Add your stats Viroids (or don't bother). I feel like there's something I'm supposed to write here but don't know what it is... Confused

Hurray Ga is here.

Any advice for Angelcare monitors. We just got a movement one and last night was the first night. It's on the flat base of the crib but the fecking thing went off so many times we switched it off

Fleurchamp · 23/09/2015 12:35

I haven't used the movement sensor Blush bad mummy for that exact reason.

I may do when he goes into his own room though

FurryScoob · 23/09/2015 12:55

Hello & congratulations to all the newbies!

Can't remember everything I've just read so Brew & Cake for the sleep deprived.

purple have you got the sensor pad on a solid board under the mattress? We had the same problem to begin with, there's a little switch on the back off the unit that's preset at 3 but you can turn it up so its more sensitive.

Minion · 23/09/2015 14:07

We've got the sensor pad but never used it either. I've hearing like a bat and she's not a quiet sleeper. There have been peaking round the door to see if she is still breathing moments though. I think it would have added to my anxiety tbh.
It was a gift but of I'd have bought it I would have gone for the video monitor.
No more traipsing up and door stairs when she makes sleep noises.

Babies just eaten a full curry!
The husband best get that nappy!

Fleurchamp · 23/09/2015 14:19

I have the video monitor but have no way of fixing it so I can actually see into the bed nest Confused

I can see through the sides though so can see if S's arms are waving about.

I know S is only 10 weeks old but I really find it difficult to be in the same room whilst he sleeps and so regularly use the monitor.

cookielove · 23/09/2015 14:25

We used the sensor board when E started sleeping on his tummy at about 4 months we had the chicco next to me which has a wooden board at the bottom that supports the matteress so we didn't use anything underneath, as he board was so large it picked up all his movements. We transferred the board into his cot but sadly he moved way to much so we turned it off!

RPopz · 23/09/2015 15:03

Welcome to the dark side gaggia! How's the wee man doing?

Weaning poo is vile pis ... Sympathies! Least you know something's going in!

I know exactly what you mean Dulcet - makes me cringe listening to him snorting and snuffling through his snot. I wish I could blow his nose for him!! He doesn't seem bothered about it though. Hope J feels better soon.

So nearly 12 hours sleep then Min?? Bugger me Envy

Been to Sing and Sign this morning. Minipopz spent 90% of the session crawling everywhere, stealing shoes, ransacking changing bags etc - and the other 10% examining the pattern on the bottom of his socks.... 60 quid well spent! Grin All the other babies sat nicely and listened to the singing, natch Hmm

LaLaLaaaa · 23/09/2015 16:07

Hi all,

Been awol for a bit. Will try to catch up!

purple - glad you're home again! Rough going back into hospital after the whole 'yay we're coming home' thing and having to get your routine startedd again, it happened to us too. Hopefully he'll settle again and your antibiotics do their thing!

dulcet us too! I have a snot-child. He doesn't seem particularlly bothered by it, but oh my god is he noisy. Snort snort snort! My sleep has gone from slim to none. I hadn't realised you could give them calpol for it - I'm totally milking that tonight!

Breastfeeders - does your child when tired start to scream when you attempt to put them down to the boob? Mine has always done it, but it's now escalating into almost toddler-style tantrums, accompanied by 'the lip' sticking out. I just have to put him down to sleep and attempt to feed again later once he's slept/calmed down. Very frustrating when it's an important feed for sleeping and he's not had enough - he'll cough/splutter and come off the boob, then when I try to put him back on I get the hysterics.

tee I knew your tear was bad but I didn't realise it was that bad - I'm so sorry! Hope you're ok x

Does anyone use Gro bags? Do you find the reverse zip on the front is a PITA to open/close? I have to have it open when I feed him because it rides up into his throat, then when he's nice and milk-sleepy I have to faff around trying to get it closed again. Really crap design!

fleur you mentioned using monitor in room when you're not there. I am DYING to put B upstairs in the crib in our room from 7pm feed (after bath) until we go to bed in that room (around 9:30-10pm) but I'm petrified about the SIDS risk, where apparently babies can go into deep sleep if no stimulation/noise in the room.

Does anyone think that it would be enough for us to put a radio or otherwise in the room? We'd be checking on him every 10-15 mins anyway, plus have the movement/sound monitor on. It's just that at the moment he's not sleeping very long after the bath/feed in the lounge with the bright lights and noise. He wakes up at about 9pm.

