skyler about abnormal smears it might be an idea to get tested for HPV which is often more indicative of whether one might develop cervical cancer in the future. if you don't have that virus i would worry less about abnormal results. it might be a pain but it is well worth it. sorry this is a subject close to my heart, i think trib posted links about this sometime ago, will try to find something useful

Bubbaloo · 11/01/2007 11:32

Btw...I've just noticed a smear thread over in the health section!

sfxmum · 11/01/2007 11:34

forgot to say, generally it is nothing to worry about

Skyler · 11/01/2007 11:42

Thank you ladies. I am going to ring my docs I think and ask if they know what the problem was with it IYKWIM. I don't think they are terribly worried as have not referred me just suggested repeat smear but I wonder what I have that looked like thrush but wasn't now ????
I hate needles etc and so although I want the mole off my chin I am a bit apprehensive about that too. Sigh.
SFX - I take on board what you are saying too. Thank you for your info. I will do a search.
Just added to that smear thread...
Right must be off to get dd1. Have a headache too now. Think I am a bit stressed by it Grrr.

2Happy · 11/01/2007 12:59

Skyler I had an abnormal smear and was called back for a repeat in 6 months - it was just "borderline", they said if there were more changes I would have had an earlier repeat, and if there were "serious" changes I would have gone straight to colposcopy, they wouldn't have bothered with a repeat (not that I ever had the repeat as I got pg first ), so hopefully nothing too worrying for you. I know there was a MN user around whose dh reads and interprets smears and is a font of useful information on smears, I'll do a search and see if I can find her name...

2Happy · 11/01/2007 13:01

...it's mygirllolipop if you wanted to ask her any questions

sfxmum · 11/01/2007 13:33

skyler here is a link of what i was on about there is a bit at the end about abnormal smears. almost every woman i know has had one, it is one of those things there are many reason why one gets that result
hpv

Skyler · 11/01/2007 13:39

Thank you ladies. I have re read the letter and it states borderline changes so the same as you 2 happy. I will have a look at your link later sfx, thank you, as have to get girls to toddler group. I do know it is a really good thing that this has been flagged up and also that they are going to whip this mole off but I am still a bit fed up with the hassle IYKWIM ie childcare etc. I know I have nothing to complain about really . Anyway must dash.....

Lummox-Big CONGRATULATIONS from us, must be strange to have a wee baby again.

It will be a while before i need to pack hospital bag though only 9.5 weeks.

Hi To Everyone Else.

I have a question about ds and sleep.
How do you get them to sleep when they are extremely resltless??????

ds now sleeps in a double bad, as he kinda refused to sleep in his cot and wanted the bed. Although this means myself (but mostly dh) has to sit with him till he falls asleep. No matter what, he is restless at bed time and kicks and talks and generally defies sleep, we do all the relaxation things but it normally takes half an hour to an hour to get him to sleep. I think he can no longer put himself to sleep, but singing, reading and the like don't seem to help much either.
Any ideas?????

Skyler · 13/01/2007 11:35

Hi Uki
Sorry you are having sleep problems. I am afraid we are really hard on this one and read dd2 a story, say it is bed time and give her a kiss and pop her in her cot with her baby tad playing nighttime music. She does sometimes cry a bit but it is a tired cry so gets ignored . Different issues though as she is still in a cot so I know can't get out and I know she is tired as she stays lying down. So hmmm not really helping am I sorry...
If it is any consolation we did have lots of probs with dd1 when we moved back to the UK even though she had been in a big bed for a while she had always stayed in it. Not anymore. We had endless nights of just putting her back. I don't even know which of the threats/punishments/rewards/ignoring things we tried worked. I know I completely lost it one night and threatened not just to take her Easter chocolate away but to actually EAT it . That was my key to hand over to dh that night. It was awful so I sympathise. Complete waste of my time and v annoying. Anyway enough rambling, hope someone can help soon. Perhaps try in the sleep section???
Hi to everyone else, esp Lummox, hope all is going well

Hi ladies. I seem to have given up on the cloth nappies . Had a break over Christmas and not got back to them. I have been using Nature Baby nappies but have seen Moltex on all the cloth nappy sites I used to use. Are any of you using Moltex? Have a feeling Trib was or Katz?? Anyway can you tell me what they are like? TIA

Uki · 15/01/2007 00:15

Hi All
Thanks Sklyer and KVG for the sleep advice. I tried getting him to put his trains to bed in a box next to him, but he wanted to have them in bed and was then way to excited, didn't get to sleep till nearly 10pm. Was worth a try though, have also looked and sleep threads and i think i'm lucky, as he doesn't wake up at night.
he's just so wound up at night, it's usually easier to get him down for his nap though od?

Sklyer- CONGRAT's at using cloth nappies all this time, I really admire you. I gave up at 4 months mainly coz we are in a severe drought in Oz and all the water wastage seemed to be a worse option, than saving the land fill. (also have to admit i did get sick of washing too) I used Molotex for a while, but they were no good at night for ds and had to change more often than others during the day because they leak a bit if quite full. ds is a real camel so fills nappy pretty quick. Give them a go though, at the moment i use aldi supermarket brand which have tea tree product in them, so seem a little more eco friendly, but they are bleached. I have written to Huggies to ask them to come up with more enviro nappy, I don't understand all the bleaching, anyway no response, just seems ridiculous that you have to pay so much more for eco friendly, rant over.

Thank you ladies. Do the Moltex have elastic at the back? I think I will give them a try anyway. I like the Nature baby nappies but I find sourcing them difficult as although there a number of shops that do them they never seem to have the size I want when I want it. Grrr. Anyway I love internet shopping and so I am very happy to pay for things to be delivered to my door. Much less hassle.

Bubbaloo · 15/01/2007 13:48

Skyler-Have you had your appointment yet?
