again!! BrewFlowersCake

Happy New year min, furry, juni ness, wil etc if you're all still lurking! We miss you! X

Pisghetti · 01/01/2016 13:13

Ah fucks sake! Just wrote a long un and lost it. In summary - waves to newbies. Lemsip and sympathy to Popz BrewThanks

Had new year at the in laws. Was nice but BabyPis is completely out of routine (she's still asleep and has slept until midday most days but has been a bit of a mare in the night) which is handy as I'm back in work on Monday Shock I can fix this in one night right....?

For dulcet - we had pizza and quiche, olives and salad, cheese and pineapple on sticks (love retro!) pickles, crisps, cheesecake and a gingerbread house and aaalll the cheeses. Meat eaters also had beef bourgingon (sp??) cold meat, sausages on sticks, chicken goujons and a couple of trifles. Good spread!

ZylaB · 01/01/2016 20:16

Happy new year!

JC I like the idea that punching her in the nose will make her swallow, hehehe. She clenches her mouth shut if we try the syringe at the moment, so the only way that works is for me to put a bit on the spoon and pretend I'm eating it, the offer it to daddy, then to H. Cons her into it so far and she seems to be on the mend now, hooray! Let's hope it means some sleep :)

purple good luck with weight watchers, I weighed in at slimming world on mon and had put 6lb on in a 10 day holiday! I was trying hard though chuckle. Want to lose that and then another stone or stone and a half and I think I'll be good!

LaLaLaaaa · 02/01/2016 06:36

Happy birthday minipopz!

I'm never going to catch up with the thread, really sorry !

Zyla I'm so sorry wee ones still not well :(

Pixie - how's R? Any better?

Fleur - come back! Hope everything's ok

I'm sitting holding B. He is finally over the horrible cold he had through Christmas. He was also on antibiotics got his infected finger. Might need to go back to Dr because finger still red but it's a lot better and no longer leaking pus everywhere! Christmas was lovely but his cold was scary - at times we couldn't put him down to sleep because he couldn't breathe at all. So had to take shifts holding him. He then had a cough which kept waking him.

We are dealing with lots of mould caused by condensation due to an extra person in house plus baby washing. It's not fun and I've been v stressed and worried because it can be really bad for babies . My wardrobe had to be chucked and most of my shoes. My clothes are at the cleaners. I'm so sad because we'd made a beautiful nursery for B and now it's ruined. We've cleaned it and have to paint this week. It's also in our bedroom and so we have to strip the bedroom today to wash the walls. I've bought a tumble dryer, dehumidifier and we are going to ask for a stronger bathroom fan. Bathroom has no windows and fan is crap

Hogmanay was me and Dh on couch watching films and eating takeaway. Brilliant! Dh has B's cold now though

I'm a bit fed up now of this baby not sleeping. I know you guys say yours dint either but in my fit mummy group all the other babies sleep through apparently! I just wonder what I'm doing wrong!

LaLaLaaaa · 02/01/2016 06:49

JC - whatever happens you're doing brilliantly! B was v windy until about 15 weeks old. I had been told bf babies didn't need winding so I didn't wind for first 2-3 weeks and ended up with a very sore baby! Once I started regular wind control it was much better. Here's what I did:

Cranial osteopath first - said his diaphragm was rigid which could be causing problems. She did some manipulation and it was much better. Gripe water got rid of what was sitting inside him - over a day his bum was like a machine gun! I then started using infacol before each feed.

Hula legs! Put baby on back and whirl legs round in circle one way then the other. There's a song that goes with it - I'll try to find my video

Baby massage - changed our lives! I did it every day and it never failed to get the wind and poo moving. Courses are about £45. Definitely worth it.

Hold upright ten min after every feed and make sure you wind properly. I do this religiously. Part of our Eve bedtime routine is holding him upright while I sing a song. I time it on clock. Even if he's already burped very often he will burp again at around 8 mins in. Saves you putting baby down only for them to wake up screaming 30 mins later with wind.

Every time j get him out of cot for feed I would first lie him on back and push his legs up and back on himself. He's do massive farts. When babies are little they can't wiggle enough to let wind out and also their bodies can't get hang of pushing out wind at same time as relaxing.

I think that's everything... B used to moan with wind pain from 3am every day and I'd have to hold him. It stopped as soon as I started baby massage and hula legs.

LaLaLaaaa · 02/01/2016 06:53

I give b's medicine by syringe, minus the punching on nose ;)

I sit him on my knee and tip him back slightly so it doesn't just run out. I squeeze about a ml at a time into he side of his mouth and it seems to work well as he takes it fine.

Dummies - I was anti dummy until we were readmitted to hospital at 2 weeks and he screamed and screamed. A midwife gave us a dummy. It worked to calm him down and helped him to sleep. Now we use it if he's tired and just wants to suck on something, or if he's agitated. He has it when we put him to bed but he spits it out after 5 minutes. We are starting now to give it less and it's fine. He's never had problem with latch due to dummy