During the day he's starting to space his feeds out. We''ve gone from 7, 10, 1, 4, 7 to about 7, 11, 2, then I give him a little feed around 5 and he has big feed after bath at 7. I'm trying not to jump to pick him up at night when he wakes. Last night he went down at 10 and woke at 1 but then just lay in cot until he decided he wanted feed at 2am. Unfortunately meanwhile I was awake secretly watching him so I still didn't get any sleep! He then woke at about 5am, then (like S Fleur) he won't settle back down. He wants to be out and on one of us from 5am and will sleep but only on us. I'm kind of thinking he's still very little so I'm letting him do it.

LaLaLaaaa · 23/09/2015 16:37

popz B sleeps through EVERY class we go to! I go to baby sensory type classes, singing, rhyming, etc. and he sleeps through them all! Today we went to Early Years Parenting which is a 12 week thing you go to and covers loads of different topics and activities. It's an hour an a half. Today B fed through 10 mins, then had a tantrum, paused briefly to do a foot/hand paint print and then went to sleep.

Did I tell you all that I met before in RL? We go to the same baby group! It was great meeting a viroid in the flesh :)

I've got the Angelcare monitor purple and it's been fine so far - I just turn the switch off for the sensor when I have to lift him out for some reason. I like the night light as it means I can check on him without putting the harsher light on.

min that nappy's going to be a fun one! I've just cleaned up a poonami that went all over the feet and up the balls. I still find it funny cleaning a scrotum every day!!! I'll never grown up will I

fleur how the fuck do you get him to sleep so long? I'm despairing. I really hope putting him upstairs is the answer...

deeply - how are you getting on? I also don't believe whoever says newborns sleep. They bloody don't! B is only now starting to sleep for decent stretches of time. He still wakes up all the time with wind as well - I have to pick him up and wind him all the time and he then goes back to sleep. ARGH!

Is toast on here yet? She sounds like she needs a cuddle. Officially offered and given!

gaggia how's wee one and how is cross ginger liking her new wee brother?

LaLaLaaaa · 23/09/2015 16:46

Can you tell I'm going through and catching up?

Bring back the app!!!! I can't use the site when bf and I just haven't had a chance to get on the laptop for ages.

DM has been staying with us. Oh my god I love having her here - she just TAKES THE BABY! It's so wonderful. She rocks him, winds him, holds him. It's amazing. She went home today and I cried.

So...post choking episode we were in hospital 24 hours for monitoring and made to watch a video of how to resuscitate a newborn (I knew this already but it just went out of my head when it was my own bloody child!). We were given ranitidine and doc said she thought he was 'a bit refluxy' and to give him it.

Well, I ditched it by day 2. B is not refluxy - I think his pipes were irritated by the choking and so he coughed a bit in the hospital, plus he then got a cold. But DM and I have been monitoring him after feeds and there's nothing refluxy about him. Windy - yes! Grumpy when tired - yes!

I then cried every time I had to feed him for a day, as I was terrified he'd choke again. When he coughed I had a panic attack and had to give him to mum while I cried. But we are now back to normal (hopefully!) and I have bought a lovely new second hand nursing chair, so I can get him into a more comfortable (and safe!) position when feeding. It means always going into the nursery to feed but I figure it's nice for him to go into his own room and also it's nice and calm so helps with the tantrums.

A question for those who express please! How much do you leave per feed? We've now given B a bottle a couple of times and he chugged down 120ml (4oz) the other day and looked for more. Is that normal??? Kellymom seems to think it should be 3.4oz per feed! I'm doing the paced feeding thing but I think he's just a hungry hippo.

LaLaLaaaa · 23/09/2015 17:01

Oh and fuck tummy time! Yes - as fudge said - yet another thing to stress new mums out with! We do it as much as I remember, but when B wakes up he wants to feed and I'm not putting him on tummy after feed as he'll throw up, then he just wants to sleep. So he gets about 2 mins a day. I do however hold him up on my shoulder and he holds his head up all the time fine!

Don't get me started on 'no nappy time'. We've started putting barrier cream on B because he had mild nappy rash and I could never get enough no nappy time to fix it. Barrier cream works a treat!

My wee beastie is 15 lb now - at 8 weeks. Nuts.

mini hooray for E sleeping for 6 hours!!! What's your secret goes green with envy

pixie congrats on not shitting yourself! I also didn't shit myself today. It was threatening, but it didn't happen.

Laryngomalacia is floppy epiglottis - valve basically doesn't shut properly. Causes baby to breathe loudly and can cause breathing to stop. Was suggested by lactation person possible cause for B's choking, but I checked symptoms and no.

popz is miniP being any better about car seat?

dulcet when you find out the sleeping secret can you please tell me?

LaLaLaaaa · 23/09/2015 17:01

That's me caught up slinks off sheepishly

WilHarlot · 23/09/2015 18:09

Ha good work with the catching up there La. Epic posting. Much better than my efforts. By the time I'm finished reading I run out of time to post. Currently hiding in the kitchen cooking dinner to get a minute's peace.

La put B upstairs with the radio/white noise on. You won't need to check every ten minutes if you have a video monitor.

It's fine Snap. I have people I can ask really. I just find it's better to have a range of people to ask questions to so that you don't overly annoy one person all the time ??.

Forgotten what everyone has said already. Tried not to feed BabyWil last night the third (!) time she woke up which resulted in 45 minutes of screaming before I caved. How do I get her out of the habit of night feeding? She's too bloody old to need it, well more than once anyway.

OP posts:
RPopz · 23/09/2015 18:37

Blimey La! Epic catch up, well done Grin Really glad you're feeling better about feeding now. Is the epiwhatsitthing something that'll resolve itself as he gets older then?

Argh Wil. MiniP still wakes 3 or 4 times a night - and that's a good night!

MiniP has just gone down for a nap... That's bedtime screwed then Angry He's been bloody relentless all day... I don't think I'm cut out for toddler ownership! Shock

RPopz · 23/09/2015 18:39

Oh sorry La - just read back and you said he didn't have that!

cookielove · 23/09/2015 19:08

la you can get gro bags and other non gro bag brands that zip round the side (I personally prefer this kind) so you don't have to have the zip next to the neck.

Is your nursing chair comfy? They also look so comfy to me!

popz E is the mover of my group my friends lo only started crawling 3 weeks ago, E is crawling and walking everywhere so I have to chase him in all our groups, we have just starts a gym session which is all about exploring heavenly for me!

WilHarlot · 23/09/2015 19:34

Mini was always like that at classes too. She was on the move from about 6m or so. Whereas C is only starting now. But we hardly ever go to a class so it's fine!

Doesn't the constant wakening bother you Popz? We've got it down to three times here although can usually get away without feeding the first time. After 8 months though, I'd love more than 2 1/2 hours without a wake up.

OP posts:
Minion · 23/09/2015 19:51

MINIon is the mover in ours too. One is commando crawling but R is standing by herself for a few secs now, so I don't think it'll be long.
I walked at 10 months so she may take after me.
We've just had the most epic bedtime battle. She kept sitting up straight as soon as she was put down.
She thought it was a game for a while and started laughing at me.
She's not done that since being a month old. Think she was overtired as she hadn't had her second poo of the day and poss had a tummy ache. Bought her downstairs and you could smell her a mile off.
Christ!

WilHarlot · 23/09/2015 20:22

Grin Min.

How exciting you had a rl viroid meeting La. Did you know each other straight away? And did you keep it a secret from everyone else there and do some kind of secret handshake? Grin

OP posts:
RPopz · 23/09/2015 21:01

I don't love it, but I mind it less than the endless hours I spend putting him to bed in the first place! It's possibly just lazy parenting on my part. He wakes in the night and 5 minutes of boobing will have him asleep again. I could not feed him but then I'd have to spend hours shushing and rocking him or whatever. Probably making a rod for my own back or whatever.

RPopz · 23/09/2015 21:16

Two Fucking Hours I've spent trying to put him down. Now he's crawling round the lounge again. I'm gonna watch corrie if it kills me! F U sleep regression!

Minion · 23/09/2015 21:31

I hope we've had that sleep regression popz but after tonight, I'm not sure...

RPopz · 23/09/2015 22:17

HE'S STILL GOING. Crawling, standing, climbing.... Think I've given birth to the Duracell bunny.

WilHarlot · 24/09/2015 08:06

That's so annoying Popz. When did he go to sleep? Ah Mini used to be a five minute feeder if she woke up in the night. I wouldn't mind that so much. This one is like 45 minutes.

MrWil is raging. He had to sleep in the spare room with the toddler after she got up at 1.30. Thank god I didn't have to deal with that, although she did wake Micro. I miss when nighttime used to be about sleeping.

OP posts:
Minion · 24/09/2015 08:37

My word popz , what a bundle of energy! I hope he gives you a lie on this morning. After rs pissing about last night she still woke at freaking 5:30 and decided pulling my lip was far more interesting than sleeping! Rhyme time this morning when she's supposed to be napping, so assume she'll miss it out again!
I get my own back tomorrow morning as we are off on holiday and we have to leave at 3am! Mwahahahaha
Also, we are pretty sure she knows the difference between mama and dada now as she'll only say the one whose in the room or she's crawling to.
We can't decided which one made sense to her first so in the sense of fairness she said dada first neither will be her first proper word!
